Arken Zaviere is the definition of a perfect mayor, he was the savior of Caloocan City. Aside from being strikingly handsome and intelligent, he was also known for being a competent mayor for providing the needs of everyone, saving every family from poverty, providing jobs for the jobless people, and giving college scholarships. Jonalyn 'Ayen' Macarios admired him ever since he became the mayor. Mayor Arken Zaviere is beyond perfect in her eyes until that ill-fated night in which she saw Mayor Arken Zaviere's dark nature.
DNF. Also, sobrang problematic talaga ng male lead. Muntik nanaman akong magkaroon ng reading slump dahil dito. Haha

I picked this up because I was intrigued by the hype and the premise, but sadly, it wasn't my cup of tea. I almost DNF'ed this one, but since a lot of you requested a review, I pushed through, and honestly, it nearly put me in a slump.
The characters were infuriating.
The writing felt choppy, the characters came across as flat, and the drama was so over the top that it pulled me out of the story rather than pulling me in.
The dialogue also didn't feel natural, which made it harder for me to connect with the characters or care about what was happening.
They say this is tagged as dark romance, but to me, it really didn't read that way. It felt more like romance with suspense and heavy drama, so if you're expecting a true dark romance, you might come out disappointed.
I will say I admire the ambition behind the plot, but the execution just wasn't for me.
Still, that doesn't mean I'm closing the door on this author, I'll definitely check out her other works, since this one just wasn't my match.
𝙍𝙀𝙈𝙄𝙉𝘿𝙀𝙍: 𝙍𝙀𝘼𝘿𝙄𝙉𝙂 𝙄𝙎 𝙎𝙐𝘽𝙅𝙀𝘾𝙏𝙄𝙑𝙀 — what worked for you might not work for me, and that's okay. we all experience books differently, and the more you read, the higher your standards can become. every story has its own audience, so let's respect each other's reviews. and just go be clear, my review is about the book, not the author. critiquing a story doesn't mean discrediting the hard work behind it.
i honestly like it, though it's kinda chaotic but i really love how they went back together after a year. and i love the way how Arken confessed his feelings to Ayen.
