Bronx

Being a SEAL requires everything.

Grit. Focus. Strength.

If anyone screws up, lives are lost.

I know that better than anyone.

But when a required trip home puts me on the doorstep of my teenage crush, everything comes crashing back.

Her curves haunt me in my dreams.

And with her sleeping just down the hallway from me?

All I can think about is having her legs wrapped around my waist.

Lily-Ann

Here I am, minding my own business, when a ghost from my past shows up.

Etched with muscle. Bubbling with mystery.

Carrying a pair of eyes that have stalked me my entire life.

As a teenager, he was off limits.

My brother’s best friend, of course.

But now that he’s back, I want him more than ever.

And not even family can stop me now.

Loved this story and the romance. There's no horrible items in the book. Is is an inside into defence force people and how war effects their lives with a lovely romantic and farm setting for the story.

Thank you.

Great story.

Lily-Ann & Bronx's forbidden love story had me hooked from the start it was sweet, hot but also very emotional & has great characters. Bronx reliving his horrific time in the military had me tearing up quite a few times aswell as when Lily-Ann was heartbroken over the way he was treating her hiding any relationship they had from her brother Sebastian since he was his best friend who he didn't want to hurt but it he ended up hurting her. Her whole world turned upside down when Sebastian found out but then when her best friend Sycamore had an accident that almost killed her she felt helpless. I desperately wanted Bronx to tell her how he had felt about her how he had loved her since they were young & why he behaved the way he did when he left to sign up to the military as they were perfect for each other so wanting them to have their happy ever after & for Sebastian to accept them.
I definately recommended reading their story just make sure you have a tissue on hand.

Bronx and Jon have been best friends forever and Bronx had been a part of their family. Lily and Jon run the ranch now that their parents are gone. Bronx has been a Navy SEAL for fifteen years and is sent home after a traumatic experience. Staying with Jon and his sister bring back deep feeling they each had but never developed due to the Bro-Code. Now older, it is time to come clean and see where it goes.
The characters have great backstories and intense feelings. The storyline has drama, fun, surprises, lots of questions, some steam and more. Quite a birthday day she had and made his day as well. Terrific ending. I will be rereading this story again soon.

This was an enjoyable read. Bronx comes back home while recovering. Him and Lily-Ann have feelings for each other. However, things are really complicated with Bronx. Luckily in the end it all works out and they get their happy ending.

This is an author I've read before but I can truthfully state that I believe this book and the other two books in the Small Town Heat Series are her best to date! After Bronx is returned to the States after having been a rescued POW, he is having a hard time re-acclimating to society. The prescription his doctor thinks will help him the most is to go to the only home he has ever felt comfortable which is the farm where his best friend Jon lives with his sister Lilly-Ann on the farm she owns. During his entire career in the Navy, he has been getting letters from Lily-Ann that he never acknowledged or answered. Will he be able to explain to her that her letters were what kept him sane during those years, especially while being held captive. Lily-Ann has been in love with Bronx since she was a child but always thought it was something that would never grown into something other than a "secret crush". She finds out that Bronx has had the same feelings for her but kept them to himself because Jon has always made it clear that his "little sister" is off limits. Does the love they are finally able to admit for each other have a chance to grow with all the issues that seem to keep invading their time together. This was such a well written and poignant story and a step above Ms. Walker's previous writing. I truly enjoyed this book!

This is not the first series I have read from this author, but I have to admit that I think this series will be my favorite so far! This is the story of Bronx and Lily-Ann. Lily-Ann is the younger sister of Jon who happens to be Bronx’s best friend. Lily-Ann has always had a thing for Bronx since she was a teenager. She is an independent, feisty & sassy woman who will automatically win your heart as soon as you start reading. Bronx is a Navy Seal who was a POW and was ordered to go home to figure out what he wanted. He has been through a tragic ordeal.

Going through this journey with Bronx and Lily-Ann will open your eyes to the troubles, obstacles and the strength needed to love and pick up the pieces. There is some twists, a unexpected accident, obstacles, drama and so many emotions! We are also introduced to Lily-Ann’s brother Jon and her best friend Sycamore and to some of Bronx’s teammates/brothers – Axle, Barney, & Johnson. I cannot wait to see what happens next in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Hot & Bothered is the first story in Kelli Walker’s new series, Small Town Heat. It revolves around Bronx, a SEAL who has gone through a tragic ordeal. He is ordered home by his therapist to try to heal and to see a girl who unknown to her helped Bronx to survive. The girl, Lily-Ann, is his teenage crush and younger sister of his best friend. Lily-Ann always was and still is off limits. When Bronx shows up at her door where she lives with her brother, can it work out?

While the book mentions some heavy topics the story never gets too gritty but still might be a trigger to some. Bronx and Lily-Ann finally get a chance to show how they feel to each other. Their emotions explode with heat. I will say Lily-Ann has incredible patience waiting for Bronx to be ready to commit.

Lily-Ann's brother and her best friend are along in the story. They supply support as well as conflict throughout it. We also get an introduction to the men Bronx served with. I think I read the book straight through and found it satisfying. It had enough angst but I was rewarded at the end with happily ever after. Hot & Bothered is a great start to the new series and I can't wait to read more.

Bronx and Lily-Ann were dynamite and gasoline mixed together!! I didn't really care for her brother. He was portrayed as a lazy, immature hypocrite full of double-standards that got checked by Lily's bestie, Sycamore. I thought Bronx was rude for not keeping in touch with her. Lots of connections were made before the last word was written and healing explanations provided to bring peace. Warning: Lots and lots of colorful words.

Second chance for a true home. This is about Bronx and Lily. Bronx is a POW survivor and he is told to return home as he refuses to speak about the capture. Bronx returns home to his best friend, Jon, and his best friend sister, Lily, as he has no other home. The problem he faces is that Lily has been writing to him but he not once wrote back. Lily has always been in love with him and he has also had a strong crush on her but as he respected Jon, he never make a move.

The story takes a turn when there is an accident on the farm with her best friend Sync and the truth between Bronx and Lily come out. Can Jon forgive his best friend, will Bronx open up to his loved ones and the military and forgive himself for the thing that he blamed himself for? This was an awesome story.

Hot & Bothered is a solid start to Kelli Walker’s new series, Small Town Heat. Each of the H in this series are ex military meeting the woman who knocks his socks off. This story is about Bronx, a Navy SEAL who retired after a tragic event. Lily is Bronx's best friend's sister, has loved Bronx forever and he cares for her as well, but is way off limits. While he waist the service, she wrote him regularly, but he never responded, adding additional heartbreak. Reading how these two come together, reconcile their feelings, and move forward together was a well paced, steamy, page-turner. Best of all, this book and the entire series are all available to read for FREE on KU. Enjoy this series for yourself.

Fulfilling Their Long Held Dream -
Lily-Ann had been in love with her brother’s best friend, Bronx, since she was in her teens and she had done everything other than outright tell him, to get his attention, but it had all been to no avail for years. Bronx had been in love with Lily-Ann too, but didn’t pursue it for the sake of bro-code and he didn’t want to lose the family unit he had come to depend on. Watching these two dance around each other, made the story quite interesting and kept me on the edge of my seat thinking, ‘will they or won’t they’. The drama, intimate moments and heartbreaking descriptions of Bronx’s encounter in captivity, will keep you engrossed all throughout.

The main thing going through my head as I turned the pages this book was, O.M.G, how can two people be so stubborn and blind to see that they needed each other to thrive. If you want to read a book that will grab you attention from the beginning and keep it until the end, then I suggest you invest in this book, as you will not be disappointed.

This book was amazing and I enjoyed the emotional side each of the main characters went through. Bronx is a navy seal and has endured torture as a POW and hate, anger, grief, loss, compassion, longing, peace and love especially love from the only woman he has ever wanted but was never allowed to have because his best friend Jon wouldn’t allow his sister Lily-Ann and himself to be together. Lily-Ann has always had a crush on Bronx but never acted on it because he was off limits to her but while he was away in the war she wrote to him ever week but he never answered any of her letters and this broke her heart a little each week. Now Bronx is back home on the advice of his therapist to see where he stands with Lily-Ann and no sooner after when her brother leaves they are in others arms. They are a few hurdles that they must face as one to have a future together, doe’s it all work out for them read this to get the answers.

Bronx and Lily-Ann . . .

This is a story about two people who have always had feelings for each other but kept them hidden. Bronx is a Navy SEAL who has been through a terrible experience. Only Lily-Ann’s letters every week faithfully helped him survive what he went through. His best friend Jon would not permit his sister and Bronx to become a couple. So Bronx hid his feelings and did not respond to the letters, breaking her heart that he didn’t want her. But now, with his therapist’s advice, Bronx is back home. Will they see the love they have for each other? Will they become a couple at last?

Just my own personal peeve about this trope about protective-older-brother is that once the “young sister” reaches adulthood, big brother should have no more say in whether she dates his best friend or anyone else he knows. Once an adult, the person is free to make their own decisions about their life partner.

This book brings us Bronx and Lily-Ann. Bronx is a Seal, who is suffering from PTSD after a harrowing experience. His therapist suggests he go home to find himself. He is hesitant to do so, but finally he agrees. He finds himself at the home of his best friend and the girl, or sister of his best friend Lily-Ann who he had feelings for before he left. She is off limits as the bro-code says you do not date your best friend's sister. However, things don't go as planned, and suddenly feelings that they both felt come into play. However, Bronx still has issues and until he comes to terms with them, he can't fully be with Lily-Ann. When she finds out that he is going to re-enlist, she is heartbroken. What happens? Will Bronx finally get the peace he so deserves? Read and find out. I highly recommend this book. I did receive an arc for an honest review.

Bronx is a navy lieutenant who is damaged from a mission in which he lost one of his man. He has survived torture as a POW but has flashback, PTSD and is told to go home to heal. Home for Bronx is the farm where his best friend Jon is and his sister Lily Ann.

Lily Ann is surprised to see Bronx especially since after sending a letter a week to him for twelve years, not once has he written back. He is however her brother's best friend and she has loved him forever.

This is a story of secrets, betrayal and healing. But most of all that bonds of blood and friendship can be tested and still survive.

Bronx 's suffering is a difficult read at times but is well written and like all our brave boys who serve their country needs to be heard and understood. Well done Kelli. This book had me from the get go - a pleasant way to spend a wet afternoon, throughly recommended

Second chance are sometimes everything Lily-Ann has loved her brother’s best friend for years now or really as far back as she can remember her heart belonged to one man but he left her for the military without so much of a goodbye but that didn’t stop her from communicating via snail mail . Bronx sexy as all get out Navy Seal, knows hard work, not to take anything for granted and has always secretly loved his best friend’s sister but for years now have just kept in contact but never acted on what he feels because being a Seal was dangerous enough without stinging her along until his tour was finished. Fast forward and he just walked back into her life and all the feelings they felt came rushing back full force. Dealing with the ghost of their past isn’t easy but they get through but is it enough for them to give each other and their love a real chance?

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. Bronx and Lily-Ann have known each other for a while. They danced around feelings they had because of youth and her brother then his time in the Seals. She never gave up on how she felt about him and was proud of his service. Bronx had strong feelings for her that weathered him thru his worst days. He is back, broken but fully accepted by the woman he loves. They now have another chance to explore the attraction they have. When they follow their hearts they know nothing but love. This was a touching love story with plenty of heat.

Broken & guilt-ridden, hot & bothered, alive & living thanks to love
Hot & Bothered - An Alpha Male Military Romance (Small Town Heat Series) by Kelli Walker is a wonderful military romance that speaks to the heart. Bronx and Lily-Anne are long time friends that have harbored deep seated feelings for one another. Bronx makes an emotional return home that generates a great deal of heat as well as heated feelings.
The plot covers all the feels along with plenty of action related to the setting. These characters experience tragedy and seek healing and comfort from one another. But it’s not an easy road for our hero and his lady love.
Overall, Lily-Anne sees her dream realized with Bronx with massive amounts of love, support, happiness and promises of a joy-filled future HEA.

Bronx is damaged from being held captive for 2 months and his therapist tells him to go home. Home is where Lily and Jon live. Lily has loved Bronx forever. She has been writing him while he was away in the service but he never writes or calls back. She is slightly hurt when her brother confesses that he calls him fairly frequently. Bronx shows up on their doorstep. As soon as Jon leaves them alone they pounce each other. This is a tale of desire and love that Bronx has hidden away. Lily has always known what she wanted. Her brother makes a relationship between them difficult. When a terrible accident happens they have to bond together to get through it and Bronx has to decide which family he wants, military or Lily. Great read.

This book encompasses a couple of tropes brother's best friend and second chance romance. Growing up Bronx was Lily-Ann's brother's best friend so although they both had feelings for each other they weren't allowed to act on them. Now they're adults and she missed him fiercely while he was deployed and she doesn't understand why he didn't answer any of her letters. Bronx has been changed by the war and being a POW his therapist tells him he needs to go home and face Lily-Ann who wrote to him every week and he never acknowledged her or her letters. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this book to see what happens.

This is the first book in the Small Town Heat series. I loved Lily-Ann and Bronx story even if I wanted to smack her brother upside the head on numerous occasions in the book. Their story is steamy and entertaining. Can't wait to start book two. Bronx and Lily-Ann both have feelings for each other but his friendship with her brother has kept them apart. Lily-Ann wrote to Bronx a lot while he's been in the Navy but he's never written her back but when he comes home for a visit, things start to change between them. Will they be able to make a relationship work? Will her brother cause problems for them?

hidden love
Bronx, Navy Seal, captured, tortured, scarred physically and mentally from being a POW. He returns home whilst trying to recover...home being his friends, the farm they have and the small time they grew up in. Lilly Ann, the girl whose letters he never replied to and who has loved him for years, her brother is his best friend, plus Sycamore's dreadful accident Bronx has to make certain decisions and face his feelings about a lot of things..his future, his life and Lily Ann.
Drama with Lily Ann, her feelings for Bronx, Jon's reaction to Bronx and Sycamore injuries.

This was such an easy read.
If you are looking for something light and cute, to get you out of a reading slump, you will like this.

The story is about Lily-Ann, a farm girl that has been in love with her brother's best friend since forever, but he left and never said goodbye. She sends him letters while he is in the army in an attempt to get close to him. She is a pretty strong woman, and the things that happen to her are very relatable making her a very real character. I like her.

Bronx on the other hand has been in a not very good state of mind after coming home from his last tour, where he left pieces of himself. He is the typical alpha male we know and love. He is romantic and likable from the start.

I like their story overall, and we get hints of what is to come in the next book of the series.

Once I started reading this book I kept turning the pages until I was done, and then I wanted there to be more for me to read. My heart broke at times and I cried a time or two reading this, but I also laughed and I also smiled. I wanted to knock some sense into some characters and hug them too. Lilly-Ann and Bronx's journey was not an easy one and I didn't always agree with decisions made and actions taken, but it was worth it in the end to see them come out the other side. This story held my attention from start to finish and I am looking forward to reading the rest from this series.

This was a new author to me and I am glad I took the chance. I appreciated the way this story treated Bronx and his struggles.
The writing wasn't as smooth as I would have preferred, but it seemed to improve as the chapters passed.

Lily is a strong woman, but there were several times I did not like her reactions to others and situations she found herself in.
Because of that I feel I connected more with Bronx, than Lily. I was happy to read their HEA.

I do recommend this read.

I really liked Lily-Ann and Bronx together. He is her brother's best friend and she writes him through years being in the service. They long for each other, but life and circumstances never let them be together. But then they meet again...
I really liked that both are strong characters in their own way. Both have theit own demons to overcome, but their souls belong together. It was hard to put the story down. I am already excited for hopefully the other stories to come.

Lily-Ann fell in love with Bronx in middle school. Bronx left and joined the Navy but what Lily-Ann didn't know was that he was in love with her also. While away Bronx ended up a POW with severe PTSD. This story has plenty of anger, hurt, drama, action and steam. There also is a lot of emotional ups and downs. I loved reading the journey Bronx and Lily-Ann took to get to their HEA> I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
