A Slave to His Passions When Sarah's father shipped her off to Constantinople to marry a stranger, the lively beauty thought her life was over. But Sarah's adventures were just beginning. First her ship was captured by pirates and Sarah was sold to the Sultan's harem. Then she managed a daring escape — straight into the strong arms of American adventurer Jake Price, whose seaworthy boat was docked in the right place at the right time. But as they set sail for Jake's secret, uncharted island, and Sarah felt her handsome rescuer's eyes roaming over her scantily clad body, she wondered if she had escaped the life of a concubine only to become a captive of her own wanton desires...
The Master of her Heart Jake took in the veil, the snug bodice, the bare midriff, the silken trousers — and the blond hair. The fact that she was obviously one of the Sultan's cast-offs didn't bother him. Jake lived on the fine edge of danger and adventure and had little patience for virgins. He'd taken time out to rescue this gorgeous damsel in distress, and he'd exact payment in his own fashion — tormenting her night after night with his skilled caresses, his exploring kisses, and his complete mastery over her every sensation...
Don’t get me wrong...I love my husband...but I’ve spent a lifetime caught in a passionate affair. My lover taunts, teases, enrages, thrills, amuses, and ultimately satisfies. His name? Language. Readers, you know what I’m talking about. Whether written, spoken, or sung, words entice me as no other human invention could ever do. Okay, music is a close second; when you put the two together, the result is sublime.
Like most writers, I came to this devilish profession through a love of reading. I’ve worked as a crime reporter, teacher, librarian - challenges all. They culminated in the creation of stories of my own, both contemporary and historical. My wish is that you let them seduce you
I live in San Antonio with my husband, dote on five grandsons, and travel whenever and wherever I can. My photo was taken on the dock in Liverpool, England, in front of a modern sculpture of a “lamb-banana,” the artist’s whimsical cross between a lamb and a banana. This was shortly before an emotional trip to the boyhood homes of John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
I'm always amazed at how many stereotypes old smutty bodice rippers have.
In this novel:
Loyal servants of clearly inferior ethnic persuasion, also known as Bandit and Nadire. They develop a clear loyalty to the main characters without any real reason. Well, Bandit alludes to some prior escapade in which Jake saved his life. But Sarah did nothing to deserve Nadire's loyalty. At least they got to get some Arabic nooky at the end.
I did like the main character though. Sarah was very sincere in her desire to save the old Sultan from the nefarious plot against him. She just kept having sex with Jake which naturally kept her busy and frequently too late to do anything.
I just finished this book and it has been so long since I have felt so swept up in a story like this. I read the whole book in a day I just couldn't put it down. I love jake and sarah and if you are like me and trying to get an idea of what the book is like, without spoilers I would say it is truly an adventure that is what I loved most about it and the adult scenes are so steamy! I couldn't get enough. definitely read this one!!!
