Shirayuki and Zen are enjoying some rare time off up in Lilias when they spot Obi out and about with an unfamiliar woman. Their curiosity sparked, they decide to play detective and trail Obi! Meanwhile, Mitsuhide and Kiki arrive in Lilias themselves, where Kiki plans to make a full report on how she proposed to Mitsuhide and got rejected!
I’ve decided to continue reading this series! I think, for me anyways, the key to reading and enjoying this series is to NOT binge read it, but read it a little at a time and see it as a nice, cozy, relaxing read once in awhile then a new, epic favorite I will be madly in love with which this series is not, haha. But at least I’m enjoying it now!
I love how the whole gang is together in this volume, and I really enjoyed seeing them spend time together. While I’m still not happy with how certain things turned out at the end of Volume 19 with certain characters I’m hoping that will change in Volume 21 after the conversations here (being super vague because spoilers).
I had fun with this one and am looking forward to continuing the series. ☺️
‼️Content‼️
Language: damn; son of a… (not finished); what the hell; hell; heck; freaking
Violence: a headbutt to a character’s stomach; slaps on the face and back
Sexual: mild suggestive hints; shirtless guys bathing; a girl bathes (nothing is shown beyond her bare shoulders); kissing
Drug/Alcohol: characters drink and one gets a little tipsy
This volume is such a treat! Having the gang spend time together again, all of them, and just enjoying some downtime was really fun. The ending did make me a lil sad though...
Fun reunions and important conversations—that's basically what this volume was! The talk between Zen and Mitsuhide got me right here.
*pats heart*
I just love their relationship. 😊
It was nice to see the whole group back together again, but it was also...a little slow. I'm ready for the Lilias arc to be over in hopes that it'll help the overall plot to pick up a little.
"Yet whether we're apart or together as we are right now I will always look on in support of you, the ones I hold dear."
I deeply love shoujo manga, but for some reason, I do not have many favorite female shoujo characters that stand out immediately and live "rent-free" in my head as some of their male counterparts. I don't think it's because I don't dislike shoujo heroines any less, but can't say why I'm like that either since I feel it's been that way since I started my manga/anime journey regardless of demographic.
However, Shirayuki is different. I have loved her character from the very beginning, but with every volume I feel I love her character more. She makes decisions over and over again that I admire and would love to show in my own life. Goodness, she even motivated me to FINALLY cut my hair after weeks of wanting to! LOL!
But in all seriousness, Shirayuki is amazing, and don't think I will ever NOT feel that way. The opening quote was spoken by her and feel it wraps up her character perfectly. While she is pursuing her passion from afar, there has never not been a moment when she was holding her friends close in her heart and doing all she can to support them in some way.
This was a really fun volume though! It was relaxing and had plenty of shengagins that made me laugh and smile and just have a really good time! Granted, it wasn't all fun times because that chat Mitsuhide and Zen had was hard! Mitsuhide is one of the most incredibly loyal characters I have ever seen, and have so much compassion for him and how caring he is about Zen and Kiki. I know many didn't like how he turned down Kiki's proposal in the previous volume, but he is another character that I couldn't help but admire more and more. I hope that he finds continued healing from everything that has happened!
I really enjoyed what happened because of the blizzard! LOL! Was SO nice to see Shirayuki and Zen have some special one-on-one time!
Interestingly enough, it's always hard when our characters separate, but I felt at the end of this volume that a new adventure is on the horizon to bring them all back together (including Little Ryu!) here soon. I didn't feel that same sadness I felt a few times when they departed, which left me relieved since I've been pretty emotional the past few volumes! LOL!
I always enjoy seeing Suzu and Yuzuri! They are always fun characters, especially with how straight-faced Suzu is! LOL!
I'm not sure what is going to happen next, but I have DEEPLY enjoyed these past few volumes! It's been beautiful to see everyone together and just be able to breathe in light of all the events that have taken place!
"Kiki finding a place where one belongs probably depends on who you are, your past, and the people fate has led you to. I've come to think that since living in Clarines."
At this point I’m so confused… does Mitsuhide actually like Kiki and is just denying his feelings? Does Obi like Shirayuki? Or are they all just platonic friends? I can’t seem to figure it out, it seems like everyone is platonic friends but sometimes what they say confuses me 😅 If anyone knows plz let me know lol!
Also maybe it’s just me or does it seem like Shirayuki is kinda becoming like a Mary-sue character? For some reason she’s kinda been annoying me lately tho idk why. And I feel like her scenes with Zen are repetitive, whenever they’re together it’s like they’re lovey-dovey which okay maybe that’s a normal thing that happens in romance books (thus probably why I don’t like too many romance stories) but like, come on can we see something else besides lovey-dovey stuff when the two are alone together? Maybe it’s just me haha!
This volume is cute and cozy. I love the snow and the warmth steaming from mugs of tea and bowls of stew. Also, it's great to have the whole gang together.
Sorata Akiduki really excels at the quiet, slice-of-life moments between arcs. The way these characters develop and the relationships that grow between them are what makes this series so great.
The relationship between Kiki and Mitsuhide is confusing. I’m not sure how he can equate her to Zen, nor do I quite understand his dedication to Zen only. TBH, I actually found the whole Sereg thing to be odd, because it’s kind of silly that Mitsuhide was so easily disarmed and imprisoned with such flimsy evidence. But Kiki expressed her love for him so straightforwardly, and he turned her down so casually with no hard feelings on either side.
Sometimes the relationships in the series are unrealistic - like Obi’s feelings for Shirayuki that I guess will never be expressed to her, but others know…and he’s always hanging around and helping her, whereas Zen has other responsibilities and has only seen her a couple of times in the last few years.

Snow White with the Red Hair is usually a comfort read. Well I haven’t been comforted by the past few volumes.
The stupid glowing rocks/flowers were a horrible plot element. The twins with this past political story was a bit convoluted. I HATED the volume with Kiki and Mitsuhide (a bunch of build up for NOTHING.) Luckily all that stuff is done. It’s over.
Volume 20 was a breath of fresh air. It was so nice seeing the gang together and hanging out. This volume ended with a bright look at the future. We can now move on to whatever the next storyline is and I’m excited for the fresh start!
I'm going to be honest, I read this so fast partly because I was so heartbroken over the last volume I worried I would never come back if I didn't get past that part right away. I'm glad things are less awkward between some of the characters now, but it still feels like the series has shifted a little for me because it's just so obvious to everyone in the series itself that things should have turned out differently. I'm kind of mad that the two people most involved are acting so weirdly indifferently about it. Nice to see some of the old hijinks back at least.
Yes, make the idiot understand that he is an idiotic man that needs to learn not to put his foot in his mouth to the extent that he has! Honestly!!!! However, everything appears to have worked out amicably, so that’s good…. It spells trouble, though. (๑ó⌓ò๑)
In this volume, there were happy moments left and right with the rejection and blizzard being the worst things to occur, so I know that the next couple volumes will have something traumatic happen.
I love this... I love the story, i love the unique characters of this story, i love isit lot, i love each and every about the story .. lovely The best romantic story in planet... It's just amazing... I watched the anime version but it only have 2 seasons...i request the creator to continue the story.. please... Anime is the best way to feel the story.... Please continue the story i request you...
Lots of nice moments and conversations between the friends in this volume. I still don’t get Mitsuhide turning down Kiki. My reaction was similar to Zen’s to be honest LOL. And sweet Obi turning down a suitor because “my heart is with my lady” UGH IT HURTS. But it was nice to see the friends scheme together to give Shirayuki and Zen some time alone.
Watched the anime and knew that the story continued in the manga. It's light fluff. I know that the premise requires Shirayuki and Zen to be together but it would have been more interesting to me if along the way they realized that they are better as supportive friends and she ended up with Obi. Also, she just utters "Zen" way too often.
Aww, Zen getting told about Mitsuhide turning Kiki down. Sounds like Kiki is moving on from him and probably sticking with Hisame. Still cares about Mitsuhide though and had Zen and Obi look out for him.
Them all adventuring around Lilias and helping out was cute. And getting snowed in at the Inn was cute ❤️
Bye Zen, Kiki, and Mitsuhide!

The group is reunited! With all of them growing so much as individuals, I'm loving seeing them come together and see how their character dynamics have changed/matured (I always love Obi shenanigans). Made this a delightful volume to read.
Everybody meets back up in Lilias. Shirayuki and Zen try to follow Obi around (and fail). Zen gives Mitsuhide a therapeutic headbutt. Then everyone has a chill day that ends in a creative plan backfiring spectacularly.
A wonderous advancement of the story. I will have to reread the series from the beginning, a it has been nearly year since I read the last one Zen, Shirayuri, Mitsudhide, Obi, and Kiki really shined in manga 20.
These little moments where the characters just spend time with each other is really such a nice read, seeing their relationships grow! Although I'm still a little annoyed about a certain situation, that doesn't put me off.
Romantic title. Nice surprise for Zen and Shirayuki to be alone. I hope Mitsuhide will change his mind in the future. Nice drawings, but the expressions don't really show the emotions of the moment. Relaxing reading.
I'm still enjoying this series. I've noticed the pace of the story has slowed. I wonder if that's because the setting is winter in the northern territory of Lilias, where it snows a lot 🤔
Anyway, on to volume 21. Not many more volumes left now, but I'm not sure if the series is complete...
