Fairly broad and simple but thorough discussion that guides the reader through the development of a topic into a full research problem and paper, with emphasis on how to make the work interesting and understandable to readers. Generally helpful for the first draft of a research grant.

Great for writing a research paper. I wish I had read this before I wrote my first research paper.

The real power of this book is how completely it reframes the fundamental concept of research. Research is a social, reader-centered conversation. The core objective of academic writing is to transform raw information into a structured argument that moves a specific audience from doubt to understanding, or from an unsolved problem to an actionable solution.

Rather than serving as a manual for specific research methods or prose mechanics, the bulk of the book focuses on how to construct a sound, reader-centered argument, and honestly, this kind of high-level cognitive guidance is far more valuable than technical writing tips anyway.

Crazy how some people don’t know how to structure arguments or how to explain research. This is a good tool to do so.
