Humiliated. Alone. After going through her first transition, Constance finds her mate—who publicly rejects her. The pack wants her to leave, but Gage, the alpha, tells her to stay. His son may have rejected her, but he wants her to stay. At a meeting, Gage declares he will be the unmated male to claim her. She will be his.
All her life, she’s had a crush on the softly spoken alpha, and now he intends to be her mate. Is he doing it out of pity?
He has watched her flourish into a beautiful, curvy wolf, and since his son doesn’t want her, he craves her. He’ll stop at nothing to claim her for his own.
He loves her. He will mate with her.
But he couldn’t have anticipated what would happen when he finally leaves his mark on her.
Sam Crescent is passionate about fiction. She loves a good erotic romance and so it only made sense for her to spread her wings and start writing. She began writing in 2009 and finally got that first acceptance in 2011 by Total-E-Bound. She loved creating new characters and delving into the worlds that she creates. When she’s not panicking about a story or arguing with a character, she can be found in her kitchen creating all kinds of havoc. Like her stories the creations in the kitchen can be just as dubious but sometimes things turn out great.
When Constance is rejected by her mate, Tanner, her life falls apart. Not only is she publicly humiliated, but she loses her job, her POS parents kick her out of the house, and the pack turns against her. Tanner's father, the Alpha, has had his eye on Constance for years and while angry how his son publicly rejected Constance he's relieved because he wants her for himself and will make sure she's treated like the amazing and beautiful woman she is. While Constance has always had a crush on her Alpha, Gage, she can't stand his son's manipulative user ways and the only reason she was rejected first was because he beat her to the punch. So when Gage offers to take her as his mate using an ancient pack law she takes him up on it.
I enjoyed the story. I liked the MC's together, but it was lacking depth in the character's emotions. I wanted to feel more for them, but I just couldn’t.
There were also a couple holes in the story that took away from the conclusion of it. First,
I've read a few books from this series and I'm almost always left feeling unsatisfied. Usually it's because I don't feel the emotions of the characters as much as I hope to. Other times it's because the hero's behavior makes him completely undeserving of the heroine's love and yet she meekly forgives him. I guess you could say the heroine's in this series tend to be doormats. I want a heroine that will stand up for herself and kick a little ass (verbally or physically if need be.) I think it's time I give up on this series and quit hoping for what never comes along.
This was really really sweet! i liked it a lot! I loved how Gage took care of her, i loved how they both crushed on each others but they had to wait cuz she was his son's mate (not all the way, they just discovered it) , i loved that her and her son hated each other ,and how he then wanted her.
What i miss in this probably is, a little more playing with jealousy , there is a little bit but i wanted more cuz i loved possessive Gage a lot :D
Anyway, loved this entry. Perfect for a easy, sweet, fast and loving read.
This is a short read but man is it packed with all the feels. Connie has been rejected by Tanner as his mate. He doesn't seem to like anything about her. It caused her to lose her job, her parents threw her out and she is basically shunned in the pack. Along comes Gage, who happens to be the Alpha of the pack AND Tanner's father. He's been watching her since she turned 18 and after reading all the rules and bylaws, decides to claim her as his! Will the rest of the pack accept this? And what happens when Tanner suddenly regrets rejecting Connie? This was such a good story. I loved it so much!
Constance hadn’t had her first turn until the very late age of her twenty first birthday. While she loved her pack and her small town she had often felt like an outsider and this feeling had only grown significantly since her destined mate had rejected her. The alpha’s son hadn’t cast her aside in private or quietly, but he rejected her in front of the entire pack, cementing Constance’s humiliation. With her suitcase packed and on her way out of town – unable to bear the cold and rejection of the whole pack – Constance is surprised when their Alpha, Gage, insists she stay another three days until the town meeting. When in that meeting he publicly claims Constance as his own mate, her world is turned upside down.
I found this to be an interesting and highly sexy story. While there wasn’t anything too fresh or different to the plot of the story, I found Gage and Constance’s characters interesting and relatable, and Gage’s young and egotistical son, Tanner, a good area to show the conflict in the story. I was exceptionally pleased that Gage didn’t immediately jump into bed with Connie. While their age difference didn’t bother me too much, the fact he was her Alpha and a lot more mature emotionally than her and the fact Connie had a crush on him all meshed together to make me feel Gage was a little too much of an authority figure for them to be intimate immediately after he claimed her. I was really relieved the author allowed them both – and me as the reader – a bit of time to see Connie and Gage get comfortable with each other emotionally and in their day-to-day lives before becoming sexually intimate.
That said, there was plenty of steamy sex throughout much of the story so readers looking for a spicy and extremely erotic story should definitely find this fits the bill in that respect. I thought there was a really good balance in this story between the paranormal world building and with the regular sticky emotional relationships between a new couple and dealing with rejection and petty jealousy. I thought the author did a good job and I found myself eager to read more as Gage and Constance build their trust and relationship together. With a good amount of plot – especially surrounding the intricacies of a shifter who turns a bit later in life and the fine lines between what true mates were and claiming a mate who becomes yours I thought this book was a lovely blend of solid plot and very sexy shenanigans.
Hot and spicy, this is an interesting and good read.
I liked the couple but the plot line grossed me out. An alpha/father chasing after his son’s mate. Eww. The whole book was about his regret that he wanted her but he was still going to steal her from his son anyway. If it had been any other familial relationship I might have found it more appealing but he was an alpha who didn’t like his son or his baby mama. I always HATE when someone has a child with someone they didn’t like to begin with. But when those same sentiments are then past on to the offspring, as if the parentage is somehow responsible for the personality the child ended up having, is ridiculous. You’re seeing what you are projecting onto that child.
Anyway, this book had me in my head more than in the story because of the ick factor of the plot. And while this author gave a HEA for all parties involved I felt it was forced as all the other shifter books she has written has beaten to death the fated mates are destiny troupe. Now all of a sudden, the mate bond isn’t important! It’s a choice?!? Yeah, I’m done.
Constance was rejected by her fated mate, Tanner. He was not misunderstood, but a cruel, mean bully that needed to grow up.
Based on his rejection, she becomes an outcast, fired from her job and banished by her parents. Tanner’s father, Gage, the Alpha, claims her as his mate.
She loved her pack, but they refused to accept her, taking their cue from Tanner, the turd.
Gage is forty to Connie’s inexperienced twenty-one. She is the oldest person to go through her transition as most made the change between the ages of sixteen and eighteen and hers was twenty-one.
Someone else become jealous and in a fit of rage almost kills her. Her shifting, saved her life.
HEA. It’s Christmastime, Tanner finds a mate, Gage and herself have a little girl and another on the way.
Ok read, a little shocked to see this many books under this author who still has editing issues and misspelled words. A lot of the read is over the top repetitive. As is the over the top cruelty by everyone in the book. Loved the idea of this book, but the outcome or all around story telling in this book wasn't all that great.
I loved this book. The storyline was sweet and entertaining but also emotional. Loved the characters, well most of them. They say everything happens for a reason, and in this case it was true. They had good chemistry and made a great mated couple. Overall it was a lighthearted paranormal read.
From start to finish this was an amazing story about overcoming the worst circumstances to finding your true other half. Constance was always the outcast, which started with her parents and continued until the pack's Alpha, Gage stepped in. When Constance transitioned later than most she found out her mate was Gage's son, Tanner. Tanner was always mean to Constance but he really went over the top when he publicly rejected her causing a change of events that left Constance heart broken. She plans to leave the pack but was stopped by the Alpha.
Gage was a very fair and friendly Alpha that genuinely cared about his pack. So when he learns of all that Constance, his Connie, has endured.....well, he made a plan. One that ended with him claiming Connie as his mate. What transpires after is a great story about pain, humiliation, betrayal, forgiveness, but most importantly, love. I love how loyal, loving and devoted Gage was right from the start. Great job, Sam! 💜
Constance was rejected by her mate and pack. Gage, the Alpha was not going to let that happen. His son doesn’t realize what a special woman Connie is. His rejection humiliated her but Gage has waited Connie and see her as his. I love that Gage doesn’t let the pack push her out. He fights from day one and brings warmth back into her soul. The instinct from the wolf was wrong on this one and it knew it. Connie wanted nothing to do with his son. He was a womanizing jerk. Gage had the compassion and heart to bring out her passion. He never pushed. These two both crushed on each other and were meant to be together. Of course there is always one or two that will see this as a bad thing. But the Alpha knows.
Loved this .. Sweet sexy hot .. Being rejected was the best thing that ever happen to her , and its a good thing to since she had always been in love with Gage.. I get he is the alpha but he was stupid a couple a times , taking cookies from Lana ..leaving her alone after mating her , yes his son needed him , but he could have Seen her at some point so she knew what was going g on
Worth your time. I was really pumped to see a shifter book we’re she goes for dad . Yayyyy wish there was more like that . Dad and uncle books always make forbidden fruit 🍉 good reads
I simply loved the entire story. Characters are so likeable minus tanner and Tiffany. This is a must read!! Gage is dreamy meet your next book boyfriend.
Did I read the same book as everyone else in the reviews? I wouldn't be surprised if this book was self-published because there were typos, strange sentences...I mean it was all over the place. I liked parts of it, but certain things made it hard to keep reading. For one thing, the fatphobia was too much for me. It's one thing to establish the MC is bigger than the rest of the women in her pack, it's another to keep bringing it up over and over along with words like "disgusting" and "repulsive". I get what the author was trying to do, but no thanks. I'm also fascinated by the fact that the alpha knew Constance had a crush on her since she was a kid, but miraculously only started being attracted to her when she turned 18. Sounds...convenient.
Sam has done it again. From the first page, she had me hooked. Rejected Mate has it all. Heartbreak, scheming backstabbers but most importantly…..love. I don’t know how Sam does it but, I for one, don’t want her to stop anytime soon.
Plot: Constance has finally shifted, a little later than normal. Already ostracized because of her weight, shifting finally puts her on more even footing with the rest of the pack. When she shifts, however, she discovers that her fated mate is Tanner, the son of the alpha. She despises Tanner, a cruel petty tyrant in the making, but before she has a chance to say anything, he rejects her in front of everyone. Since he rejects her, the rest of the pack does too. She loses her job, her parents kick her out, and she has to leave town. Then the alpha, Gage, steps in. He's been watching Constance, or Connie as he calls her. He knows she's too young for him and he knows that she's his son's mate, but he wants her, and he never takes anything for himself. This time he will.
Commentary: Gage was this straight-laced but effective alpha, steady and dedicated. But then he fell for Constance and he became this wild man in private. She's what matters to him. He just has to balance that with his responsibility to his son (which isn't easy, because Tanner is not likable). As in most of this author's books, the story is summed up with everyone getting a happy ending, including the villain: .
This wasn't too bad for Sam Crescent. Personally, I've had a hard time with SC's books in the past; the premises are intriguing but the execution of them are difficult to get through and I often put them on the DNF shelf. I keep trying and I've finally found a decent one.
I like both Constance and Gage a lot; they were sweet together but stood strong as individual chatacters. I appreciated that they were written to have mature, reasonable reactions to situations. Tanner was yucky. Obviously I'm glad that he didn't get Constance, but it kind of bothered me that he ended up happy at the end. I know that's kind of messed up, but I didn't feel like he deserved a true mate after how cruel he was to Constance and for what he put Tiffany through. His character wasn't developed enough for me to feel like he deserved a happy ending. Call me petty, but that really bothered me. Anybody else feel that way?
I found it interesting that there was a loophole in changing who your true mate was if the original mate rejected you.

Great concept, terribly executed. I got pretty tired of how every conversation was about how the FMC is fat, although only people bully her by calling her fat, her condescendingly flattering new mate calls her curvy and she's grateful and bashful that he deigns to be attracted to her. It just felt gross to me, fat people can not only be hot but also not just immediately grateful someone has the good sense to notice, and "finds her attractive" is not enough to decide someone is a good dude she should fall for. It's barely anything, just kind of a given.
The MMC couldn't seem to get consistent about what he was up to either, switching between "I'll stop at nothing to have her" and "well I guess if someone else wants her I can't stop them ho hum" from sentence to sentence, and his son was a big ol eye roll cartoon villain running around saying shit like "you women are all the same".
I dnf'ed at 25% so maybe that gets better but I don't really see how that many two dimensional characters with paper thin motivations could go anywhere.
First things first; I like the cover of this book! Rejected mate is the thirteenth book in the ‘’alpha shifter collection’’ series. This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and was satisfied throughout. I found the writing style easy to follow, the characters likeable and the storyline enjoyable. When Constance is rejected by her mate, she is humiliated yet not upset. Gage has wanted Constance for a while. When his son rejects her will he get a chance? The chemistry between Constance and Gage is clear to see and I liked them together. I liked the ending and the epilogue for this story. The storyline for this book is easy to follow and it is an enjoyable read. I look forward to more books from this series.
This book had so much potential but let me down majorly. First of all I can’t stand a book written in anything other than 1st person. (But that’s a me thing). Secondly. I am normally on the ball about this but was just trying to find a good mate book but I never read a book with less than 200 pages let alone buy one for that much with such. Lesson learned. Lastly. There was NO details! We go from her being rejected, the dad wants her, her losing her V card, her getting hurt then BAM time jump she’s pregnant. If the author actually wrote out the details this book could of been longer and could of been so much better. I was HIGHLY disappointed.
