I'm surrounded by beautiful monsters, and they think I'm one of them.

Sometime ago, I was captured by the Fae and stolen from my home to a place of eternal spring. It's beautiful here, or at least it would be, if everything wasn't trying to kill me.

Arcadia isn't good to humans. The one thing I've got in my favor is, I don't look human anymore; not since my ex-roommate Kady stole my appearance, forced me to look like her, and then made tracks back to Earth, leaving me trapped here, pretending to be someone I'm not.

Kady was supposed to take part in some Fae competition called the Favoring, but she's gone, and now I'm the one holding the ball. I'm outclassed, outmatched, but even worse than all that, I find myself constantly thinking about the tall, dark, and distant man that kidnapped me.

The Viscount. He could've killed me by now, but he hasn't, and as the days go by, I feel like I'm drawing closer to him. He's a distraction I can't afford, not if I want to find a way back home.

*Thoughts*

Roses is the second installment in author Katerina Martinez's The Devious Fae series. This story takes place in the same world (Arcadia) as the authors previous series The Coldest Fae. There are similarities in that both main characters were kidnapped from their homes in the human realm, and stolen away into Fae where they are now at the mercy of those who are much more dangerous than she is. This series takes place in the Fae court of Spring. Avery Rose is the main character in this story.

Roses starts right where we left off in Thorns and dives straight in to the deep end. The characters are intriguing and intense and there's so much depth to each and every one of them I cannot wait to find out more! The world of Arcadia itself is such an unknown, never knowing what she will throw up next keeps the readers attention from start to finish. There is a whirlwind of action, danger, complex emotions, and deception within their book that will keep you glued to the pages. I am completely invested in this world and story and I cannot wait to see what happens next!

*possible spoilers*

In the human world Spring is welcomed by most with smiles and a breath of relief for the new season. In Arcadia, to Avery, Spring could mean death at any second!
Stuck in Arcadia, the Favoring begins and pretending to be Kady, Avery can't do anything to stop it so instead she takes life's punches as they're thrown at her and comes out stronger for it. But everything isn't as it had originally seemed, there's danger in the Favoring something she hadn't been told about and to make matters worse the Viscount seems to have something wrong and Avery can't shake the feeling that it is because of her and she is dead set on helping him. One wrong move could mean her death but she's determined to come out on top

This book is the second in the Devious Fae series. I absolutely adore the premise behind this series, and I think Avery is a very interesting character. These fae are not much like the fae in the author’s Coldest Fae series, and for some reason that throws me off. No matter, because this was an interesting book in the series, but I’m not happy about a development…I don’t think. I am still not sure how I feel about it. LOL! You’ll have to read it to find out what I mean. This is a well-written, action-filled book filled with a few surprises. I’m looking forward to the next one. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Devious and Hilarious!

I freaking love everything about this story! Im
so over the moon with the relationship Avery and Rell have! Is like no other I’ve seen! So much sarcasm, heart and insults! They keep it real and straight to the point! I had tears from laughing so hard!!! Those two make everything so much better and that ending has me preOrdering the next book so fast!! SOO FREAKING GOOD! If you like unique faerie like stories with deadly fae and the best laugh out loud friendships scenes then YOU HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK!!! Amazing! Oh and the romance? that’s a plus and it just got interesting 😈

Oh my! This was fantastic. The relationships in this book are just amazing. Avery and Elaith have this hate relationship that borders on insanity. Then Avery and Rell are like too best friends who have grown up together and really get each other and always know the right thing to say. Then there is the like/hate between her and the Viscount because well it’s not love yet. But definitely headed in the love direction or is it?? The story itself is brilliant, beautifully told and wonderful descriptions. I’m really loving this series. If you love Fae this is one to read!

Avery, Rell, and the Viscount - an unlikely trio! They're back, and Avery is plunged into a competition between houses, but someone doesn't want her to win. Just like someone doesn't want the Viscount to survive the parasite taking over his body. Can the the little half drake, half sprite (on his mother's side) actually lead them through a forbidden forrest? It's another great adventure, full of sizzle, by Katerina Martinez. I've read this author for years now, and never been disappointed!

No part of this story was anything like I was expecting it to be. If I’m being brutally honest, I didn’t know quite where this story was going to take me, but it was still so far beyond my wildest imaginings. There are so many things I want to say about this book, however I don’t dare. It’s full of twists and revelations that I fear I’ll ruin the surprise. And, in so many ways, that ending has kind of wiped all the thoughts about the rest of the book from my brain. Despite all evidence to the contrary, I refuse to believe this book is over already. I NEED to know what happens next.

The story this author told to some really amazing directions, that I didn't even think of. I was completely hooked by the twists and turns that occurred. There are some really interesting characters that keep popping up. The chemistry of the two characters is hot. That ending was so good, really need the next one like yesterday. I highly recommend reading this book and series, you will enjoy every minute of it.

Another action packed story! I like that Avery remains who she is despite all the Fae telling her to behave like a fae. I hope the Viscount succeeds in getting that parasite removed. I loved reading this book as much as I have loved reading the series! I am absolutely gutted about the loss at the end. Tragic.

Addictive

Katerina Martinez is taking readers on a magickal journey with each book she writes. The stories she spins are so beautifully written and detailed that I get lost in the scenes. Having read all her books I can say that this is an agonizing time now waiting for the next installment. No spoilers here. Read for yourself and enjoy.

I really enjoyed the look into the heart of the forest of Arcadia in book two as well as meeting more of the sprites.

Some witty quips and some courtly intrigues getting uncovered was really interesting.

I mean I prefer the coldest fae series by this author but nonetheless it was an alright book, nice and fast paced to help get me out of a reading slump with a few twists near the end. I’ll probably still read the next installment

Amazing!!🌟🌟

I absolutely loved this book!! The journey Avery took along with Silvan and Rell was so greatly worded that I felt like I was there while they faced so many dangerous enemies. I really hope Rell survived.😣onto book 3.

Good but bad editing makes it hard to read

I've invested so much into this author's books, so I continue to read. I don't know why all the books have simple edits missed. It is rather annoying as the storyline is good.

This was… well, boring.

I had such high expectations! I love the whole “trapped as someone else” storyline, and I was looking forward to diving into it and seeing what she would do. What did she do? Well, pretty much immediately got out of it, that’s what.

For 10 whole seconds, I wasn’t bored.

I don’t know. Nothing happened but a failed escape attempt and ANOTHER betrayal. It doesn't exactly hit as hard the second time around. I really couldn’t care less about Avery or the Viscount. After two books, I should care at least a little bit, no?
