Thus far, the plot has been a joy. The story and setting echo Pride and Prejudice vibes for me, but the characters are completely unique. I can't wait to delve deeper into them.

In early 19th century France (I think), Eugenie is feeling trapped by a world that won't let her fulfill her potential as a scientist and engineer; she's only expected to look beautiful and marry well. She rebels by escaping and borrowing men's clothes to go into town to the theater, and to ride horses astride. A young Russian noble (I think) encounters her and is charmed enough to weasel his way into her world by getting Eugene's father to hire him as her tutor. Eugenie is Not Amused, but quickly finds that her tutor is not like other men she's encountered--he encourages her engineering skills and lets her ride fast horses and generally be herself. But her tutor is not who he claims to be--he has a lot of ulterior motives in his other role that might affect people Eugenie cares about. But he also shows her that the world is wider than the narrow, noble world she has inhabited--and that many people are far worse off than Eugenie knows. Where will this go? We are still waiting to find out...

I read this in Webtoons, and it's recently been rebooted so the artist has started over and is making some changes to to the plot, so I don't know where it's going. The artwork is beyond gorgeous, very different than other Webtoons and manwhas--it looks much more hand-drawn and like old-school illustrations, but with a lot more life. Eugenie has glorious curly hair that is often on display. The characters are somewhat annoyingly gorgeous--all skinny as toothpicks and with eyes as big as their hands--but I do love their characters. While it's not unusual to have the stifled woman in an historical romance, this artist does it so well with Eugenie. She's a firecracker, so smart and reckless and longing and sometimes careless. The nobleman (I've forgotten his name, alas) is secretive and louche (apparently) and evokes Lord Byron. Anyway, a gorgeous Webtoon well worth reading!

The art is so incredible in this webtoon! Set in 1800s France and Russia, ACoS is a period drama between a smart, fiery FL and a cold, handsome ML. Lots of depth and growth in the characters that made this work a page turner for me. The horses, clothing, hair curls, character poses and expressions are drawn and rendered so magnificently - it's so rare to see such detailing in webcomics these days. I binged all chapters in one day and am so sad that the last chapter is a cliffhanger! Totally recommended for historical-romance readers.
