Hidden Goddess

Rate this book
My name is Maya Strom, and I am an abomination to all witches, or so I've been told. All my life I've been hiding the truth of my magic - from 'friends' and the administrators at my school. After the council tried to take me from my family, and subsequently killing my parents a few years ago, I've been trying to find a way to live a better life.

I get sent to a different country and find out there's way more to my life and my magic than I bargained for.

Buckle up, bitches, this is going to be one shit-tastic ride.

Hidden Goddess is a 57k word novel and is the first book in a completed trilogy. The Maya Strom series is a reverse harem, meaning the main character has more than three love interests and doesn't have to choose. Why choose, anyway?

Also included in the series: steamy scenes, hot men, and magic. Witches, warlocks, gods and goddesses.

OMMFG I'm so glad it will be a series!! I low-key 💜 that she's on the crazier side and I wish we had more moments where she let lose. That ending and reveal y'all!! Must read.

A must read

I really liked this book. It has a little of a bunch of different tropes.

if you are like me and are iffy about starting this because of the ff mentioned. Don't be. I'm not a fan of of two females being in the harem. However there is no other female in her harem and the scene with the other female was small and while one of her men was there he did not even notice the other girl.

Great start on this series. I will definitely be reading the next.

Hidden Goddess

Okay this was a little definite but in a good way. All of the characters are very likable and the mfc is very independent but not afraid to ask for help.

Very light hearted, cutesy story.
Things I liked:
-Loved the cover.
-Maya was a very fun main
-love a stabby queen

Things that annoyed me:
-lots of timejumps and listing things that happened in them
-same with conversation being had but not for the reader to see
-how many showers does one person need to take?
-is there a shower sex fetish here? Because there is too much shower sex going on for it not to be someones kink
-for how many sex scenes there is in this book, none of them are very detailed or …spicy? And wow I konocked a star of my rating just for that orgy-scene being described as «one by one we kissed and fucked.» Like that was it, not one detail, just full stop?
-there were a lot of conversations that should have been had between her and her guys. Specially seeing as she started relationships with both her adopted brothers, professor and headmaster. Like, give me some anst and ‘oh this is kind of wrong should we really do this’-hesitation. There were none of that.
-also her and Mark’s relationship seemed to be the only «real» one, and the others were just extea, and I don’t enjoy that clear faviourism in RH-relationships.

The best thing about this book is the cover.

Saw all the great reviews and picked this up. I made it 40% into it before giving up. It's all bad; the writing, the characterizations and even the sex scenes.

Let's start with the female lead who is charmless and a written as a bad stereotype for a psychopath even though the author clearly intends for that to come across as take no shit badass. Maya reads about serial killers opining they should be her friends, throws knives at her loyal lover and says things like he's so pretty that she wants to stab and blares heavy metal to remind us readers that she's such a dark bad ass. School is called a hell hole, mentions that she's un-liked even bullied and then proceeds to maliciously bully others just for fun. She even used her power to mentally 'suggest' that a female flight attendant join her in the toilets for an impromptu three some after using her power to flip up her skirt and sees she's not wearing panties. Which first really comes off as a sexual assault and second, we're supposed to believe a commercial airline stewardess could get away with wearing a skirt soo short that doing her job exposes her enough to show some cheek but also believe no one else noticed her skirt being flipped up to expose her entirely?

A lot of things in this book are stupidly implausible. She astral projects as a task and just happens to see a teacher watch lesbian porn on his phone? She tells her new headmaster he's hot, that she lies being tied up\tying up others and even cops a feel of his dick and he just continues on like nothing is strange about her behavior? At another point she goes to the school training area in her skirt, blouse and despite being OP can't magic up trying clothes and instead strips down to barely there red lingerie and again, NO ONE ACTS LIKE THAT IS STRANGE AT ALL.

I get that every reader is different, that all the things that bother me about this book might be something another reader is fine with or likes but I wanted to take the time to review so that others might get a head's up because I wish I'd been given one.

Fantasy epic, with magic, witches and? Maya is adopted as a baby by a couple with three other children, but at age 5, the children leave and Maya forgets them. Instead she has a soul mate like attachment to Mark, and they grow up together, in love and lust. Her hidden magic is different from other witches and if she follows their procedures stuff blows up, yet she can get to the end result her way. At 15 both Mark's and her parents are murdered by the government council looking for Maya because of a prophecy. They kill most of the attackers and return to magic school. The story begins with them being sent to the UK to attend the Goddess Academy because she fails all her regular classes. There all manner of secrets are revealed, except who Maya really is. But, her birth parents left her a trust with billions and property everywhere, so she can pretty much do whatever she wants. This series is one half plot and one half bedroom scenes. Want another, just turn the page. Maya feels a weird warmth for numerous men and adds them to her harem instantly, despite the men's concerns. She acts like a succubus, but I don't think she is. So, if you can get past the distracting, constant intrusion of sex chapters, or enjoy them, the plot is good. oh and lots of characters seem to know who she is, and her involvement in a prophecy, but they are all magically prevented from telling her until she figures it out herself.

questionable

Not really sure how to feel, there is honestly far too much sex in this book that is completely unnecessary to the plot. Smut for smut sake. Then we have the idiot main character who took five months to figure out she was freaking pregnant. It was obvious. Plus her whole character is a wild caricature of a badass woman. I’m reading the next one just so I can see what shit happens next. It’s honestly unbelievable on so many levels it’s not funny. If the audience can figure it out from the half way point you didn’t do your job well.

Love it!

I love this book!!!!! Maya is strong, sarcastic, and a total bada**!!! There are some sad parts, but the witty banter, kicka** action, steamy scenes and more, are totally worth it!!!!!!
