After a mission in Ailinia leaves her thirsty for revenge and a team of her own, Claire returns stateside and begins searching.

About the author
Susan Horsnell
237 books173 followersI was born in Manly on the Northern Beaches in Sydney, Australia and grew up in the west after we moved there to help my brother’s eczema which was made worse by salt air. I now reside in the beautiful sunny state of Queensland.
My dad had the biggest impact on my life. I have always had an overactive imagination and would often tell him stories which floated in my mind. He encouraged me to put pen to paper convinced that one day they would become published books.
Apart from marrying the love of my life, the highlight of my life was being accepted into Nursing just before my 16th birthday. It had been a long-time dream and one which encompassed 37 years of my life. Along with nursing, being married to a Naval Officer for almost 47 years, and posted in numerous places, gave me experiences which I have written into many of my books.
We enjoy traveling the country with our Caravan/RV, and Jack Russell puppy by the name of Gemma who will be joining us.
As my parents were British, never Australian citizens, I hold dual citizenship and we plan to take advantage of this to spend two years traveling the UK and Europe in the near future. It will also give me the opportunity to catch up with many family members who reside in England.
My books are in various genres - Western Historical Romance-both steamy and sweet, Contemporary Romance-steamy and sweet, Male/Male, Australian Outback and City Romance. I also have one menage and one paranormal romance along with two children's books. As I said earlier, I have a rather overactive imagination.
I hope you will pick up one of my books and when you close the cover on one of my stories it will be with a satisfied sigh.

What an amazing vision to have pulled this multi-author series together.
This book is a great introduction of the team that makes up PHOENIX FORCE! They’re an all women team of ex-military and tactical specialists that bring a certain talent to the team that Team Leader Claire Marshall has envisioned.
Sick of the red tape and politics that she’s seen in her prestigious military career, a shocking event that could have been prevented by her team meant that she’d had enough of being hamstrung by self-serving leaders and politicians. Life events for her changed dramatically, and she was given the opportunity to hand pick a team willing to undertake off-book missions to take down the terrorist leaders, and bring a justice to those who have suffered. This woman is as tough as they come.
Author Susan Horsnell has pulled together an amazing pool of talent to bring the charismatic women of PHOENIX FORCE to life. This is a forward thinking initiative where her prequel has introduced some pretty forceful characters that will be picked up by authors that many of us are already familiar with. Even better though, this PHOENIX FORCE multi-author series also provides readers with the opportunity to read new-to-them authors as they write the characters that we’ve met in this well written prequel that promises fast moving action, romantic suspense, and I hope, some plain old hot and sexy romance!! Oh, and for me personally, I’m after the blowing up of things and a high body count of ‘baddies’.
Ms Horsnell has in my mind, captured everything that I love about my favourite TV programs and military reads, especially with that weapons locker!!! Claire shows her first two team members the goodies, “Before we leave, I want to show you something that will have you both drooling.” They followed me across the room. I switched off the security and unlocked a three-inch-thick concrete door to the ‘weapon’s locker.’ When I pulled the door open, their eyes widened to the size of plates. “I can’t believe this arsenal.”
True, I’ve romanticised the art of war, but I’m not going to lie about my pre-occupation with the TV series ‘Strikeback’, ‘Seal Team’ or ‘The Brave’. For me, Ms Horsnell has nailed it and I can’t even stress enough how much I am looking forward to the promise of this series to come. I’ve read more than a few of the authors who are a part of this series, I love their writing and would pre-order on their name alone, so I’m anticipating their interpretations of the characters we’ve been introduced to.
This prequel though, I loved it. And I’m as excited as all hell of what’s to come. Author Susan Horsnell has done those characters, and their respective authors proud, and I’m looking forward to hitting each of these books as they’re released. 5-Stars✯☆✯☆✯

Claire Marshall is one strong, determined young woman and I absolutely love her! She knows what she wants and goes for it.
This story sets the background for the coming books in the series where we get to know the stories behind each of Claire’s team members.
I can’t wait to read these stories as they all have incredible skills and their personal backgrounds are very intriguing.
Although there were a couple of emotional moments in this book that were both gut-wrenching and anger-inducing, I am sure we will be in for a world of emotional drama with the rest of the books. Bring them on!

Woohoo break out the 'mission impossible' music for this one.
Retired service women are out to get justice while not tied up with red tape from the Government.
In this prequel we learn of the compound, how it came about and the recruitment of all these kick ar$e women.
I'm so looking forward to reading this series, discovering new to me authors and all the adventures of each team member as they right wrongs from their past.
This will be a fantastic series and I highly recommend it.

This was a great start to the Phoenix Force Series. I really enjoyed getting to see how Claire set it up and how she went about recruiting each member and getting information on each one, how she handled each interaction differently. She seems like a super interesting character as do all of the other women. I think this is going to be such a fierce series full of strong, independent and amazing women. I can’t wait to get stuck into Claire’s book.

What a prequel to this series. This book alone was outstanding and if the rest are anything like this one they will be fantastic. What a team of bad**s women. I am so excited to read each book. Most definitely recommend.
