After facilitating the match of the season, Lady Pandora "Pansy" Osbourne, has boasted that she is the best matchmaker The Ton has ever seen. Always willing to bring her cousin down a peg or two, her cousin, Lady Octavia Sewell insists that was no feat of matchmaking at all, as the couple involved were clearly destined for one another despite Pansy’s meddling. A bitter argument ensues and a dreadful challenge is issued. Pansy must do more than say it… she must prove it.
The terms of the wager are set!
Pansy must produce no less than one match per month between people who have been notoriously unmarriageable—spinsters, bluestockings, rakes and fortune hunters, oh my! But there’s more riding on this than simply her pride! If Pansy loses, she will have to give up her most prized possession—a tiara that belonged to their grandmother will be forfeited into Octavia’s grasping hands.
The Ends Justify the Means… or do they?
Desperate to make these matches, prove her claims of matchmaking prowess to be true and make Octavia eat crow in a very public fashion, Pansy resorts to the greatest weapon in any matchmaker’s arsenal—the house party. Not just one, but a series of them. For two weeks out of every month, she will open her home to an assortment of victims…er, guests. At the end of each party, one couple will emerge either betrothed or wed, by fair means or foul.

I thought I would only read the stories by the authors who requested for review. I quickly realized that though each one is a standalone, I was caught up in the rhythm of reading the next story after finishing the previous. Each one is unique in the approach of the wager between cousins Lady Pandora Osborne and Lady Octavia Sewell. All over crowing rights of the best matchmaker and possession of their grandmother's tiara. Lady Pansy is one clever matchmaker. Each author takes their own trope as a couple find their way to a happy ending. More often than not with a little help from Lady Pansy. Even the threat of her help has a lot of influence in the outcome. My one disappointment was no epilogue of the two cousins' final admissions, although it was implied. This is one anthology to put on your TBR list. A little steam. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

This was a collection of short stories by several authors all revolving around a wager made between two elder cousins. A wager made over something both cousins covet and entails the ability of one’s matchmaker skills. Each author thereafter has a short story involving those two cousins and their wager along with the results of each couple
First, this book has stories from so many great authors. Next, The prologue is so good and leads to the great matchmaking of heroines and heroes not looking for marriage. Lastly , each story is so fun and entertaining to read.
This is such a great group of authors and books. Some sweet, some with a little spice. House parties and wagers. Two elderly cousins make a bet about matchmaking 12 couples who are unmarriageable. Very enjoyable
Love the cover!! Collette Cameron has started us off with a bet between 2 society women cousins and what a doozie. 1- Cameron also goes first with her story. The first couple are trying to get over their own imperfections. But what a way to start. A wonderful setup it is. Engaging and not without a pitfal or should I say spiteful people to help separate them. 2- I really enjoyed how Wendy Vella adds a wonderful archery contest to the romance. What a great athletic twist to add in. Enjoyed the story of a self imposed spinster. 3- Chastity Bowlin adds a private wager between bachelor cousins turns suspenseful and romantic. With the original bet 'Pansy' to encourage the couple along All of these I have read within a short amount of time because of how good they were. But alas I have to sleep sometime. 4- Jane Charles is new to me. But her book is full of riddles and guesses. However the one riddle they were asked to find, that was the most important, they did not even fathom. Bravado Jane Charles' wit! 5- Tabetha Waite I am new to her. But to be honest I was getting really mad at her. The way the book was going was VERY disappointing. I am greatful everything worked out splendidly. The heroine acts honorably throughout. So I will add her to one of my must read lists!! 6- Anna St.Claire places her bets on a horse. What a heroine. Standing up for what is humane. Lovely read. 7- Nadine Millard - I had just discovered her last week. An American comes to visit her sisters encounters a bet. I absolutely adored the last bet in this book. The over protectiveness of the brothers-in-law are hilarious and true even today. 8- Elizabeth Ellen Carter - A wonderful story that overcomes the bullies of the London ton. Well Done. Love how she takes a duet of two friends and intertwines it with the story. 9- Sydney Jane Bailey - As Lady Osborne surmises , One likes horses one likes plants. Perfect match. Hilarious reasoning. This has a steamy scene at the end , overall very engaging book. 10- Cerise DeLand - To me this was a confusing, choppy book filled with inuendos. I didnt quite understand the title. However, I enjoyed the way she wrote the ending. 11- Christine Donovan - I was actually disappointed in the ending of this book. I really enjoyed the beginning but the ending left me with a blah. It does end with a HEA, but it was blah. 12- Elizabeth Keysian, also a new author to me. I was entertained of how the lady was trying to ditch the soldier and her duplicity. But the ending and how it was worked out was well worth the time of reading. 13- Racheal Ann Smith a new to me author. Loved how this story went. It ended perfectly. Bravo for Elizabeth and her secret society. There is one steamy scene near the end. The story really caught and kept me enthralled. 14- Jude Knight an entertaining story with a village tale guiding the background of the lady. Humorous and humbling story. Greatly enjoyed. 15- Emily Royal in her regular saucy way the story was splendid. Near the end was a steamy scene. The story itself was was delightful and captured the ending perfectly. The only thing I would have added was an epilogue with the two cousins and with Pansy wearing her crown while the other is being a town crier! :) I adored most of these authors before and most stories are clean with kissing but just a touch of how that can affect men and women. Now I have found new authors to add to my reading list. I was honored to have been given a free copy so that I might tell you what I honestly think. Hope you enjoyed my review. Now go enjoy the book. ,
Lady Pandora "Pansy" Osbourne declares that she is the best matchmaker the Ton has ever seen. Her cousin, Lady Octavia Sewell, a matchmaker herself, has tired of her boasting and meaning to put Pansy in her place, makes a wager with her. Pansy must produce 12, one per month, matches between people who are considered unmarriageable spinsters, bluestockings, rakes and fortune hunters. The winner of the wager becomes the sole owner of a heirloom tiara.
A Rogue Worth the Risk by Colette Cameron Corinna is outspoken and does not always conduct herself as a proper lady. Caspian is shunned by most of society. Gossip says that he was responsible for the fire that killed his family. He is urged to attend Lady Pandora’s house party by a group of friends. When he and Corinna meet, they discover that neither of them matches the gossip that follows them. They are both smart, kind, and sometimes funny. This is an enjoyable read. There is a lovable hero and heroine, a happy ending, and a lovely epilogue.
THE LADY TAKES ALL by Sydney Jane Baily Lord Rupert Perish is attending Lady Pandora’s house party because he lost a wager and a race to friend. The house party is his forfeit. Lady Delia Barnaby is happy being a wallflower on her way to being a spinster. She is attending the party with her mother. Rupert loves horses and training and working with them. Delia loves to study and sketch flowers and other plants. Though it seems they have nothing in common, they become friends. They both dislike socializing and large groups. Neither of them is happy to be at this matchmaking party. Will their growing friendship become something more? Cute story.
WINNING IN WEDLOCK by Tabetha Waite Miss Dulcenia Hargrove is a dowdy, quiet wallflower nicknamed “Dull”cenia by “polite” society. With her father’s permission, Lady Pandora takes her under her wing with the goal of transforming her into an attractive, interesting young lady. Off they go to a house party to find a husband. The potential husband is Carew Fervine, Marquess of Dalhousie. When he receives an anonymous letter saying that his perfect bride will be at the house party, he decides to go, but makes a wager with a friend that he will not fall for the lady. Fate, and Lady Pandora, have a different idea. An entertaining story about opposites who definitely attract.
Fifteen wonderful stories by some of my favorite authors, as well as a couple who are new to me. I enjoyed them all. Does Lady Pandora win her bet? Well, somebody is seen dancing a jig as the last story comes to an end.
I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily reviewing it.
Of all the impossible things in this impossible world is a successful match between an unmarriageable woman and a man resistant to matrimony in Regency England. But the impossible is not too daunting an obstacle for Lady Pandora Osbourne when a tiara of disputed ownership is on the line...
Full disclosure before we continue: I received an Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for my review.
This was a fun collection of novellas, with one big caveat. Sometimes the stories were fun enough that I was left pining for a full-length novel version--or at least a category length version.
Among the dangerous matches included a personal favorite, a smuggler and an excise officer. What could go wrong? Elizabeth Keysian, the author of A Game of Hazard, starring the smuggler and excise officer, is brilliant with perfectly seamless historical details that effortlessly bring the world to life. She's brilliant with her terms, never clunky, so it feels like a freshening-up of the world of Regency historical romance that many of us are very familiar with. And I learned about weighted dice! I love the less-than-conventional characters, I love that one of them had to give something up to attain their happily-ever-after, and I love the direction they decided to take their life. There is one clever bit that entailed lead, a bit of flour, and an undertaker, but I won't spoil how that one came together. Made me laugh! Not a scene one reads everyday.
I would recommend this collection to those who love Regency romance. The sweetness of the tone was only broken by the way some of the main characters derided the secondary characters (maybe they deserved it, but in any romance, that needs to be handled carefully, and in sweet romance it can be at odds with the intended the tone), in stories won't call out by name, but I feel compelled to mention in case some readers are sensitive to that dynamic.
There is something for everyone: Beauty and the Beast, pasts that must be confronted and reckoned with, unrequited love, second chances, confirmed spinsters, revenge, and so much more...all under the tidy umbrella of where will Lady Pandora Osbourne meddle next?
This was the first time I read an anthology, since I usually prefer longer stories that really dive into each character deeply. This collection was a marvelous surprise! It started with a very intriguing wager between two cousins, members of England's high society, also known as the "Ton". The premise of the wager was to test the matchmaking abilities of Lady Pandora Osbourne, who was dared by her cousin, Lady Octavia Sewell, to complete 12 matches in 12 months. However, the people eligible for said wager had to be among the wallflowers, spinsters, bluestocking, rapscallions or confirmed rakes. With a set-up this good, each story came like a breath of fresh air! I especially loved the first short story by Collette Cameron, entitled A Rogue Worth the Risk, and "A Wager Worth Winning" by Nadine Millard. Both stories have so much heart and both leading ladies captivated my attention due to their spirit and wit. At first, when I started the book, I was thinking of only reading a few stories, by the authors I was familiar with. However, much to my surprise, I ended up flying through the pages. And at the end of every single story, I even added the respective series to by TBR ;)
The Boast—pride goeth before the fall... Not just one, but a series of them. For two weeks out of every month, she will open her home to an assortment of victims…er, guests. At the end of each party, one couple will emerge either betrothed or wed, by fair means or foul. This is a great anthology full of misunderstanding and wagers. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
I absolutely LOVED every one of these stories, each written by a different author, but linked together by a single wager between 2 matchmaking cousins. I was amazed how each storyline was totally different , yet so sweet. I fell in love with each hero and heroine and enjoyed watching how they got out of scrapes, scandals and screw ups. I loved the length of each story so as not to have the plot dragged out too long. One story seemed to be a little short, maybe rushed a bit, but all in all a wonderful read!
I’m an avid reader of historical romance, I read fast and cannot abide unskilled writers. THIS collection I’ve enjoyed so much, thank you ! I’m amazed how all of these different writers brought one lovely story together. I’m amazed, it’s lovely. Thank you Babs
The ton’s premiere matchmaker seals her reputation as one love match after another lead to happy marriages. Expect a bit of steam in the process. Highly recommended!
A collection of short stories based around a wager between cousins who both believe themselves brilliant match-makers. Lady Pandora -Pansy must match twelve couples within the next twelve months or forfeit her grandmother's tiara. Not just any couples but ones chosen by her cousin, all seemed to have one partner socially awkward. A nice theme, so not sure why fifteen books in the collection, but not going to complain about extra books. Bit of a mixed bag, some well written, decent plot given a short story , and others riddled with errors, - plot, - wrong words used, - poor spelling. On the whole an enjoyable read.
I loved these stories ! The setup of having to match a determined bachelor and a debutant who for some reason is considered unmarriagable just works. Each story with the chosen couple is entertaining . Having different authors makes the couples entertaining as well as unique.
An anthology of novels by a number of my favorite authors makes for delightful and entertaining reading. Fiercely competitive cousins set out to prove their prowess as matchmakers, with a wager thrown in to make it worth winning. Certainly, anyone receiving an invitation from Lady Pansy Osbourne should tremble given her reputation. Most of the characters are flawed in one way or another, making it difficult to find their perfect soul mate. However, Lady Pansy has an uncanny ability to see beyond the obvious to the possibility of a happily ever after. Each of the novels can be read in an evening and I found them witty and romantic. By the time I got to the last book, I even found myself cheering Lady Pansy on in her endeavors. I received a copy of this anthology as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
A delightful selection of short stories. The common thread is a wager between Lady Pandora Osbourne and Lady Olivia Sewell. Pansy declares that she is the best matchmaker but her cousin Olivia disagrees and makes her a seemingly impossible bet. Pansy needs to get society's most difficult cases (wallflowers, bluestockings, scoundrels etc.) matched up with people that are not even looking for marriage. At stake is Grandmother's tiara, a coveted family heirloom. Each story, written by a different author, takes place at a house party where Lady Osbourne is present. The elderly lady manipulates the guests in various ways trying to come up with the desired result. The bickering between Pansy and Olivia adds a comedic element to the stories. The stories also give a small nod to the other work of the authors. I must give a shout out to author Emily Royal who provided me with a free ARC. Her story "A Christmas Wager" is the final of the collection. The Duke of Peterton, a central character in her "Scholars of Seduction" series makes an appearance as the hero's friend. I had happy tears in my eyes as I finished reading. I received a free ARC and this is my unbiased review.
The Wedding Wager is a phenomenal collection of 15 standalone stories, each by a different author. There is one thing that ties all of these stories together. A wager between cousins Pansy and Octavia for the prize of their grandmother's tiara. All Pansy has to do is match 12 couples in a year, rogues and wallflowers and hopeless with rogues and uncatchables. What could possible go wrong? These are fun stories. I enjoyed all of these books, some more than others. There are too many for me to write full reviews on each, so I'll mention my favorites were by Elizabeth Keysian, Wendy Vella and Collette Cameron. The things all of these books had in common, drama, humor, spice and suspense.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from Bookfunnel. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
First off I went straight to the part written by my favorite author, Chasity Bowlin and it, as per usual, was WONDERFUL! Very believable, engaging and sweet! I can just see the words in her books, like a movie in my mind! Forget Calgon… Ms. Bowlin’s books, TAKE ME AWAY! LOL! Although it was quite a bit tamer than her usual, the mind knows what avenues they truly explored. Then, after her chapters, I started from the beginning! Each story had their own characters and twists to enjoy. You won’t regret using your free time to indulge in this book, it’s time well spent! Plus, If you can’t take a large amount of time out to read a whole book, these stories aren’t too long to enjoy one at a time. Just be sure to use a bookmark!
I like anthologies as they are short stories that can easily be read during whatever time you have. This has such a fun theme running throughout that it makes it hard to stop with just one story. It starts with Collette Cameron's story where two society cousins make a bet. Pansy must make twelve matches within a year between spinster, bluestockings and wallflowers to rakes, and fortune hunters. The shenanigans she goes to set up each couple is both humorous and impressive. Each story is well written and unique despite the theme running throughout. Definitely a book to read and enjoy.
This book is a collection of short stories from different authors but all with the same story line. The first story outlines the bet where Lady Osboure is the ultimate matchmaker. Each story goes on to detail a particular match. This is a great way to be introduced to new authors. I loved every story in this book and each HEA. I can't wait to explore more from the new authors I discovered
This is a delightful set of short HEA romances by 15 amazing authors. Each one is written based on the same theme but each one is very individual and all are a wonderful read. I found it hard to put down as I finished each one. This is a great way to get to read new authors. I haven’t finished all of them yet but there was no sex and the language is very acceptable. I received this as an ARC and freely give my review.
The Wedding Wager is a great compilation of romance stories. A Rogue Worth the Risk by Collette Cameron This is a really fun story with a few twists and turns that I didn’t expect. Cameron is one of my favorite authors. I enjoy her humor and I love to hate her villains. Looking forward to her next book.
This is just a wonderful compilation! So many of our favorite authors put this together in such a clever way. Witty and delightful, these matchmakers are out to best one another with a series of house parties designed to produce matches. So many great stories in one collection at one low price. A must read
PROLOGUE - I enjoyed the set-up for the books to come in the anthology, this will be fun!
A ROGUE WORTH THE RISK by Collette Cameron - It didn't take long for me to fall in love with Caspian Graystone, Baron Strathmore aka the gossip's name for him "the blackhearted baron". I thought he was going to be a brooding, crabby hero but he quickly showed his kind, tender and funny self. Corinna was a character in one of the author's previous books, so I knew I would love her in this and she did not disappoint - her honesty, hoydenish antics and her kindness shined brightly. I thoroughly enjoyed the ending & the epilogue!
ODDS ON AN EARL by Anna St. Claire - I loved the plot which was based around horses. The setting of a country house party was great & I appreciated the fact that Nick's mother stated it was to be a short house party, so you knew things would move quickly. I felt the pace was just right, there was always something happening, but it never felt rushed. Nick & Alora were the perfect couple - they had so much in common; loved the same things, disliked the same things, and I was so happy they found each other.
THE LADY TAKES ALL by Sydney Jane Baily - Lord Rupert Perish's main love in life is horses, but now he is attending a matching making houseparty for two weeks, after losing a wager and horse race to his friend. Lady Delia Barnaby is fine being a wallflower and spinster, she loves studying the garden flowers or weeds and making drawings of them. Her Mother tricked her into going to a houseparty, not a regular one but one hosted by Lady Osbourne, the matchmaker. When Rupert and Delia meet, they both commiserate on hating the large groups, matchmaking parties didn't thrill either one of them. Their friendship builds throughout the houseparty and oh, what a fun time they have!
WINNING A WALLFLOWER by Wendy Vella - Miss Ivy Birdwhistle's first season was a failure when she was tricked by a gentleman and almost ruined. It's been four years; she is a wallflower, but she has agreed to support her cousin and go to a house party and then she may become a spinster in the country at her aunt and uncle's estate. Bramstone Nightingale has come back home, after being gone four years making his fortune, and is attending a houseparty at his mother's demand. The first person he runs into (literally) is Ivy - she is shocked for he is the man who rescued her in her first season but luckily Bram does not recognize this changed wallflower. What a fun romance they have - archery too, must be Cupid's arrows!
WINNING IN WEDLOCK by Tabetha Waite - Miss Dulcenia Hargrove, nicknamed Miss "Dull"cenia Hargrove by society, has been taken under the wing of matchmaker, Lady Pandora Osborne. After two weeks of makeovers, Lady Osborne and Dulcenia are on their way to a house party to see if the new Dulcenia can win a husband. Carew Fernvine, Marquess of Dalhousie, was sent an anonymous letter stating they had found the perfect wife for him - he has no interest in marrying but is curious to see how the lady mentioned in the letter, Miss Dulcenia Hargrove has blossomed into an enchanting young woman. The gentlemen's wager, the matchmaker's plan and Carew and Dulcenia's journey of opposites coming together was such fun. Loved this story and the characters!
SCANDALOUS WAGER by Jane Charles - Miss Vanessa Claxton, seventeen in her first Season and Lord Crispin Tilson, twenty met and formed a secret young love but adventure called to Crispin, and he left her behind. Nine years later Crispin, the finder of all things, and Vanessa, the thief finder, are asked to team up to find a missing gem. Will they solve the riddles, experience a second chance on love while searching for the gem? Wonderful and fun couple with an entertaining story!
There is nothing better than when two old ladies decide to interfere with others. In this case, it leads to 15 stories of impossible romance. I loved all of the stories, but my favorite hero was War from Chasity Bowlin’s A Private Wager. This book is a good bet!
This is a book I pre-ordered as soon as I heard about the story line and the author line-up! The premise of this anthology is very simple – Lady Osbourne must match 12 “unmarriageable” women with confirmed bachelors over 12 months or lose her grandmother’s tiara to her cousin Lady Sewell. Lady Osbourne is up to the challenge! What ensues is a fun and enchanting collection of stories where characters, seemingly with nothing in common, find their happily-ever-afters. Get your cup of tea or coffee ready because you are going to love this anthology!
A Rogue Worth the Risk by Collette Cameron Caspian Graystone, Baron Strathmore, also known as the Blackhearted Baron, is a pariah to Society due to circumstances beyond his control that occurred six years ago. Corinna Brockman isn’t entirely opposed to marriage but refuses to be any man’s chattel. It was so much fun watching these two come together. Corinna’s honesty and kindness pulled Caspian out of himself. The banter between the two is characteristic of Collette Cameron and truly delightful!
Winning in Wedlock by Tabetha Waite Miss Ducenia Hargrove – shy, mousy, dressed in grey and brown because her aunt tells her to do so, trips over her own feet, is overlooked by all, and is resigned to being a spinster. Carew Fernvine, Lord Dalhousie – confident, handsome, clever, considered a catch by all the ton but has no intention of marrying. Lady Osbourne takes Dulcenia under her wing and prepares her for a house party where Lord Dalhousie has been coerced into attending. Carew annoys Dulcenia so much that for once she doesn’t have to think about what she is going to say. Witty repartee flows from her! I loved the characters in this wonderful opposites attract trope!
The Lady Takes All by Sydney Jane Baily Lady Delia Barnaby’s only passion is examining and drawing plants. While she should be meeting men, she much prefers the company of nature. Lord Rupert Perish’s passion is horseflesh and an unfortunate loss in a horse race lands him at Lady Osbourne’s house party. He attempts to dodge all the desperate women at the party – since he wasn’t on the original guest list, he assumes he isn’t included in Lady Osbourne’s wagers. But does enjoy the company of Lady Delia. The transformation of Delia from wallflower to tiger lily and overcome her fear of horses is quite entertaining! I loved how two outsiders came together and found friendship and love!
The Raven’s Last Bet by Cerise DeLand Henry “Harry” Seymour Wallace returns home from war injured, to find he is the heir-apparent to his father’s dukedom since his brother’s death the month prior. In addition to hearing about his brother’s debts, mistresses, and illegitimate child, he is told he is betrothed to a childhood friend. Miss Sara Fleming has been Harry’s close friend from the age of four, but his father considered her below their rank. She is angry to find out she is now betrothed to Harry, especially when it is clear the betrothal is for the dukedom’s financial gain. Sara wants out of the betrothal, but Harry seems to enjoy the idea. Harry never forgot the kiss they shared before he went off to war, even though they were only teens. There are a lot of emotions on their road of betrothal. But what a great story!
So far, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed each story. The wonderful thing about anthologies is you can read your favorite authors and meet new ones at the same time. Each story is well-written with delightful characters, drama, humor, love, romance, and friendship, with the house party theme carried throughout. This is definitely a book you will enjoy and where you will find a few new book boyfriends!
Thank you to the authors and publisher for the Advanced Reader Copy. I voluntarily read the book and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
A wonderful collection of novella's centered around a challenge between two spinsters on who can match the most couples! The setting is a series of house parties! Wonder who will win?
A Rogue worth the Risk - Collette Cameron As always, Collette creates her swoon worthy characters and with a name like Caspian Graystone, can't you just get a picture? Having stayed away from society since a tragedy that left him scarred, he is persuaded by his friends to attend a house party. It is there that he meets Corinna, one of his friend's sister and although neither thought they would want to marry, the attraction just may change that! A delightful story that will make you smile!
Scandalous Wager - Jane Charles When a couple that had met when much younger meet again at a house party, it remains to be seen if what would happen! She had thought they had been falling in love with other when he just took off. The two are thrown together to try to find a missing gem, but it seems they may find much more and reignite their love! A wonderful second chance romance not to be missed.
Winning in Wedlock – Tabetha Waite
Odds on an Earl - Anna St Claire There was no way not to fall in love with this story was centered around horses! When two people who were determined not to marry meet, you never know what will happen! Nick was forced to accompany his mother to a house party, but he took his new colt so that he would have an excuse to be away from the festivities at times. When the colt was being abused, Alora heard the sound and rushed out to see what was happening. She was able to calm to horse and that is when she met Nick. Of course a wager is set in place by one of the matchmakers and the stage is set! I adored this story and as usual Anna tugs at the heart!
The Lady Takes all - Sydney Jane Bailey
The Raven’s Last Bet - Cerise Deland An injured son returning home from war after six years, finds his brother has died and now he is now heir to the dukedom. Plus, his father has signed papers for his marriage to help bring in much needed money to payoff debt and keep the estate running. Then of all ladies, he was to marry Sara. The girl he wanted to marry before he was shipped off to Spain! When they met after all these years, well, you will just have to find out by reading this fantastic story! I loved Sara and Harry and you will too!
A Game of Hazard – Elizabeth Keysian A lady who must protect an inherited smuggling operation, especially from a Captain, who would gain much for exposing her. But a matchmaker has them in her sights and who knows what will happen? Such a delightful story, with Alex and Giles being pushed together, but feeling an attraction immediately. But the twist is will her occupation have him arresting her or marrying her? So much fun, it will only make you smile!
The Husband Gamble – Jude Knight Amaryllis (love that name!) need to find a match but knew it would be difficult after the scandal.. Disappearing from her would be wedding and not appearing again until much later. So she had hopes the matchmaker would help. Hythe was ready to find a wife, but he was not much for social events and hoped the matchmaker could help. Well it seemed these two came to the right place!
I loved every one of the stories in this anthology by some authors I was already familiar with and also some new ones for me. I’d received an advance review copy in order to read and review the story by Janes Charles but I ended up reading all fifteen authors’ offerings. They are all worthy of 4-5 star reviews. Janes Charles offering is about Miss Vanessa Claxton who during her first season fell in love with Lord Crispin Tilson. They had several secret meetings but it didn’t go further than that as Crispin was to take off on his grand tour and adventures. Nine years later they meet again at a house party sponsored by Lady Pandora Osborne, known for her matchmaking skills. Unbeknownst to Vanessa, Crispin had returned two years previously but he never looked her up assuming she had married. Lady Osborne invited each of them to search and find a lost heart jewel. Vanessa and Crispin each wagered they would be the one to find the heart. This was a lovely, sweet romance with very likable characters and a nice flow to the writing.
