Excellent advent preparation! I thoroughly enjoyed this guided advent journal and the accompanying weekly videos by Fr John Burns. He is just wonderful!! I hope he does this for Lent!!

I also was doing the Hallow app advent challenge at the same time. Both combined to prepare me in a deeper way for the coming of Christ.

"Recognition of his coming to be with us is the culmination of this Advent journey, which now comes to a close. As we allow silence and adoration to converge, we stand in awe of God as that dark night is pierced by an endless light. As we let awe fully saturate our souls, out of silent worship our praise expands. Under the sway of grace, we slip into the type of song that makes all people wonder at our joy, peace, and love. As we sing, drawn ever closer to God, our longing is to bring all the nations to see and adore with us. We cannot help but proclaim, with the words of that treasured hymn, 'O come, let us adore him!'
"As we do so, converging at the manger with stranger and friend alike, we also discover that this journey is really not over at all. The light dawns again, and now we celebrate, please God, with hearts more fully his than ever before."

A good way to really focus on what this season each year is truly about. We need to humble ourselves in what we have in our lives and truly find the happiness in the small thing we are blessed with. Shirt, to the point and only a few pages a day needed to finish during Advent (or Bing thru the book).

Fr. John Burns guides you through a prayerful, intentional, and focused Advent preparation. Each day there is a one page reflection with a journal prompt. I found these to be helpful in guiding my prayer and keeping a focus throughout the day. Would HIGHLY recommend!

One of the better devotional I’ve read. I enjoyed his reflections. I liked that he focused on the Collect of the Mass as the starting point. Questions were worthy of reflection but I never like to write my answers in these things.

Absolutely wonderful Advent companion! Exactly the right levels of simplicity and intellectual challenge for a daily devotional. Such a breath of fresh air, helping to meditate on the lives of the Holy Family. Love love love, and will be rereading every year.

Excellent resources for any Christian. I paired this resources with the prayers to Mary and Joseph in addition to this book. I feel very refreshed in the midst of this season of materialism (which for work some of us such as retail workers can't escape).
