Sadie’s story starts off rough…like really rough. She moves across the country at 18, hoping to explore BDSM for the first time, only for her first experience to turn into trauma and assault, which nearly killed her. She wakes up in a hospital, no support system, no clue what to do next and not even sure how to process what happened. Cue Derek and the Rawhide Ranch.
Now, Sadie doesn’t identify as a Little at first. She’s been fighting so hard to be seen as an adult, especially with deadbeat parents and everything stacked against her. But when she ends up at the Ranch, something about that environment and especially Derek, starts to stir something in her. And while she’s convinced she’s not one of those girls, watching the other Littles kind of makes her long for that same care and safety too.

Derek, the big brooding Daddy Dom and owner of the Ranch, doesn’t push her. He’s all calm authority, the type who lays down rules and expects them to be followed, but doesn’t play games. He’s got his own demons and isn’t exactly the soft type, but he’s patient, grounded and gives Sadie the structure and care she didn’t know she needed. Their dynamic is strict but built on communication and consent, and once she starts opening up, the chemistry between them really starts to burn.
The story leans into some heavy themes: trauma, shame, the complicated emotions that come with surviving something you don’t even know how to name. Sadie’s journey isn’t linear… she acts out, lashes out, pushes back, but that’s what makes her growth feel earned. Watching her slowly find healing, figure out what she wants and let herself feel safe again was one of the best parts of this. And Derek? He definitely has a sadist streak, but he never crosses a line. He respects her limits, goes over contracts, safe words and aftercare.
The story is messy, emotional, sometimes hard to read, but ultimately a story about healing through trust and rediscovering yourself. Definitely more intense than your usual age-gap Daddy romance, but it works. I definitely recommend it if you look for a darker start but with a turn of events to the better.

Absolutely love these books from Maren Smith. Sadie had a really frightening first experience with BDSM and was left for dead. She then went to stay at Rawhide Ranch where littles go to be safe and can explore their little sides. Derek is the owner and a daddy dom, when he sees Sadie for the first time he realises Sadie has a little side as well as a more hard core side to her that calls to the other part of his personality from his Daddy side, that no one else as managed to satisfy. Sadie really struggled with letting her little side out, but Derek managed to guide her and show her what being a little was about and that she was ok and not to be embarrassed by it. This book was well written and showed the emotions involved through the rollercoaster ride that Sadie had gone through after her attack. I like that Sadie gets her HEA at the end. Looking forward to reading more from Rawhide Ranch.

Quick Summary
We finally get Sadie and Derek's story!!!!
18 year old Sadie moved from California to follow her passion and explore the BDSM lifestyle. But her first foray into the BDSM world ends in a traumatic assault and being left for dead on the side of the road. When she wakes up at the hospital with a well intentioned stranger and no family, friends or even a place to stay while she recovers, Sadie takes another risk and agrees to go to Rawhide Ranch.
She might be young, but Sadie does a little digging into Rawhide Ranch and although she doesn't associate as a Little - she's fought all her life to be an adult, after all! - she can't lie to herself when she's intrigued by the Littles she encounters and the feels it generates inside her.
Of course, there's also stern Daddy Dom, Derek. Everything about him, from his handsomeness to his stern dominance sets Sadie on fire. When Derek takes her in hand and gives Sadie just what her pain/pleasure loving inner sub needs, these two realize they might just have found their other half in each other. Just in time for Christmas!

I have been curious about Sadie and Derek's beginning since meeting them as secondary characters in the previous holiday novellas at Rawhide Ranch and it was just as good as I expected. It was full of love, romance, plenty of Daddy and Little time and it was just all around a really cute back story for Derek and Sadie and the whole Rawhide Ranch world as a whole. And that ending was full of all the Little feels, topped with Christmas magic. The ending was hands down my favorite moment between these two!
I loved it but why not 5 stars? Okay, so I loved meeting Sadie and fell for Derek just as hard, not to mention how relatable Sadie's struggle to explore DDlg and accepting herself and her kinks (which was all hands down amazingly well written) I felt conflicted over the how, why and what exactly happened to Sadie at the beginning of the story. Her sexual assault, rape and almost murder seemed too dark for what I was expecting. This type of thing is serious, the risks that were taken and the dangerous consequences of those decisions should have been addressed a lot more.
The Sadie I had gotten to know from past stories was very childlike, sweet but a little bratty and full of mischief so it was a shock and pretty heartbreaking to find out she had such a painful past. A painful past that I felt got swept away with a few vague explanations about it being a big deal, but also not really being a big deal. I think I needed more closure or more of a reaction, I guess?
Derek best clears it up by explaining why even through she enjoyed what was happening (because of her pain kink) she was violated while in subspace since she hadn't agreed to sex and she wasn't in the right headspace to object when he crossed that line. It was the right answer but I kept expecting Sadie to react but she just rolled with the punches - literally - without much fanfare and than gets over it and heals both physically and mentally, without any problems.
I know I'm expounding on this lot but it was a big issue I felt wasn't handled in the most believable or healthy way possible.
I still appreciated the positive outcome here and I love this authors DDlg stories so I definitely still recommend just be warned as Sadie's situation might be a trigger for some. I personally wasn't ready to tackle such dark material.

Sadie is a Little and a pain-slut who takes refuge at the ranch after she's beaten and left for dead by a pseudo-dom. The rest of the book details her burgeoning relationship with the ranch's owner. Or at least I assume that it did because I DNF after this:
Side Note: It's interesting how none of Ms. Smith's subs ever say "no" to anything their doms want. We speak of fantasy doms; this author revels in the fantasy sub who has no wants, needs, or goals of her own; never calls her safeword; possesses no limits; and is turned on by anything he does to her. Ms. Smith's subs aren't recognizable female characters; rather, they're straight men's wet dreams and, for me, incredibly boring.
1 star. I appreciated the discussions of kink-shaming and "blame the victim." I've read a lot of Ms. Smith's books. She's written so many abused subs that they've become her signature MFC. She's written so many abusive doms who immediately start whaling on these subs with little consideration for how their actions might make their trauma worse that they've become her signature MMC. And she's written so many MC's whose relationships work out only due to the magic of fiction that she's created her own sub-genre.

He weighed his options, her frame of mind, and her needs against the mottle of healing bruises.If a man beating a woman fresh out of the hospital with bruises on her face, bruises on her body, a black eye, and choke marks around her neck says "responsible Daddy Dom" to you, go for it. For me, these books that use domestic violence, assault, and rape as nothing more than exploitative plot points magically "cured" by BDSM aren't worth it. I get that these are fantasies, but I just can't suspend my disbelief enough to make any of this palatable.

Difficult to rate
No plot spoilers (much)
Potential trigger warning that really should have been mentioned in the blurb.
I'm not going to apologise for saying that this book is disturbing. We are meant to believe that an 18year old on her first visit to BDSM land gets abused and raped and left for dead in a ditch with nothing to her name, is, four days later subjected to a heavy beating and anal sex in the name of a 'caring ' Daddy Dom. For real? Where was the counselling for just how desperately mixed up she is? Nope, it's all full speed ahead and bring on the bull whip.
I usually like books by Maren Smith but this is too much, the use of non consensual sex as a plot device strikes me as disgusting and quite frankly a low shot from an author of Ms Smith's calibre. There is no exploration of the FL's psyche, no explanation of her needs, I found the idea that she is a repressed little was worked to death in the first chapter, and the overbearing belief that she just needs a sadistic DD laughable.
Except I don't think I smiled even once, not even at the 'adorable ' littles (which was pointed out every time, as in : her adorable smile etc ad nauseum )
There are quite a few grammatical and editorial errors that really irritate, a proof reader should have picked them up with ease.
No doubt the book will appeal to some, but I can't with any honesty not provide my opinion, especially given that some readers seem to have read a totally different book than I did if the five star ratings are anything to go by.

On the fence about how to rate this... I enjoyed the story but question the too quick time line of all the actions. I truly believe that there needed to be more than just a few days for all of the sexiness that happens at the Ranch.

Sadie is abused, raped and left for dead. Within days of this happening, she is under the domain of Derek (owner of Rawhide Ranch) and subjected to further punishments, exposed to "Little" activities and the darker S/M side of BDSM.

I enjoy this story but it didn't really feel like a Christmas story other then the appearance of Santa. This was a very intense story of two people who have a light and dark side and those sides line up perfectly together. But I was kind of expecting a light "Little" story and this was not what I expect so just a heads up. But it was still still a wonderful story of the coming together of Derek and Sadie.

It was lovely reading Derek and Sadies story. I always wondered how they got together. An enjoyable read that you will not want to put down. The ending was rather shocking but I won't give that away here.

My thoughts - possible spoilers, I am a rambler.
Okay! EHHH! I was so excited to read this book because I read to others in the Rawhide Ranch Universe and I loved Derek (the owner) and wanted to know his story. Along with Sadie she was just so adorable.
Reading the book. My heart… you guys! Sadie’s such a bubbling character in the other two books. But to see where she started so broken, confused, lost and self-shamed* broke my heart! I wanted to reach in a hug her. Seeing her beginning really showed how much Derek and the ranch has helped her. She felt confused and ashamed that her attempt to be a submissive took a deadly turn. She was confused with her body’s reaction to the abuse even more after the idiot of a detective teller her -whole in the hospital bed might I add - “what did you expect?” Crazy! She didn’t know if she was r-pe or not. Ab-sed or not.
But thankfully, Derek and the Ranch helped clear up that confusion. And the confusion she felt with her thinking she wasn’t a little. She was, but you know being newly 18 and her physical parents are dead beats she wanted to be an adult, seen and treated as an adult. But the ranch seen it before and knew she was one. Derek didn’t force her and was patient. He only wanted her to explore her lLttle space to let her and her Little to be friends.
Now, Big Daddy Dom Master Derek *blushes* I love even more. He expects people to follow the rules and act right if staying at his ranch. He has a lot of people he has to care for. So when Sadie gets in a tiff with another Little putting her hands on them plus pushing Nanny J he didn’t hesitate to spank her. Didn’t care it was her first day and didn’t even get to see her dorm yet. — Daddy Derek is a S-dist but never had a Little of his own and most definitely didn’t try it on the other Littles in his care. His beast didn’t move until Sadie because Sadie is a mas-chist. (Yes they spoke and went over contracts, punishments, safe words, etc before getting involved)
Long story short. Love this book.

HOW MASTER DEREK AND SADIE FOUND EACH OTHER
It was fun to be back at Ms. Allie Belle's world at Rawhide Ranch, an exclusive BDSM resort. One thing the resort understands is that everyone has their own kink, but all are welcome. For many, it is a Little with a Daddy Dom.

Cute mostly lighthearted story (with a dark past, mentioned in the TWs) about a little, slowly accepting age play. In terms of bdsm, spanking is involved, restraints as well, and you get about three full scenes. Safe words are explained, but we don’t really know what the exact safe word is. You also get a contract that she reads and signs with preferences outlined but the contract and the basics of BDSM are not fully explained to the reader.
In terms of time jumps, you get one fade to black scene and the epilogue is a year into the future, but it is mainly fast paced.
PS with minor spoilers: I felt that the little went into the little headspace very quickly for being in denial about it. The denial is mainly before and after a scene. She also doesn’t hesitate despite having limited bdsm experience, but it also makes sense in a way due to the trauma she faced. The way the little deals with trauma is definitely different from the expected norm but it’s also a plausible scenario. Also maybe since it’s in third person, I couldn’t connect with both of the characters as much as if it was first person

This new Little offering from Ms. Smith is a whole lot darker than her usual fare. Sadie is pretty sure her sexual proclivities lean towards BDSM, with a fairly severe Dom, however her first venture turns out disastrously with her being brutalized and left for dead. When released from the hospital she is offered safe haven at the Rawhide Ranch which she accepts because she has nowhere else to go. She didn’t know this was a haven for “Littles”, nor did she believe she had any of those tendencies. As the story progresses she learns more about the lifestyle but continues to have mixed emotions. She knows she hungers for discipline, severe discipline, but she rebels against the Little designation. Derek is convinced she is a Little, looking for acceptance, and does everything in his power to “bring her out”. A good story, well written and paced perfectly. Unfortunately, for my liking, Sadie is too much of a masochist and Derek is too much of a sadist. Yes they end up being right for each other, but it’s too dark for my preferences. 4 Stars

This is a sweet story about Sadie, barely an adult at age 18, but absolutely ready to explore her submissive and masochistic urges. This leads her to make a bad mistake with an inexperienced Dom, and she nearly dies. She is rescued and taken to Rawhide Ranch, which is a haven for Littles to explore themselves with or without their own Daddies, where she is taken to recover from her injuries and to keep her safe. But Sadie is all grown up now, and she is most definitely NOT a Little. At least that is what she adamantly tells everyone, especially Nanny J and Derek, the owner of the ranch, who is most definitely a Daddy Dom. And he knows that Sadie is most definitely a Little, and realizes that he is going to have to help Sadie come to accept herself for whom she truly is. He guides her through her pouts, tantrums, need for a stuffie, and spankings given as harshly as she needs them to be. But has he found his own Little Girl now, or is she just one of the many Littles that pass through his office as he must discipline those that break the rules and need his type of stern discipline.

This was the first book in the Rawhide Ranch I read, and boy was I surprised to find that I have absolutely LOVED this whole series. When I started to read about Sadie and Master Derick, I had only read one other book on DD/LG, so was not sure what I was getting into. I absolutely love the way Maren shows the different dynamics of Big mindset and Little mindset. I absolutely cherish the way the relationship evolved, and how they both thrived with each other. I must admit I have finished all the books in the series so far (only took 10 days as real life and my husband and kids kept intruding) before writing a review, so will not go into too much detail of the entire book, only express that as a Vanilla (with some little traits and submissive tendancies, as well as a yearning which I am not quite ready to follow) I have loved every book in this journey and am looking forward to more from you all.

This is a different story about Rawhide Ranch, Sadie had been left for dead but until that point had enjoyed everything her roommate/Dom had done to her but did not realize that sub space distorted her ability to consent. Derek felt an immediate pull toward Sadie and recognized that she was a little even as she vehemently denied it. Nanny J also played an integral role in Sadie’s awareness and acceptance. Derek who normally suppresses his hardcore sadistic side is amazed that Sadie also likes to play that way. There were times I had tears in my eyes as Sadie struggled with her real desires, but Nanny J and Derek help her struggle through and her acceptance. The epilogue was so sweet and a little surprising for Santa when Sadie told him the only thing she wanted for Christmas. A perfect story for this time of year.

I completely fell in love with this story. Sadie is a young lady who appears to be a submissive who is a Little and who likes to play rough. The fact that her roommate/Dom did things without her consent is something she didn't understand but yeah, being throw out in a ditch naked wasn't the best feeling in the world. Derek feels something for Sadie when she comes to Rawhide Ranch and after a little while has to take her in hand. Sadie is fighting what she feels ashamed to admit she likes. With Derek's fim but gentle ways, she starts learning more about herself, but will she ever come to terms with it? I love the connection between these two. Derek is a gentle but very firm Daddy Dom and he likes to play hard. Can Sadie be the one for him? My favorite book in this little series, hands down!

Sadie’s Little Christmas is an intense, highly sexual and deeply emotional read about identity and self acceptance. The events that set this story into motion and the battle of accepting the lust and sexual needs born thereof, makes this book not only raw, but daring, and I can’t think of any author pulling it off as well as Maren Smith has done. She thought that she knew what she wanted but now she will question her own wants and needs. Derek is the owner of Rawhide Ranch and is a Daddy Dom thru and thru. When he meets Sadie, he knows that she is his Little. He has to show her what being a Little is truly about and how a good Daddy takes care of her needs. This is a short story that gives Sadie and Derek the chance to have a future together. I enjoyed this book in the Rawhide Ranch Holidays series

I loved this amazing story. I couldn't put it down. I loved the interactions between Sadie and Derek. Sadie has come to the Rawhide Ranch as a guest. She experienced an awful event. While at the ranch, she discovers somethings about herself. Derek has been running the Rawhide Ranch and was looking for his Little. He doesn't think he will ever find someone but meeting Sadie might change that. He sees something in her that she doesn't. He convinces her to try being a Little for a period of time. Sadie isn't sure she is a Little but she is willing to try it. Will they realize that they are perfect for each other?

It was great to finally get to read Sadie's story. She is in the other Little stories but I loved learning about Sadie's adventure into BDSM as a submissive, being a Little and she'd get into subspace when the play was rough. At 18 her roommate/Dom almost killed Sadie. He did things to her without her consent and then threw her into a ditch. She wakes in the hospital and she so very confused. She ends up going to the Rawhide Ranch and ends up with the owner, Derek as her Daddy Dom. He's finally found the one person who can play like he likes. After fighting with her little side for so long she finds out that she like the little Sadie as much as the Sub Sadie. Great story. Derek is a strong Daddy Dom who has been asked to give Sadie a safe place on his ranch to recover after a BDSM session goes wrong and almost kills her. Refusing to admit that she is a Little, Sadie fights against the concept but as time goes by she realizes that there is a lot about Littles that appeal to her, especially the feeling of being safe and cared for by Derek. This is a well written and entertaining story that is full of emotions with a touch of discipline added. I loved the story and how they have a HEA.

Finally Sadie's story!
I've now read several Rawhide Ranch books and along the way have found myself very curious about Sadie and Derek's story. I am THRILLED that Maren finally gave us their story.
I will admit that Sadie's backstory was not at all what I expected given the Little that I have come to know in these books, but it wasn't in a bad way at all. I love that there is SO much more to these characters then I would've guessed based on their representation as supporting characters in other books.
This was a fantastic story with a little heavier kink then other Rawhide books and I loved it a little extra for that.

I LOVED Sadie in alle the other books. And I definitely did NOT expect this book to run out this kinky like wow, wow.
But all in all I have to say that their book wasn’t my favorite but i love them in alle the other books even more.
What made me a little sad tho was that in all the other ebooks of the series we get to see her happy and bubbly and doing pranks, whereas we did not get to see that in her own book. Could be because it book three and I read the ones after this one before, but anyway definitely worth the reading
