The fifth Mountain Man adventure with Mountain Man and Longhunter from Mike Mackessy has arrived!
Rory leads his family out of the Yellowstone Valley, chased by a forest fire started by an enemy, Comes the Thunder. In his hate of Rory and his family, the exiled Crow destroys thousands of acres of forest, rivers, and animals. The family splits up at the cross trail to St. Louis. They head in different directions to take care of family and personal business. Through additional trials, the family regroups in Taos, New Mexico. In order to make a living, they turn from trappers and Indian traders to ranchers. The transition is not made easily, but the strong family bonds win out. This story is the beginning to a new phase in the life of Rory the Mountain Man and Longhunter and his extended family.
This ongoing exciting series of unending adventures will definitely pacify anyone' expectations!
Definitely another five star masterpiece by Mr. Mackessy, who is so descriptive in his descriptive renditions of realistic old American western folklore justice and adventures! No slow downs as the Author leaves no stone unturned in his determination to bring to life Texas realistically renditions of how I often perceived our old American West was finally tamed! Outstanding storylines throughout this compelling western folklore extravaganza that grabs your undivided attention immediately and never falters throughout the Author's successful descriptiveness of each and every exciting new encounter develops! Too, the character selections could not have been any better portrayed, as they continuously fulfilled their dedicated assignments from beginning to end! Certainly recommend this compassionately motivated success story to all readers, but especially to you dyed in the wool western folklore enthusiasts, as I profess to be. No slow downs, and you non-western followers will find yourselves riding along as part of these dedicated individuals, who seek their peace and tranquility in their efforts to improve their daily lives of unending excitement and adventures!!!😃
I have had it with Mackessy's books. In my opinion. Every book is 3/4 written when he starts as he just retells the stories from the previous 4 books. He starts a story and then just drops it never finishing it. It is almost like he has Alzheimer's and does not remember anything. So if you don't mind rereading a story 5 time read Mackessy.
Good transition from mountain man to rancher tale.
I’ve given 5 stars to the other Rory books I’ve read. This one contained chapters from his previous book. Had he summarized those, I’d have good with that. Not ok rereading entire chapters. I thought my electronic copy was messed up, so I redownloaded it! Geez.
This is a great book in the series. Love the characters in the book and their struggles Their grit and determination to survive as a family unit are the heart of the story. Love how new people are woven into the group to become family. Cannot wait for next book
