The Aliens' Mate

Rate this book
Luc Martin was abducted by aliens over a month ago and has been stuck in a cage on a spaceship with three women ever since. On either side of their cell are two alien prisoners who both seem to have a thing to staring at Luc. Oh and everyone’s naked.

Then comes the moment when escape is possible, and Luc makes the decision to free Bolaico and Teranu in the hopes that they know how to do more in outer space than he does. And boy do they! A fight through the ship, stealing a shuttle, and crash landing on a strange planet get the group of five away from their abductors…but now what?

Following through on the idea that Luc could be the aliens’ thank you gift for all their help sees him giving into desires up in a tree and in a hot springs pool inside a cave. As time passes, and despite a language barrier with both aliens, Luc discovers he’s begun to care about his aliens. But do they feel the same?

When their captors track them down and force a confrontation that includes the native population on this planet, their futures will be decided by the choices that they make. When Luc’s aliens have the chance to return to their lives, where does he fit in?

I think I'm developing a hard-core alien romance kink... huh.

The Aliens' Mate is a sexy little sci-fi erotic novella. It's funny, it's a bit silly, it's hella hot... and threesomes. It's a poly-am story, which I'm usually not that into, but it works so well here. Be prepared for diverse genital configurations and non-human appendages. I was sooooo down.

I enjoyed the humor in this story, and it left me wanting more. Super fun, satisfying read, and now I want to binge this author.

The apostrophe in the book title is in the correct place. It's not one alien, but TWO, and both possess human Luc, who finds himself abducted, along with other humans and the two aliens in question, by other mean lizard-looking alien mercenaries.

So many aliens! We even get alien tigers, who look like Earth tigers but are smaller and cuddlier. I was so jealous of all the tiger snuggles.

There's not much to the plot honestly, and the aliens aren't that alien. They look and react pretty much like humans (they're bipedal with arms and legs, although for a fun twist, one of Luc's aliens has tentacles around his penis and the other has four eyes and four arms).

I adored fierce Bolaico and gentle, scholarly Teranu. I was worried the story would veer off in a non-consensual direction, but it's obvious immediately that Luc wants the attention (and the hard fucking).

This story is FUN and sexy. It's not deep, and the world-building is minimal. Don't go in expecting ground-breaking sci-fi and you'll enjoy it like I did.

OK so I just love everything I read from this author. Funny, sexy, well written monster/human romance, and I'm so so here for it!

Luc, along with three women from Earth, were abducted and were being held prisoner. When they have the chance to escape they take it, but Luc is also insistent on freeing the two aliens who are also being held captive. Together, the group escape and make it to a planet.

Luckily for the humans, the two aliens really help them survive, along with some adorable alien tigers. I loved the vivid world building in this, really fun!

And can we talk about how fun and sexy Luc's mates are? Both different and "alien" but totally compatible with Luc. I loved them. (And I love when I get to add a book to the tentacles bookshelf LOL) I really love how we got to see how they communicated and worked together just through Luc's eyes, since there is a language barrier to deal with at the start.

Luc finds himself abducted by aliens, locked into a cage with three human women and two leery aliens in adjacent cages. They are all naked, go figure.
When the chance arises, they escape and crash-land on a planet, where they meet with flora and fauna.

The author asked at the end of the story politely:
If you would be so kind as to write a review telling other readers why you enjoyed this book, that would really help me.
So here I am. Why did I enjoy the book? I was seriously contemplating to leave an anonymous review because, really, 4 stars for this smut? With aliens that acted like humans, even facial displays of emotions like humans. Every conflict solved within minutes. And the winner is - ALWAYS our little group of escapees. A planet inhabited with fluffy tiger like creatures. A fellow abductee that was so obnoxious, it was not even funny anymore (but it was). A couple of aliens who constantly had sex with Luc. All cuddly wrapped up with an HEA.

It was awesome! If you are a sifi nerd don't even touch this with a ten-foot-pole! ;-)
Low angst all cuddly feel good story, not very fleshed out but that was probably a good thing - hit the spot for me today.

Humor: 3 stars - I don't think this was supposed to be funny, but I was literally ROFL over the ridiculousness
General writing style: 4 stars
Story line idea: 4 stars
Story line execution: 2 stars
Plot: 4 stars (yes, I like my happy endings!)
Annoy factors: it was so over the top stupid that I just went with the flow. 4 stars
R-rated content: five fairly long descriptive scenes (that's a lot for a 130pages novella)
Narration: 3rd person Luc, past tense
Main Location: alien ship and alien planet
Main protagonists: Luc, 21, barista, gay; a couple of aliens from different species/planets, undisclosed age, horny.

This one was cute and the writing had a quirky edge to it that I normally really like, but there was no detectable angst (which my jaded self really needs, apparently) and I had a really hard time seeing the connection between Luc and the aliens. I mean they could only communicate on the most rudimentary level for 3/4 of the book and it was much like the aliens just decided that Luc was going to be their human and Luc just went with it. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. And Luc was all in after the first time they had sex, so they were already established by the time the communications issues were (admittedly, cleverly) worked out. The sex was...well I'd have liked it better if I actually felt the feels, but it was ok.

So honestly, I could take or leave this one. I probably won't remember it next week, but you might have a different experience, so maybe try some other reviews and if you find the blurb interesting, go for it!

Definitely take this one for the more lighthearted approach. It deals with some very serious subject matter but things just seem to fall into place super easy and a lot is just brushed over. There are so many world-building opportunities and other ways this could have gone/been expanded if it was just even a little longer. And the insta-love/trust... I would have liked a bit more insight there, too, even while I have to give props for the single POV. I prefer it and it is rarely done. I really would like more of these three together and seeing how things play out - even with Zenobia and Farrah.

Again, I could have done without the epilogue - wraps everything up even more perfectly than it already was.

I still liked what was here. (The tigers...!!) Was a fun, quick read and I enjoyed the writing style and ideas. I will definitely pick up another by this author again.

DNF @ 36%. No rating.

Is anybody (including me) surprised that this wasn't my thing? No, but I'm happy I gave it a shot. To my surprise, it wasn't written as a straight forward rom-com and it did take the action plotline seriously so that was a plus. My problem is that the romance felt half baked and the plot was way too cluttered for a book this short.

To start with - I misread one tiny word in the summary. I assumed the three female characters would be in the background during the captivity and then the group of three (Luc + two aliens) would escape together. Well, the summary actually says 'group of five' (it should have been six...?) instead of 'group of three'. I got irritated by the presence of the three female characters right off the bat and I wasn't pleased to discover that all three end up on the planet with Luc and that Luc spends most of his time with them. I had no interest in any of them and I don't understand why the author set up multiple scenes where Luc was spending time with them rather than with the two aliens who he was supposed to develop a romance with.

Due to the female characters taking up a huge amount of page time, there was little space left for Luc to bond with either Bolaico or Teranu. Add in the fact that there was a language barrier and it was difficult for Luc to communicate with either of the aliens while he could have lengthy, detailed conversations with the women and it added to the lopsided focus in the narrative.

There was zero chemistry between Luc and either of the aliens and I never felt any attraction or romantic interest from Luc towards either of them. It's clear that Bolaico has the hots for Luc from the start, but it's a Me-Tarzan-You-Jane scenario. Bolaico clearly has no interest or respect for Luc, he just finds him attractive and thinks that saving Luc's life entitles him to get into his pants. Luc doesn't seem to have much of an opinion about this but it gave me the creeps that everybody went along with the idea that it was acceptable for Bolaico to ogle Luc and initiate sexual contact with him when there's clearly no relationship build up there. One of the women takes the time to ask Luc if he knows that he doesn't have to do anything with Bolaico if he doesn't want to, but this wasn't enough for me. They're all in a dangerous, vulnerable situation and having four characters think it's fine for Bolaico to treat Luc like a pretty toy that he gets to play with didn't sit right with me. Bolaico isn't just much stronger than Luc but the entire group is relying on Bolaico to keep them safe and alive so the situation felt too dub-conny for my taste.

I thought Luc had more chemistry and a stronger bond with Teranu but even that didn't get the development I wanted to see because Luc spends so much time with the women and they take up so much space. But the fact that Luc didn't appear to be bonding with either of the aliens was just one problem. There was no chemistry or bonding happening between Teranu and Bolaico either, and the whole point is that this was supposed to be a poly romance.

I'm pretty sure I'm overthinking all of this. This is the type of story where the author wants readers to turn off their brains and just enjoy mindlessly reading the words. I understand why that appeals to some readers but it's not my thing. Since the author did a relatively good job with the action plotline (there are a lot of plot conveniences along the way but they were minor), I was hoping the romance would also be handled the same way. Alas, it's not my kind of thing so I'm gonna bow out of this one.

"Did he have tentacles? Because some of those thick dicks just wiggled."

I'm torn between wanting to binge all the authors' books and save them for lil quickies. This is the second book I've read, and I loved it! They're so cheesey, mushy and fun.

Their lil 3 some in the hot springs was absolutely delicious.

Very cute m/m/m(?) alien romance/erotica, that like all of Rain's work I've read to date, I wish there were more exposition and fleshing out of characters. Told only from Luc's POV, this alien abduction story is overall fun, but does have a few problematic issues that pop up in regards to queer representation: Spoilers coming up with a TW/CW for topic of rape

Even taking those into consideration, this is a light, fluffy read with little angst that one would expect from Rain—despite being a scenario where Luc, the three human women, and both non-human aliens were all abducted for what appears to be a breeding program of some sort.

There's this theory about how the viewers or readers are forever searching for something that is both familiar yet new and exciting and crossing over some invisible lines of what is 'acceptable' and what is not turns away any reader, in any direction.

Well, despite this being what I would normally consider way too different for my tastes, I must say I liked several things about the book, including the strong cast and some motifs. While it wasn't my cup of beverage in every way (okay, I'll say it I started skipping sex scenes, happy now?) I must say the style made up for it and I consider it a nice, unusual read.

new to me author

I liked that the aliens were truly alien alien not just humans with different markings. I found this entertaining and fun. There are details missing that I would have liked to know, but the story didn’t suffer for the lack. Luc was a great main character but I liked the supporting ones as well. I will definitely check out more from this author!

What a fun sexy romance with a touch of humor, between aliens and our human, Luc. I’m liking this author who writes fun romances. This one did not disappoint. Luc finds himself kidnapped by mean lizard aliens. With the help of other captured aliens and humans, they make their great escape. And the adventure romance really begins.

A Simple & Smutty MMM Sci-Fi Short

2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣5️⃣
This novella is for readers who like steamy alien romance featuring a human and two aliens, with a light and humorous story to boot. It's a quick read, so the MCs' attraction shifts quickly from lust to love, and the language barrier isn’t a major obstacle. There are several sex scenes of varying lengths.

For my second read, I didn't enjoy the shallow, sex-filled plot as much and skimmed my way through it. As a longtime reader, it's rare for me to finish stories without substance and few details. And now I need the sex to include an emotional connection, otherwise, it's just not satisfying.

This is the only novella by D.R. that I was able to finish.

💩 So Gross: At the start, the MCs get covered with poo and blood and then later have sex several times. This made the sex scenes less enjoyable.

🤢 At 68%, Luc sees himself in a mirror and realizes he looks like warm garbage. He had only been pretending to wash in the hot springs since there wasn't any soap and few cleaning cloths.

📕 SUMMARY & SPOILERS:

MCs:
Luc, a 21-year-old human with brown hair.
Bolaico has gray and pink leathery skin, a wide segmented penis, and one milky eye. He's a bottom and a top. And can
Teranu has purple skin, a long neck, two sets of arms, and four cobalt blue eyes. He only tops.

Minor Charactes: Zenobia, Farrah and Ariel

✱ Ariel was the only character who acted like a real person, with her negative attitude and lack of blind trust. She apologizes at the end and becomes a good person, like everyone else.

The story follows the six characters who were kidnapped by lizard people. They manage to escape their cells, fight their way off the ship, and take a shuttle to a nearby planet.

On the planet, they encounter a few friendly animals: giant eagles, bats, and tigers with cute cubs. The only harmful thing is a lizard that injures Bolaico off-page.

When the pouring rain starts, they and the tigers spend several days in a cave with hot springs. A couple of sex scenes occur. Afterward, they find steps leading up a mountain. Their lizard captors return, forcing them to flee toward a town inhabited by thin, gray aliens with spindly limbs. Though the gray aliens appear simple, they possess advanced technology. The group cleans up and has nanobots inserted that work as translators.

The story ends with Ariel returning to Earth, while the others stay with Teranu and his people. Bolaico, retired from the military, needed a new place. Luca, with no friends or family and a crappy job, is glad to have found friends and family.

The Epilogue: There's a sex scene. Bolaico announces that he's pregnant. HEA.

💝 The Happy Ending: 💖
Luc is struck by how Bolaico, a fierce warrior, is having a baby with him. Overwhelmed with emotion, he sits on Bolaico’s lap, gives a quick kiss, and wraps his arms around him. He smiles when he hears his mate purr. Teranu joins, caressing Luc’s hair and touching Bolaico’s head. Luc sighs with love for his family, grateful he was abducted so he could find his mates.

2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣2️⃣
Light and fluffy with a fanciful. unrealistic feel. Everything wraps up smoothly and quickly. The MCs have no flaws. There are no major problems or angst. No world-building. Minimal descriptions.

Recommended for those who want an easy-breezy read. This is the kind of story I like when I'm tired in the evenings, and need to relax before bedtime.

Surprisingly, this was a decent read. I liked all the characters, and even had a few laughs. There were several sex scenes that although short, were sexy with tentacles involved. One of the alien MCs had tentacles around his man root (😂), for added pleasure.

Here are his external sex organs:

Cute and fun with interesting characters and ideas but I wanted more relationship building. I enjoyed the interactions between Luc, Bolaico, and Teranu but they bonded very quickly even without being able to communicate with each other in depth. I think I could have been happy with the three of them bonding with extremely limited means of communication if it would have happened over a longer period of time and with more meaningful interactions. But it was a little too insta for me.

That said, the story was entertaining. The MCs and side characters were compelling. The polyamory was sweet. The sex scenes unique and satisfying. Great bones and concept but ultimately I wanted more depth in the relationship between our three main characters.

I am obsessed with anything this author writes, manages to grab me every time and such lovable characters. The concept here was fascinating, with incredible world building and entertaining scenes.

Not forgetting the steamy scenes which are stunning, the aliens are very different from each other and yet perfectly fit with Luc. Considering the language barrier for majority of the book, still managed to communicate in their own way and I loved all the gestures as try to understand one another.

The tigers were adorable and I loved the girls so much! Zen, Farrah and Ariel all have their own stories to tell. I enjoyed seeing their strength and growth too as decide what they want to do in the future. The friendships were lovely and sweet how all work together, plenty of humour too with how the aliens flirted with Luc and the girls teasing.

Of course the romance is amazing too, with Luc falling for his two aliens during their journey and i loved their relationship. The snuggling, comfort and steam - protecting and looking after each other.

I fell in love with Bolaico, Luc and Teranu. It was amazing and only got better, once could talk to each other and their happy ending is perfect! All together in a home of their own 💕

I love these types of books, but this one didn’t do anything for me. There was no connection or expressed attraction between our leads. It was like., “Oh, there’s a man. I like men. He’ll do.” There was just no effort put into it. And the female side characters could have been omitted completely and it would not have made a single difference.

TL;DR : If you like fun books wich are super sex positive with added "weird appendages", kinda tentacles, extra arms and ridiculousness galore, this one's for you.

3* for this one, 5* for the #1.5 follow-up so rounded to 4*

Damn are those fun. It's not my favorite in the "series" but they're always a good time. It's ridiculous and sexy (because consent y'all!) and always super positive. Is it insta-love and insta-lust and completely improbable? Yes. But this is a super fun quickie that'll put a smile on your face and one I couldn't put down before I was done because I kept wondering what other kind of ridiculousness the author would come up with next.

And I just really, really like how sex and gender positive it is. Because of the #1.5 title I thought I knew who would get pregnant but nope. It was better than that. I shouldn't have doubted the author would go in a direction I didn't expect there.

Also, the #1.5 is really worth the read because I loved it even more than the book itself.

I loved this! What a fun little adventure. The characters were all great and decently developed for covering 6 of them in 140ish pages. The plot was a bit overshared in the book blurb but still enjoyable to read despite knowing the general gist of what was going to happen. I also really enjoyed the spice and the poly MMM romantic development.

There were a few minor things that felt like weird omissions or blips (like surely after being caged together for 1-2 months they would have known some of the stuff shared about each other already?) but overall, loved the story and hoping there may someday be a follow up to this one.

Sweet and sexy - the perfect combination

I absolutely loved this. It was sweet, exciting, steamy and fun. I really loved that the aliens were so well thought out and detailed. Although the world building as far as alien society went was necessarily limited because of the natural story arc (captured, escaping then surviving) there was still a beautiful physical world built. I really want there to be more stories from this world as I’d love to see different types of aliens and perhaps some more captured humans freed. Definitely going on my list of rereads!

OMG this was so good. I love the story so much and I love most characters. Also the love story was spicy and cute and the end gave me all the fluffy feelings.

I love that these alien man look very different.
I also love the world we get shown and these Tiger like beings. Omg can I please cuddle one.

Overall I would say this is my favorite book of the author so far. I adore her books so much.
