This is a Dark Romance Suspense, and this is the first book in A Joint Task Team series. This book does have some things in it that could cause triggers to some readers, so please look into the trigger warnings before reading this book. The characters in this book was so much fun to follow. The main characters of this book were Grace and Chase. Chase is an Alpha Male, and Grace is a hard headed woman that gives Chase a run for his money. I really love getting to know all the characters in this book, and I know I will keep reading this series. This book has funny moments, suspense, romance with a lot of steamy times, and great characters. I won a Kindle edition of this book from a Goodreads giveaway. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.

This book had me hooked from the first page. I loved Gray and Chase and the rest of the characters and the way the author brought them to life with her words. With just the right mix of suspense, action and romance, enough of the side characters to catch your attention and also the development of some characters you didn't expect. I was sorry to get to the end but fortunately there is the rest of the series to look forward to.

This was a good read. I appreciated how it wasn’t a fully happily ever after. It seemed realistic with how not everyone was saved/safe.

Side note: I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review

This romantic suspense kept me on the edge of my seat! Chase and Gray were thrown together during a mission to catch some seriously sadistic bad guys. Both of them had to work together for the greater good. Gray is stubborn as hell and Chase is determined to have her. Along the way there was action and secrets spilled that kept my jaw on the floor. All the suspense and romance was so hot! Just read this book please!

This book was packed with action. From the start, Gray led an exciting life When she came home to her best friend Tara, she let her hair down and relaxed. Her boss, Jackson, seemed to keep sending her on dangerous missions taking photos of current events or events about to happen that he knew about. He wrote the stories and she took the pictures When she gets in a precarious position, Chase (who had been sent by her father and his boss (the Colonel) he rescues her and they start their adventure of getting closer and closer. I loved the interaction with Gray and Grant. Their pet names for each were hilarious. By the end of the story,Gray had regained one person in her family and lost 3 of the most important people in her life. Great story and I look forward to more to come

I truly enjoyed this book! Gray Emerson is a badass. I loved how independent she was, even though some if it was a trauma response.

The story/mystery element was extremely well thought out and planned.

I seriously enjoyed Chase, he was hot as hell and super protective.

I also liked the supporting crew from the JTT, her family and Grant.

My only drawback was that I didn’t think the Tara character added to the plot, especially her ARC. There was enough other stuff motivating Gray without it. The other thing I was not huge in was instalust.

Overall, I liked this book a lot! I will definitely read the next one in the series.

WOW ! This story is fantastic. There is so much action that it kept me involved and wanting more. She's had a lot of grief and comes from a military family. He just wants to keep her safe and isn't looking for anything else. I laughed ,cheered. And was sad and it has a HEA. I was blown away by this book!

I rarely try new authors, but I'm so glad I took a chance on this one. The story is fast-paced with more than a few jaw-dropping shocking twists, and the writing style is snarky, inventive, and filled with wordplay that beautifully and succinctly gets the point across every time, with a brilliant use of humor more often than not.

Chase is on assignment for his special ops team when he happens to cross paths with Grace, who has been sent there as a photo-journalist. When everything blows up, he's the only one who can save her life, which necessitates taking her back to his team's HQ. Nothing is as it seems, except for who Grace and Chase are, and I was stunned speechless a few times by the twisty secrets that were exposed along the way.

These two have chemistry for days, but she's sworn off military men - and for very good reasons. Chase has his work cut out for him, not just in keeping her safe but also in convincing her that their love story is inevitable.

Their HEA is perfect, and I can't wait to read the next book in this series. If you love romances where sassy heroines are paired up with Men Who Get Things Done, then this book was written for you. I couldn't have loved it more. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

Full of Twists and Turns . . .

Chase Mackenzie is pure alpha, lining up a ton of amazing goals of finding the bad guy, completing his mission, protecting the lady, and maybe convincing her to be his. And risk-taking photographer Grace Emerson is amazing as well while she takes everything in stride and handles it like a pro. She’s smart, sassy, and able to hold her own amid the danger. Will Chase win her heart? Will he capture the terrorist?

I love the non-stop action and suspense in this story line. The characters are wonderful and easy to like. Grab your copy and read about their Joint Task Team mission.

This is a well written military romance with a cast of strong characters centering on Chase and Grace. The author does a terrific job pulling you in with all the action and romance as well as the team brotherhood. She kept me glued to the pages with all the suspense as well as the twists and turns. Her scenes are painted perfectly and the story flows fluidly as she delivers a fantastic story. I'm looking forward to the next book. Loved and recommend.

This is the first book in a new series, and I received the ARC from Hidden Gems. The series starts with the Joint Task Team, a covert group of special forces guys on the trail of a dangerous man. Chase Mackenzie is staking out a possible meet location for this terrorist, when he crosses paths with a freelance photographer, Grace (Gray). From then, the story takes off with plenty of twists and turns that keep you guessing. Good action and adventure with two people who might think they do not want a relationship but have found their true match.

I enjoyed this read, but admit it was distracting that Grace is called by several different names throughout.

Also, the storyline got confusing at times, but trying to explain here would give far too many spoilers.

I would recommend this book to those who understand that there is a lot of death in a short amount of time, and how Grace gets through it is beyond my comprehension...

Chasing Grace is the first book in A Joint Task Team series by Edith Lalonde. Brilliant characters, hot romance, super dangerous twisty situations - suspense / action, and a gripping story make this book a five star read and a series that shouldn't be missed. Chasing Grace is thrilling, compelling, gripping, raw, edge of your seat page turner, dark, twisted, and a wild ride that I enjoyed from the beginning to the end with effortless and poignant writing and storytelling. It follows best of the best members of a black ops unit specialized for covert operations. These tough, dangerous, fiercely protective brave men are brought together to protect their country from enemies near and far, making them a tight-knit group, the core of the team only counting on themselves by having each other's back which made their friendship / brotherhood / bond stronger and unbreakable.

Grace and Chase are hard-headed and stubborn. She stood her ground with him and he was protective of her from the beginning. I really loved how their relationship developed. They are both surprised by their attraction and willingness to explore more. Both have a mindset of not pursuing the relationship at the beginning because Chase needs to remain laser-focused and can't afford the distraction while Grace spent her life dodging romantic entanglements. They both took each other by surprise. Their chemistry and tension were everything. I liked them from the moment they interacted the first time. Grace's sassiness is what drew Chase in besides her personality. Their love might be born out of tragedy and danger but it’s a unique love story. These two made me smile, laugh, swoon, cry and experience a lot of feelings along the way.

So well-written, so enjoyable, so entertaining with amazing characters, banter, action / danger and romance. An amazing start to this series. Cannot wait for the next book.

Chasing Grace is full of action and suspense. Grace Emerson has lost everything close to her. Her father, a general in the military, was married to his job, her mom was the other women. Her brother was KIA, and Her mom lost her battle to cancer shortly after. With only her best friend Tara by her side (who suffers from cancer as well) they both have vowed to live life to the fullest. For Grace this means living life on the edge. Taking dangerous photography assignments with little background knowledge from her ex Jackson. Grace loves the thrill of the dangerous assignments, but little does she know how dangerous her next one will be for both her physical safety and her heart.

I was given an ARC of Chasing Grace from Book Siren. I loved the cover and the summary of the book. Overall I liked the story line of Saving Grace. Strong independent woman in danger who doesn’t need saved by a man but is anyways. Who falls hopelessly in love with a military man.

To me the book felt a little all over the place. There were times I had to go back and reread a few pages to get a good sense of what was going on. The book jumped around a lot. At some points I felt like it skipped over possible important details and I’m others I felt like it just repeated what was said in the last chapter. I definitely think this book could benefit from a multiple perspective type of writing. I think it would have helped the flow and understanding of the story a bit better. This is book 1 of 3 so I was satisfied with not having all the answers at the end of the book.

Overall it was a good read, but not one I am likely to revisit.

Grace is not a fan of men in the military, understatement of the century. Thanks to the military, the men of her family have given Grace some serious abandonment issues. Now she relies on only herself and is known for her amazing photography skills in places that others don’t go. Currently those places have landed her in the middle of yet another dangerous operation and black ops soldier Chase has to try to keep her with him and alive long enough to get her to talk about what she knows. Until he feels the need to fight for more than just her survival.
This was a great action packed read. I have never read any of Lalonde’s books but after reading this I can safely say I’m hooked. I loved the pace and the twists in the plot; there was one particular twist that I was waiting for that didn’t happen, but hasn’t been ruled out yet either, so I can’t wait to read the next in the series. You can see the thought that was put into the character development, the camaraderie evident between each in the team. Gray is an awesome character. Her nicknames, her tone and general sass. I enjoyed reading about Chase and Grace’s relationship, although admittedly I had a few moments while he was going on about ownership that I wanted her to punch and leave him and I do like Grant much better. I would recommend this book, as I couldn’t put it down and can’t wait for the next one. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book from BookSirens. Edith Lalonde is a new to me author and I must say I am impressed. The characters, the pacing, the balance of danger, suspense, drama and romance were perfect. At no time did I feel the stories lagged. Ms Lalonde runs the gamut of emotions with the events that make up Chasing Grace and does it in spectacular style. The black ops Joint Team Task (JTT) is tasked with bringing down an arms dealer with ties to a senior level corrupt government offical and a risk to national security. There was murder, kidnapping, assault and a mysterious disappearance. The JTT members are introduced in this first book of the series. They're diverse, richly layered and genuinely likeable. I can't wait to read all of their stories.

I liked Chase Mackenzie and Grace Emerson from the get-go. They are stellar and their story is captivating. They're thrown together by chance but also fated because of common bonds. He's career military, tenacious, focused, a protector and dedicated. She's a daredevil with a take no prisoners attitude, a world renowned photographer who manages to often be at the right place at the right time and a woman with some personal demons. Rescuing her from the arms' dealers he's tracking sets off a chain of events neither could have imagined.

Not my cup of coffee.

First of all, this is not HEA book. There's death everywhere (not the bad guy, but literally heaps of bystander) and it's a bit depressing. Then we have our heroine, Gray/Grace, whose behavior towards people were uncalled for. She's not being tough, but she's being hostile, rude, and just pure dangerous to others. She was hardly like-able as a fictional person nor real person.

Also, there's some sort of love triangle that I'm not really enjoy. It's weird, should be announce because it's different kind of book. Plus the whole book based on coincidence, which turn me off. What are the odds of Gray saved by her dad's team and meet her supposed-to-be-dead brother on an assignment? You know what people said about coincidences..

Last but not least, it's too long. Like just dragging on and on and then, ta-da! Some innocent people died. I questioned myself along the way, what is this book's about again? I thought it was military romance or romance suspense or something? Maybe the author aiming to be more authentic that way, but to be honest it just made me feel like reading a autobiography or history or even some sort of motivational book where the author has suffered great loss and raise again like a phoenix.

Happy sigh. Such a great read! Full disclosure: I read book 2 before this one (book 1), and when I had the opportunity to read an ARC of this one, I jumped at the chance. Even so, I was a little disappointed that I'd already "know" stuff. I shouldn't have worried; I enjoyed every minute of this action-packed romantic special forces/suspense novel.

Gray/Grace is a fantastic heroine, she's a strong, tough character with a hilarious potty mouth who also manages to be vulnerable and loyal. It's no wonder Chase felt gobsmacked pretty much from his first glimpse of her. The same adjectives describe Chase, actually, but we expect them of ex-military/dark-opsy heroes.

While both books can be read as standalones, I recommend starting at the beginning (i.e., with book 1). Each book (including, presumably, future books) follows one task-force dude and the woman who entrances him, but there is a significant overarching storyline and several smaller ones that thread through them.

I can't wait for the next book!

OMG, what an adrenaline rush. This is all out action from start to finish and it's a thrilling ride. Well written, the story flowed at breakneck speed it was hard to put down as there was just no good place to take a break. There's plenty of suspense with twists and turns, and then more twists, and lots of emotion. I just loved the main characters, Grey, what a spitfire she is, if she could put herself in harm’s way then she ran full pelt in that direction, and Chase, the type A, married to the military type, who went into protector mode overdrive even before coming to the realisation that she was his future. Good luck convincing her of that! The banter between these two was outstanding, made me laugh and cut so much of the tension their situation created, it was almost out done by that between her and Kincaid, one of the amazing secondary characters this story has. We are far from the end of this adventure with the JTT, can't wait for the next in the series.

(4.5) I am destined to leaving thousands of books in my tbr pile because I keep finding new authors. Edith Lalonde is a first time author for me. I am going to finish this review and grab book 2. This book was fast paced, things happening every time I turned the page. When I finish I could feel my pulse pounding. The evil in this book permeated the pages. The shocks that came were mini (sort of saw or thought) to max (had no flipping clue) and enhanced this book. The friendship of the black ops is to be expected. There were moments that were emotional and heart wrenching to me. Laughter, steam, anguish, twists, I was on a roller coaster. Grace you are one tough cookie with a soft marshmallow. Chase (aka Mac) also called num-nuts it was a toss up for me between you and Rusty Eyes. Please, please, please tell me Rusty Eyes gets his HEA. Many thanks for allowing me the pleasure of receiving this arc through BookSirens. I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.

The first story in the Joint Task Team series from Edit Lalonde is a cracking start that is sure to bring readers back for more.

The story of Chase MacKenzie (Mac) and Grace Emerson (Gray) is fast paced with just the right amount of intrigue, romance, spice, friendship. In short, it has a lot going for it. The supporting characters in the story, Grant, Adam, Tak and even Z and Cody have been introduced and established such that I want to find out more about each of them!

The reasons I docked one star are more personal preference. I found Gray leaning more towards bratty than strong at times and secondly, the casual use of curse words. I'm not at all averse to curse words, but it was a bit too much for me in this one.

Of course, in no way does this 'complain' detract me from wanting to read the next novels in the series! Keep it going, author, you are doing an absolutely wonderful job!

P.S. I received an ARC of this novel in return for a voluntary, unbiased review.

Chasing Grace by Edith Lalonde, Was Definitely a Reading Win!

Let me start by saying that I was not sure that I wanted to read this book, after reading the book blurb, so I decided to read book two first.

Book two introduced me to the Authors writing style, and the characters, which brought me back to this book.

This book is a tear jerker, so my advice is to have Kleenex handy.

The characters in this series are definitely worth getting to know!

Sergeant Chase Mackenzie, the "H", (1 of 6 members of the (JTT) - Joint Task Team), and Grace (Gray) Emerson, the "h", (Freelance Photographer), are both strong adrenaline pumping characters that will melt your heart.

I laughed, and I cried, and I am looking forward to the next book in this series!

Chasing Grace is an emotional rollercoaster ride that includes espionage, love, loyalty, political mistakes and brotherhood. The story line is so well done you feel as if you might be reading a nonfiction account of an event. Character development is amazing even though thus I'd the first in a series I can see these characters in my head. You believe in the characters and their personalities grab hold of the reader and do not let go. This book book is not a fairy tail and good people die. I like the way Chase and Grace do not immediately fall in love there is give and take between them.
This is the first Edith Lalonde book I have read but I quarantine it will not be the last. She portrays her character with passion and you can tell she loves her job.
I received this as an ARC and this is my voluntary review.

This book has lots of action, suspense and sizzle. The main characters are Gray and Chase.

Gray is a photographer that is highly sought after and always gets the best shots so her partner Jackson can write the story. How Jackson comes up with where he sends Gray she doesn't know. He just calls and she goes where he sends her more often than not to dangerous situations.

Chase is part of the JTT and is on assignment doing recon trying to find the main person that is in charge of bringin in arms to the US.

They are brought together as Chase saves her from the bad guys and as Grace knows he is some type of military, she is automatically snarky. She has stated that she will never be involved with a military man.

There is so much action in this story that I couldn't put it down. Great start for the JTT series and I can't wait for more.

Fast paced adventure with a feisty h with mad skills going toe to toe with a military man who very much thinks he’s in command. Grace and Chase butt heads a number of times, and somehow seem to bump lips a time or two as well.
This was a likeable story with a found family( my personal favourite) of side characters with a rather salty vocabulary. I don’t know why that screams military camaraderie to me, but it does. I really like the way Lalonde writes her characters. She’s able to convey all their emotions and make me so invested in them.
As I said earlier this was fast paced, maybe a little too fast paced at the end as it seemed like all these things were happening at once but I only really understood what happened with the MC’s. There was a subplot line that was not resolved so I will be continuing the series.

Thank you to Booksirens. This is my honest opinion.
