After all of this flashback chapters, I'm at my limit.

I just feel bad for everyone in this story. This is seriously missing tragedy tag (/TДT)/

This story ended up being completely different from what I expected. It has such dark tones. I've thought it'd only be a mother's redemption story but it has hardships of motherhood, being in a postpartum depression and results of a loveless marriage. Wow no wonder she did in her first life. I'm not condoning her child neglect but now that I understand her perspective, I cant help but really feel sorry for her. The level of mental breakage she's been through I wouldn't even be able to survive.

What I cant understand ,at least so far, is why the fuck Harsen ignoring her every action. I cant believe this piece of shit is turning a blind eye to it all and in effect ignoring her which further triggers her depression. It was Harsen who broke her. I mean; God this is too much. She was getting more and more anxious from her depression. Ercella was mentally and emotionally fucked, no wonder she took it out on her son T^T Postpartum depression is really scary :(

I was really bored and had reading slump for these days, thats why i choose to read some manhwa lately. And then i got this. MADE ME CRY LIKE A BTCH EVEN ONLY ON CHAPTER 28.

EVERYTHING IS SO COMPLICATED. The mom (FL) die because poison or something then she realized that her relationship with her son was so bad. Then with the power of IDK she's back to 3 years ago and want to fix their relationship. It works. THANK GOD. BUT THEN SHIT TAKE THE WHEEL. The story continues with her flashback 'why she's so cold with her son and why her relationship with her husband going bad' etc. DAMN. THE ANGST.

The wife just want her husband to be with her.
The husband just want his wife to say 'i love you too' to him.
And the son, just want to know is his mom are regret for giving birth to him.

EVERYTHING IS SO SAD. I'm so sad. I really want to hug every characters here. Its so early chapter and i cant wait any longer.

review of the entire series

Ersellla is a woman who lives a life enviable by everyone. Born as the daughter of a powerful marquess family known for producing a lot of empresses, Ersella becomes the wife of a duke and the sister of the empress, but her life is not as perfect as it seems. When everyone expects her to be happy, she herself can't seem to understand why she isn't and remains in denial and never actually tries to fix what's wrong with her life. It talks about how vague and imperfect the whole concept of happiness is, and how even a wishstone created by the goddess would also provide an imperfect realisation of the desire to be happy.

When given a second chance at life, she tries to become happy by fixing her relationship with her teenage son and her husband. There is no perfect redemption, and all her misdeeds didn't magically disappear to just give her a blank slate, like in most regression stories, where the guilt is only with the MC, and everyone else is blissfully untouched by hurt. All of them have done wrong, and all of them come face-to-face with their mistakes and past sins. The mother Ersella, neglected her child whos now become an indifferent teenager and treats her mother as a weak and incapable flower that depends on his father. The husband Harsen, an emotionally unavailable man who couldn't understand his wife's depression and didn't know that to do with her, chose to remove himself from the whole dynamic instead of trying to fix the mother-son relationship. also later on, we find that in respone to his insecurities of Ersella not loving him, he tries to isolate her from everyone and make her depend on him so she won't leave him. We see that Ersella, the noble, perfect lady, is not as powerful as everyone thought, but is restricted in every aspect of her life due to her station. Her husband's whole household thinks of her as the 'enemy's daughter', and she ends up becoming trapped and only enjoying borrowed power that comes from her husband or her son.

The real change starts when she brings in Adele as a lady-in-waiting. Adele, having the vantage point of an outsider, perfectly gauges Ersella's situation and even clocks the son Vincente about how her mother is only respected as a wife and a mother nd not as her own person and is not allowed any freedom at all. Although his father loves his mother, whether that love is right for her. Vincente notices how his mother's life is and finally makes an effort to understand her and even stands up to his father and challenges that he'll never be able to move his mother's heart this way.

The story is really sad and delves into heavier themes like depression, neglect, and isolation. All the characters are really complex and lively. You really can't hate anyone when faced with all the different perspectives. I read all of it in a single night, which I really don't recommend cause it's a lot to take in and left me feeling empty. A story about finding happiness when it's really difficult to even define what happiness means for a person. Its a journey of finding that imperfect happiness that's uniquely yours, about choosing your own happiness and ending the cycle of hurt and pain. its filled with imperfect characters and imperfect relationships. There is no promised salvation or a perfect ending even; it's all about realising what works best for you, what you choose for yourself, and sticking with it, and honestly, that was so beautiful.

Finally, the ending, I have to say I have nothing against the MC's choices and really respect that instead of just falling into the same cycle of hate, she chose her happiness. Besides, the male lead had better spend his whole life repenting instead of just dying, which wouldn't solve anything, and Ersella would just end up losing the last of her family after she realised that she loved him too. This choice is backed by the Emperor's story, where we see how, until the end, he couldn't admit his love for his wife and just ended up hurting everyone around him. he destroyed his wife's whole family even though he married her cause he needed her to ascend the throne. At the end, his love died, his wife, whom he eventually came to love, died without him ever showing her any care, and his brother ended as a traitor. He refused to end his revenge, and in the end, ended up alone, haunted by the ghost of his dead wife. In contrast, Ersella chose happiness for herself, which was her decision to love her son and her husband and to spend her life with them. The story really reflects real life and how these imperfect people make do with their lot in life and try to be happy.

Man this made me cry and since it's some time in the early morning, I feel like explaining a little bit about why it hit me so much. At it's core, the story is about regret. Though it starts off as a mother's regret about neglecting her child, you get the perspectives of both father and child that really paints their relationships in a grey area. There is no character that is strictly in the wrong or the right, they just have their choices.

The MC Ecrella suffering from post partum depression is really heartbreaking and really an under used plot point in this genre. To see some of the things I've experienced in art form really is something else.

It definitely wouldn't strike me as everyone's cup of tea, but it's certainly part of mine.

Ch 28.

This is too angsty for my own health so I spoiled me the happily ever after end and I drop it.
Seriously I cannot stand the postpartum depression trope it's just too much. Yes I am a weakling.

Buuut
Just imagine the fl looking at his baby and asking herself why she doesn't love him. It's heartbreaking and I just cannot get it out of my head, and I spoiled myself aaaand there's a lot A LOT of more angst. I can't stand it so I am gone

I think it's the first history that I drop for this reason

I honestly hate this one. The mother (Protagonist) is leaving a bitter aftertaste in my mouth. Neglecting your child in your previous life and blaming him for taking your "youth and freedom" for the choice you made for yourself is just BS to me. I know she's given another chance to make things "right" but it still doesn't. She regressed when her son was already a teenager, near being an adult. The scars, the trauma, and the pain she inflected cannot be overlooked just because she's acting nice. Maybe I'm mirroring myself but it's making me uncomfortable. Her approach is just making me angry. I don't know. Maybe it's just me but I'll try to give it another chance. After all, this is the third if it still has a bitter taste... I'll drop it.

I’ve been reading a lot of manga, manhwa and webtoons. This one really stood out. We follow our lead as she navigates her life and marriage. There is a questioning of her assumptions, her mistakes and her dreams and desires.

There was a complexity here which was both painful and honest. I started the second season but I’m going to take my time with this. This made me cry 😢

This is heavier and more intense than the isekai/reborn/going back in time stories that I usually read. But, I still really enjoy the story.
