Tyler's life is rapidly spinning out of control. He has blown his inheritance and his studies, and worked at a succession of menial jobs with no prospects. Things slowly start to change when he meets Katie, a psychology student, two years into her doctorate. Realising Tyler lacks discipline and direction, Katie provides it, and as their female-led relationship progresses, she also dispenses appropriate punishments for Tyler's misdemeanours. Unused to being spanked, Tyler comes to accept it is for his own benefit, and is happy to have Katie take control. His road to submission has not been without problems, but he ultimately embraces the fact that he is a submissive husband.
This is the first book of W. Arthur I've read. It's a good story of FLR / Femdom involving a loving but a very strict disciplinarian woman. Sadly, there was not enough tension such a story demands. The story moved from one spanking scene to another with everything else happening as filler. Characterization was weaker, as at times the main character's actions felt illogical and sometimes out of his character. I can understand the reason. W. Arthur is more of a short-stories author of this genre, and he's handling the novels in similar fashion. And this is not a bad approach actually, it just needs some refining. This story is not bad either. It's surely worth reading. I just hope he improves in his future attempts, as he seems to have the potential of writing a masterpiece of this genre.
Loving relationship from first “date” through marriage told to us firsthand by husband. He gets punished for infractions deliberate or not. What missed here was a deeper delve into his emotions as he’s being punished, then stood in the corner for contemplation. Also, the hot sex that often follows a punishment was merely skimmed over. However, W. Arthur is far from the worst author in this genre, and hopefully will improve with future efforts which I hope will be forthcoming.
I actually liked the story. The writing was good all around, from grammar, punctuation and spelling, so there was nothing to insult the intelligence of the reader. The structure, ie story arc, was well drawn and the characters grew in the parts written for them. However, there seemed to be to this reader, that there was very little difference between the pro and antagonist and the action they experienced. Every action a/o conflict that grew between the 2 main characters of the story seemed, after awhile, to fall into something resembling a routine with the same repetition of action that changed very little. So the “conflict” each time just remained like the same cup of “lukewarm coffee”, if you will. Now the caveat; I admit that I still enjoyed the read! This author does know how to write, hence this story could get another star 😉.
