A World of Gods and Monsters
Caitlin Sera sat down to play a game and instead found herself in a world of magic and monsters. Even worse, her first encounter was with an evil goddess seeking to feed on her soul. Courage and more than a little luck led to Caitlin not only surviving, but walking away with a God Core. Now she has to wander a new world with a few new friends by her side, trying to survive.

She is not playing in God Mode, but thanks to her new abilities, she's seeing how well she can do in Godkiller Mode. If she can master the God Core, Caitlin will be unstoppable - but her enemies will do everything they can to ensure she won't live that long.

Godkiller Mode is a LitRPG/Gamelit high fantasy novel. No harems or sexual content, just action and adventure. There is some adult language and situations but nothing beyond PG-13.

Note: The series is being released initially through Kindle Vella but will then arrive to Kindle/Kindle Unlimited a month after the end of each volume.

C.J. discovered his obsession with making up crap and writing it down at the age of 6, when he wrote his first short story, back in the days when the Cold War was still on and the only mobile devices were the wrist watch and the walkie-talkie. He's been making up crap and writing it down for fun and profit ever since.

Premise: gamer girl tries a new MMORPG, and wakes up in a "game" world that's all too real.

If you're a fan of story-driven RPGs yourself, you'll find plenty to enjoy here. That said, her character sheet is reproduced frequently to show changes to her stats and abilities, which is a little cumbersome in print. (I think showing just the items that have changed would be less awkward.) That said, this book really needed just one more pass with a copy-editor's pen. There are some missing words and a handful of grammatical errors that kept me from getting as immersed as I wanted to be.

Meh

The story was decent for the genre, but the cornucopia of inconsistencies and a poor story foundation leaves much for improvement. If food, it’d be fast food.

good book, very likable MC.

This lit RPG has everything. A very likable MC with a few caveats, plenty of action, loot, dungeon crawls, and an interesting story if somewhat predictable. The main caveats are the MC‘s marilizing after being kidnapped and tortured. That took me out of the story. No spoilers. The other problem I have is don’t leave your enemy alive so that they can come back and harm you, you need to dispatch them or caused them so much injury that they would never think about attacking you again. Authors should also stop using their main characters as punching bags. You know you’re not going to kill your MC so stop having them fight till they pass out, break every bone in there body, collapse from exhaustion. That’s just lazy riding. Let them kick butt and get on with it. Let them be overpowered but make it in an interesting way. The plot was very predictable as you will see when you read about the main baddy of the book. But the MC is so likable I’m going on to read the next book she’s not as good as the MC of defiance of the fall or we fight monsters but she has the potential to get there. Eagerly going on to the next book, it is worth the read.

Pretty good but she keeps saying her dad taught her how to fight but so far she's just flailing around. And I can't stand the adventuring team she decided to hook up with the males are arrogant and one is a a**hole and they want most of the loot ( all the good stuff )she finds plus she has to split everything 5 ways the female goblin is cool tho. I really hope she leaves them behind and teams up with the Goblin female and leaves the other 3 behind she won't get to far with them whentheytakeall the goodstuffand she acts like she doesn't care which would piss me off because they are basically riding her coat tails. And the strangest mix of ALL ancient history is weird 😐 and somewhat confusing way to much information all smashed together dnf to much going on plus the mc stuck with the first people she met and the secrets she was supposed to tell no one she told everyone. She's just stupid 🙄 I tried and really wanted to like this 😪

Fun Read!

Wow - what a fun read and super fast paced. The book was originally written in Amazon’s short serial system Kindle Vella that replicates the feel of the old Sci Fi and Fantasy Serial format from the golden age pioneered by John W. Campbell that popularized Heinlein, Asimov, and E.E. Doc Smith. Go skillet was ranked #2 for LitRPG and ranked high for a couple of other categories. By writing in the serial format, it forces the author to keep the story interesting, with each new episode.

Godkiller Mode is in the Eternal Journey Universe, but the heroine, Caitlin, takes a different path than Hawke Lightseeker and she levels up fast. Both series are very good, but in different ways.

Great story line. Good new material, new twists on old tropes. A really good read despite the usual weakness of the litrpg genre. IE a 520+ page book wasting ~ 50 pages on unnecessary repeats of the character stat sheet. Even in book of this length you only need to repeat the entire stat sheet 3 or 4 times and just state the selected delta's after most of the level ups. The storytelling is good enough not to need the filler crutch and good enough that I want more despite the padding.

Book one

Mistakes: This book needs better editing. I listed the mistakes I found on Goodreads.

Plot: Thousands of people are stolen from earth and sent to a game like universe. One of those people manages to kill a god that was eating the incoming people.

Characters: A fun story. Characters could be fleshed out more.

7/10 Book two is on Kindle Vila but in my opinion unlocking new chapters is way to expensive for how short they are.

Gods and monsters

Caitlin the MC has been permanently relocated into a RPG , she has acquired a God core so basically she is totally overpowered , this has made her a lot of powerful enemies from Gods to the usual psychopathic player and with her team Allastan,Crunch,Tilly,Dan-El,Eshai,Influx and Tranaxs , she is fighting to survive. I really enjoyed the book except for the predictability , Caitlin is virtually unbeatable and I don't think I'll continue with the series.

Naive and OP

The book starts like a nightmare, but our plucky fmc is luckily the daughter of a soldier. It might be a little cliche to start with that, but it positively adds backstory. Caitlin does seem to be changing emotionally. That is completely understandable with this abduction and new and very traumatic way of life. I love how she continually steals power for herself, I kind of like her team, and the abilities she obtains kept surprising me. I loved this book.

The MC might be OP from the start but that is the entire point; pure power fantasy.

The world building is better than expected but I also like ancient history and it's clear that author likes Sumer, Assad, Babylon, etc too. Even early Greek and Phoenician periods.

The characters are pretty standard except for the Blood powers, and, of course, the MC never min-max. They rarely do even for survival.

Great Read...

Okay, I really liked the premise and how the author introduced us to the main character as well as the litrpg environment. Very interesting character that has to struggle not to become someone the wields power because she can and not because she has to. Can't wait for the next one.

Exciting read with a female MC

Lots of action as the MC levels ups in a LitRPG world. She faces the usual monsters, bandits and dangerous situations as she joins a warband and goes dungeon diving. Who knew that she'd have to also dodge deities, while fighting off assassins before the the death god's cult can locate her. Im going to read the next book at once.... Yay!

My first litrpg

I had never tried lLitRpg before and was skeptical of the concept, but I had read some of the author’s other novels, so I decided to give it a try. I’m not a fan of the role-playing game aspects, but this is a good story with or without them. It grabbed me and at the end I wanted more.

Fun book

I actually really enjoyed this book. The MC is completely OP, but doesn't become a Mary Sue. That being said, there is a bit of modern day politics making an appearance. That's the only caveat.

Awesome Awesome Awesome

I absolutely loved this. I came across this author via Kindle Vella. I was pulled in deep from the first page. This author combines both of my hobbies writing and gaming. I can't wait to finish part two of this story.

Wow. I was looking for an in your face OP main character driven book and this one delivered.
Not sure a second (follow on) will work but I’m curious enough to try it.

Good story

Good story, well presented. Clever ideas and choices, with a strong character who is not (yet) overpowered. Looking forward to future novels!

*Update:Third book is horrible - a mindless combat slog. I'm dropping this series.*

Human transported to other world. "system" grants magic powers. yadda yadda yadda.

The protagonist is a competent woman. Yay! Who isn't constantly worrying about clothing or tripping over her own feet. Yay! (What a low bar I have.)

The key premise of this series is that the protagonist is explicitly not put on the "adventurer" path but instead on the "divine" path, which massively affects all her interactions with the new world. It rather complicates her relations with her traveling companions. "Umm, do you expect us to worship you? Because, no."
