The Haunting of Bluefield Plantation by Alexandria Clarke

Luella and her brother Ben inherit their Grandfather's Plantation. Once there Lou begins to experience usual events, which become frequent and spooky. Ben is determined to sell, while Lou is intrigued and wants to uncover the secrets of Bluefield.

A fast paced story with plenty of twists, turns, secrets and surprises. I liked the History of the Plantation, the family secrets revealed, and of course the ghostly events. Overall I enjoyed The Haunting of Bluefield Plantation and recommend to those who enjoy a paranormal/ghost story.

There's nothing like a good spooky book to enjoy on a cold winter's night!

Lou and Ben are shocked to learn they've inherited their Grandfather Earl's mansion. They used to spend summers there as children, until a horrible accident ended those cherished visits. Lou, especially loved her grandfather and despite always having nightmares on those summer visits, she loved the estate and all it's quirky secret rooms.

The kids are adults now and have not seen their grandfather for 20 years. They never went back to the small town in all that time and Lou especially, regrets not seeing her grandfather in his last years. She missed her best girlhood friend, as well. She didn't know how much, until she returned.

Ben is a struggling realtor in New York, desperately trying to make a name for himself. All he can see are dollar signs once the inheritance is revealed on the day of Earl's funeral. He wants to sell the plantation and land, making a fortune in the sale.

Lou is a nomad, never having settled down with a career, or home of her own. She has not been able to establish any roots and while she loves her father, she can't stand her step-mother, who comes off as a money loving woman with grandiose ideas. Her Dad has been distant to his children, though he does love them. There are things he doesn't understand from his own childhood, and secrets that are destined to be revealed. Once the new owners are revealed in Earl's will, Dad becomes fearful for his children, while his wife is jealous that they are not the new owners.

This story was everything you want in a scary book. It was interesting, with very neat characters, both living and dead! The twists were cool, and the ending was right on. Who doesn't want to inherit a wonderful old house full of antiques? Just leave out the ghosts and I'm in!

Good storyline

One plot twist & I was able to figure out pretty much what would happen. There are some unanswered questions I still have but maybe Alexandria will give us a sequel??? Good read, very enjoyable!

Excellent from Alexandria as always

Another winner from Alexandria, superb storyline, well written although there were a few typos but not enough to detract from excellent writing skills of ms Clarke.
Lou and Ben are in shock after inheriting Bluefield plantation from their eccentric but absent grandfather, bypassing their father entirely , they head out there to see the place for the first time since they were kids and decide what to do with it , they can't agree on a suitable path forward though and although they've never been very close they've always gotten along but staying at Bluefield a rift develops and it's looking increasing unlikely that they'll ever be anything like close again, is the money and inheritance coming between them or is it something else a lot more sinister ?

Skip this. Unless you like ridiculous political pandering.

This could have been good. I was enjoying it until the author decided to try and manipulate readers with her warped, backwards ideology.
Apparently 'liberals' believe the way to fight racism is to appoint themselves morally superior to everyone else. Then exploit minorities non-stop while demonizing white people and relentlessly pitting us against each other.
For tolerance, or something.
I'm so sick of it. Martin Luther King wanted his children judged by the content of their character. Not their race. It's ironic the same political party that fought him for so long are now trashing his teachings so they can cling to power they have always done nothing but abuse.

I loved reading The Haunting Of Bluefield Plantation. This book came with so many twists. It was a great book to read if you like books with unexpected twists to plots. The ending I did not see coming at all, but the thing I loved most was the LGBTQIA+ representation between Nike and Lou. I can't wait to see if this book gets a spin-off because I definitely wanna see where this story goes. The horror aspect of this book was very wonderfully written. I even looked up if this was based on a true story because of the author doing such a great job with the horror writing, as I'm a huge Folklore & Legends girl I live for a good legend 😂 keep up the good work Alexandria 💙

Another gripping ghost story by Alexandra Clarke

I chose this rating because it's very different from the usual ghost story. It has a unique plot involving a curse and some very nasty ghosts bent on revenge. Also why grandpa became a recluse. It involves possession and some very scary spirits. Lou and Ben have to do some learning and accepting of themselves, their father and what love and closeness is really about. They also
learn about personal history and the value of learning about the past.

This was a fun haunted house story with some light mystery thrown in. Lou’s grandfather dies and leaves his estate to Lou and her brother. They haven’t seen their grandfather since a tragic accident when Lou was ten. Now, Lou and her brother travel to the plantation their grandfather owned, each with a different plan in mind. Lou’s brother wants to flip the house as quickly as possible, and Lou wants to explore her family’s history—and keep the land. When Lou starts seeing strange specters, she realizes there’s more to the plantation than meets the eye.

When Louella and her brother Ben inherit their grandfathers plantation and home. They have two different plans, Louella wants to get back to her roots, and reconnect with the memories she has of visiting there as a child. Ben wants to update and sell the property. I really loved this story. The history is fantastic, the characters relatable and just spooky enough to satisfy. I always give 5 stars with original story lines that aren't typical of the genre or show me something new I've never seen or thought of before. Definitely worth it.

Great Book

I really enjoyed this book! The story kept my attention from beginning to end. The characters were well written, interesting and engaging. I loved the premise of the story that we are all bound by family history, and that sometimes those ties can be painful and confusing. It was well worth reading.

This is a nicely written novel, although what threw me off was the present-tense voice of the narrator. It just seemed awkward to me and made the story drag a bit.

Conversely, other readers may find this voice of the story their cup of tea and right up their alley.

Great Read

It's been a while since I read a a book that kept my attention and I enjoyed , like I did this one. It didn't linger on and didn't go as figured. It wasn't extremely long and very enjoyable. Alexandria Clark is very talented and thorough. I like and appreciate her and I think you would also. Give her a read. I don't think you'll regret doing it.

Pure excellence from beginning to almost end! Great plot, great writing and I could not put it down. I feel it is hit or miss with Alexandria Clark, I usually give her 3 stars for her work - but this is really outstanding.
Didn't care for the flat ending but it is still worthy of five stars!

This was a unique rendering of history and the paranormal. It was also a good reminder that we all view events from our own unique perspective. It was a very good story that had thrills and chills.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly History

We know slavery was evil and is a part of our nation's history of which we are ashamed, but it takes stories like this to make us realize even a small bit of how painful it was.

Always good reads written by Alexandria Clarke.

The story blends a story of people's lives-present and past. Ghosts of the Bluefield plantation woven in to be a very story. A great read.

I loved this story!

This story was bit different than what I've read. It kept me guessing what would happen next. I really enjoyed it. Its rare to read a book that is so satisfying.
The only problem I found were the incomplete sentences or typos.

The Haunting of Bluefield Manor

I enjoyed this book. It had suspenseful moments throughout. Ghosts combined with a bit of social injustice to a well deserved ending for the characters. Great read for those who like haunted places.

One of the best authors in this series.

I've read several books by this author. If I'm remembering correctly, they have all been different and that's a good thing! Couple of typos but not enough to make me stop reading. Enjoy!

mixed feelings

I chose a 4 rating because while it was a good book, it was lacking in excitement. The ghostly characters left a lot to be desired. Lou’s reaction to ghosts grabbing at her was just a little too calm. The book wasn’t terrible, it was just bland. No thrills.

Riveting ghost story

I feel that writers owe their very best work to their fans. Careless errors are unforgivable. Unfortunately The Haunting of Bluefield Plantation was rife with errors. Clarke is a strong storyteller but poor editing diminishes her work.
