Okay this one might be my favourite one so far haha I can't make my mind up!
In this Amelia Fang adventure, everyone is celebrating Florence's Grand-Yeti's 350th birthday at the Yeti Mountain Pits, but things begin disappearing and when the mountain begins to collapse, it traps Amelia and her friends inside, leaving them to solve the mystery!
The atmosphere in this one was definitely quite tense with the characters being isolated and trapped with a mountain falling down around them - but it brings about fundamental moments for these characters, further developing their bond and characterisations. Any threat to their friendship feels personal, so I was extremely invested in the outcome of this one.
I loved exploring the Yeti Mountains too! This series is fantastic at constantly expanding the world of Amelia Fang and it's my favourite thing about this series. It's bizarre but it feels real because of the attention to detail and illustrations provided throughout. I love it so, so much. I'm an Amelia FAN(g) for life!
Amelia is off to the deep pits of the Yeti mountain to celebrate Florence's Grand-Yeti's 350th birthday. There's lots of birthday bum bounces, flouncing and SHOUTING. But things get weird when people keep loosing all their glittery treasures, and the mountain starts to crack around them. Can Amelia and her friends find out who's behind it all before it's too late?
This was full of Yeti fun, and I really enjoyed seeing Florence and her family in their home. The Yeti's are great characters, so full of bounbless energy and a love for life that it's hard not to get invested in their story. I also liked the description of their home. It's a bit like a rabbit warren, with tunnels connecting each home all built by Florence's dad.
The plot, again as with all these books, is fast paced and full of interesting turns that all connect to complete the story at the end. No spoilers, but I really, really loved the ending of this one. Super cute and fluffy.
Yet more high jinxes with Amelia, if you liked the previous books you'll love this one too. Highly recommend for younger readers - my daughter loves this series.
Amelia Kulmurin maailma on ihastuttavasti vinksahtanut Roald Dahlin tyyliin.
There is such fun and laugh out loud moments of silliness from Birthnight bums and ‘I‘m gonna call you Dave’ to a Willy Wonka inspired elevator and fizzy lifting drinks style element, and a Titanic inspired moment that had me setting myself. Laura Ellen Anderson continues to deliver on the deliciously twisted and nonsensical fun. Florence is possibly my favourite character from this series and this book celebrates her Yeti-ness with appearances from other rare breeds of Yeti too including her grandmother and father.
Whilst friendship and learning to get along and choose kindness has always been central to the Amelia Fang books The Lost Yeti Treasure is exceedingly clever in how Laura Ellen Anderson helps the young reader to resonate and work through problems with friends in their own lives in a beautiful way exploring the problem with a no-blame mindset but pursuing a solution that works for all rather than one or none and is written in such a way that it feels natural rather than ‘After School Special’. Both my daughters (6 and 3) adore Amelia Fang and this has been no exception, we thoroughly recommend this fantastically funny book!!
This was a fun delightful read that had me laughing.
Amelia is spending a weekend with her friends Tangine, Grimaldi, and Florence, in the Yeti mountains to celebrate a Great Yeti's 350th birthday! Only there are a few issues: 1. Amelia wants to leave the party a little early so she can attend a party for newbies to the Pumpkin club she has joined. This does not go down well with Florence who feels Amelia won't want to be her friend anymore now she has made new friends to share her passion for pumpkins with. The way Anderson tackles friendship and broadening one's social circle and how this can leave some people feeling threatened and scared at the potential loss of a friend and insecure that they are not a good friend, took me back to when I felt that way a very long time ago when my birthdays were still in single digits. 2. Shiny glittery things are going missing and ruining the party! And it all started when Amelia and her friends arrived... 3. Cracks are appearing in the walls and these cracks are leading to parts of the mountain collapsing so an evacuation must take place. But where will the yetis live?
(2 and 3 may or may not be linked)
I loved the food description, the belching drink, the butt bumps, the pumpkins, EVERYTHING. I love this world which is so fun and wholesome and innocent and everything comes right in the end. The illustrations are brilliant and the story had me laughing at a time when laughter is needed. I hope there are more adventures for Amelia Fang and her friends to come!

I absolutely love the Amelia Fang series. Chapter books were really intimidating for my 6 year old, but this series captured her interest from the start and really got her over that fear. From Book 1, she consumed them voraciously, eagerly anticipating their arrival from the UK, and reading them together was actually enjoyable. There are many children's books that can be boring and a chore to read together, but I found myself eager to read these and find out what happened next. Anderson's humor is on point for kids and adults alike, and she teaches some really important life lessons in a fun and accessible way.
Another adorable Amelia Fang story, this one focused more around Florence and her family of rare breeds of yeti!
This one was a bit slower to get going in my opinion, and a bit less adventerous, but still very fun! I loved that it showed Florence that it’s okay to have friends outside of their group, because that’s something a lot of kids seem to struggle to understand. Overall, another very cute story!
My daughter (11) picked this up at the bookstore some time ago. Already then I asked her whether it's for smaller kids (we just finished the His Dark Materials trilogy before this), but she insisted. Now that I read it to her--yes, we still do bedtime stories and I love it--it did feel a bit childish after the quite elaborate fantasy worlds we've recently explored. But, she didn't seem to mind and which dad doesn't like fart jokes, I ask you?
Another adorable adventure with Amelia and the gang. I love the little touches of perhaps more adult humour, such as a chapter titled "Draw Me Like One Of Your Yetis." Perfect illustrations as always. The page colours alternating between white on black and black on white make it much more interesting and add to the spooky feel.
I love this series!! I love these characters so much and I’m so glad that we got a more ‘Florence focussed’ story. I loved getting to know all of the other yetis and seeing the similarities between them all. I had absolutely nothing negative to say about this story and this series!
Proč mizí třpytivé věci obyvatel a především, kam zmizel Tangine.
I liked that this story focused on Florence's family and how the yetis live. I hope Grimaldi gets some focus too, I adore him. Just beware if you're claustrophobic, there's a lot of enclosed spaces!
