What do you think?

Lumber Snack
On the first day of Christmas, I climbed my true love's tree...
Dear Santa,
After everything I’ve been through this year, I think we can both agree that I deserve something special in my stocking this Christmas. And the burly, axe-toting, mountain man that just rescued me from an icy death sure fits the bill. At least, he would if he could pull that spruce tree out of his back chimney.
I’ve always been the nice girl, but all it’s ever gotten me is a cheating ex, a closet full of bridesmaid dresses, and one lonely Christmas after another. Maybe it’s time to try the naughty list…
Love,
Millie Partridge
Dear Santa,
I know I said I wanted to meet a woman. I just wasn’t expecting to find her in my pear tree. And yeah, I shouldn’t complain about getting snowed in with my sexy little trespasser, but it’s getting hard to keep my head on straight when she’s near.
Despite the off-key caroling, the baking disasters, and that one modest house fire, Millie Partridge is growing on me like a sexy little piece of mistletoe. I’m trying to keep it cool, but if she knew all the things I’ve been thinking, it might lead to a not-so-silent night and more than one thing getting laid under my Christmas tree…
Send help,
Sam Barnes

"Whatever he wants more of, he can have it. That man can have any part of me he wants. Hell, he can have all of me."
I love Mae Harden's novellas. Every time you're looking for a quick read, she never disappoints. They may be insta-love or lust because it's a novella, but you still get amazing characters.
I'm giving this one 5 very appreciative stars. You need to read it to figure out what that means.
I think you may find yourself appreciating it too.
"I've never seen a woman look so rumpled and so completely irresistible."
I love Millie. To be fair, I didn't like her at first but once she stood up for herself... you go, girl! She's tough, this one, and she may be looking to get away from her problems, but while doing so... she meets the mountain man (orchard man?) of her dreams.
And maybe mine too. Sorry, not sorry.
"He's shirtless, his broad chest peppered with hair that trails all the way down under the waistband of his black pajama pants. Holy fir tree, that is a happy trail I could follow home."
And that is because, make no mistake, Sam is hot. There's something about a gruff mountain man that appeals to me. And he even has the cute dog, so what's not to like?
Their first meeting had me laughing out loud. And no, I didn't miss the irony of a (Millie) Partridge in a pear tree. Closed proximity in a mountain cabin between two people who are clearly into each other was bound to end in some sexy times!
"Come home with me. You were gone all of thirty seconds when I realized I couldn't let you leave."
At the end, Lumber Snack gives you the feels without missing the steamy quality Mae lends her work. While not being necessarily heavy on the holiday stuff, there's something about it that screams Christmas, and all the magic (and love) of the season.

I loved the chemistry between Millie and Sam! Did they fall in love ridiculously fast and get instantly, um, enthusiastic for each other? Yeah, but at 90 pages, you kind of expect that.
This little book was exactly what I needed. It felt like a Hallmark movie… but spicy. You can’t expect too much from a 90-page romance, but for a quick holiday romantical read, it was perfect.
Was some of it over the top? Absolutely. Referring to certain anatomy as "the North Pole" and joking about giving her a "white Christmas"? Eww. But honestly, I was able to overlook that because the overall vibe of the book was just so fun and heartwarming.
With the constant doom and gloom from the world, Lumber Snack was the perfect escape. It’s lighthearted, sweet, and full of laughs. If you’re looking for a quick, festive read to lift your spirits, this one delivers!

Oh, Mae how I love the way you can weave a quick and steamy insta-love story. You certainly know how to pack a punch into a short tale.
Milie is a woman on a mission. She has had a terrible year and is about to have to stand up for her so called friend at a wedding that she doesn't want to be at. She has been wrong so many ways by this person that the straw is about to break this feisty camel's back! So right as she is getting put down yet again, she finally stands up for the most important person, herself. She walks no runs away from that wedding and that entire situation. In her cringe worthy bridesmaid dress, she makes a quick get-away. A snowy night, a dark road and a woman on a mission. When Millie wrecks her car, she has no choice but to huff it to the nearest home. If she wasn't being chased by a bear she would have never ended up in a tree or close to frostbite.
Sam is a mountain of man that runs that family orchard. He keeps to himself and enjoys the simple life. That is until someone comes barreling into his world and knocks him for a loop. The moment she falls into his arms all frostbitten and in that hideous dress he knows that he is a goner!
This couple is funny, sweet, sizzling and have fabulous chemistry! Loved their wonderfully witty banter !

This was a perfect sweet Christmas Novella with a splash of steam.
I won't lie, I prefer my men OTT possessive and alpha, especially during a novella, but I still enjoyed the shit out of this one.
Oh and I will say that I almost, ALMOST put the book down at the beginning of the first chapter, because I didn't think there was anyway I was going to like and tolerate Millie, but I told myself I had to at least finish the first 20 pages, lol. And I'm so happy I did, because as fast as annoyed me she fixed it.
I don't think anyone can go wrong with Mae Harden's books. She is becoming one of my go-to authors went I just want to a fun easy read that makes me laugh and has some good sexy times thrown in.

Mae Harden is one of those authors that can write a good novella. I know that when I swipe that first page that it is going to drag me in and give me well rounded characters with a steamy story that I don't want to end. Millie and Sam have a fantastic meet cute in which Millie mistakes Sam for a bear, and what follows is a blend of everything I want in a novella. If you want something short and dirty, the this is the book for you!

Book club made me do it. Thank goodness I got this using credits on Amazon for kindle. Honestly, gave this 2 stars because it was so cringe-worthy bad that I had a lot of good laughs throughout the last 30%. I haven’t laughed that hard in a while, so it wasn’t all for nothing.

It was fine. It starts off a bit weird. This woman’s boyfriend cheats with her friend. And she ends up being the maid of honor at the wedding. What!?
If her being a doormat and changing was an essential part of the story, maybe it would make sense. But it’s a bit gratuitous and not necessary to the rest of the story at all.
She meets a guy. They kinda fall into instalust that he fights for some weird reason.
Enh. It’s fine but not great.

This Christmas novella is full of humor, heat, and snowed-in fun! I'm still laughing out loud over Millie and Sam's first encounter. I just loved this quick and steamy read.

4.25/5 stars
Millie is the maid of honor for her mean and nasty college roommate, she’s marrying Millie’s ex boyfriend who she stole and slept with. Millie really dodged a bullet and is glad the two nasty people are ending up together, they deserve one another. After the groom to be hits on her again and the bride vows her fidelity, when she was with the stripper at the bachelorette party, Millie looses it and walks out during the ceremony. Not wanting to go home she keeps driving until a blizzard and a tree falling right on the road in front of her causes her car to wreck. Thankfully she had passed a house a bit back and heads out in the blizzard towards it. Sam owns an orchard and was out checking on his new trees when he hears the crash, hopping on his snowmobile he goes to investigate. The car is empty so he heads towards his house when he sees Millie. Stunned from the airbags going off she’s trying to just get to the house when she sees what she thinks is a bear. No just Sam all bundled up in ugly brown gear. Suffering from hypothermia he gets her inside and warmed up. Once they both get a good look at each other their attraction is instant. They talk and get to know one another and share a hot kiss. But Sam’s worried she won’t stay and he’ll be heartbroken. When the lights finally go off they snuggle in front of the fire and give into the chemistry brewing since she arrived. Their sexy times are hot. The morning brings the end of the blizzard and the sheriff to get Millie. Shocked that he doesn’t have more time with her he’s silent when she leaves. Millie’s heartbroken driving into town with the chatty sheriff until a truck comes barrels behind them honking. It’s Sam, he confesses he doesn’t want her to leave and asks Millie to stay with him, she of course says yes. Epilogue three years later with them happily married and expecting.
There are some real funny moments and both Sam and Millie are very sweet and likable characters.

One little tiny wreck leads Millie to her future lumberjack love, Sam when she climbs his Grandpa's pear tree in order to get away from what she thinks is a bear but is really just a large lumber hottie. When she's forced to hole up with Sam to ride out the storm, will they forge a permanent connection, or will Sam let her walk out of his life when the Sheriff finally comes to let her know the roads have cleared?
Lumber Snack is a sweet, spicy insta-love holiday romance. Millie was awesome, especially when she stood up for herself in the beginning, and Sam is adorably hot and in love with her.

What a way to survive a snowstorm
This started out with Millie being the maid of honor in a mean girl "friends" wedding to her ex-boyfriend. Millie and the bride grew up together, roomed together in college and when she introduced her to Joe as her boyfriend. The mean girl stole him from Millie. Well, the wedding didn't go as planned, Millie lost it. I wish I could attend a wedding like it. She ended up driving north from Boston towards Maine. Ended up in a snowstorm and crashing her car. You'll just have to read the book to see what happens to her. Chased by a "bear", climbed a tree (while still in the ugly brides maid dress) and gets frozen. This is where Sam comes into the picture. He owns a fruit growing farm. Living alone with his trusty dog. Read this book, you'll get a kick out of more of Millie's mishaps. I enjoyed reading this book and hope you will as well. Written by Cindy :)

5 Stars!
POV: Dual (1st person)
Tropes: Forced proximity, Novella
Triggers: None
Likes: Mae seriously is the queen of steamy feel good novellas, and this one is no exception! What's not to love about being snowed in with a hot lumberjack! The chemistry between Millie and Sam was on fire, I just couldn't wait to see who would be the first one to make a move!
Dislikes: Maybe could have been more drama? But heck, it was just the pick-me-up I needed!
Overview: If you’re in the mood for a quick steamy festive read, then this is the book for you! I’m a sucker for a forced proximity romance. Especially one with a hunky recluse lumberjack…no manwhore here! What starts off as a bridesmaid’s escape from a wedding from hell, soon turns into her very own happily ever after. Loved it!

The second Millie stood up for herself and walked out of her friends wedding I was cheering for the woman. She quickly become one of my favorite characters. Sure, she ended up running from her problems, ended up in a tree, but also met a Sam. Sam kind of keeps to himself out in his orchard, he doesn’t really celebrate the holidays, but meeting Millie has quickly changed things for him.
There is instant chemistry that is heating up the pages between Millie and Sam. Plus, a much deeper connection that instantly forms between them. I loved the two of them together and I wish there was more because I was not ready for this one to end!

"I can’t go back to living in silence. I’ve just been… existing for so long. With Millie, I’m alive again."
Yet another Mae Harden novella that I fell completely in love with. Lumber Snack is a snowed in, Christmas novella set in Sugar Creek. It's about Millie, who decides to take a little impromptu Christmas vacation in Maine but ends up trapped in the middle of nowhere during a massive snow storm. She finds herself in front of Barnes Orchard where she meets the owner of the place, Sam. Due to the snowstorm, the two strangers are trapped together for Christmas and as you can expect, sparks fly.
This novella was HILARIOUS, like I found myself laughing out loud so many times. Mae writes so well but she also has some of the best banter. Sam and Millie have amazing chemistry and I loved them together. This novella was absolutely perfect for a holiday read and I loved every second of it.
“You wouldn’t deny me the only thing I want for Christmas, now would you?”

Mae Harden is the queen of spicy novellas! I’m not sure how she does it, but I always feel like I’ve read a full length book when I’ve finished, because the characters and stories are so developed!
This one takes us back to Sugar Creek, Maine for a snowed in/forced proximity romance between Millie and Sam. I loved seeing Millie develop some backbone and she had me laughing within the first couple of pages! Sam is out on his own with just him and his cute dog, and he is the swooniest farmer/lumberjack/gentleman you might ever read! They have instant chemistry and it’s easy to believe that they could fall for each other so fast.
Lumber Snack is the perfect quick and cozy holiday read!

A fun, fast, and steamy christmas novella! I didn't mind the insta-love/-lust at all, which was nice, and I loved the first meeting between Sam and Millie. The use of christmassy words during sex was a little too much for me though. However this novella did its job! Might even read some of the other Kissmas novellas, who knows.

Christmas time is here and what better way to celebrate than the perfect little holiday novella!! Lumber Snack comes to KU on December 1st and was exactly what I needed to get into the holiday spirit!
We meet Millie post Maid of Honor to major Bridezilla duties, as she hops on the highway and heads toward Maine. Only problem is one hell of a snow storm, which brings down a tree and leads to one heck of a car crash.
But have no fear, Sam is here! Turns out Millie crashed right outside his family farm and he comes to her rescue 🥰
Snowed in for the next few days, these two really feed of their chemistry and one thing leads to another and 🔥🥵🔥 I loved the forced proximity - Millie is adorable yet clumsy, which led to some really funny moments! And Sam is all lumber flannel sexy with an adorable dog … swoon!
Another great novella from Mae and great steamy read for the holidays!!

WOW!! Fab*u*lous Absolutely love this one!! I couldn't put this one down. This was a nice quick, short read.
Sam and Millie met during a snow storm. Millie was a bridesmaid for her friends wedding. Her friend who cheated on her with her boyfriend, then insisted she be her maid of honor. Millie's been in eight weddings this year and finally came to blows. She walked out on her friends wedding, she had enough. Millie gets in her car and drives, until she hits a snowstorm. Millie can't see where she's going and suddenly hears a loud crack, then sees a tree fall. Millie can't stop her car and runs into the tree. Sam hears the tree go down and then hears tires screeching. When he gets to the seen he can't find the driver. Millie goes in search of someone at the farm she passed, while Sam is searching for her. When Millie spots Sam running towards her she thinks he's a bear and she starts running, she goes to a tree and starts to climb it. Sam tells her to get out of his tree, when she tries to go higher she hits a branch that breaks and she falls down, he catches her. Sam takes Millie and carries her into his home, he needs to undress her since she's freezing. He sits her by the fire and covers her up with blankets, while his dog snuggles with her. When Millie wakes up she isn't sure where she is, Sam comes in with some more firewood. Millie asks him where she's at but he wants to check her feet for frostbite. Sam calls the sheriff and finds out the roads will be closed for a few days. Millie and Sam talk and she finds out he doesn't have his tree up because it's just him. Sam offers her something to eat, then shows her to a guest bedroom. The next morning Millie wakes to the smells of breakfast, they sit and talk while they eat. Then they head to the attic to get the Christmas decorations out for Millie to decorate. Millie tries to untangle the strings of lights and when Sam tries to help, she stumbles and he catches her, they lean in and kiss. Sam head outside to get some more firewood in case the electricity goes out. Millie decorates, when Sam doesn't come back inside she finds a roast in the fridge so she makes it. She's looking through his cupboards when she finds a recipe book, and decides to make cookies. Millie is putting ornaments on Sam's dog when she sees smoke coming from the oven. She rushes over to take the pan of cookies out that have spread all over and drip from the pan. Then she notices something catch fire at the fireplace, she rushes outside and grabs a bucket of snow and puts out the fire. Sam's dog rushes outside and barks at him, when he looks he sees the smoke coming-out of his home. Sam rushes inside to see that Millie put out the fires. Sam notices the smell of the roast and tells her it's smells good. They get rid of the smoke in the home, he tells her the recipes where his mothers and she never followed them. They sit down to eat and Millie asks him what happened to his parents. Sam tells her then wants to know what happened to make her run from a wedding, Millie tells him. After they go to bed, Millie get thirsty when she goes downstairs the lights pop off, Sam calls to her and she tells him she's downstairs. Millie tells Sam about her terrible ex's and how they weren't man enough. Sam tells her if he had someone like her he would show her how he appreciated her and he could do it with one hand. Millie tells him he needs to prove it, Sam begins to pleasure her. After she comes, she pleasures him, then they make love. They wrap up in the blanket and fall asleep with each other, Sam wants to tells her that he's falling for her then decides to do it in the morning. When the sun comes out Sam wakes up, then he hears knocking on his door. The sheriff announces he's there and wants to know if they're alright. Sam doesn't want to answer the door, Millie wakes up and gets dressed. Sam answers the door and the Sheriff tells him he's there to take Millie back home. Millie thanks Sam for letting her stay, she wants him to asks her to stay but he doesn't. As soon as Millie leaves Sam regrets not asking her to stay, he jumps into his truck and chases after the sheriff. LUMBER SNACK is one book in the 12 Days of Kissmas Series. (12 short books) All standalone Christmas Stories by different authors.
Millie Partridge is having a miserable day! This will be her 8th wedding, just this year, where she is a bride's maid. But this one is by far the worst! She is standing in the ugliest green bride's maid dress and is standing right next to the bride who has been a longtime “friend?” Millie doesn't know why she ever agreed to be the Maid of Honor. Her problem is the groom is Millie's now ex-boyfriend named Joey. The one she caught cheating on her with the bride “friend?” named Gail. At the rehearsal dinner last night, Gail made sure everyone knew that Millie had dated Joey and she had stolen him away. Like it was some great achievement. Like it's funny she slept with her boyfriend. The sleaze Joey had even tried to have “one more time” with Millie for old times sake at his own wedding. A girl can only take so much, so she walks out of the ceremony backwards & yells, “Have a nice life!” While showing Gail a double middle finger goodbye. She guesses she might have ruined the wedding. Millie gets in her car & decides driving to Maine sounds good. But a spur of the moment road trip during a huge white-out snowstorm?
She does make it to Maine, but Millie's not dependable car crashes into a large pine tree that has fallen across the road. As bad as today has been, it gets lots better when she is rescued by a tall and handsome man named Sam Barnes.

Lumber snack indeed
Chemistry like this is once in a lifetime. I’ve never felt anything like it; never been drawn to someone so desperately. And I don’t want to fight it anymore.
…..
This was my first Mae Harden read and boy it surely didn’t disappoint! I’m addicted to these novellas lately but now I’m going to have to read all of Mae’s backlog! This sweet & steamy novella is just what was needed to get into the holiday spirit and even better is it’s on Kindle Unlimited.
Millie is stuck being the maid of honor to a majorly dysfunctional couple and the bridezilla of the century. When she decides she can’t take anymore and walks out of the wedding, she decides to just follow where the road take her and that happens to be Maine. What she didn’t count on was the massive amounts of snow that would lead to her car being wrecked and her being stranded and snowed in with Sam for a few days.
Sam being the ever concerned citizen noticed her stranded outside of his family farm and helps her get inside from the cold. The forced proximity of these two on this snowy mountainside and sizzling chemistry leads to more and I was so here for it. Millie is adorably clumsy while Sam is a guy who knows how to make lumber & flannel look hot plus the most adorable and protective dog ever. *cue funny and sexy moments* I loved how nothing about this felt forced & definitely recommend this Christmas novella 😍🙌🏽

(Dual POVs)
Okay, I was sold on this book the minute I read the blurb. And it. Did. Not. Disappoint 👏 Another book to add to my list of favorites from Mae Harden! It’s a story of pretty insta-love with the characters falling in love over the course of a few days of being snowed in together. These two were cute together. I liked each character separately and I enjoyed them even more together!
Millie isn't exactly a haphazard hot mess, but she also doesn’t have the best of luck. She lands herself in the predicament of being snowed in with a stranger after crashing her car in a snowstorm and climbing a tree in the middle of said snowstorm. I won’t even go into detail about how she’s trying to be a good guest, but accidentally starts a small fire in Sams’s cabin.
Sam might be a bit of a recluse, but he isn’t the typical silent, grump of a recluse. He’s actually such a sweet host to his unexpected guest. Even though he lives alone, it’s far from a bachelor pad and there is something so attractive about a man who is mature, responsible, and has a caretaker attitude. The part that really got me was his reaction to Millie accidentally starting a fire in his cabin.
Tucker was such a sweet addition to this book! He added so many tender moments, I personally don’t think it would have been the same without him. For those of you who haven’t read the book, you’re probably thinking, “Tucker? But the male MC’s name is Sam.. Who’s Tucker?” Well, Tucker is Sam’s dog.
Favorite Quotes:
“I swear to God, if you die on my living room floor in your underwear, I’m going to be so pissed.” -Sam
maybe my brain needs to shut up for like five minutes and let me enjoy the rippling muscles. She’s had her chance at picking men and as we’ve seen, her taste is trash. -Millie
“Sweet fucking North Pole,” -Millie

Title: Lumber Snack
Author: Mae Harden
Hero/Heroine: Sam & Millie
Trope: Forced Proximity
THE GOOD 😀
Continuing on with the theme of Christmas novellas, this little delight gave me all the festive feels.
When Millie, our kick ass heroine, walks out of a wedding where she’s a reluctant Maid of Honour, flipping the bride and groom the double finger as she exits, she decides to get in her car and just drive. Where does she end up? Stuck in her mangled car in the middle of snowy Maine after crashing into a fallen tree. This is where she meets Sam, who she mistakes for a bear and ends up climbing a tree to get away from him (I laughed hard at this). Ahhhh Sam *sighs dreamily* he was a lumber snack indeed; when someone is compared to a Hemsworth brother, that automatically puts a check in the pro column. As well as being hot AF, he was also considerate, taking care of Millie when she became hypothermic.
With amazing banter between them, and so much chemistry it was enough to set your Christmas tree on fire, Lumber Snack was a delight from start to finish.
THE BAD ☹️
Gail. The woman was just asking to be tit punched.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: Steamy Christmas novella with a swoon worthy hero and strong, feisty heroine
STEAM LEVEL: 🔥🔥🔥

Millie Partridge I will say I didn’t think much of this heroine at the beginning, but then she showed me that possibly she could grow on me. Millie is quite unlucky in the man department. Being a yes girl her whole life, Millie finds it refreshing to stand her ground.
Who would have thought a lumberjack could be that sexy. Sam Barnes corrected my thinking on that path, sweet lord this man had a lady parts singing. Sam takes over running the family business in Sugar Creek, Maine after his parents death.
Sweet lord Mae Harden with friends like Gail who needs enemies. Gail is a mean spotlight queen and I wanted to slap her. lol Lumber Snack is a short hot holiday story of two strangers who are both struggling in their own ways. I enjoyed the backdrop, the scenery but I have to ask Ms. Harden will we see more of Sam and Millie in a future book?
