Santos Cruz. His name means saint, but he's the devil incarnate.

He’s the head of the Diablos del Sur, cartel members made of ruthless, deadly men that control the Mexican border. He's also my enemy.

I never thought I'd see him again, until I wake to find him in my bed, a wedding ring on my finger and no memory of the past five years.

Now, I'm bound to a man I hate, even as his kiss scorches my lips, and his touch ignites my desire.

A man who once swore revenge on my family. And on me.

2.50 This was not a Mafia love story which was how it was billed on Amazon (Cartels and Mafia's) are two different criminal organizations, run by two different ethnic groups; this was strictly a REVENGE trope fueled by a Mexican Cartel leader. This book had potential but I was not pleased with how the storyline and plot were presented to the reader. The storyline did too much back and forth, between past and present which really interrupted the flow and continuity of the story. I would have preferred if the author had spent 1/3 to 1/2 of this first book in the past and then started with the present. Some authors can pull off stories that go between the past and present throughout the novel with success; this one was a convoluted mess of alternate realities colliding with each other.

Sonia's character was hard to follow because of her memory loss which made the book even more convoluted because she sensed certain memories and was haunted by dreams but couldn't put it all together. Then you had Santos who had elaborately created a completely different ruse that was a complete lie and you have a very confused MFC. Her character was at a complete loss of what Santo was doing to her until the very end of the book. He was trying to get to her father through her and then wanted what she would eventually inherit once daddy was out of the picture. He slipped a couple of times in the book alluding to his real plan, but Sonia's memory didn't make sense of it until she found out that everything was a lie.

Santo was the usual revenge oriented MMC and wasn't my favorite in this book. Sonia was the character that made me keep reading this novel because if you have read enough books about the Cartels, Mafia, Bratva, Irish Mob you get a feel when a character is not what what he seems. I felt that he was really playing a sick game with Sonia considering how messed up her memory was but didn't care. His character wanted to own her but I never felt that he really loved her. Of course he doubles down by having unprotected sex (Sonia will most likely be pregnant in book 2) photoshopped a wedding picture and weaved a false narrative so that he could legally marry her. There never was a first time wedding, just another lie.

Amnesia is triggered by an accident, a traumatic brain injury or a mental breakdown or a brain disorder, but just doesn't happen one day. There were lots of red flags throughout Santo's false narrative such as few pictures of their 5 years together, a wedding picture that had been photoshopped, no children, and a very confusing explanation of what happened to her. When she finds out it has only been three months, things come to a head.

I am not sure if I will read the second part of the duet...I am still on fence knowing that the author is going to try and turn this into a love story. Some stories just don't meet the basic criteria for a love story or an HEA; they are what they are.

This is an awesome book with strong characters in Sonia and Santos. The author does a fantastic job developing the storyline and paints her scenes vividly. She pulled me in at page one and kept me glued to the pages right to the end. They have a smokin hot chemistry along with their passionate fights. It's well written and moves fluidly. I was stunned with the ending!! Can't wait for the next book!!
Highly recommend reading.

Oh What a Man!!!!

Devil's Vow by Aidee Jaimes.  ARC

What a wild ride this book is!!!  I'm so surprised by the ending that I'm somewhat speechless!  That Aidee Jaimes, she's so tricky with her twists and turns in a story!  I love it!!!!

This book is a rollercoaster of feelings.  Santos and Sonia are such a powerful, dynamic couple!!!  But truly, one minute I'm mad at Santos, the next I'm crazy about him...and honestly the same with Sonia...one minute I'm angry at her, the next I'm all about supporting her!  And I loved every minute of it!!!  i still have questions, but I'm confident those will be answered in the 2nd book of this duet.

Regardless, this is a hot, steamy must read if you love your Alphas as fiery, bad boys with questionable very gray morals...

Thank you Aidee Jaimes!!!!❤❤❤❤

Sonia and Santos fall for each other in a horse stable. Life takes a turn and they are pulled apart. Until one day Sonia wakes up in bed with Santos and cannot remember being married to him.
This was so well written that I was sucked in from the beginning wanting to know if it was a dream or what. The twists at the end was not what I was expecting. Can't wait for book 2.

I hate books that don’t state it’s part of a duet or trilogy.
FYI this is book 1 of 2 and this leaves with a so called cliffy. The flash backs are also annoying

This one took me by surprise. I didn't know what to expect but it grabbed my attention from the first page and I couldn't put it down.

One minute we're running for our lives and the next minute we're waking up in bed to discover five years have passed and we're now married to the head of the cartel. Just what has happened and how did we get here? That's what kept me hooked.

The author makes good use of flashbacks and reveals the clues slowly and while it doesn't take a genius to figure out what's going on, there was enough intrigue to keep me guessing.

While this is a duet, which I don't normally love, both parts are very short so you can read it as one book and the cliff-hanger definitely has you reaching for book 2.

So, the story's written going back and forth between the past and present constantly, this was my first big issue, it happens too much and each scene is way too short. So short I was irritated by only the third tine it happened and stopped reading, even though the first two scenes were literally less than five minutes worth of reading each, but I did eventually continue to finish the book.

But when I read a scene I want it to be more than just, she wakes up beside a guy, who she doesn't remember why she's with him, jumps out of the bed, wraps herself in a sheet, runs into the bathroom, sees herself I'm the mirror, he busts the door in and she demands to know what's going on, that's literally the entire scene then it jumps to the past.

So the book starts with a scene you think you're reading it in the present but turns out it happened five years ago, of her running through a corn field to escape her father's enemies, which is less than minutes of reading. Then there's the waking up bathroom scene above, which is actually in the present, and only minutes of reading again, then it goes into a new scene set ten years before. Not enough to get into enjoy reading.

At times the scenes were old fashioned, reading like a historical romance. There was a juvenile sense to it at times, like how the big bad Devil over-reacted to her cutting her finger, and how she describes him as wearily eyeing her just because she leaves the knife from eating her dinner on the nightstand, as if it's humorous. It wasn't, it was childish humor.

But the biggest problem was the zero story,. 80% of this book is just the heroine thinking about showering, eating, getting dressed, anmoying the hero. But no actual scenes to read. For weeks and weeks of the book's timeliness it's her she in the room thinking. She doesn't do anything or go anywhere.

When she finally does go somewhere, at 50%, it's down to the kitchen then for a horse ride with the hero. That's followed by one shootout scene, them getting together, then the big deception scene that is the cliffhanger ending. That's not many scenes at all, and not enough to make up a book.

I'm not opposed to reading even trilogies, I loved Addison Cain's Alpha Claim series, three books following the same couple, but that's because every one of the three books in that series were jam packed with exciting scenes, character interactions and world building. Not this book. Here it's mostly boing filler to stretch out what should have been the build up, first third of a book at most, not an entire book.

I don't know if it's money grabbing by authors but it's irritating and tedious having to read so much padding. Maybe if combined with the story in the nect book with all the filler cut, it could have made one alright book, but I haven't read the next one to say if there's any actual story in it either. The fact the next book has half the reviews this does seems to suggest other readers didn't care enough to read the second book to finish the story.

What more can we ask for powerful men, grumpy, oh and sexy and the super strong women learning they are the ones with the real power so buckle up this is a wild ride, dangerous men, alpha personified, possessive, oh, so gorgeous, brooding all the makings of a deliciously story 😊.
There will be suspense, betrayal, lies, more lies, secrets reveled, violence, arrogance, turmoil (emotional), annoyance, jealousy, rivalry/rivals, prejudices, deceit, threats, manipulating, distrust, confrontations, retribution, complications, deception, honor (family), trauma, hate, revenge/vengeance, hope, forgiveness, passion, and maybe just love. (All the great stuff a mafia story is made of…just saying)
By the time you’ve figured out who is who and what is what, you’re already hooked, and you may as well give up the fight and prepare yourself for an all-nighter!
Can’t say I didn’t warn you.
Okay let me get this out of the way first THIS WILL LEAVE YOU HAGNING ……WHY DO WE HAVE CLIFFHANGERS…MAKE NO SENSE TO ME AT ALL I NEED TO KNOW!!!!!! Okay now I feel better a little …this is the first book in the Diablos Cartel series get comfortable with your favorite wine, water, tea, coffee, or whatever because you will need it once you start you won’t stop until the last page has been turned. Sonia waking up with no memory after five years, married to a man she remembers being an enemy and all her family dead with one goal find out what happened, how long has her memory been gone, what happened to her and if her now husband killed her family. Santos sexy as all get out head of the Diabolos Cartel, he was promised Sonia nearly losing her but watching her fight him tooth and nail to try and remember who she was, what happened to her family, why she is married to a man who she knows or knew was an enemy it hurts him as well, but he can’t tell her the truth. The attraction is insanely intense, and the chemistry can’t be ignored so fighting outside the bedroom is a common thing although, I love her feistiness, she has no fear of him and the fighting to stay away from him in bed we get to see it all loving every minute his one goal keeps her safe doing what needs to be done. Santos has shown he can /will be if needed ruthless, taking out who/what needs to be taken out but protecting his family has always been his top priority so seeing the softer sides to him is nice and seeing he married a women who doesn’t back down even in the face of him but things aren’t always as they seem, will she finally get her memory back concerning the loss of her family, will she forgive him after learning the truth, and where are they headed (that leaving us hanging of the ledge)?.

4.25 stars, rounded to 4.0

This is a good, fast paced, suspenseful cartel romance. There is a LOT going on behind the story that isn't laid out - it comes out in little trickles. That said, I was a bit lost a few times, particularly bouncing between the present and the past, but not enough to lose interest. The end does help resolve some of the confusion, but as noted, it is part of a duet and cannot be read as a standalone. (I'm now anxiously & painfully waiting for Book 2!!)

I really enjoyed the book. Santos, the devil, appears to have a split personality: Nasty cartel monster vs. loving caring man to Sonia. Now Sonia...she is a spoiled, fighting wildcat princesa. That said, there is a strong pull between them and real smoking hot chemistry - the melt your kindle kind.

Devil's Vow lays the groundwork for the story to continue in Book 2.

If you like your romance a bit edgy, a bit dark, some Mafia/cartel and suspense & danger thrown in, I would definitely recommend. And bonus, there are horses!!.

Duck it all, Aidee!
First few chapt, i was stunned sitting straight for the new twist of this cartel second chance romance.
The back and forward of past and present story gave me two different feels. In the past, i was in lust. In the present, i laugh with Santos and Sonia sizzling fights.
And when finally the time come together, ifall in love with these two.
Their chemistry is strong. Its the kind that you want in real life. Its the kind that make book husband is author's way to redeemed real man😂💃

The steamy scenes are...dont tell the author i'm giving you spoiler.. Lol.. But chapter five. Their first kiss. And he didnt kiss her on her lips. Atleast not on her upper lips.
💃😂🔥🔥🔥
That "simple" scene is the perfect star of Sonia and Santos smegsi chemistry.

And finally, that ending! When the author already say sorry in advance for what she done for the ending... You wanna buckle up. For Aidee done the worst cliffy with this duet!!!.

What an absolute brilliant book the author Aidèe Jaime's had wrote. The chemistry of the characters were deliciously hot. This story was about Sonia and Santos, they met in her father's barn Santos was living in while working for her father. Sonia couldn't wait for her birthday her father said if she was good she would get the horse that is in the barn called Luna, she had been sneaking out at night to ride her, so the night of her party she decided she was taking Luna out. Santos warned her not to go the horse was spooked she ignored him, she fell off the horse and sprained her leg he took ker and the horse home. Overtime they kept seeing each other until she was caught by her dad, she was running away to meet Santos at the train station he never turned up. Will he tell her why he never turned up or will she go on to marry the man her father wants her to marry.

Sonia suddenly wakes up not recalling what happens after her home is attacked. Santos is her former flame, and we are led to believe he is protecting her from her father’s enemies. The book takes us through some of Sonia’s memories in tandem with things happening in the present as we slowly unearth what Sonia and Santos’s relationship was like before she lost her memories. We also are trying trying to figure out why her home was attacked.

I liked how Sonia was a tough cookie, trying to figure out her memories and not blindly going along with everything. Santos is also ruthless and we see some hidden darkness in him but he also shows that he cares for Sonia. The plot twist at the end though definitely takes the cake, and with that cliffhanger, it will definitely be hard to wait til the next book comes out!.

After reading the obsessed duet, I found Santos an intriguing character, so I had to read he duet too. This book goes back and forth, from past to present to help you understand the relationship and dynamic which is Sonia and Santos's current situation. You really feel draw to her plight. Waking to find the last five years were gone and trying to piece together her past and trying to make sense of her current situation, was troubling for Sonia. I felt Santos's hurt and longing for a woman he was lost from and in many ways denied a life with. But as with most stories like these dark romances, there's always a plot twist, but with this one, I felt more confused. As who is in the wrong? Was it her father or Santos? Is there another threat out there, or is santos the really baddy in this story? All I hope will be reveled in book 2 and I can't wait.

So here I am turning page after page loving the story loving the characters from the get go. Sonia and Santos both have explosive chemistry. It is so obvious how much they love eachother despite the hurt and betrayal of the past. Sonia with her feistiness and spitfire personality. Santos with his cocky attitude and possessiveness. However something about Santos didn't quite sit right with me but never in a million years would I have predicted the plot twist in the end. Even though I like Santos he did disappoint me. I do hope he redeems himself in the next installment.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. The first book of the Diablos Cartel series is a roller coaster ride. The sparks fly all the time between Sonia and Santos. This is a love story that encompasses enemies, second chances, possessiveness, conflict and the dangers of the world they live in. I enjoyed finding out how these two were going to interact next. Sonia is a strong woman who is determined to have her life back. Santos is a powerful man who knows what he wants. I am looking forward to the rest of their story.

I loved this book. This book was filled with twists and surprises. I could not believe the ending. It shocked me and then left me on a cliff hanger dying to see what happens in the next book. There is no predicting what will happen next. Sonia and Santos have some steamy scenes and romance going on that will melt your kindle. The details, plot and characters were well thought out and detailed that it made it easy to picture. The emotions and surprises in here will have you sucked in and turning pages with all action and shootouts with mafia men and surprises that you never see coming. Phenomenal read.

A new author for me and a fabulous ride. I wish it was longer but the -ages were decent. This is the 1st book in the Diablos Cartel series. The story is basically a rollercoaster ride. It’s very fast paced and there’s a lot going on. At times it was hard to keep things straight but I love fast paced books. The story revolves around Sonia and Santos and you can’t help but root for them almost immediately. Can’t wait for the next book min this duet.

Interesting

This book is the beginning of quite a dark romance Santos Cruz head of a strong and powerful Mexican Cartel didn't start out as a powerful leader when he first fell in love with Sonia she was his bosses daughter who did awful things to ensure Santos didn't get his daughter her father was a bad man and she never realised it. However she does end up with him through deception ,lies and trickery but she cannot be fooled for ever and we leave the story as some truth comes out looking forward to the finale.

This cover portrays Santos cocky attitude & his smoldering good looks. Sonia is a bit of a spitfire with feisty comebacks to Santos. If they aren't fighting outside the sheets they are fighting there attraction between the sheets. The characters do have a past with one another so be prepared to go from present to some past flashbacks . As always the author will leave you wanting to know who to believe & what should you believe.

Sonia and Santos chemistry is explosive! She wakes up to find herself married to her enemy. She and Santos are dancing around their true feelings for each other. With their banter and antics, you are drawn into their personalities along with all the twists and turns that keeps you glued to this story and cheering them on. I hated that it ends with a cliffhanger.

A Match Made For Heaven…forged in Hell

Santos and Sonia!!! WOW! Aidèe took us on a journey that did not follow the straight and narrow! Who is the antagonist? Who is the hero? One thing is for sure Santos and Sonia have a history and they have CHEMISTRY! 🔥🔥🔥 A vowed made by a Diablos is a vow kept…which one will happen first? As typical, Aidèe gives us an ending that leaves you on the edge of your seat! Can’t wait for the conclusion! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
