This book right here is EXACTLY what I want in a football romance. The author obviously understands the game and put so much play into the novel, I was elated! That being said, the writing was a bit rocky, and the ending was a bit too cheesy and unrealistic for me, especially for a professional level sport (no way would any NFL quarterback sit out the first game of play-offs against their division rival to profess his love for a woman - ever!), but it still gave me all the feels and giggles!!
I really liked Dallas, the author did a fantastic job creating his character, especially making him focused and determined, but not a jerk. I felt he was super relatable and likable, as well as realistic. He had rules for the season, but didn't come off as a playboy in the off-season. They touched on his dating life briefly when his parents came to visit, but it wasn't an overplayed aspect of his life. Kim, on the other hand, I have some issues with. Her character matched up with her phase in life, however, did she not have any friends at all, aside from Jessie? She had 0 girlfriends? I feel like the author was writing her to be a bit of an "I'm not here to make friends" kind of girl, which is a total turn-off for me. I wish she had written her arc a little stronger. Dallas and Kim's rhetoric and chemistry was there, however, and I was all in for them from the start. I like that Kim was a poor post-grad and that Dallas poked fun at her without making her feel bad.
In all, there are several things I take issue with in this book, but it was a free download, it delivered times 100 on the football aspect, and I will absolutely, hands down, be reading the rest of the series! In the off season, however, when I'm in serious need of my weekly dose of football. I can't wait. :)
