Loved the continuation of this series! With each of these books, you continue to feel part of Solomon’s Island which is the setting for this book. You feel drawn into the story and the characters lives. This book is the main focus of Agnes, Clara’s sister and Grant who is a writer that is staying in the area. You want their feelings unfold throughout this book. They have their ups and downs like all the other couples in the series. You also get to see what is happening in the lives of the others from the previous books which also makes you feel part of the Island. You will want to read this book and even start from the beginning to see where the story started!
I received a volunteer ARC of this book for an honest review
Beachfront Memories: Solomon’s Island Book 5 is by Michelle Gilcrest. This series takes place on Solomon’s Island on the East Coast. Clara Covington inherited the house and money from her employer. In spite of this, she continued to work. Her sister, Agnes, came to stay with her as she got on her feet after leaving an affair with Clara’s ex-husband. Gradually, Agnes is getting on her feet. Agnes is getting closer to her dream of owning a food truck. Working at the restaurant is only temporary until her foot truck is ready for its debut. Opening is set for June 1 to honor her parents. However, all she wants today is to get some rest. It has been a long day. As she is leaving, her boss has come to talk to her. Unfortunately, it is not good. Due to hard times and slowing down of customers, she had to let two of her employees go and Agnes was one of them. Stunned, she stopped by the coffee show for a coffee to go. As she walked along the beachfront, she ran into a man and spilled her coffee on him. Horrified, she talked him into going back to the coffee shop for towels. In his stained coat, he asked her to walk with him after getting new coffee. Grant Beckman, an author here for inspiration, wanted to get to know the beautiful girl who spilled coffee on him. He was out on a walk to get inspiration to counteract his writer’s block. He had rented a house to stay in while he wrote. He was intrigued instead of being put off by her attitude. After walking and talking for a while, Agnes broke one of her summer rules. She wasn’t going to get interested in any man. She abruptly started to leave when she suddenly turned and kissed him. Then she quickly left leaving him speechless. What had she done?
Lighthouse Tours is successful in fighting off competition and Mike and Clara get married
Lighthouse Tours has someone who insists on buying them or he plans to move in and put them out of business. The town stand behind them and helps with the deposit on the Warehouse which will become a boat storage facility. Agnes is laid off, but begins working at the Warehouse which gives her time to finalize plans for her food truck opening on June 1st. Mike and Clara decide to have a small beachfront wedding and honeymoon in Hawaii. Agnes had called it off with Grant thinking a lo.g distance relationship would not work, but Grant moves to Solomon's Island permanently.
The novel was quite entertaining and well worth the reading. It was unusual in that there were actually two plots intertwining - the main scenario involving Agnes who was trying to reset her life after a vicious experience with her ex-boyfriend who incidentally was her sister’s ex-husband. She is attracted to a handsome man who is bent on traveling while she is trying to put down roots in Solomons Island. The second byline involved a single mom, young daughter with no father figure, and newly found love. Well written.
Book 5 in this series is every bit as exciting as the first. I was easily lost in the continuing ongoings of Solomon's Island and all it's colorful characters. While the author introduces a few new characters, she stayed true to the one's we've been following since book 1. I can't wait for the next book to come out because I thoroughly enjoy reading about this magical place.
I received an advance copy of this book and am freely giving my review. This was a very nice continuation of the Solomons Island series. I enjoy learning more about these characters with each book. The books are very easy to read. I look forward to spending more time with these people by reading Book 6 when it is released.
I would recommend to all that like realistic romantic stories that gives hope to all during all the unrest in which we live today. I find I am reading more & more these days to keep my perspective in life and forever keep hoping.
This is the 5th book in the series. This series NOW feels like family and I am thoroughly enjoying enjoying each and every one. I can't wait until number 6 is available.
As usual, author kept you where you could/wouldn’t put the book down. Keep going putting things in order that kept your attention one hundred percent. Now I need to get started on number six.
Follow your dreams and make them true! That’s the most important thing about this book and actually all the series. Finding love in between fulfilling dreams is a wonderful bonus.
Very frustrating that the name of Mack's ex changed. When she first sees him she calls him Ben, but then later calls him Alex until the end of the book. And then in book 6 he is called Ben again. Very distracting.
