Cynic believes in a good time, not a long time; it’s understandable since his wife cheated after twelve years of marriage. Now that he’s single, variety is the spice of life, and he keeps his life spicy. He avoids women looking for commitment. As the Sergeant-at-Arms for the Riot MC, when he’s ordered to protect Fiona Brinkley from her ex-fiancé Cynic battles an almighty attraction. A battle he loses.
Fiona thinks Cynic is off-limits. The last time she saw him, he was married to his high school sweetheart. However, that was years ago, and things have changed. When Cynic suggests a good time with him, she jumps at the chance. It’s the best chance she’s ever taken. She falls for Cynic, but he’s the wrong man. He doesn’t want the things she does: commitment and building a family.
Can Fiona shift Cynic’s stance, so he’ll take a chance on a long time that promises to be a good time?
Karen Renee is the author of the Riot Motorcycle Club, Beta, and O-Town series of books. She once crunched Nielsen ratings data but these days she brings her imagination to life by writing books. She has wanted to be a writer since she was very young, but it’s taken the last twenty plus years for her to amass enough courage and overall life experience to bring that dream to life. Some of those life experiences came from the wonderful world of advertising, banking, and local television media research. She is a proud wife and mother, and a Jacksonville native. When she’s not at the soccer field or cooking, you can find her at her local library, the grocery store, in her car jamming out to some tunes, or hibernating while she writes and/or reads books.
We have to say that this one was not one, a favorite of ours in this ongoing series. I liked the characters well enough and Fiona we loved but, Cynic was not a favorite of our the guy just rubbed us the wrong way, and we never really warmed up to him, honestly we thought he was a complete A-hole.
Fiona was just a sweetheart, loving and caring and just pure sunshine and has had nothing but, a run of bad lucky and our heart went out to her time and time again as she never deserved the things she was dealt and forced to endure.
For us, we just never felt any chemistry between the characters. The side characters made the story. The story was however filled with tons of drama from beginning to end.
Cynic just not a fan of, I couldn't stand his push and pull antics when it came to Fiona, honestly we kept shouting in our head grow the F up and you don't deserve her.
As with any story, there are parts of the story that we did enjoy. Our only hope reading this entire story was that Cynic would get his act together before it was too late because the one thing that brought light into his dark heart was extinguishing right before his eyes.
I feel like I got whiplash from reading this one, mostly due to Cynic, sometimes from Fiona. I also felt like we never did get the whole story from Fiona about what happened with her dad and why she was so anti club. The bit we heard certainly made me see why she didn't keep in touch after he died.
And sure Cynic got burned in a bad way, but he didn't want to see anything other than the way he thought things should be. I don't know that I would have even tried to start something with Cynic if I was Fiona. The sad thing about both of them was that when they both were out of their heads, they were good together. If they could have just been and seen things clearly they would have seen how great they had it.
I was glad that they got things worked out in the end and that the threat to Fiona was done once and for all.
Fiona is the daughter of the dead Prez of the Riot MC Biloxi and she’s been in an abusive relationship until she finally leaves her ex-fiancé. It’s the club that steps up to help her even though they felt she left them high and dry.
Cynic is the club’s SAR and lives up to his road name. After marrying his high school sweetheart only to have her cheat on him after twelve years he is not looking for anything long term. Now his job is to protect Fiona who happens to have had a crush on the man but figured he was taken. Now that things have changed, he is willing to have a good time with Fiona but that’s it. Seems that they aren’t on the same page. So, what will it take to make that next step?
I love this series with the steam that comes off the pages along with the storylines. I recommend this book as well as the rest of the books in this series.
Here I am again about to read another MC book from an author that I don't know. Scary right? But I'm a taking risks kind of girl. When the opportunity aroused for me to read this book, I knew that with just the blurb, that I would love it... Karen Renee is the author that I'm talking about and her writing is raw and wild. Just take a look. Cynic's Stance is her latest release and it's the fourth book from the Riot Biloxi series This book explores the lives of Cynic and Fiona. Cynic's attitude changed, the day he discovered that his wife had cheated on him. After that day he swore off relationships. Being the Sargeant of Arms friend the Riot MC, a job he takes seriously, he is given the task of protecting Fiona... Fiona is not a stranger to the MC life. Being the daughter of the deceased president of the Riot MC, she knows that she can count on the brothers, so that's why she accepts their help. She had wanted Cynic for a few years now but now that he's divorced... When I ended this book, I felt like a truck had run me over... Great plot, well written, intense with a touch of darkness. This book was powerful and infuriating... Wanna know why? Because Cynic is that complex. One minute he's being an ass, and the next he will melt your heart... I felt like I was on a rollercoaster... That's for sure. But Fiona isn't a saint. She's stubborn and bossy as hell... The perfect match if I'm being honest... Lol They worked perfectly with each other when they let it... But you can't deny the chemistry they share. Overall it was a good book and made me want to read the first books from this series. It was the first book I've read by this author and I must say that I'm curious to read more. What's next Karen? Another book from another brother? I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Get ready for Cynic to infuriate you. And then show his soft spot. Then back to anger. And yet, even with all of that, you can’t help but love him! Yes, he’s a deebasaurus of epic proportions a few times, I won’t lie. But as we get to know more about his life and why he’s so…well, cynical…it’s easy to understand why. And it’s also easy to understand just how Fiona manages to settle and unnerve him at the same time. Because she can’t possibly be as chill as she appears, right? Not to him, anyway. But Fiona proves to be exactly who she seems, and I had to adore her for that.
Even as these two found their way toward cordial conversations, some hard truths, and love, Fiona and Cynic managed to communicate. And I LOVE me some communication! She isn’t a doormat, she isn’t afraid to speak her mind while still being open to other views, and Fiona is absolutely the kind of woman I’d love to befriend. Cynic is lucky and he knows it, even when he’s ready to run from feelings that he’s managed to avoid for years. But once he stops running and lets himself fall, it’s clear that Cynic and Fiona will be unstoppable together.
I’ve loved this whole series, but I think Fiona may be my favorite…for some obvious reasons. She’s got the heart and brains to match Cynic perfectly, and she also has compassion that isn’t always deserved by some along the way, but is always welcome. So enjoy the ride from Never Gonna Happen to She’s The One here. Trust me, you’ll love it!
Another terrific addition to this thrilling MC series! This one features Cynic, a brother that earns his road name by always bringing the cynical side to things. Then there’s the lovely Fiona, the wild gal with so much going for her until her relationship goes sideways. There’s hot romance, some danger and loads of drama in the story. The drama is relationship based with the relationship adverse Cynic, the suffering Fiona, exes at every turn and an old dad/daughter showdown. When Fiona’s relationship takes a violent turn the MC comes to her rescue and puts her up close and personal with her teen crush, Cynic. She’s had a tumultuous relationship with the club as a result of her father’s, the former prez, actions. But the club is family always and Fiona realizes she’s included. When her relationship with Cynic turns romantic it’s hot and sexy. But Fi wants it all, family, kids, the works and Cynic is not the guy for that. The push/pull between the two is heartbreaking but the chemistry is sizzling. I love this group of sexy alpha brothers and their fabulous women. One of the best parts to the story is the fabulous friendship between Fiona and her bestie Abby. Love those gal pals! Of course, there’s always an overload of hunky bikers in the story. Old faces and a few new. Gamble gets a lot of face time and I can’t wait for his story. Such a fun hottie! Done miss this exciting addition to this excellent MC series. Biker love!
Great addition to the series. Cynic’s Stance is a well written MC Romance that grabbed this reader in all the right places. It’s full of fun, suspense, action and romance. The characters are well defined and made for a great read. Ryan’s road name, Cynic, fits him to a tee. He has a cynical way of looking at love and women in general after his childhood sweetheart/ex-wife cheated on him. His dream of a happy life with kids was shattered. As for Fiona, she is the former Prez of the Riot MC’s daughter. She is a strong woman who knows what she wants out of life - a home, family and kids. When her live-in boyfriend beats her badly, the club steps in, and needless to say when Cynic’s asked to watch over Fiona, he’s not happy and is rather voicetress about it. Fiona is even less happy as Cynic is the guy she has had a secret crush on since she was 17 but was too late as he was married. Little does she know the sexy, grumpy biker is now single and loves nothing more than a good time.
The banter between Cynic and Fiona makes for an awesome read and the chemistry between them is off the charts. But the timing is off and their dreams are miles apart. Can these two find happy ground? I highly recommend grabbing up Cynic’s Stance (and all the MC Riot standalone books) you won’t regret it.
Fiona has been on her own for a while now, she may be the daughter of the past president of the Riot MC, Biloxi Chapter, but he didn’t raise her, and he made it very clear when she was a teen that she was not welcome at the clubhouse. So, she made a life for herself and avoided the club. Her best friend is the old lady of a member from the Jacksonville Chapter, and they have called in the Biloxi Chapter to protect Fiona after she has been abused by her live in fiancé. She doesn’t feel that they will help her because she’s distanced herself, and some take notice and make comments, but most of them still view her as family, even though her father is no longer living.
The one man that is the reason Fiona was banned from the clubhouse shows up to help her out with the others, but there’s tension there. Not because he knows about the past, but because he feels that Fiona never wanted any part of being an MC princess. Cynic and Fiona are pushed together and have to make the best of their circumstances. When Fiona gets some information that changes her reaction to Cynic, things begin to heat up.
I really liked Cynic and Fiona’s story. There was a lot going on and the chemistry between these two was great. I love the characters and the story. I give this story a 5-star review and look forward to more of the Riot MC books.
She knew about the MC, her father having been President before he'd died. He'd kept her away from the club and the married man she crushed on as a teen even though she knew there was no future for them. Now, the club is protecting her from a man she thought she loved until he hurt her badly.
As the SAA Cynic was assigned to protect her. She wasn't sure about his attitude until she found out he was divorced and not into commitment. While the chemistry is fiery, not gonna happen. Or is it?
As the danger doesn't seem to be over and the more time they spend together, the more difficult it is to resist their feelings. Even his big, lovable, well-trained dog falls for her. Is there a chance to change his mind and feelings? Even if he would consider a relationship no kids for him. Something she has always wanted--a family.
Unforgettable characters, the guys from the club are great, her friends from other MCs are as well, and the families are what she's always wanted. Can she change his stance and have her whole dream come true? Lots of steam and sass as well as a slow evolving relationship. Reviewed for Words Turn Me On
Fiona is daughter to the dead President of the Riot MC, but she's pretty much been absent from the club life for a minute, and that has left the MC feeling like she left them behind. However, when she's finally done with the abusive relationship with a fiance, the club is who helps her out. Cynic was burned in his twelve year marriage when his wife cheated on him, so he's not even entertaining the thought of ever getting in another relationship but the best laid plans amirite?! Fiona has had a thing for him for a while but never did anything about it since he was taken, however these days, she's going to go there even if it's only a hookup that he offered when he's tasked to protect her. Cynic totally drove me crazy with his unwillingness to change his mind about relationships despite the fact that he was starting to catch feelings for Fiona. Will he actually open his mind up to a possible future with Fiona?! Cynic's Stance had the angst factor, heat, and twists coming in hot so it was another fantastic read for me, and I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Cynic was cheated on by the women he loved and that along with their divorce made him swear he'd never love it be in a relationship again. Fiona is a club princess weather she accepts it or not. Her father did her so wrong and pushed her away from the club. When Fi is in injured and in trouble Cynic is charged with keeping her safe. Their both bossy, she has loved him since she was 17 and he can't seem to forgive her for not coming around the club. When the reason comes to light you see a bit of a change in Cynic and his feelings for Fi and no matter what he does to fight it she has a way to stop and make him think and that's when he stops fighting his feeling and goes for it. I loved going on this journey with them and I couldn't be happier for them. I also cannot wait to see how they are with the news they just found out at the end. Gamblers story can't get here fast enough.
This is the fourth book in this amazing series and is Cynic and Fiona’s journey. Cynic is the Sergeant-at-Arms in his MC, and he is all for having a good time with no commitments after his ex-wife cheated on him after 12-years of marriage. Fiona is the daughter of the deceased President, and when she is badly beaten by her fiancé, she calls her best friend Abby for help, which has all the club brothers collecting her to protect her. Fiona has a teenage crush on Cynic but always knew he was off limits. Fiona is not afraid to speak her mind and she and Cynic may be complete opposites, but they complement each other perfectly. This is a well written story which has danger, suspense, intrigue, communication, emotions, and love, which leads to an entertaining and riveting page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Fiona finds herself in a position that she never thought she would ever be in. When her bestie comes to help, she is also bringing the help of the MC that Fiona cut ties with long ago. Now, Cynic is babysitting her, all the while looking down his nose at her, not understanding Fiona at all. But the more he learns about her the more space she takes up in his thoughts. For a man that doesn't do relationships, Fiona is making him want more than just one night. With loads of drama, danger, violence, and hot naughty bits, this story is filled with twists and turns that keep you sucked in till the last word. I give this 5 stars.
This one is marvelous. The story, the characters….just a joy to read. There is action, a sweet well trained dog, MC brothers that rise to the occasions needed, an two psychotic EXs. Through all kinds of traumas, births, fights, and a killing…this couple find their HEA. Great read. Highly recommend this series and this book. No cheating from Cynic and his new lady, no cliffhanger…just a snippet of intrigue from Gamble’s upcoming story.
Wow. We finally get to see Cynic stop being cynical. I couldn't put book down once started.
I loved Cynic and Fiona together, they have a rocky start when they are thrown together. Fiona doesn't spend time around Riot mc much because of the past. Fiona has always liked Cynic but it takes him a while to allow his attraction take place.
A great addition to this series. Cynic & Fiona have things to work through. His from his past and hers that he & his brothers step in to help her with. I loved how they never second guess stepping in to get her out of the situation she’s in. You get all the MC action in this book. This was a great book and I look forward to reading the next in this series.
Cynic makes me want to scream. He is bitter and still holding on to his past. Fiona thinks he is off limits but the attraction is still ever present. These two take a journey that brings danger, crushes and ultimately love. Great writing.

Cynic is bitter and unable to let anyone woman in since his ex-wife worked him over. In walks the MC princess Fiona who needs his help. I absolutely loved this story. I love the Riot MC family so much. Another hit from Karen Renee, truly an amazing storyteller.
I couldn't put this down, watching a woman get out of an abusive relationship and finally get the man of teenage dreams was addictive. It may of taken nigh on 20years to have the opportunity to be his she had to not only break down the wall of distrust for women he's built up but beat the assault course of hate he has for her....that shocks her. I routed for them from the off and loved their journey
After his wife cheated on him and broke his heart years ago, Cynic is determined to never have a meaningful relationship again. When Fiona, daughter of the deceased president of Riot MC Biloxi chapter, calls her friend Abby for help after being beaten by her fiance, Cynic and his Riot brothers step up to protect Fiona, even though they feel she turned her back on the club.
Fiona is definitely someone I would like to hang out with. Smart, funny, capable, sarcastic, independent, she seems to have a positive attitude no matter what life throws her way. Cynic runs hot and cold in the beginning, gradually warming up to Fiona and showing her his true self. Throw in a dog that you will instantly fall for and you will see that Karen Renee is a great storyteller and will have you hooked from the first few pages.
Cynic's Stance is a continuation of the Riot MC Biloxi series, but can definitely be read as a standalone, with a HEA for the main characters.
I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I enjoyed this book. I wasn’t big fan of Cynics views & the chemistry felt a bit rushed between him & Fiona. One minute he was dead set on never entering a relationship & then two seconds later he was calling her his woman. & then they were in a relationship real quick. Wasn’t bad just not what I expected.
I recently started reading Riot MC Biloxi, haven't read too many of the books but the one's I have been really good. Strong women and even stronger men are in these stories. Please do yourself a favor and buy one of MS Karen Renee books.
Big, big fan of Ms Renee's😍 I love the Riot MC series and just about everything else that she writes! She is an amazing author😘 can't wait to get my hands on more!
The previous books got 4 stars because despite the run on unnecessary details, the storylines had potential to be captivating. This story was sounding like the others but with different characters. Read that, been there.
This is a MC Romantic Suspense, and this is the fourth book in the Riot MC Biloxi series. I have read the first three books in this series before picking up this book. I really enjoyed reading this book, and I love the characters in this book. This series has me just want to keep reading it. The first time Cynic's character showed up in the other book I know I was going to love his character. I really loved getting his backstory, and I loved his story. I really loved this book.
