Blood is in the water. Ever since his father’s death, Captain Jackson Adams is more than ready to escape the familial fallout when the CDF calls with his next covert assignment. What he doesn’t expect to encounter is another pencil pusher – this time from Internal Review. With the CDF reeling from traitors exposed in their ranks, and former League worlds jockeying for position in the Terran Coalition, intelligence resources are stretched thin. The last thing Jackson needs is government bureaucrats breathing down his neck. But when word comes that prized Phantom starfighters have fallen into insurgent hands, everyone is suspect. Including Jackson and his team. Illegal arms sales threaten renewed hostilities with the League of Sol, and Jackson’s unit is tasked with uncovering the culprits responsible – wherever they hide. But as evidence implicating the Spencer administration mounts, Jackson must separate the wheat from the chaff in a desperate race to save the Coalition. Before war returns to the Sagittarius Arm.
Another enjoyable, fast-paced read from these authors. With each novel in this series, the depth of the characters has been developed more giving me the feeling I know them personally. I have appreciated the way military action is combined with science fiction and politics without sacrificing a well written plot line.
I am amazed at how so much of the novel reads as politically realistic today (of course without the science fiction elements). I recommend the series to anyone who enjoys a good story, well-developed characters, and galactic intrigue.
Which is better - a cold war or a hot war? Civilians on a League world which is not being allowed to secede really want the hot war to re-commence and certain hawks in the Coalition really want to help despite the treaty. CAU 171 gets sent in to defuse the situation (even though there are personal dramas blowing up and needing the team members' individual attentions), while the hawks play political games. The author gives us another action-packed, adrenaline-inducing espionage thriller worthy of George Smiley, while spicing the storyline with his signature blend of faith and human nature. The characters are so relatable, like the IMF team in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. The cold war is warming up ... and CAU 171 is in the crosshairs!
I received an ARC from the author and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Elliptic Flight is Book 5 in Deception Fleet by Daniel Gibbs. This exciting story finds Captain Jackson Adams and his team tracking a traitor selling illegal arms to the League of Sol. I have found that Daniel Gibbs writes with a vast knowledge of military and warfare and he delivers another fabulous book. The characters are "book friends" and some new "friends" and I never know what is going to happen next! When the evidence points to a traitor high in government, the League of Sol just might win the war. I know that Book 6 will be just as fabulous as Epliptic Flight. I received arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.
As hoped, another great book from the author. This book kept me reading and listening, using text to speech, when needing to get things done. After reading it, I found it interesting enough that I listened to it again while working on the grounds of KBH Archers. Read it, I think you will enjoy it.
Freedom fighters on a border planet belonging to the League suddenly strike, using the latest Terran Coalition technology. Treaty violation or theft of military equipment? Unit 171 must find out, and somehow stop the situation from becoming an all-out war. P.S.: Gina's brother, Kyle, is one of the insurgents.
Daniel and Steve have fun showing a lighter side of their characters while still giving the story the grittyness of a good scfi. Don't miss Jacksons' adventures with his team in Daniel and Steve's scfi universe!
Another enthralling chapter in the saga full of action from beginning to end thwarting yet another 'leaguer' plot to over throw the coalition have enjoyed so far and will look forward to reading the final book with baited breath.
Excellent character development in this series. This story line of covert operations in the future is a constant page turning adventure. I'm dismayed that the next book is the last in this short series. The setting of the story lends to the potential of many episodes not just six.
Jacksons team is back at work in occupied territory someone stile some Jets
Jackson is back with his team and they have a new job. Find out how terrorist got their hands on classified jets. It put the coalition in major danger as it is against the treaty they signed.
I really liked the story but the editing was not like other Daniel Gibbs books. Sometimes it took away from the flow as I had to read that area a few times to get what was supposed to be.
Another Outstanding Book in the Deception Fleet Series. I found it to be an exciting easy to follow read. I have already downloaded Book # 6 Collision Vector.
