Gingerbread & the Guy Next Door was originally published as part of the Sugar & Spice Nights multi-author series of holiday-inspired instalove.
Piper Cook writes sexy insta-love stories with strong, curvy leading ladies and their hot male counterparts. Guaranteed HEA without cliffhangers or cheating.
I am loving these instalove quick reads. I gobbled this one up.
Hope and Drake are next door neighbors. Drake is a playboy but he is ready to settle down. Hope owns a bakery and she cannot deny the chemistry between them but is wary of his reputation.
It was was going to be a 4 star read until we got to the smexy. Soooo cringe it hurts. Teeth grinding and facepalm cringe.
That girl doesn't have pussy, she as a "weeping center", a "creamy center" 🤢🤮 or "tight folds" among other too cringe to mention parts. And the description is too mechanical, as was the plot after 50%
I am allergic to gingerbread cookies. That should have been warning enough.
I was drawn in by the "friends to lovers" description of this novella. I'm not typically a novella girly, but friends to lovers is the only trope I kind of enjoy in them. I don't like instalove/instalust, so friends to lovers naturally would make the most sense. There's history between the characters, and it's not just like, "I just met her, and now I'm gonna marry her."
Deceived. They were not friends. They were neighbors who stopped talking because he thought she was trying to use him for his status? As the town bachelor? All it took for him to hear wedding bells afterward, though, was for her to climb around him to be seated at a town event. There was nothing sexual about it, but he wanted her THEN.
And she wanted him back. But she had to protect her heart... which lasted less than 24 hours due to the oven in her home deciding to stop working.
The language and descriptions in this novella were so odd. Between "boobs that bopped to the beat of her heart," "steamy in between the thighs goodness," and "an erection that could crack cement," I could not take this seriously. The man could poke her with a spoon, and she would "have an Earth shattering O."
This was not my cup of tea. My "wtf" look was permanently etched on my face the entire time I was reading this.
Spoilers below **** . . . . . .
At the gingerbread judging, Drake tells Hope that he loves her... and of course, she says it back because after one night, she did. It appears they date for 5 minutes, she met his parents and then he proposes to her in front of his whole family. They were all in tears and happy for him.
So, friends to lovers, this was not. This was "met in passing a couple times" to lovers.... plus cookies
Gingerbread & the Guy Next Door by Piper Cook is part of the multi-author Sugar & Spice Nights series. Hope owns Hot Mess Catering, the name is parallel to her real life, and lives in the small town of Cranberry Corner. About a month ago she moved into a new house with Drake Jenkins as her new next door neighbor. Drake is a serial dater and perpetual bachelor. This thirty-six year old has won the award as the Most Eligible Bachelor in Cranberry Corner for several years in a row now. So when the curvy beauty moved in next door he was happy to meet her and turn on his charm. Hope initially would come over with cookies or the extras from her catering jobs for him. But all of a sudden she stopped and could not get away from him quick enough when they would meet across their driveways. What Drake really wants this year for Christmas is Hope.....and to have her as his wife so he does not win the award next year. When they end up sitting next to each other at the city council meeting where they announce the winners for the upcoming holiday events, Hope has put a bid in to make the Gingerbread House decorating kits and Drake is there for his award, it sets off series of events that soon finds them baking up a lot of gingerbread and setting the sheets on fire.
I really loved this story. It is well written, has a fun story-line and great characters. It definitely puts you in the mood to bake up some gingerbread and get the frosting out.
Hope owns Hot Mess Catering. The Cranberry Corner’s City Council is set to announce the bid winners for all of the significant holiday events. Hope put in a bid to bake cookies for the annual gingerbread house decorating contest. At the meeting, she is seated next to Drake Jenkins, her next-door neighbor.
Drake has a reputation of being the town playboy. Every year, he has been named the most eligible bachelor in Cranberry Corner. He is 36 and ready for a real relationship, but now he can’t shake his reputation. He is attracted to Hope and asks her for a ride home from the meeting. They end up going to the grocery store first to get everything Hope needs to bake the pieces for the gingerbread house competition. When they leave the grocery store, it has already started to snow.
The snow fall turns into a full blown storm. Hope starts to bake gingerbread in her little oven at home. However, the oven seems to be broken. She goes next door and Drake offers to help her bake at his house. He has a state of the art kitchen.
I was happy that Hope let herself put aside the town gossip and got to know who Drake is as a person. This couple did not disappoint. I am looking forward to more stories in this series.

Ooh! Cranberry Corner's Most Eligible Bachelor turns up the heat for our Hot Mess baker! Drake has been voted Cranberry Corner's Most Eligible Bachelor. Again. Sure, he has a reputation as a serial dater, but at 36, he's done with that. He's ready for the total relationship package. With the right woman. Hope. Hope is a baker. Her business, Hot Mess Catering, finally gets some recognition when she wins the contract to bake the gingerbread for the town's gingerbread house contest. Except her oven stops working right in the middle of a batch! What is she going to do? The only thing she can do. Ask her neighbor for help. Drake. Nothing can go wrong, right? She just needs to use his oven. They actually have a lot of fun baking together. And that's when things really heat up! Not gonna lie - a guy who can hold his own in the kitchen? Total turn on! This was a tasty little treat, and holiday themed! Just enough for a quick bedtime read. Light and sweet, and guaranteed to put a smile on your face!

Piper Cook joins the delicious Sugar and Spice Nights holiday-themed multi-author series with the fabulous Gingerbread and the Guy Next Door. Hope has long-since thought her next-door neighbour, Drake, is hot. But after watching a string of blonde bombshells leave his house and seeing him named the town's most eligible bachelor year-after-year, she believes he is not a forever kind of man. However, Drake is ready to settle down and his gorgeous curvy neighbour is exactly the kind of woman he wants to spend forever with. When Hope wins the opportunity to use her baking skills to make all of the cookies for the town's holiday gingerbread house decorating contest and ends up needing Drake's help, she discovers that maybe she's been wrong about him. This is a super sweet, deliciously sexy short romance, perfect to heat you up on a chilly fall night!

short and simple Welcome to the town of Cranberry Corner. It opens with the Mayor's presentation evening, where Hope, baker and owner of Hot Mess Catering, is the winner of the cookies contract. Her next door neighbour Drake, 36 year old good looking guy, is the regular winner of 'most eligible bachelor' award. Not the most prestigious title and now tiring. He is looking and wanting for more. His eyes are on Hope but she is oblivious. His need for a lift home creates the opportunity he needs. Needing use of his kitchen and his help in filling the cookie order gives him the chance to set his feelings out...general conversation with flirty banter, double meaning words, ramps up the heat.

Hope most recently appeared in her brother's romance story (Dessert First) when she is recently divorced. She is baking cookies at home when her oven stops working in the middle of a snow storm. She has no choice but to go next door and ask Drake to help her.
Drake is honored with the Cranberry Corner’s most eligible bachelor, he is getting tired of it, he wants to find someone and start a family before he is too old to play with his children. That woman is his next door neighbor, Hope, but she thinks he is a playboy.
This is a sweet and steamy story and one of the Sugar & Spice Nights holiday series.

Hope has had a rough time getting started, but finally her catering business is getting some attention. But just when things were looking up, her oven overheats while baking cookies for the annual gingerbread house decorating contest. Then Drake next door offers to help.
Drake has a reputation as a very eligible bachelor who enjoys sampling all the females in his serial dating and one-night-stands. But he is ready to settle down now, and Hope looks like she might be just what he is looking for. Unfortunately, she sees the handsome neighbor as a player and is not sure she wants to risk her heart. Will he be able to change her mind and have her see him as man seriously interested in more with her?
Hope lives to bake! She lives next to Drake and doesn't talk to him much. Especially since he's the town playboy, a girl every week, and winner of the town's batchelor of the year award - again. Sitting next to him Hope can't help but be attracted to him, but getting involved things could go wrong. Then again, maybe it can go right. Right?
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this engaging entertaining and compelling story. I was immediately hooked into the story liking both Hope and Drake. Both love to cook and this brings them together. The story is well written, fast paced with lots of chemistry, steam, friendship, attraction, swoonworthy moments and a very happy HEA 💓
Oh my, does this fantastic author have a 5⭐️ winner on her hands. Hope enters a gingerbread house decorating contest. Her oven goes on the fritz so the handsome bachelor next door makes her an offer she can't refuse. Their chemistry is so combustible and fiery hot. Hope is a hot mess, but will she become Drake's hot mess forever? Does Drake get Hope to understand he's done with bachelorhood and will Hope trust that? This author just fills this ebook with wittiness and sugar and spice with everything oh so nice. So if it's hot in the kitchen you want, then I absolutely encourage you to get this spicy ebook. You will be so happy you did!.

Hot Mess gets to know her neighbor better! This is about Hope and Drake. They have been neighbors, but she has seen the type of women he dates, and she is not in the same class. Although he hasn't been dating lately, he still has a type. She owns I'm a Hot Mess Catering, which suits her fine, but now she is up for a bid that will change her life, and she needs to get it. Drake, on the other hand, is known and an eligible bachelor, and it is a title he wants to give up, but only with Hope, only she doesn't know that. These two characters are terrific in this book. They complement each other in more ways than one.

First things first; I like the cover of this book! Gingerbread & the guy next door is a novella in the ‘’sugar & spice nights’’ collection. This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. Drake is a playboy that is finally ready to settle down. He wants his neighbour but with his reputation will she give him a chance? The chemistry between Hope and Drake is clear to see and I liked them together. I liked the ending and the epilogue for this story. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read.
I loved Gingerbread & the Guy Next Door Book 1 of Cranberry Corner. Drake is her serial dating neighbor and Hope needs his help. She is wildly attracted to him but she’s not the tall blonde type he usually goes for. Drake hasn’t been the player everyone thinks he is but it’s hard to lose your reputation, he just wants Hope. When she needs his help he can finally try to win her over, hoping she will give him a chance. I loved this short and sweet story, and the characters. I would definitely recommend this book.

This story has made me "AWW" more then once.. I absolutely loved this story and how Drake and Hope found their way together. Drake is known as the town's playboy, the most Eligible Bachelor, and if Hope is not careful she will be his next notch in his bedpost. She knows he is the one who could break her heart. But before she knows it Drake has chipped away the ice around her heart. Drake is done with being known and labeled as the towns Most Eligible Bachelor. He is ready for love, to be married, be a father ... and he knows there is no one else but Hope that he wants to spend his life with.
This book to me was so sweet. Playboy bachelor (Drake) crowned most eligible by the town wants to find his one and only. He discouraged his neighbor, Hope, when she moved in next door and was bringing him leftovers from her catering jobs. He always felt an attraction towards her and now it's stronger, he wants to settle down with her. This book kind of puts me into the fairy tale mood, it's that sweet. Read how their love grows. I enjoyed reading it and hope you will as well. Written by Cindy :)
This book is a part of the Sugar & Spice Nights series and focuses on Drake and Hope. Drake has a playboy reputation but that lifestyle no longer appeals to him. He wants a family and a forever type of love and he wants it with Hope but she doesn't want to be just another notch on his bed post so she keeps her walls up in order to guard her heart. I really loved how great Drake and Hope were together and that they finally got with the person who made them feel complete. Great addition to the series.

He's bachelor of the yr again and a few months ago he wants to change his playboy ways and settle down with a wife and family. The woman he wants is his neighbor that moved next door to him a few months ago. She's attracted to him but knows he's a playboy. He has his work cut out for him if he wants the girl. Her oven quits working and goes next door to beg for help to get the cookies ready for the gingerbread house contest. He helps out and a mini good fight starts and they finally kiss. Things works out for them
Gingerbread & the Guy Next Door is absolutely delightful and delicious! I LOVED this story from start to finish. Hope and Drake are each such endearing and sweet people—Drake is kind and caring, sweet and sensitive, wanting to overcome the narrative of his past. Hope is adorable and generous, flirty and fun. Their chemistry is awesome, and their personalities just so perfect for each other. This is a great feel good read with no angst and lots of goodness!!!

Drake is the bachelor of the year and has a playboy reputation but after meeting Hope he's ready to settle down. Hope is Drake's neighbor and runs a catering business. When her oven breaks down she heads next door for help and finds more than an oven to use. Things heat up between Drake and Hope in this steamy short story and book one in the Cranberry Corner series. The writing is good and the characters are likable. I look forward to reading the rest of the series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
The holidays bring a special kind of magic and that’s just what happen in this small town.
Hope is determined her life is going to change with winning the bid for the holiday cookies. Drake is on a mission to change his life and move it along in a forward direction.
We get to see these two work towards both of their goals and see if the can meet in the middle.

Gingerbread & the Guy next door. I loved this book. It made me think about making cookies and spicing up my love life. Hope's life is a hot mess. That's why she named her business that. Things seemed to go wrong and she needs help. Drake, her neighbor, comes to the rescue. But Hope isn't sure if they can make it as a couple because he is the town's eligible Batchelor. Can that change? This is a great read!
Hot Mess Bakery won the contract to make the gingerbread for the gingerbread house contest. Hope wanted to start making the gingerbread, but a snowstorm hit, then her oven stopped working. Luckily her neighbor has a state of the art kitchen with double ovens, too bad Drake's known as a player.
Extra hot and steamy Christmas erotic novella.

Hope lived next door to the forever bachelor, at least she thought, but when he offers her help, will she let him and see where things will go?
Drake wants nothing more than to help Hope and make her his, but she thinks that his a player like everyone else. Can he convince her that she is all he will ever need?.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarilay leaving a review. Hope and Drake are very aware of each other and Drake figures it is is the right time to act on it. Aided by a broken oven, they bond over baking gingerbread. I really like how he declares himself to her and his proposal.
The author has given us a fast paced, quick read that pulls us into the lives of Drake and Hope and does not let go. Drake is known as the most eligible bachelor in town but he does not want that label. He wants the girl next door, Hope. What will it take to get her into his life?
