Sometimes our wayward thoughts… Can come back to haunt us. Alpaca farmer, avid crocheter, and amateur sleuth, Josephina Thompson, wasn’t thrilled to hear that a competing yarn store was opening up in town, but after some thought, she decided that a little friendly competition never hurt anyone. Maybe she and the woman who runs the new store could even be friends.
After all, they obviously share some common interests. Jo’s hopes for friendship are crushed however, when the owner of the new yarn shop is found dead, under some very sketchy circumstances. Finding herself once again at the center of the town’s attention, and hurt by the knowledge that, this time, even her friends don’t seem to know whether or not to believe the rumors about her, Jo knows that she’s the one who has to get to the bottom of the murder, and fast.
A little investigation goes a long way, but will Jo find the answers in time to avoid losing everything? Find out in this Homespun Cozy Mystery!
When Cozy Mystery author, Patti Benning, isn’t busy plotting the deaths of multiple fictitious characters, she loves to spend time hiking with her rescue dog, Max, who is her bestest writing buddy.
Patti loves to cook and the food in her books has been tried and tested in her very own kitchen. She’s technologically shy, and stays away from social media a great deal, because it makes her feel more awkward and introverted than meeting someone face to face.
Writing is the perfect job for her because in her books, she gets to explore all the topics she loves, food, animals, crafts and reading. She loves her readers dearly, and is thankful for the opportunity to share with them through her work.

I felt so sorry for Jo when she found a new shop owner dead in said new shop. The woman was sort of her competition, so the town seemed to turn on Jo since everyone was so eager for the woman to open her craft shop.
I figured out pretty quickly whodunit, but it was interesting to see just when it'd click with Jo, or if she'd need her PI pal Alex's help. Her two friends Laurie and Lula were so good and supportive of her as was sweet Rose from next door who'd found the body with Jo. The showdown was exciting but fairly quick with the perp getting hauled away. I missed Nick being in most of the book, but the ending was so cute, it made up for it! Looking forward to borrowing the next on KU when it's out!
Jo learns a new craft store is opening in town. She worries about the impact on her store. When she meets the new owner and learns that the craft store will have little that competes with her yarn she feels better. Then she and Rose stop by on opening day to drop of done if Roses baked goods and find her murdered. Jo tries to solve the murder as the co owner of the craft store believes Jo did it. Lots of twists and turns with a surprise ending.
4.5 rounded up— I’ve read and figured out whodunnit for all of books in the series in order. I thought this one moved a little slower & was wordier than usual, plus the manner of murder seemed particularly gruesome (for a cozy mystery) but it was still a pretty good story. I like that these are all quick reads and that a newer hobby of mine (crochet) gets a lot of mention. The animals are fun too. I like to read these in between my favorite genre which is thrillers. Even though I’ve had them figured out very easily every time, the storytelling, characters and plots are good.
A great addition to a wonderful series. As always this author has produced a book that is entertaining and well written. The characters are memorable and the storyline interesting. The mystery is well plotted, keeping you guessing about the killers identity.
Jo is getting competition in the form of a new crafts store in town. When the owner is killed Jo becomes the primary suspect. She has to investigate to clear her name!
Jo gets a new competitor in the yarn world. she thought it would be a friendly rivalry but soon it turns deadly. She becomes prime suspect and even her clientele thinks she offed off her competitor.
Once again she has to figure the real killer to save her name and business. It is another quick paced story.
Love this series. Jo has some competition opening in town that turns deadly. This time things ate very personal for her. Original, well written with fun characters & animals. I look for ward to reading more.
If you love animals, Jo has quite the collection and not age adds one more. This is a delightful series that will just make you feel good. With a murder or two to keep you on your toes:
