A winning combination of romance, humor, and history

Widow Britta Webster can hardly remember life before her village was overrun with German soldiers during World War II. All she wants is to live a peaceful existence and raise her child. But she will do anything to protect Joshua, even if it means begging a stranger to take her to America where her son will have a safe place to call home.

Honor, grace, and duty are the driving forces behind Bryce Coleman’s approach to life, even as he strives to survive in war-torn France. Severely wounded, he’s left by his comrade in the cellar of a woman who clearly wants nothing to do with him. When she pleads with him for her son’s future, Bryce feels bound by an obligation to the widow for saving his life.

Will a burdensome agreement turn to love when hearts come home to Holiday? Find out in his sweet historical romance packed with vintage charm, nostalgia, and the wonder of Christmas.

Holiday Express Book #3 grabbed my heart and would not let go until the last page. It is now World War II in this third generation of the Coleman family saga and Bryce Coleman finds himself perilously close to enemy lines between France and Germany. Working as a railroad technical expert, he is ambushed and seriously injured. His partner and friend somehow gets him to the farmhouse of Widow Britta Webster and her young son. Britta hides Bryce in her cellar while he recuperates from his injuries as she lives in a no man's land in the middle of a war zone. The lovely widow, along with her young son Josh, pleads for her life as well as the future of her boy for Bryce to take them out of harm's way. Bryce, full of honor, duty and faith, impulsively marries Britta, the only way to get her to America. How on earth will these two ever forge a love between them since they are so totally different? Britta struggles with her new home in Holiday and with Bryce's extended family while Bryce himself struggles to convince Britta their marriage was not simply a marriage of convenience or a hasty mistake! Author Shanna Hatfield pulls out all of the stops on this most unique Christmas romance.

Round About Romance

This story set at the time of the second world war had some war scenes, but mostly dealt with Bryce, a civilian contractor, going home after being severely injured and taking a young widow and her son with him. Excellent characters and plot, plus it was fun to once again meet a few characters from previous books in the series. I also found interesting the information on special railroad troops used to help the military capitalize on the existing rail systems. A great read.

If you have a Coleman, you have a story involving trains.
This series is sweet, romantic and full of adventure. This s the most dangerous of the books, taking place during WWII.
While this book focuses on Bryce, I love that we get to catch up with older generations we grew to love in previous books in this series.

Not officially a member of the U.S. military, thanks to the efforts of his grandfather, Bryce Coleman is still determined to serve his country and fight for a way of life he believes in. His special talents with engineering, trains in particular, and problem solving find him serving all over the world. He is very much in demand. This time he is in France as Germany is claiming the land.
Without giving away too much of the story (it is exciting and I want you to enjoy it for yourself) Bryce is injured and hidden away to heal. When he is rescued, the only way to save the woman who saved him is to marry her and take her back to Holiday, Oregon, the family home.
This is culture shock for Britta, his wife, and she has her own fight against prejudices.
I love how strong Shanna Hatfield has made the women in this series.
They are the ones who truly run the families.
Be aware, you may drool as you spend time in the kitchen with these talented ladies.
Little Joshua will steal your heart, as he does everyone who meets him.

There is danger and romance and difficulties to overcome.
The Coleman men seem to take delight in one particular adventure.
Many surprises populate these pages.
I love the world Shanna created and enjoyed all the real~life details (and research) that go into her books.

I love this series. Britta and her son, Joshua, are alone in an area that is sometimes controlled by the French and sometimes by the Germans. Her father may have been German, but she was born in France. When Bryce is on his way to help fix a train, they are ambushed by some Germans. Bryce and David end up on Britta's doorstep. Bryce's injuries are bad. so David goes for help. Britta hides Bryce from the Germans until help arrives. While recovering, Bryce spends a lot of time with Joshua and comes to love the little boy. When help finally arrives, Britta is afraid for Joshua's safety and asks Bryce to take them with him. Can he take her to America? He would have to marry her in order to do that. How will his family feel about her and Joshua? Can two strangers come to love each other?

This is the best one yet in the Holiday Express series. Bryce Coleman is working with the army in France during WWII and is severely injured. He is taken in by a widow with a 2 year old son. She tends to his wounds, and keeps him hidden from the Germans until he is rescued by his friends. Britta begs him to take her and her son with him and he reluctantly agrees to marry her so he can take her to the United States. When she realizes how wealthy he his, she fears she can't be the kind of wife he needs. The Coleman family, or most of them, accept her into the family and help her adjust to a whole new world. It is so enjoyable to see the 3 generations interacting and loving each other and Britta and Joshua. This is a wonderful, touching story and I look forward to the final book.

Bryce is in Europe on a special railroad contract mission to help the armed forces win the war - he gets injured and ends up in Britta's cellar. She is alone except for her 2 yr old son Joshua and keeping an American hidden could cost her and the boy their very lives if the Germans find them - what a great story of how love can overcome and time can heal all things! I read a bookfunnel version and freely leave my review!

Shanna Hatfield’s writing is beyond amazing.
Whether she’s writing historical, contemporary, or children’s books, her message is always soothing, comforting, and heartfelt.

Holiday Home will not only captivate her readers, Ms. Hatfield will wrap her characters around your heart and soul.

Set in France during WWII, now occupied by the German’s, Bryce Coleman is injured and stranded.
Britta and her infant son Joshua are in fear for their lives, but when David and Bryce show up at her farmhouse injured, she knows she has to help them, if she’s caught, helping Americans it can cost her everything she holds near and dear.

I can’t put into words how phenomenal this book is to read, to enjoy, and to savor.

Truly an inspiring book of devotion sprinkled with faith, hope, and love.

I was hooked right from the beginning. Britta and Bryce meet under horrible conditions. Set in the midst of WWII with Bryce fighting for his life after being injured and Britta just trying to keep her young son safe while living in the middle of the war zone. In order to protect Britta, Bryce brings her and Joshua home with him. Britta is now in a completely new setting where she only knows Bryce. I enjoyed following the two of them while they tried to figure out what the future held for them.

This is the third story in this series of Holiday Express.
This is my favorite one yet. It takes place in WWII and the third generation of the Coleman’s family. Bryce Coleman is in France on a special mission to help with a railroad project that is now in German territory. On this project he and the Lieutenant he was with get hurt while being shot at by Germans.
They make there way toward where they think they came from and see a farm house and hope the owner would help. Bryce is the worst off than David is.
A woman comes out and they explain in English that they need medical help.
She speaks to them in German and Bryce is awake enough to speak to her in German. She takes them in and while trying to work on Bryce to get him fixed up and brace his leg the best she could she then moves a table that is hiding a trap door in the floor that leads to the basement and she and David get him settled into a cot. David goes for help after Britta sends him in the right direction and some very long weeks pass and he comes back with the Colonel and help from the base they left from. She begs Bryce to take her and her son with them. He agrees and the Colonel makes the arrangements for sending them back to America and get married.
Now in the America, Britta is feeling like she will not fit in. They get to Holiday and she sees the house they will live in and it’s far too much for her. She didn’t know she married into a very rich family either and she is just a poor farm girl from France. Her in-laws are wonderful but she isn’t happy there. Finally, to make her feel more comfortable they move into a smaller home on his family’s ranch where she really feels she fits in and Joshua her son is in horsey heaven and with a lot of grandparents he never had before, plus aunts and uncles. He is still a toddler when they get there but Bryce knows he will have to take him on real horse rides.
This is a fabulous story and I loved it the most so far in this series. Make sure you get this one and the rest of this series in the wonderful town of Holiday. I am sure you will love this one and all four in this wonderful series where time changes and more Coleman’s are born. I received a copy from the author and I am doing this review because I loved this story and wanted to and to give my honest opinion on it.

Bryce is a railroad engineer helping the US Army in the middle of Europe during WWII. Unfortunately on the way to a job things go wrong and he ends up injured and at the mercy of a civilian, Britta. While she is happy to help him she is also very wary of Bryce. Luckily Josh, her two year old, is quite happy to break the barrier and soon they learn to team up to avoid the Germans. But can they learn to respect each other and find out what makes them tick before it all goes horribly wrong?
Every so often you read a book that just resonates with you - and Holiday Home did that for me. I really enjoy books based in WWII and this book ticked all my boxes. It had romance, a back story (I love reading series and knowing what happens to those from previous books), a fantastic storyline and the hope of a better future. There is no better way to spend a few hours than by reading this book. In fact, I loved it so much I read it again as soon as I had finished it. My advice is to get a copy today!

Holiday Home is book 3 in the Holiday Express series. This book focuses on the next generation of Colemans during WWII. Bryce is working with the Army in France when he is severely wounded. He comes across the farm of Britta, a young widow and mother of a toddler. She takes care of him and hides him from the Germans while they wait for his friend to bring help.
After an impromptu wedding, Bryce and Britta come back to the States where she struggles to adapt to America as well as being married to someone she doesn’t know.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved seeing characters from the previous books as they were woven into this story as well. The star of the book was little Josh; what an adorable little guy!
I received an ARC of this book, but voluntarily write this review and recommend this book.

This was a touching story

WWII stories always get me. This one really hit the heart strings. Britta and her little boy Joshua were getting by according to war time standards, but she had suffered great loss. When two wounded Americans showed up at her door, she put herself and Joshua in great danger. That didn't stop her; she took them in, nursed them the best she could then watched as the least wounded man, David, walked away promising to come back for his buddy.
Weeks went by as Britta nursed Bryce through the worst of his injuries. In a turn of events, Britta asks Bryce to marry her. To take her and Joshua back to America with him.
Reading this story was so packed with action, heart and love, that I read late into the night and finished it in record time.

Holiday Home

Another favorite, Holiday Home continues following the Coleman family with Zach and Lorna’s son Bryce and a war-widowed mother Britta and her little son Joshua.

Bryce is honorable and generous and Britta is strong and courageous, but reluctant to love again. Joshua is pure cuteness and seems to be the glue that draws and holds them together.

I love the picture of family that you get from this book - that it’s not just family that is born to you but who you choose to love. Like Joseph loved Jesus and Bryce loves Joshua.

A story that pulls a war-torn heart into Hope and Home on the Holiday Express!

Home is where the heart is

What a wonderful read. Shanna does it once again . This is the 3rd book in this Christmas season series. This book involves a young man who knows a thing or two about trains and a young woman from a war torn country. A woman willing to help an injured soldier with great sacrifice to her own safety.
Bryce and Brittany make such a wonderful couple. From their names to the love they shared for one another. It covers every emotion range. While you could read this book on its own you will find it more enjoyable when read in order. It's a quick read because you will find you can't put it down. Love it!

Thanks for the memories!

Bryce and Britta’s story transported me back to listening to my parents and their friends, who all married during WW2, reminiscing about friends lost and one couple in particular who met much like Bryce and Britta did.

Britta knitting really struck a chord because she learned to knit in the dark during air raids. Shanna does a great job with the difficulty Britta faced leaving her homeland under less than ideal circumstances and the adjustments she made. Bryce’s family, for the most part continues to enchant me seeing how they have grown up through the generations.

This is my favorite!! At least until I read the next one. You will love the romances in the Holiday Express Series that go through generations of the Coleman family. Holiday Home finds Bryce in World War II Europe where he is injured and taken care of by Britta, a widowed mother of a two year old. Bryce marries Britta so he can take her and her son back to Holiday where their love blossoms. This is a wonderful heart warming short read for the holidays. Shanna Hatfield brings history and characters to life. Don’t miss this inspirational, clean romance!

Loved this story based on World War 2 where Bryce is injured and cared for by Britta a french woman with a toddler. When its time to go back to the states, Bryce already in love with her little boy, agrees to marry Britta to take her from the war torn place. For Britta getting used to American ways and a wealthy lifestyle is hard. She also tries so hard not to fall in love with Bryce. Bryce is such an admirable man and handsome and he will not give up on having Britta come to love him. A heartfelt and lovely story.

war is terrible

I’m a civilian contractor and I’m across the world from home, helping out with things I can. We set out to a site but our driver must have made a wrong turn because suddenly we were under fire. He slumped over the steering wheel and his foot increased the pressure on the gas. I tried to get over to try and right the direction we were heading but with bullets flying and then hitting the tree as the car was tipped I was thrown out. Read the story to find out what happened next.

Another good read

Since Christmas is over, I have been able to relax for a few days with my soft Christmas little red truck blanket and my Kindle to catch up on my reading. I just finished this book, which is number 3 in the Holiday Express series. This was not only enjoyable to read, but I learned a few things I had never heard about that are history to WW2. Thanks again to Shanna Hatfield for another satisfying and entertaining good read! It's early New Years Eve and while waiting for midnight, I'm about to start book number four!

I enjoyed this book and this series. This book is about Bryce and Britta Coleman. Bryce is a civilian in the military. He is helping with the trains in WWII. He is wounded and has to find a place to lay low until his partner, David can come and get him. He finds a place with Britta Webster. She has a root cellar that is covered.

Britta isn't sure about hiding Bryce from the Germans, but she has no choice. He will be found otherwise and be shot. She doesn't know how long David will take to come back for him. She has her son, Joshau to worry about too.

When Britta saved Bryce’s life during WWII she never expected her life to change so much but she asked him to take her and her son Joshua with him. Will she regret it when she discovers who Bruce really is? This is such a great story continuing the Coleman dynasty. All the characters are so lovable (okay a couple to would want to get on a train and get lost). The family and love connections are so wel write. I recommend the whole series, can’t wait for the final one!

Sweet story with Bryce who is in France helping the US Military when he gets injured and is taken to the home of widow Britta and her young son Joshua. She hides him in her basement from the Germans until help arrives but she ask him to take her and her son back to the US with him so they can have a better life. Bryce agrees to help the young widow and takes her back home with him but she does not know about his wealthy family. Loved this clean romance and fell in love with the characters.

Warm and sweet!

Another delightfully warm and moving story by Shanna Hatfield. Her stories fill the little holes in my life that I didn't know I had. Widowed Britta opens her door to a pair of injured Americans, and her life is changed forever. Bryce's life changes also as he falls in love with Britta's son, Joshua. Returning to the USA and meeting Bryce's family is daunting, but Britta finds confidence and love works wonders. I highly recommend this whole series!

A look at the war in Europe and how innocent people struggle. Bryce is wounded and finds shelter and help which leads to him helping Britta. The two face challenges and daily fears. When they return to Holiday they are welcomed by family and friends. A charming read and visit with old book friends.

This story was absolutely wonderful and worthy of a 5+ rating. The reader is absorbed into the story from the first page and keeps your full attention until the last page is read. Both main characters are likable and one can’t help but step in their shoes for this story. Lots going on; danger, life and death situations and of course, there is sweet romance. Heartily recommend.

War torn France is where this story begins. A widow, a toddler, and a hurt American. I enjoyed this book. In fact I'm loving the entire series. I like the generations, and being able to keep up with everyone. And of course her notes in the back of the book. Good clean romance.
