n this delightful tale, the "Big Day" has arrived and Fiona and Nathan are truly getting married!.. However, Nathan and Fiona have a secret only they know.
Fiona, nervous about meeting her mysterious mother-in-law, is called upon to pick her up from the airport since Nathan is called in on a case. Fiona knows almost nothing about her mother-in-law but has seen her picture at Nathan's apartment. Her picture did not do her justice. She looks much younger than her age. Nathan spends the evening with his mother. Before his vacation time can start the next day, he discovers the new case involves the wedding planner and his new brother-in-law, which he is compelled to solve or his wedding may not happen. Meanwhile. Nathan's mother and Fiona are "thrown into" a terrifying flight! Will they make it back in time for the wedding?
C.S McDonald has once again created a suspenseful romantic mystery with plenty of humor. The reader/listener is sure to be "on the edge of his/her seat" with this enticing tale.
The new characters are entertaining and feel very real. The scenes are described in a way the reader is sure to feel a part of. The suspense lasts until the very end of the story. This book of the series ending is complete, yet, once again, ends with a perfect lead-in to the next book of the series.

*This book was gifted me with no pressure for a positive review. This is my honest review.

I was granted complimentary audiobook access to Matrimony, Mayhem, and Murder by C.S. McDonald as part of my participation in a blog tour for this title with iRead Book Tours. Thank you to all involved in affording me this opportunity! My thoughts are my own and my review is honest.

The day of Fiona's and Nathan's (second, not-so-elopey) wedding is drawing near and their parents have descended upon them. Fiona's parents come bearing 22 Yorkshire Terriers (5, actually, but Fiona exaggerates.) Nathan's mother comes with a peculiar necklace and some very Russian shadows. Oh, and Fiona's brother Chad is mistakenly arrested for murder! Will it all work out? Will the wedding go off without a hitch?

It turns out Nathan comes by his detective skills honestly! Err, well, perhaps "honestly" isn't the word. I know I've rated every book in this series 4 or 5 stars so far and raved that "this one is the best yet" but really, this one is the best yet. We get a little 007, visit England, tiptoe around family secrets on both sides of the Fiona-Nathan marriage, and overall just have a lot of fun. Once again I felt like I was one step ahead of Fiona most of the way, but I don't mind that in a cozy mystery. They're supposed to be fun and relaxing, right? McDonald does a great job of handing the reader just enough information to let you solve the mystery before Fiona does in a way that doesn't seem dumbed down or presented on a silver platter. The pieces are there to fit together if you choose, and it's no thousand-piece jigsaw, but if you want to suspend your critical thinker and be surprised you have that option as well.

I do wish this one already had an audiobook available by the time I signed on to the tour because it just doesn't seem right listening to the dialogue in my own inner reading voice and not Maren's, but it was an easy, quick read none the less. Thanks again for the opportunity!

As always, I'd like to comment that all of McDonald's cozy mysteries stand alone quite well and you don't absolutely have to read each series in order, but with each series, I do strongly recommend reading the first book first so that you can get all the character backstory and world-building details needed in a first book and meet these characters as they were meant to be introduced.

Book Synopsis:
The venue is set, invitations sent, and the flowers ordered. It’s almost time for Fiona and Nathan to get married…again. What could possibly go wrong? Nothing…well, until the wedding planner is found dead. Then the woman Fiona has never met shows up--Nathan’s enigmatic mom, Rita Landry. Looks like Fiona’s perfectly planned matrimony has morphed into mayhem and murder!

You’re formally invited to Fiona and Nathan’s wedding. Question is: Will the wedding happen?

Book Review:
A quick, cozy mystery that helped pass a snowy day. Fiona & Nathan have secretly married; and now it’s time to pull off the big day. There are some twists and turns along the way – for example, Fiona has never met Nathan’s mother – Rita. Will they get along? Will Rita approve? Will Fiona make a fool of herself and drive her mother-in-law away? To add to that, Fiona’s brother Chad is DATING her wedding planner Kristen! The night of the big family dinner ends in an argument between them, leaving Fiona wondering if her wedding is going to happen.

When her wedding planner winds up murdered with her brother holding the murder weapon, it looks as though Fiona is going to have to delay her ceremony at the very least. With Nathan being close to the victim, he’s removed from the case “officially” though he is allowed to sit in on Chad’s interrogation. What follows is an entertaining story with enough twists to keep you guessing and enough humor to keep you giggling.

Even though I hadn’t read the other Fiona Quinn mysteries, I don’t feel like it’s required – but now I’m going back to the beginning because I want to know more.

Thanks to @iReadBookTours, CS McDonald for an Advanced Copy of this book in exchange for participation in this iReadBook Tour, and my honest review.

The Quick Review:

Today I’m featuring another Fiona Quinn Mystery. If you thought you knew wedding troubles, I doubt they can compare to poor Fiona’s fiasco. An enigmatic mother-in-law, a mysterious necklace, fleeing the country pursued by sinister shady characters are just the beginning. Fiona never disappoints when it comes to madcap adventures.

The Plot:

C.S. McDonald knows how to weave a mystery. There is more intrigue in the first few pages than in most full novels. I don’t do spoilers in my reviews but we have a wedding that is redundant, a missing necklace belonging to the Queen of England, spies galore, and our intrepid amateur sleuth, Fiona up to her eyeballs in all of it.

The Pace:

As you might guess, the pace of this mystery is nonstop madcap chaos. That said, it isn’t difficult to keep everyone straight while reading. No note-taking is required.

The Characters:

Fiona Quinn is the star of the tale. However, her husband’s (to-be) mother Rita Landry is a close second. You are never quite sure what to believe when it comes to her wild antics. She could be anything from an exclusive dancer of the seven-veils to a triple agent up to no good. Nancy doesn’t let anything get in the way of protecting her children., Fiona and Chad. Nathan, Fiona’s significant other, is his usual overworked detective self, trying to stay ahead of the females in his life as well as the criminals. It’s a harrowing job, hence his addiction to mini Snickers bars. If you are looking for rogues, bit-players, and red herring characters, this story has plenty.

In Conclusion:

I highly recommend Matrimony, Mayhem, and Murder to all lovers of cozy mysteries. It’s over-the-top-fun and a very fast read. I always recommend reading a series in the order it was written. However, I didn’t follow my own rules for this book. I haven’t yet read several of the earlier books. I had no trouble following along. So, don’t let the fact that this is book ten sway you. Reading this one is a very enjoyable way to spend an evening.

Matrimony Mayhem and Murder is a Light Cozy Mystery. I enjoy easy-to-read mysteries. I grew up with a family loving t.v. mysteries like Murder She Wrote and The Father Dowling Mysteries--and grandparents who preferred the clean nature of young adult mysteries over adult novels for reading. Today, I still love finding a clean, cozy mystery series to read. I enjoy C.S. McDonald's writing style! She keeps the storyline moving as she develops and connects and quirky cast of characters and creative plot twists. Some of the scenes do challenge the imagination--so don't sit down expecting a realistic mystery drama. Instead, expect to smile and be entertained for a few hours as Fiona and the cast work through some chaos and mayhem to keep her wedding day on track.

Expect to Love the Characters in Matrimony Mayhem and Murder. If you have read the other books of the series--you know that the author likes to give readers a variety of characters--including the ghostly Grandma Ev. I admit I had some trouble pushing aside a need for a bit of realism at times as Rita's character took Fiona along on her part of the wedding week adventure. While it does challenge the imagination--it still entertained and made me smile all the way to the end.

Would I Recommend Matrimony Mayhem and Murder? If you like fun, clean, cozy mystery that you can share with tweens and teens--this is another excellent book from the Fiona Quinn series. The book is a stand-alone mystery, so do not worry if you haven't read the series' other books. The author does a great job filling readers in on essential details and past events. I enjoyed the book--and enjoyed watching Fiona and the crew find a resolution to the mystery pieces. If you want cozy mysteries with a bit of humor--I would definitely recommend this book and the other books of the series.

Oh…they didn’t.

They did. C.S McDonald blurbed the back of this book with a taunt to the infamous Murphy. My spouse has a neat saying; “Bad decisions make great stories.” And oh, boy! Is this a great story!

Matrimony. Mayhem, and Murder is the tenth Fiona Quinn book and has enough in common with my own wedding (and its disasters) that I couldn’t stop reading! Fiona gets to finally meet Nathan’s mother, Rita, who’s always been away traveling from place to place throughout their years of dating. Chad, Fiona’s brother, is having major relationship problems with his girlfriend Kristen, who happens to be Nathan and Fiona’s wedding planner! There is a dark SUV with a pair of burly Russians who are keeping an eye on Rita and her extravagant diamond necklace that she wears everywhere, and Nathan is going through mini Snickers bars at a rate that makes me worry for his health.

As these things do, everything starts to go downhill. Rita is actually a secret agent on a mission for British royalty, the Russians want the necklace that is her cargo; and a fellow agent is murdered and Chad is suspected of being the murderer! What follows turns a standard cozy mystery plot-line of a wedding into something out of James Bond! The necklace has been stolen, there are car chases, multi-person standoffs and Chad to exonerate. With breakneck twists and a pair of misplaced tourists, this book kept me guessing! Always looming in the background is the wedding date, and the fact that the necklace needs to be returned to Buckingham Palace.

I don’t want to spoil the ending because it is just ….. Chef's kiss!

I’d not read this series prior to this blog tour and I honestly can’t believe I’d missed out on this gem of a series. Each stands on its own, but links back to a narrative whole which is great if you like to binge-read.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from iRead Book Tours. I voluntarily chose to read and post an honest review.

It’s very common for some hiccups to occur in preparation for a wedding or even during the big event. However, no one could have foreseen the details unfolding before Nathan and Fiona got married for a second time.

First off, their wedding planner gets whacked, and Fiona’s brother is the prime suspect. You’d think that’s the worst event to happen, but that is just the beginning of the drama. A very important and expensive necklace has gone missing, two persistent Russian agents are following Nat’s mom around, and yet that’s still not all the drama.

C.S. McDonald has named this book appropriately because there was Matrimony. Mayhem, and Murder. There was also a meddlesome mom, aka Nancy, Fiona’s mom. If I’m ever in trouble, I want her in my corner. I want Rita (Nat’s mom) as well!

While the story does contain a murder, which is not a funny crime, C.S. McDonald included much humor in this story. I found Rita’s interaction with the Russian agents quite amusing. Fiona’s retelling of Chad’s “band performance” was also quite comical.

From beginning to end, I was entertained by Matrimony. Mayhem, and Murder. It’s a story I would proudly recommend others to read.

Matrimony Mayhem and Murder
A Fiona Quinn Mystery #10
By C.S. McDonald

Fiona Quinn and Detective Nathan Landry are about to tie the knot officially. They've been secretly married for a while now but now it's time for a big ta-do for their families.

To Fiona's relief she and Nathan's mom, Rita Landry hit it off from the start. And then it's time for the future in-laws to meet at a dinner at Fiona's house. And Nancy Quinn is determined to get Rita to spill any and all secrets of her life. For which Rita is well prepared - her profession has equipped her adequately.

But from there everything starts spinning out of control. The wedding planner is out of the picture and Chad (yep, Fiona's little brother) finds himself in a major, big-time mess. As Fiona would say YIKES. There's just one little problem Fiona finds herself on a plane leaving the good old US of A behind. Okay maybe two problems she's in handcuffs and there are just days until the wedding!

Will Nathan and Fiona make it to their big day? Or will murder and mayhem derail everything? This is one wedding you don't want to miss!

Matrimony Mayhem and Murder is the book you don't want to miss. The action isn't frantic but it is nonstop as each storyline progresses to the conclusion. As with all the Fiona Quinn books you can thoroughly enjoy it without having read the previous books - but once you've read one you'll want to enjoy the rest. This is a perfect read especially if you are cuddled up inside trying to avoid the winter's extreme cold.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion - all thoughts expressed are my own.

I have had the pleasure of reading several books from C S McDonald’s A Fiona Quinn Mysteries series and have enjoyed every one that I have read. I was happy to have the opportunity to read the tenth installment, Matrimony, Mayhem, and Murder. This one is probably my favorite of the series that I have read. It was so fun and entertaining from page one. It is always fun to catch up with Fiona and Nathan to see what they will get into. This time, their wedding planner wounds up dead and then the finger pointing of who did it puts more stress for the couple. The fantastic duo has to solve to see who is really responsible. Then throw in Nathan’s mother, Rita, with her own mystery to solve. This is one of those books that kept me left guessing until the end. I love the sprinkled in humor that gave me some laugh out loud moments. Such a delight to read.

I am giving Matrimony, Mayhem, and Murder a very well deserved five plus stars. I recommend it for readers who enjoy reading fun and cozy mysteries. I will most definitely be looking forward to the other books of A Fiona Quinn Mysteries series I have yet to read to see what else had happened in those.

I received a digital copy of Matrimony, Mayhem, and Murder from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

Can you imagine?! Your wedding is supposed to happen this coming weekend. Everything is set and ready but you have not met your soon-to-be Mother-n-law. As a matter of fact, you know very little about the woman except that she is never available. What does she do for a living that takes her around the world? Should you be nervous about meeting her or does it not matter when she is never around? I would be so nervous and given how much her son adores her I suspect you would be too.

But she does show up and is really enthusiastic about the wedding, but what the heck is that huge diamond necklace she is wearing? Who are those two men that keep following her around and are they speaking Russian?

McDonald has written a very delightful mystery of murder and mayhem. It is fast-paced, considering the events take place within one week and include a trip to London. It is edgy because who is the killer and why do the clues not connect? The characters are simply terrific, my favorite being the two Russian spies who end up saving the day twice. Fiona, the main character is awesome as a cute, sweet kindergarten teacher who, because of the skills needed to work 7 hours a day with twenty-five - 5-year-olds, can match wits with anyone and remain calm. This is just a fun, cozy read that will make you laugh out loud and not be able to put the book down. Enjoy the read!

Well, I am a little late into the Fiona Quinn Mystery series, but that did not stop my enjoyment of this installment of the series. Nathan and Fiona are planning a wedding, even though they are secretly married, to appease her mother. Well, everything is going smoothly until the family starts arriving.

Nathan's mother, Rita, is an enigma to Fiona. Nathan has never really talked about her or her travels, and Fiona's own mother doesn't believe she even exists. But she does and boy does she have a backstory. Not only that but her arrival to her son's wedding brings a bit of trouble that pulls in Fiona's family, a murder, and an international mystery to this already busy wedding week.

After teaming up with her mother-in-law and finding herself in quite a pickle, Fiona might now just miss her own wedding which will not please her mother at all.

I enjoyed this fast paced, family oriented, and crazy whirlwind of a cozy mystery. I hope to catch up sometime with the rest of the series and I certainly look forward to more of this author's work now that she is on my reading radar.

I was provided a copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

A Fiona Quinn mystery. Yey not finished the adventure of Nathan and Fiona yet. I completely forgot that they were married and loved the welcome of Nathan’s secret agents mother. Like all of these book they’re cosy and mysterious and contain a beautiful item in this case a very expensive necklace. I loved the Russian wording in this too making it a bit different although I don’t think I could pronounce what was being said. The murder in this one is so unexpected.

I don’t think I will ever get fed up of Nathan and his mini snickers. As the murder investigation takes place it only gets more crazy. Fiona must have some serious belief in her mother in law. I thought this was was really interesting in comparison to the others. Would the wedding go ahead? Would Fiona get back from London? These questions excited me so much. As much as I love the audios I also enjoy reading them.

They’re extremely fast paced, the short chapters are really easy to stick with. The conversations between the characters flow really well. As much as it’s a murder investigation down to the queens jewels it’s so cosy it’s unbelievable. So enjoyable to sit down with a glass of wine and embrace the adventure of Fiona and Nathan. I wonder what else the author will have in store for this beautiful pair?

I chose to listen to this book after receiving a free audio copy from iRead Book Tours. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.

Fiona Quinn is about to get married (again) when she finally meets her mother-in-law. Rita Landry is quite a woman, and she and Fiona end up having to fly out of the country to get away from Russian agents. Fiona takes everything in stride, though, and she and Rita get along well. But will they make it back in time for the wedding?

In the meantime, Fiona’s wedding planner has been murdered! Will Nathan’s partner be able to solve that case while she’s out of town?

This is my favorite Fiona Quinn cozy mystery so far. Yes, there’s a murder, but the characters are colorful and there’s a lot of humor, so it’s a fun read rather than a serious one.

The narrator’s voice takes a little getting used to. It’s not as soothing as some of the audiobook voices I’ve heard, but now that I have listened to a few of these, I’m used to it, and it’s like listening to an old friend. Her timing and inflection were very good.

I recommend the Fiona Quinn mysteries, especially this one, which does stand alone. Time for me to start on the next one, Deep Blue Murder!

Author C.S. McDonald is a prolific author with many books published, but at this moment her Fiona Quinn cozy mystery series is definitely one of my current favorites. In Matrimony, Mayhem, and Murder, Fiona and Nathan are home from the cruise where they secretly wed - not even their families know. They are only days away from their "official" ceremony. As their families are arrive, chaos quickly follows.

Nathan's mother Rita is unexpected and definitely a woman of mystery. Fiona's mother is a force of nature not easily appeased. Then Fiona's wedding planner announces she won't be there for the wedding day, causing no end of stress. Her brother is dating the wedding planner so they have a huge fight. When the wedding planner is found dead with her throat cut, her brother becomes the lead suspect. Well he WAS found covered in blood holding the knife. From here we have intrigue, robbery, spies and a trip to England with Fiona in hand cuffs.

Matrimony, Mayhem, and Murder offers a wild, crazy plot that is fun to read, with enough twists and turns to keep the reader guessing.

Matrimony, Mayhem, and Murder is the perfect title for this newest Fiona Quinn mystery. Don’t count on things to go smoothly with Fiona’s upcoming special day. If it can possibly go awry, it will, and does, and that makes for an entertaining, page-turning story. There’s so much going on that it’s nearly impossible to try to summarize it.

It takes no time at all for the mayhem to begin, when Fiona meets Nathan’s mother for the first time. And that’s where the mystery begins as well. There’s drama with a mysterious necklace, a murder, and some shadowy Russians, but there is plenty of fun and entertaining humor as well.

Don’t plan on reading a bit at a time or a chapter before bed (as I thought I’d do) because the steady action and the short chapters urge you to read further. At 235 pages, it’s a quick read, but the plot is full, the characters are engaging, and the ending is oh-so-satisfying.

Fiona and Nathan are about to get married again. The first time they did it was in secret just because but now everything is public and the coming festivities promise to be joyous and all that they could wish for…until their wedding planner turns up dead. That’s almost as uncomfortable as Fiona’s first meeting her about to be official mother-in-law, a woman who could pluck the nerves of the most saintly person. Besides murder, Fiona and Nathan have to plumb the depths of mysterious and forbidding tough guys and a beautiful necklace in Rita’s possession, not to mention Fiona’s own formidable mother, Nancy.

The most likely murder suspect is Fiona’s brother because the wedding planner was his girlfriend and he did have the knife on him and was practically covered in blood so, naturally, Nathan and Fiona set out to find the real killer. Along the way, the reader is treated to plenty of humor, lots of drama and an intriguing puzzle to solve. Mayhem indeed!

I’ve read a few of the other Fiona Quinn Mysteries, but this one is definitely my favorite. The author has created a story with a little bit of everything….just a great mix. Fiona is awaiting her upcoming marriage, but this book has every twist and turn possible. When Fiona meets her new mother-in-law, she has no idea what is coming! Rita is a unique lady and Fiona finds out the hard way that there is much danger in her future.

This book has a lot of danger: murder, spies, more spies, and a lot of humor. The suspense is just perfect and the book is hard to put down. It’s a fairly short read, so that it makes a great book for a cold weekend. If you want to read a book that leaves you with a real smile, this is one that you’ll love.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

For fans of the couple Fiona and Nathan, this one's a super thrilling joy ride! Having gotten married towards the end of their Bon Voyage to Murder adventure (two books earlier), Fiona and Nathan decide to celebrate the union to turn the low-key ceremony into a proper wedding with their families. But where Fiona and Nathan are present, mysteries always seem to follow! With just less than a week to go for the wedding, they are both slammed with the news of a murder that leaves everyone stumped. With many suspects lined up, Fiona and Nathan let their sleuthing instincts take over, to give us a fun-filled, funny, pacy, and racy thriller. This book turned out to be a treat to read, and my thanks to McDonald, the publishers McWriter Books, and Lauren of iRead BT for gifting me with a copy of this book.

I was so excited to see this next story in the Fiona Quinn series! Finally…FINALLY…we get to see Fiona and Nathan tie the knot…hopefully!

I thought this was a wonderful story, and I loved all the twists and turns! Fiona’s wedding is filled with every possible thing that can go wrong, including the death of the wedding planner!

The plot in this one was really fun. As book 10 in the series, it still felt fresh and new, while continuing the character journeys of our main characters. You don’t have to read the previous books to pick this one up, but the rest of the series is quite fun, and I would recommend them!

I was provided a gifted copy of this book for free. I am leaving my review voluntarily.

Fiona and Nathan are getting married? Not! They are already married there families don't know that though. Fiona is picking up her mother in law from the airport as Nathan has a new case and Fiona is nervous to say the least as it is her first time meeting mother in law Rita. Fiona's mother Nancy and her father are also arriving with there 22 dog's(exaggerate much Fiona) there are only really 5 dog's! Before long the fun starts and there is a murder and Fiona's brother is the main suspect. I enjoyed the introduction of new characters in this one and they sure stand out especially Rita but I really liked her. I think this one had me laughing more than the previous books. A cozy mystery that I'm still smiling about.

This book was so much fun to read.
Fiona & Nathan's (official) wedding is finally closing in.
We finally meet Nathan's mom.
Her secrets are even wilder than I had thought.
Fiona's wedding planner & her brother Brad's girlfriend decides to go out of town all of the sudden and not be there for the wedding.
When Brad goes to talk to at her job, he finds her body covered in blood.
And now Brad is the ONLY serious suspect.
It's now three days before the wedding, and Nathan's mom and Fiona find themselves on a plane to England. It turns out Fiona is quite the driver, even on roads that go in the wrong direction.
This all ends up with the two ladies getting a trip to the Palace in London.

There are developed characters, lots of humor, several twists, and a good bit of Hijinx

Quirky fun book

Having just finished reading this book, I can say it's quirky and a lot of fun. Combine an upcoming wedding of two people already secretly married, a murder of a secret agent, a mother in law who's also a secret agent, one diamond necklace belonging to Queen Elizabeth II, meeting the Duchess of Cambridge, an air Marshal two Russian agents, a table full of cut flowers waiting to be made into flower arrangements and bouquets, and only one person knowing how to do so, along with more agents, staff, hotel rooms, flights, and very little sleep makes for a rambunctious and hilarious novel. Five stars.

It is finally time for Fiona and Nathan to get married but will it really happen or will something or someone stop it. We learn all this in this wonderful romp from Pittsburgh to London and back to Pittsburg. I really liked Nathan’s mother and hope she will be in more stories. Rita and the men following her are a great edition to these books. This book takes us on a roller coaster ride that is lots of fun. I received a copy of this book from ireadbooktour for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

Loved Matrimony, Mayhem, and Murder!! Fiona and Detective Landry have a lot of help planning their wedding while finding a stolen diamond necklace belonging to the Queen of England. While I love Fiona and Landry, I really like Landry's mother. She was a hoot and reminded me of some of the characters Helen Mirren has played. This is a fun whodunit, with a few twists and turns and two loveable, goofy Russian spies. Looking forward to reading another chapter in this series.

Long time coming…

…but was well worth the wait. After reading book 9, I wasn’t sure if there was going to be a book 10 but was very pleased and surprised when it appeared in Kindle. Love all the additional characters, as well as the twists and turns in the story. I started reading and had to force myself to stop at 3:30 a.m. I hope there are more books coming.😉

Small publishing company so noticeable spelling and grammar errors. I still enjoyed the story. A bit surprised who the bad guy was in the story. I would read another Fiona Quinn story.
