Brought back memories

I received a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Let me start out by saying, I channeled my inner middle schooler reading this book. Is it for adults, I would say no unless you are a fan of Juvenile Fiction as well. Dave made it perfectly clear this is a young horror short story.

This book reminded me of Goosebumps, which is a wonder compliment coming from me! I loved the plot, the ‘scares’, and the way I was able to stay entertained (even though I’m not the targeted audience).

We follow Ash and Kota as they take a trip to their uncles. He is trying to open back up an amusement park, but with doing so he has brought a terrible darkness to a small town.

Obligatory acknowledgement that I'm at least double the target audience's age. Anyway! This was fun! The chapters are short and breezy and it was so easy to say, "Well, just one more couldn't hurt!" There are a few flaws - very convenient how Deb tracks down the main characters in a matter of minutes, sometimes it's unclear how these rides are setup - but a fun, breezy read nonetheless with somewhat shocking moments of violence. If you've got a morbid tween on your hands, I guarantee they're gonna eat this up!
