Amateurs in Love #1

Craving the Player

Rate this book
Braden has never been the type to dream about settling down. Just the smell of commitment is enough to chill him to the bone.

And after finally being free of a toxic four-year relationship, Sierra plans on staying single for as long as she can. With her sights set on getting her much-deserved promotion at her dream job, it seems like a straightforward plan.

But after one spontaneous night spent tangled up in Braden's sheets, will it be as easy as both of them expected to continue on with their normal lives? It is just sex, after all.

One risky agreement later and their lives are intertwined.

Is it really possible to keep the lines between lust and love from blurring? Or are they just postponing the inevitable?

I’m confused on what the plot was? Like it doesn’t feel like there was one. It was more of one night stands with the same person over and over again until they get together and he fucks up she goes back, he fucks up again and so back and forward. Their definitely wasn’t any connection between the characters at all. It was all just sex. I honestly don’t see the point of there being a second book like it all could have just wrapped up in one book. Braden was just an ass.

The audiobook was good thought, loved it.

Staring my first audiobook of the year. I’m gonna be honest the only reason I’m listening to this book it’s because it’s been on my tbr for the past two years and I just want it off. Also I have no clue what this book is about and also I haven’t seen any reviews on this so good luck to me

Read this book make me remember the good feeling that you have when you start a relationship. The feeling of doubts, butterflies in our stomach.
I loved this…
Maybe the characters thoughts are little too much, but I don’t care! It’s great!

Sierra & Braden have a… meet fight? In a club one night, they have a little tiff but end up going home together. And that starts a friends with benefits situation that put me on a rollercoaster the entire time I was reading.

At the end of book 1 I was ready to shake Braden and scream and cry because he MESSED UP SO BADLY. But book 2’s second chance set up was just so perfect (and definitely my fav of the 2!) Braden is possessive, obsessive, and redeemed himself perfectly in book 2. Sierra is strong fmc, which is my absolute fav. I also am obsessed with the fact she didn’t give up her career for a MAN 💅

The wonderful Hannah Cowan blessed me with an arc of Craving The Player. The entire time she was writing and editing this BEAUTIFUL piece, she teased me like it was her job. *Cue in eye roll* Yet, she made up for it when she sent me her book. Craving the player was one of my most anticipated reads of the year. Let me tell you- and I’m not lying at all. This book is a masterpiece. From the flawless writing (you would think this is her 100th book she’s written), to her characters that make you laugh, cry, jump in your seat, and sweat… this book blew my mind. I was hooked since the first chapter. The characters pull you in and make you realize why you love reading. The banter between Braden and Sierra- *chefs kiss* Braden I volunteer as tribute to be your punching bag, Sierra, I strive to have your baddie attitude. I cannot express enough how much I love when an author makes the girl scream power. This was such a fun, easy read that I couldn’t put down. The character development, the flow, the heartwarming moments, the moments that make your heart drop. I loved every single moment. Hannah makes her characters real, and that’s not shown enough in books… so thank you, queen Hannah. I love this book so much, I won’t be whole until I get to hold this in my hand. I need the sequel, ASAP. No one talk to me until I do- I won’t promise I’ll be nice. You’re not living until you read this book, I promise you won’t regret it. 1000/10 DID. NOT. DISSAPOINT. Book comes out December 17th, run to preorder!!!!

Hannah has down it again. First thought after finishing the book was: "I need the sequel now" Braden and Sierra have such a special place in my heart. You know, Braden pissed me off at first. He was arrogant and most of the time I wanted to slap him. But then he started to fall for Sierra and become a grumpy sweetheart. That means If you love the grumpy/sunshine trope with boxing Craving the Player is for you. We also get some characters for the series make an appearance. I loved when we got to see Gracie and Tyler from Blissful Hook.

Clayton is one of me new favorite side characters. I thought he was hilarious and I NEED a book for him. I need to know more about his story and everything.

Something I love about Hannah's book is there is always a strong female lead. Yes, all the characters have weaknesses but her female leads always show growth throughout the story and girl power as well.

Branden and Sierra broke my heart, but I hope that the sequel brings my heart back together.

If you want to pay for a book that you can easily read on wattpad for free (and in a much better way) then ig it's up to you.

It's not a bad book. But I am not going to pay money to read a book that is just eh?? Like the characters are bland and boring and in the end, I just didn't care enough about the conflict.

The one thing that I noticed more and more in Hannah's books is that there is no real plot. And the whole shitshow becomes pretty boring pretty quickly.

Also, her writing is repetitive and just never elicits any strong emotions.

I also don't wanna read about another fuckboi having daddy issues and the h's friends defending his shitty actions. Also nvm that the end conflict is so stupid lmao like they could have just cut out and made it a bit idk, less absurd. It's so stupid 💀💀

Endnote: don't judge a book by its cover. Because the cover definitely deceives the actual content of this book that I am still regretting reading.

Thank you so much to everyone who has given so much love to me and this story so far. I appreciate every single one of you!!

Yes this is part 1 in their story, and even though not everyone might agree with the need for a second book, it was always the plan. There is far too much story and growth left for the both of them to be packed into one single book. And that is that! 🥰🥰

Book 2 is planned for a May release ❤️

So, I have been wanting to read a book from this author for a while now. She’s from wattpad and is self publishing and I always want to support writers on there and as I was quite excited to read this. I have seen many people talk about this and it was time I read it myself.

I really didn’t enjoy it and tried so hard to keep going and not just leave it. From the first chapter I really didn’t know what to say. The first couple of chapters, in my opinions is always the best ones. They’re exciting and makes you want to read more and the introduction to our main MCs is always fun. However I didn’t feel like that at all. It was boring and I didn’t like neither the guy and the girl.

The name Braden was already so jarring and he was so bland to me. There’s no attractive to him and he was just not significant. He had some serious anger issues and was honestly so bad, he was worse than some men in dark romance books and that just says a lot. He was a walking red flag and just isn’t it.

I didn’t like how there was a smut scene at chapter four. I just find it so annoying and pushy when authors add sex scenes in books like these when the characters aren’t even introduced properly. They aren’t special and it was so flavourless. The mature scenes itself are repeated so many times it because tiring and I skipped so many because it was so repetitive. It wasn’t needed and would rather want actual scenes that just plain old smut. The couple weren’t standing out to me and it’s shame because this has a lot of potential.

Also, there’s a second book?! Why? Sometimes it’s not needed and this book wasn’t even long if you take the unnecessary smut scenes out. I personally don’t think you even need another book but if that’s what the author wants, good for her.

This is just my opinion and I want to be as honest as can be. This is in no way hate or disrespect. I saw on another review how people hated on her for stating her opinion so please don’t come at me too. It’s constructive if you like it or not.

okay i absolutely love when its a physical connection first and then an emotional connection so i absolutely loved this book, the spice😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨 i went in blind and am so glad i did, it follows braeden (a boxer who doesnt believe in love and relationships) and sierra (a marketing manager who has just got out of a messy 4 year relationship), they meet at a club and hit it off right away and make the agreement of sex only

watching braeden slowly realise hed do anything for sierra was fkin incredible and my favourite thing in a book, they were also super likeable main and side characters, very excited for the second book and to see more of their relationship

To say I am a Hanna's books fan is an understatement, so I was really impatient to start reading this one and discover about Braden's story and personality.

I must say that I am not really found of the "friends with benefits"/ "no strings attached" thing so I was a little bit puzzled at the beginning. Besides this book is really much smuttier than the others, and as far as I love reading romance, at some point it was too much for me (but it is only my tastes of course !!). This is actually why I put 3 stars for this book, I wasn't into it as much as I was with the previous ones, but this is totally okay.

To continue on a more positive note, I would say that the relationship between Braden and Sierra is building at a very coherent pace, it is not too slow or too fast. Also, getting to discover them and learn more about their pasts was something I loved so much, especially as they don't have easy stories so we can understand better where their strong personalities come from !!

Braden is such a playboy and he SURE knows it, but through the book we discover such a big heart man and DAMN I loved him ?? He was an idiot at some point DONT GET ME WRONG !!! But his evolution in this story is something else, we can feel he really grown !! Bonus points for the talks between him and Tyler (we love Bateman so much here), I was so happy to see their brother bound being build here and see them together again !!

Sierra was such a sassy queen, but also full of insecurities, I loved how strong she was and the way she is willing to stand up for herself !! Really inspiring to be honest. I loved to discover how her feelings are growing towards Braden. Even though she made me cry a couple of times tho lol !! She was one of the best female main character I got to read about and I enjoyed every bit of it.

BUT NOW !!! CAN WE TALK ABOUT THIS ENDING ???? Man, I can't wait to go through book 2 because wow, my heart is in pieces right now !!!

Overall, I would say this is quite a nice book, the writing style is still very great and of course well paced ! Hannah knows how to do it and she does it perfectly, I am never disappointed with her books !!

Now here we go book 2 !! I can't wait.

This author ruined her own book….like it was a cute concept, the smut was okay the characters were fine and then she gave Braden a personality change and the book turned awful. Like the way this dude would just lash out when he was mad like he would go ur not even that good of a fuck etc etc like bruh red flag. It was to the point like sierra should not be with him. Also he was so cookie cutter, like his parents were divorced so he has relationship issues…original. The whole book just got so bad after like 60 percent. And the worst part is the fact there is a book 2. The book could’ve been wrapped up in book 1 especially if she cut the unnecessary dumb conflict. Idk if she wanted to squeeze out more money or she’s just a bad writer but what is the book 2 even for??? Also someone said this but like the sex gets so repetitive and boring like since they had sex so early in the book nothing new ever happened like I can only read a dick in a pussy the same way so many times. The Clayton dude and Sophia seemed more interesting then Braden also that name… fucking yt ppl Gn

I quit listening to this as soon as I realized the FMC has a stupid kid. Y'all know I don't like kids in my fics. LOL

Looking at other reviews, seems like this might be one of those books where she gets knocked up by the MMC and doesn't tell him and then later on he finds out. IDK for sure. Either way - I want no part of it.

This is just a note for myself on why I quit.

𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: Hannah did it again. Once again, she wrote a masterpiece in the form of a book and made me feel so many emotions.

What not we have in Craving The Player? 400 pages of pure smuts, heartwarming moments, adorable friendships and a lil bit of family dramas...... every-damn-thing in this book is amazayn as hell!!! 😩

First and foremost, the smuts. Damn guys there was literally a time where I had to stand in front of a refrigerator and cool myself down 🥵 This is one of those books where you'd find tons and tons of hot smuts which is perfectly balanced with the plot!!!! I can't even count the amount of time I wish I was Sierra and Braden was doing those ✨dirty things✨ to me 😳

Now let's talk about the plot. No one, not even the author herself told me that the plot is going to be so incredible!!! I love the girl power this book screams, literally one of my favourite thing about this book! I also love the connection and romance between the main protagonists, the connection they have with their friends and the family dramas! It was written in such an amazayn way!!! Oh and let's not forget about the banter between Sierra and Braden 😂 please I live for those 😂✋🏼There was this character in this book I used to simp over other than Braden, but at the end, I wish that character gets eaten by hundreds of flesh-eating piranhas 😊

The ending, well I wasn't expecting that ending 🥲 Hannah did not do us any favour with the ending and if it wasn't for the epilogue, I'd have sent her a sh!t ton of curses and block her for 3 days straight. Period.

If you love a strong female lead with "I give no sh!t" attitude, a dirty talking boxer, adorable friendships, family dramas and tons of hot and segsy smuts, then go and freaking read this book!!!! It's out today in paperback and the Kindle edition will be out on January 7, 2022.

ps: Clayton is mine so back off. Thank you.

Craving the player was given to me as an ARC in return for an honest review, and I can say it did not disappoint. It was emotional, and loving, and as beautiful as I could have ever imagined. Not only is it a sports romance, but it also embrasses women empowerment as well as a strong female heroine. Unlike more sports romances though, Hannah Cowan pulls at your heart strings just enough for you to fall head over heels for Braden and Sierra. Amazingly written and also well put together. 10/10 would recommend!

“𝙔𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙚𝙭𝙞𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙬𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙣 𝙄’𝙫𝙚 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙨𝙚𝙚𝙣。 𝙉𝙤 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙨𝙖𝙮 𝙤𝙧 𝙙𝙤。”

Braden isn’t a guy who wants to be committed to one person forever. He likes the playboy life. Not being tied down & being able to do whatever… whoever he likes whenever he wants.

Sierra only has one thing in mind. Working on a well deserves promotion at her job she’s been working her butt off for.
Staying single is what she plans to do in order to focus on her job.

One night they cross each others path & end up tangled up in the same bed sheets together.
Thinking they can keep their relationship as a friends with benefits only seems only ideal.

Because what are you suppose to do when you end up spending more than just nights together & form a bond you never expected to happen.

“𝙇𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙖𝙩 𝙢𝙚” 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙬𝙡𝙨 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙙𝙨 𝙢𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙘𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙩 𝙢𝙮 𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙩。 “𝙄’𝙢 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙛𝙪𝙘𝙠。”

They have mended their lives together more than planned, for the sake of their original agreement.

Meeting Braden’s family was never apart of the plan, hanging out & watching reruns of Law & Order was never apart of the plan…

What are you suppose to do when life throws a few too many curveballs your way & make you question so many things & changes your thoughts on certain aspects of your life?

"𝗬𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗮 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱。"
"𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜'𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁, 𝘀𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲。" "𝗦𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲? 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆? 𝗜𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲?"

Braden is certainly a new book boyfriend. The mouth on him, oh hello swoon worthy🥵🥵

Sierra is a bad ass chick who has a great sense of humor making the banter between the main character *chefs kiss*

I need book two right now, I need more Braden & Sierra. I need to know what happens next.

Their story is so captivating from the beginning, you’ll be hooked.

Thank you so much Hannah for making me apart of your ARC team for this book!!🥰❤️‍🔥

Hannah really freaking killed it with this book. I’ve read all that she’s written, and I’ve seen an amazing growth from her as a writer. Craving the Player just proves how amazing she is and will continue to be. I also loved seeing some of the characters we already know and love making an appearance here, and to know where some of their stories are now. I’m not sure I can justify just how amazing this book was with my words, but I’m going to give it a try.

Braden doesn’t believe in love or commitment of any kind. He likes the freedom that comes with being a player and ending the night with a different girl each time. When a friend convinces him to come to a bar for a concert, he runs into the sassy, take no crap, brunette beauty that we all love, Sierra. She isn’t the biggest fan of his – or his ego – but somehow, they’re burning attraction leads them to having one insane night together.

Then one night turns into two, then three, and before they know it, they can’t stop seeing each other. They crave each other in a way that neither of them quite understands yet, but deep down, they know. They’re both just reluctant to admit it out of fear for what that means for the future. Especially since Sierra has just recently been burned by love and is fearful of feeling that level of hurt again.

Braden and Sierra’s banter is one of my favorite things about them. The way that he becomes soft for her, and the way that she lets her craving lead her to trust in accepting love again from someone else was a truly beautiful thing to watch.

And the smut besties…the freaking smut. This is probably the spiciest book that Hannah has written, and sis did NOT disappoint. Braden’s dirty mouth is addicting in more ways than one, and I literally could not get enough of it. It makes me even more excited for what’s next.

Craving the Player is a boxer romance with insta lust, slow burn emotion, one night stand turned more, with lots of spice and one of my favorite tropes – who hurt you? This is book one – and it leaves us on a bit of a cliffhanger – but book two is coming in 2022! I highly recommend this book!

It’s cravings and withdrawals all around in this steamy sports romance by Hannah Cowan, and the subject of ones cravings may not be as expected!

One opposed to love, the other nursing the severed ties of a previous commitment, the road paved before Sierra and Braden is set to be their greatest fight, the grand prize? Still undetermined. There is no doubt that Sierra and Braden have a sizzling chemistry, their trysts dominant between the sheets, and their quick wit and tongues complimented in the ring. From that first night between the sheets, and each night shared after, the chemistry burned upon the pages. The scenes are detailed and frequent and there is no doubt that Cowan has written this side of their chemistry well 🔥 Hot and bothered, it’s no wonder these two couldn’t stay away, chasing the thrill these cravings for one another had unlocked!

The arrogance of Braden was tough to swallow at first, but fortunately for him, the more time he spent around Sierra, the more he softened and grew on me. He may have been possessive, but there was a protective and fighter spirit woven into this that was a little endearing, and I enjoyed seeing those little moments outside of the bedroom where you got to see the growth in his character. There were even moments my heart reached for him with tenderness, his deep-rooted care for Sierra proving redemptive and admirable. I only wish there had been more of these moments between them, where defences were down and echoes of their hearts were borne upon their sleeve.

I loved the utilisation of dual POV in this book and the opportunities it allowed Cowan to show the cracks in each of the masks they wore, and the simmering emotions that lay dormant within, something which was so important considering both Sierra and Braden’s dispositions. It also helped in making these characters more human and relatable, which was great! Unfortunately the execution of these dual perspectives did at times disrupt the momentum when it would repeat the same moments in time from each perspective leading into those scenes when their paths converged. I believe a more seamless continuation between each POV would have avoided breaking down those hooks that carried each chapter and would have allowed a smoother transition and drawn me deeper into their story.

With a strong female lead in Sierra, and a redemptive player in Braden, Craving the Player is a great read for those looking for something easy and steamy to pass the night away. And with that cliffhanger ending, you may just find yourself coming back for a second serving of what these two are cooking up 😉 I for one can’t wait!

I have to say that I am baffled.

Hannah's writing has floored me. I'm picking up the pieces of my shattered heart of the floor. My jaw crashed on the floor too after that cliffhanger. Sierra and Braden were something else.

I haven't read a book where the character was a boxer in a long time. This one is amazing. Braden is the perfect book boyfriend (with flaws, of course but perfect nonetheless). Down from his pretty words to his actions. Everything he does for Sierra speaks volumes.

Sierra herself doubted that she could ever fall for a man who's known for being a player but there she was. Falling for his charms with every step she took until there was absolutely no denying it.

Don't get me started on that cliffhanger. I cannot wait to read the rest of their happily ever after.

Plot- 5⭐

Spice- 5⭐

Overall- 5⭐

Characters- 5⭐

I was honoured to have been able to beta read this book.

Braden and Sierra are so perfect together. Braden was an adorable grump. He was cocky at first but when started falling for Sierra, he became so whipped. I swooned half the time reading the chapters.
He may have been a player, but does treat his girl right. He is so respectful and protective of her

This might be the perfect slowburn I have ever read. Now, I cannot wait for the next one.

The ebook, Kindle Limited and paperback are all live now. Happy Release Day to the author.

Everybody needs to read this book.

Braden and Sierra are so hot! This maybe the 2nd most spiciest book I have ever read.

Cannot wait for the next installment!! Braden and Sierra deserve to have, idk, atleast two hundred books all about them. But that won't happen so I will settle for one more.

PS: Thank you, author, for creating so amazing characters!

Happy Writing/Reading.💜

My only regret is I didn’t wait till taming the player was out so I could read it right away. But I really did love this one. They were hot as hell together and parts I just wanted to slap either of them. I wanna get more of her anxiety stuff that is in the story. But looking forward to the sequel.

No matter how much the author tried to make the MC a grumpy asshole f*ckboy, he was a sweetheart from the very beginning 😈♥️

I really loved the Banter, how the characters were realising they were falling for each other but still weren’t paying attention to it.

Can’t wait for Barden’s Grovelling in the next book and oh one more thing, he is the perfect book boyfriend 🤌🏼🥵❤️

Steamy. Cocky grins. Stubborn attitudes. 3 ways sum up this book. Totally worth the read, especially if you love a cliffhanger! Can't wait to finish their story!

Okay folks, here we go again.
How is it possible that when Hannah announces a new release I just KNOW, in my very soul, that I'll have to buckle the hell up? Every damn time.
And she did it again.

Craving the Player is a contemporary romance that follows the story of Braden and Sierra, two characters in their mid-twenties just trying to figure out their life as they go. One thing I really liked about this book is how down-to-earth and relatable some situations and backstories were. I am not a big fan of spoilers, so I'm just gonna say that as we go discovering and understanding both character's pasts and experiences, there are many times when we can say "Been there, done that". Or maybe not all of us, but they are real life, plausible situations that make you relate to their emotions and behaviours. It is hard to think of a character as obnoxious or irritating when you understand where their feelings come from.
I really liked the humour on this book, the banter between them was both funny and hot. At the same time. I still don't know how Hannah does this but, girl, fantastic. Sierra was really witty, I liked her sarcasm and quick replies. Braden, on the other hand, was softer than I expected. And I absolutely loved it. Yes, definitely an asshole to everyone, but amazing with her. What can I say? I love that trope.
I absolutely cannot (and will not) end this review without talking about the spice. Because hot damn, this book goes all the way. The only thing I regret is that it ended.
Which leads me to my last point. I am sitting here, sipping my green tea, needing the second book like, yesterday. That ending, my God. But we know better than to hurry Hannah's process, because we are all witnesses of the amazing things she creates and delivers. If the next one is as good as this one, I am sure it will blow minds.

So go, buy this book. Read it. Swoon, fan yourself and tear up. Every minute is worth it.
