Anubis, God of The Dead, is missing a piece of his soul, and he knows just the archaeologist to help him find it. He only needs to convince her of that…

ANUBIS is the third book in the new series ‘Gods of the Duat’ that centers around the Egyptian gods of war, magic, and the dead. Perfect for fans of C N Crawford and Laura Thalassa, or anyone who loves god heroes and plucky archaeologist heroines searching for treasure and their own HEA.

After five thousand years living as a jackal, Anubis has managed to get back into his god form. He needs to find the stolen piece of his soul and go back to the Duat where he belongs, but trying to navigate the new world he’s woken up in is more complicated than it seems. He’s going to need someone who knows how to dig for lost pieces of the past, and his new aunties concoct the perfect cover to help him.

When Dr. Tahirah Eskander meets Anubis Akhom, she thinks he’s going to be just like every other bored, rich investor looking to add an archaeological dig to his portfolio. So what if he refers to himself as a death expert and is hot enough to make panties drop wherever he goes? She doesn’t need some amateur interfering at the tomb site that she’s devoted her life to.

Forced to work closely together, Tahirah will learn that Anubis isn’t what he seems and that he might just be the key to unraveling the lost secrets of the past and her own complicated heart.

Anubis is the third book of the ‘Gods of the Duat’ series. Please note, it is an adult paranormal romance that contains graphic violence, swearing, and steamy sex scenes.

Wow. Ok. Wwwwooooowwww...

Set and Thoth's stories really set the bar high and I was worried I may not love Anubis as much but the actual fact is, this instalment of the Gods of Duat universe was, hands down, my favourite.

We get some colliding of the three in this story as well as even more guest appearances from some of my fave Greek characters.

Alessa has an incredible skill in writing incredible MMCs but also, FMCs that are all so different, lovable and ones you want to read about continuously.

I am SO sad this is over but I am so incredibly happy to have immersed myself in this world.

Totally fiery and wholesome!

Anubis' story has been in the making ever since Set's book, and his story was everything that I had hoped for.

Tahirah was a perfect addition to this group, and beyond perfect for Anubis. It was like *chills* when all of them (Set, Ayla, Thoth, Kema and some Greek gods :)) had scenes together.

Cool plot, cool secondary arcs for both Anubis and Tahirah, and so much cool Egyptian mythology in this one! This book was everything to someone like me who's been obsessed with Egyptian mythology.

Audiobook. Library. 3.5 rounded down. Not my favorite of this set but overall I really enjoyed these 3 and the pop ups from our other Greek friends.

Fabulous Final Foray in the Gods Universe!!

This one was probably my favorite of this entire series, including both the Court of the Duat as well as the Court of the Underworld. Anubis & Tahira have incredible chemistry right off the bat. I also loved the inclusion of Isham & his bond with Anubis. There was a lot happening in this novel & I was here for every bit of it. This one was also a bit spicer than most of it's predecessors. Super hot. But definitely the best part was all the collaboration & interactions between the gods. Thoth & Set are of course present, but I was excited when Hades turned up. I liked how he & Anubis had a mutual respect, both being gods of the dead. This was an excellent wrap of to this excellent series. I feel like it was also left open a little bit to the possibility of additional books, as a few gods were mentioned peripherally that could star in additional books. Also it would just be cool to have some type of crossover featuring all of the couples from both courts banding together to fight a common enemy or something along those lines. Though I am a little disappointed that this is the last book in the Gods Universe, I'm glad that there are a couple other interesting sounding series available by this author, as I loved her fast-paced, easy to read writing style. I will definitely be reading more of her work. Bottom line: Anubis, & the 9 books preceding it, comprise a must read series for fans of Greek & Roman mythology, magic & romance. Highly recommended! 😁☺️

Sadly, I had to stop

The preface of this book and the ones that came before, is what caught my eye. Paranormal romance with reference to ancient Egyptian mythology! I was all for it. Now, I love a good PNR, or as my husband deams them: smut. Kresley Cole is my favorite author for this genre. And maybe she's set the bar to high for my reading standards, because reading Anubis and Set has really got me very displeased. The first thing that put me off was how the characters are written. The dialogue is ok, but it just seems far to casual for the situation they find themselves in. Also, I feel no connection to them. In my opinion, their inner thoughts and feels and motivations are not elaborated on enough for me to feel really pulled in. Also, the immediate sexual chemistry is not believable. It feels almost cheap. Now I was ready to put up with these little nuances but then I ready the word: "pussy". And that I just cannot abide. Romances novels by definition should be written romantically! The word "pussy" is so vulgar. There are a plethora of more.mmlets say flowery description that could be used in place of the aforementioned word.
I feel bad leaving a 1 star review as I know it's no easy feat to write an entire book, let alone an entire anthology, however I am just extremely disappointed in what has become almost a norm in modern writing. The bar needs to be raised because I crave romance, but look to be impressed and inspired.
Please do better.

It is an Alessa Thorn book! Enough said.

There is limited new information to present regarding Alessa Thorn's "The Gods" series, as it has been extensively analyzed. Her works are distinguished by their exceptional writing quality, complex world-building, and incisive dialogue. In titles such as *The Gods of The Underworld* and *The Gods of The Duat*, Thorn provides a nuanced reinterpretation of mythology. She effectively transforms ancient narratives that have persisted for millennia into contemporary romance narratives, thereby skillfully bridging the gap between the ancient and modern worlds. Moreover, her incorporation of humor enriches the narratives, adding an engaging dimension to her storytelling.

Additionally, it is important to highlight her series on the Fae, which is deemed essential reading. This series encompasses primordial gods, werewolves, Fae, elves, a human family of monster hunters, and ancient evil Formorians who seek to bring about destruction.

Thorn's series, whether they pertain to the Fae or the Gods, constitutes an indispensable addition to the collection of any enthusiast of paranormal romance literature.

This series has truly been a pleasure to read. I know when I pick up one of these books I'm in for a good time.

Anubis is more... feral... than the other gods we've met so far. Which I guess makes sense, since this series as a whole kicked off with Asterion, another being more feral than the others. Either way, seeing him work with his more animalistic side was very interesting, especially as he treated them as two entities: the God and the Jackal. I really enjoyed reading about him.

Tahira is another in a long line of interesting and varied female characters in this series. I really loved her devotion to her job and Egypt and the dead. It's easy to see why she appealed to Anubis. She has a very rocky relationship with her sister, but adores her nephew. And as some one who also adores her own nephew I relate to that very strongly. Nephews are the best.

All in all, I love this series. Of the ones in this vein I have explored, this might be in my top three (this vein being spicy, ancient, gods in modern settings). I'm sad to see it go, but happy to have found it.

What can I say? This whole series has one of the best I've read & I'll definitely be rereading all 3 of them!

It's been a while since I've read a book with a different female MC + male MC for each book, where I've absolutely loved each & every one of them! They're all different enough, & with different quirks & personalities, that even though I read these books all within the span of like 1.5 weeks, it never felt repetitive or like I was just rereading the same book over again. Which is something not most author's can do, but Alessa does it perfectly!

I love how Set & Thoth (& their consorts) make an appearance in Anubis & I also can't wait to read the Court of The Underworld series, because the cameo's a certain few Greek Gods made in this has me REALLY excited!

Highly recommend this series & will until the day I die!

Sweet

This third book in the series is very sweet and worth the read. For the other two books I gave four stars, but this one I gave three because of the story line resolution between the main female and her sister. It was abusive and the resolution was just kind of unbelievable. Not enough consequence or justice for the really wrong things that the sister did and I think without those things that abuse just gets swept under the rug. Infinite chances should not be given even to family. Other than that I loved the way the story unfolded between the two main characters and how well the characters from the other two books were incorporated.

This was my favourite out of the Duat books.
Anubis is finally found but missing his Ka. Broken or whole Anubis is hotttt, his sweet & attentive and yet just the right amount of dominate in the bedroom.
Tahirah has always loved the dead more than the living so of course she falls in love with the god of the dead.
I love how all the women in this series are strong, fierce humans who don’t take sh*t from their mighty god lovers. In fact they have their gods wrapped around their little fingers.

I really hope this series continues. I would love to see a book about Isis as well as more Greek gods. And I would love these to come out on at least paperback. As much as I love my kindle, there is nothing like the smell and feel of a physical book. This is a Anubis and human consort love story. I had everything from steamy scenes, to bombs, to betrayal to curses. I adore this series and am totally bummed it is over. I HIGHLY recommend.

For all the Mummy nerds

This is exactly what I would have imagined from The Mummy if Evie would have been destined for Anubis. This book had my hooked from the prologue. It is so beautifully written, I could see the pictures jumping out of the words. I goofed and read this book first in a long series that I cannot wait to dive into next!

I love this take on the Ancient Gods

I have devoured each of the books in this series in around a day for each book, and this one was no exception. Whilst it was clear where Anubis’ Ka was hidden, how he could regain it was unclear. What would happen to little Ishak? How could Rana be such a nasty person? When would Waheed meet his just reward? Everything was excellent.

I've died and gone to Duat!

So far this is my absolute favorite of this series. Anubis has always been my favorite Egyptian God and with good reason...this book just makes him feel so real! The way Alessa describes him, his characteristics...perfection. pure perfection! The story line is beyond incredible!

It's amazing!

This is an amazing light read that centers on Egyptian gods. I've always been obsessed with Egyptian mythology ever since and I've loved what the author did to Anubis and the others. The relationship between Anubis and Tahirah ks fluffy and not what I normally read, but loved it all the same. All in all, a recommended read.

I really enjoyed this particular book of the Gods of the Duat trilogy. Their relationship is so similar to the one I had with Jaron, so many things they do for each other and the ways they treat each other. It was lovely but sometimes hard to realize the similarities that I could no longer experience.

So much fun, like always. Everyone is endearing and it's great to see the Greek and Egyptian characters crossing over more, I hope we see more of that as the series goes on. Isis, I presume??? She better murder osirus.

Can't get enough of these sexy gods

The third book in the Gods of the Dust and Anubis is everything! Finally free from his animal state, Anubis is not complete without his Ka or his sexy archeologist Tahyriah . I really loved this series and hope there are future books

Fabulous story

Once again, I adored this romance with Anubis finding his soulmate. The story is engaging and I couldn’t put it down. The mythology is so well written into a story with the modern world it is seamless. Wonderful happy ending.

I hope there will be a 4th

I love the amount of cross over in this book. I only wish they were longer with more detail and world building. They are great quick reads but I often feel like I want more of what the author is giving

This one's plot wasnt as good as the two before it and the spice at this point is brief, repetitive and boring. If the spice had been totally left out i think it would have been better because overall the plot of this series was fun.

I‘m a little sad that there is not another in this series to read, but very hopeful that there will be one day. I’m very curious about Isis and I just know there’s so much more to this world to discover. The perfect escape.

The connection between Anubis and set in Thorns universe kinda threw me because how is Anubis more powerful? I didn’t get it. Sort of a friends to lovers situation because he was a dog/jackal when they met, the familiarity was there.

2.5⭐️

I think Anubis was a better read for me compared to Thoth.

It was pretty much the same story as books #1 & #2 which is not necessarily a bad thing but not great either. But then again, this is generally my situation by the time I get to the last book in a trilogy. I'm not excited. Also, I realise I'm not really keen on long haired MMCs😁

Tahirah was a decent FMC. Seemed more layered than Kema from Thoth.

I wish there was another book in the series but about Isis this time.

This addition to the series is adequate. Not the best, not incredibly written. I’m 10 books in at this point. Might as well keep going.
