A Reverse Harem Hellhound Shifter Romance

Soul Reapers run everything in the Shadow World and in Hell.

They capture runaway souls, make sure demons are not having wild weekends on Earth, and even bring the heir to the throne back to hell. I should have been one. Instead, I ran, leaving Hell behind, hoping my departure will save the place I call home from a horrific vision of its demise.

For two years, I managed to stay away. Then a Soul Reaper shows up, telling me it’s time to head home. While he’s not the first to try to drag me back, he’s the first to succeed in the task. Thankfully, I arrived back in Hell just in time.

Turns out, my vision of Hell falling apart has nothing to do with me taking the throne.

Now, it’s a race against the clock to move through the ranks at the Grim Reaper Academy, find my three hellhounds, and become the ultimate Soul Reaper before the fall of Hell arrives.

Hell's Reaper is a paranormal reverse harem novel, meaning the female main character doesn't have to choose between any of her eight men. This novel is intended for a mature audience.

***ARC REVIEW***
I enjoyed the storyline. The world building is interesting. Asura is funny and likable. I’m not sure how many guys she’s getting but so far all the possibilities are hot. I would have loved a little more personality consistency with Asura. She’s a little all over the place. It’s like Hunt wants to write heroines that are strong and confident but make them relatable through an insecurity, which I love, but more often than not it reads as contradictory. There are some minor errors on things the characters know and then later don’t know but nothing that interrupts the plot. And there are a few times where I’m not really sure who’s talking which makes things a little confusing. I like the spicy and the sex positivity, I just hope it doesn’t get repetitive. I’m very excited to see what comes next since it ends on a mini cliffhanger.

Maybe 2.5 🤪 Felt unbalanced and had potential. Wish there was more than a few seconds of plot and less everyone is hot 😂

I had a good time with this one. It does have some errors and inconsistencies so if that bothers you this may not be for you. I personally was able to move past them and enjoy the book. I think this is a fun story that has me intrigued. I’m super excited for the next book!

so much potential wasted

The main plot of this story has so much potential if the author could stick to one plan of writing. There are several points throughout the books were the MC contradicts something she said a few pages previously, and then the issue is just never resolved. Several conflicts in the book which are supposed to add mystery to the MC are brought up for a single sentence and then again never touched upon. Overall the book seems like it was rushed through and the poor plot lines make it difficult to enjoy.

Series Review: spicy but not great.

Rating: 2.9 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 3.9/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Tropes: RH, demons, soul reapers, friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, large harem

This was a hot mess. The first book wasn’t bad but the series slowly devolved from there. I didn’t like the writing. It lacked flow and things happened abruptly without any lead up. The FMC kept repeating that she was sex positive and that everyone hated her for it throughout the entire series. I was over it. Childish FMC.

This book is the reason why I’m reading again. I cannot explain how much I love this book.

Asura and her hounds are to die for. Definitely a fast paced book that’s a bit Insta lovey, but I think it works with the length of the book (203 pages). There is mystery and I’m really excited for find out who/what is causing the weird things going on. I’m also excited for Asura to finish her harem because there are 8!

Now you might ask why I gave this 4 stars if I loved it so much. Well there are grammatical and punctuation mistakes and if *I* noticed them, it’s kinda bad. I hope that they get fixed because it does make it a bit hard to recommend. But I hope you give it a try anyway. It’s definitely not unreadable, just noticeable.

If you love pnr RH with a strong FMC this is for you! It’s also pretty spicy! 🥵

🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5 spice (great back burner plot)

Holy crap! I may have stayed up until 2AM to finish this book, because it was so absolutely captivating I just could not stop reading it. This book is definitely smut heavy, but there is an interesting storyline to a degree. There are definitely some strong personalities coming through where you would normally get world building or plot development. This is RH, but I’m not sure how big only that there are a crap top of potentials. Well… maybe 5? 6…? There were a good bit of errors, but I can easily overlook all that with all the absolute giggling I was doing while reading. The smut scenes are very well described, and I absolutely adore the sex positivity outlook the FMC has. Of all the scenes the dorm scene is definitely my favorite (iykyk.) I’m curious to see what happens next. It was odd all that random intense action that seemingly happened out of no where the last few pages when the entire book was basically just smut and potential bond formation developments with just enough plot sprinkled in to keep you interested. I feel like the blurb for the “back of the book” needs to be rewritten as well. Also it’s a big pet peeve of mine when the cover art doesn’t match up with what happens in the book. Highly recommend not putting things in the art that specifically doesn’t ever happen in the book it’s depicting…..

the concept for this book is so interesting to me and i really liked all the different types of hellhounds (especially jigsaw) but this needs serious. editing. and definitely a little bit of reworking and the world build is lacking severely. if i was any good at that i’d literally do it for free for this author because i’m so invested in what this story could turn into. i would give this more stars for the concept but i would give it a lot less for the execution so three stars it is.

ALSO i think this would greatly benefit from being a couple hundred pages longer….it’ll give the author time to set up the academy more significantly and build the world to make it more captivating and easily digestible because the way it is right now feels very unrefined. adding more content would also help with the steady introduction of characters to this story…i felt as though we were meeting one character after the other after the other and i couldn’t easily differentiate any of them and it just felt like a giant stack of paperwork getting dropped on my desk. adding more pages would also help asuras character arc i think

This is my first Rune book and it will definitely not be my last.

The way Asura is comfortable in her body is beautiful. She's not afraid of being herself. Sexuality is just another form of expression for her.

Khazzie is definitely going to be a slow burn and I feel like it's gonna hurt before it gets good 🥵

Ledger gives golden retriever vibes. With a pyscho vibe.

Hazen gives a minor himbo vibe.

I need jigsaws pov!!!!!! IMMEDIATELY. I'm torn he gives major overprotective vibes. Like once he falls it's over! But I'm torn about how long it'll take.

I'm obsessed with this and need more immediately

Lots of degradation while claiming female empowerment... not sure about this one.
FMC was working as a stripper, mainly because she needed the money. But constantly reiterates that it was her choice her body, I get it but it just felt like overkill. Also, the sex scenes are all power plays, they trade off S and M roles. The sex scenes were just not my cuppa. I mean how many times can you read "pussy juices" in one chapter before it just becomes unseemly? I don't enjoy the "flowery terms" but it's always one extreme or the other, isn't there a happy medium between Pussy Lips and Petals?

Actually story notes....
Daughter of one of the leaders of hell/underworld/shadow world all crammed into one. There's a Devil, Hades, Grim Reaper, and Lucifer, like all existed together for some reason? Never explained why, you would think there would be a few more religious "Satan" like entities down there but I guess those 4 are the only ones worth mentioning.

Anyway Daughter of the Devil, Princess heir to her throne, gets dragged back home after running away to earth and working as a stripper. Goes to Soup Reaper Academy where she's supposed to train and find her hellhounds, hellhounds work and bond with a reaper (not in a sexual way normally but this is an RH so...) and she's training to become one.

Bigger plots and possible end of Hell (not the world just the underworld) apocalypse stuff to try and prevent in the future. FMC has a Demon form that she can't control but is super powerful, but since she suppresses it she's normally only medium powerful.

That's all I got on this one so far.

Interesting start though I can’t say I’m the biggest fan of Asura (cool name btw). As confident as she acts, Inarian is right and she is more focused on the guys than anything else. I get that she’s worried and that’s why I’ll keep reading the next book hoping she’ll get her head in the game.

I like Circe, though we didn’t see much of her, and the devil. He’s a really cool and involved dad for sure (who hides more than he’s letting on).

Interesting characters mostly with an intriguing plot. We’ll see how it goes next.

Characters and world building could use some fleshing out, but I'm interested to see where the story is going. We follow the heir to Hell, who is back and enrolled in Soul Reaper Academy. On the one hand she is focused on her role and her care for her family and subjects shines through. Yet on the other hand she acts as a ditzy, dick focused girl with a big ego and not a care in the world. It throws not only her fellow students of but me as reader as well. I hope we'll see more of her responsible side in the next book.

Listen, I know it says this went under a round of editing, but it needs another. There are repeat phrases, missing words, and random scene jumps, to name a few things.

Khaz is so stupid, and Asura is annoying.
This gets two stars because I want to know what happens next, so I will read book 2, but I'm going to hate myself while doing it.

Also, nothing happens in this book until the very end with a cliff hanger that came out of nowhere.

IM SCREAMING 😱 & EATING THIS ISH UP LIKE ITS A JERRY SPRINGER SHOW !!!

Seriously swooning over EVERY character. Especially the Devil himself… giving me “daddy issue” syndrome and everything. 😒

Some sentences are repetitive but I’m loving this plot too much to really care. Running to start book 2. 🙃

disappointed

Honestly super disappointed In this book. I’ve waited for months for this book just for it to come out and extremely incomplete. Not to mention it’s extremely fast paced.

Wow, I lived this so much. Little Fen was adorable. I loved all the characters, especially Asura. I liked how she was so in touch with her sexuality and her owned her own body. I hated when she got called a whore though. I already downloaded book 2 and can't wait to continue

More like a 2.5. The struggle for me is the main character essentially being a sex crazed air head. I mean we all know what we sign up for with this book and smut is fine, I'm down. But I want my main character to be at least a little out together.

Also I am losing track of people. Who does she want to be with? I think the list is shorter of people she doesnt want to be with.

amazing!

Spice: 3.5/5 - medium burn story but I think it’ll definitely build as the series grows

Ah I love when stories are written with great characters! Our FMC is a little too boy crazy for me and not taking things as serious as she should, but the story is still building. Can’t wait to read more!

LOVE THIS BOOK & LOVE RUNE!

The MC is a badass an I adore that she isn’t portrayed as another damsel in distress. The world building and meeting of all the important characters was so steady and I can not wait to see where this goes! The spice scenes were delicious an not to short BUT the hell hounds 🥴🥺 can I have one of each please I love ledger and hazens bromance but boy oh boy jigsaw has my heart the little toxic boy .

I received this as an ARC for my honest review!

So where to start. I first found Rune on TikTok with her teasers for this series. When I has noticed she was asking for ARC readers, I hurriedly signed up! She never fails to deliver with her books. She is and will always be a one click buy author for me!

Ok, about Hell's Reaper! OMG it is absolutely amazing and beautifully written. The way she writes her characters and the world building is just top notch. The hell hounds will have you panting and envious of Asura. The smutt scenes are always chefs kiss 💋. This does end on a cliffhanger but you don't have to wait to long for the next one to come.

Her books are truly amazing and highly worth reading. Every time I get done reading I want to scream for everyone to read her books because they don't know what they are missing. I know I'm horrible at leaving reviews but she just renders me speechless.

Please if you love anything paranormal, rh, and just amazing then give her a shot. You won't regret it!!!!

This book really needs an editor. There is scene jumps/time jumps with not even a paragraphs break to separate them. Weird turn of phrases. Etc.

I called it quits when I got to a scene where not only 1 word was repeated but whole sentences, 3 times, within 3 pages.

Ex:
Page 1: "I sidestep as the ball hits the wall. I sidestep as the ball hits the wall. I'll get you one day..." (also to note what teacher speaks like that? Especially to a student they met 2 second ago?)

Also, he says "earth runs on dunkins." I assume it's a joke but there is nothing to support it. No inner musing/laugh from the MC, no chuckle from the teacher after he says it. And there is a lot of this in this book, random things thrown and no support from the scene around them or the MCs inner thoughts.

Next page: ".. You have to learn to work with them. You must learn to work with them and work as a team..."

Next page: "He shrugs. "Sometimes its as simple as asking. "Sometimes it's as simple as asking, and sometimes it might..."

Yes the quote is written exactly as how it appears in the book. With the quotation marks, then the start of a sentence, more quotation marks and the same start of sentence.

I can understand repeating the same word one too many times (though most authors search the document for repeat words and edit them out) as mistakes happen. I can also maybe forgive one duplication of a sentence as a booboo. But 3 in 3 pages? That's when I decided to DNF this book.

It sucks because the concept is cool and there is a lot of potential. I think editing needs to be done, more fleshing out of the characters and better work on the time jumps/scene transitions.

Got really excite with the plot, it sounded different from everything j’ve been reading lately, but honestly that book was a massive disappointment.

First of all, I got really confused with the change in scenarios, one sentence the FMC is in the lunch room, then the next phrase she’s inside her dorm.
I found it had a BIG lack of character development. At which point Asura and Aemos became this best friends?

Also, her younger brother of 13yo looks more like a 6yo… c’mon which 13yo wants to go to a playground? My 7yp nephew is more mature then Fenric….

Now let’s talk about what was the biggest turn off for me: there is a really interesting world and plot, but all the author focused on was on the FMC talking about sex, 290 pages of pure sex conversation, she sees a guy and automatically gets turn on and all her thoughts are about sex and being fucked and etc etc It’s almost like the entire purpose of Asura is to be treated like a sex doll…. Also what’s this fetish with toxic men? I feel like there should be a TW at the beginning of the book about how shit all male characters treat the main girl…

Tbh not gonna be reading the next books even tho i was looking foward for a story in hell and a development on it.
