Love, was published in June 2017.

Work aside, Fearne is a mother of 2 and continues to find time to support a range of charities with seemingly no challenge too big for her, whether it be climbing Kilimanjaro for Comic Relief, or trekking the Inca Trail for Breast Cancer Care. I’ve read all of Fearne Cotton’s books and I think that this is probably my favourite. The book is presented in an easy to read style while introducing us to things that are, truly, Bigger Than Us…… spirituality, faith, reiki, shamanism, mediumship, manifesting, and Enneagram numbers among other. I found the book enlightening, thought provoking and beautiful. Fearne has inspired me to live my life in a more thankful way, looking for the positives in life and focusing on love. I have always been drawn to alternate ways, but feel inspired to live a more spiritual, non religious, way.
It is refreshing to read that someone in the public eye suffers from the same self doubt and negativity that I have suffered from all of my life, however, from this day on, I vow to change my thinking and work towards a more peaceful life. Thank you Fearne for writing such an inspirational book. Right, I’m off to find out my Enneagram number! Highly recommended.

In a modern world full of stress, anxiety and the pressure to constantly be doing more, this book is essential reading.

Featuring interviews covering topics such as meditation, prayer, ritual, the enneagram and more, Fearne embarks on a journey to find peace, calm and connection. I indentified with her search for peace and contentment and empathised with her mental health struggles. Her passion for the subjects covered is evident and I loved her enthusiasm and open mindedness.

Even now, a couple of days after I finished reading, I'm still thinking about several of the topics and discussions. It's a book I know I'll definitely go back to when I'm feeling lost or need to destress.

Enlightening, thought provoking, comforting and soothing - Better Than Us is an essential read!

In my quest to explore my own spirituality a bit more lately, I picked up this book. I learned a lot from Fearne & loved her honesty as she trialled different practices for her own exploration. There is some good stuff I’m going to take into my daily life, a few reminders of habits I’ve got out of that were so good for my spiritual wellbeing, but there’s some stuff in this book I just can’t buy in to. Regardless, I learned a lot & find it interesting learning about other people’s beliefs, too.

**Listened to the audio book, and read along to electronic copy**

I bloody love Fearne Cotton, and this definitely one of the books I was most looking forward to reading in 2022. I had preordered the audio book as soon as I was able. I was excited to read a book about all of my favourite things, and all things spirituality. I was excited to learn more!

This book covered a great deal, but unfortunately it didn't go into much detail - this left me a little disappointed. Cotton had interviewed some of her favourite practitioners in each field - but these were people she has previously had on her 'Happy Place' podcast, so I felt a bit short changed. I listen to the podcast, and love the podcast but I wasn't expecting half of this book to almost be a transcript of the podcast.

Overall I liked the book, and liked the content, but I was just left wanting more! I wanted Fearne Cotton to delve deeper. I liked the way she incorporated her own personal experiences, but I just wish the book had more pages and could have told us more about each of the different methods.
It was OK, I enjoyed it, but wanted more - so couldn't give this a higher star rating.

I listened to this book on audible whilst following the paperback book at the same time. Overall this book is very thought provoking. Fearne, covers a whole variety of different spiritual practices. In particular I thoroughly enjoyed the ennegram, medium and intuition sections. I could relate to a lot of the things mentioned throughout the book, in particular the being too hard on myself, social media and my overuse of it, and the ways I seek validation. I have always had a deep interest in all things spiritual and whilst I dont and haven't used all of the spiritual practices discussed in this book it has still been interesting to explore other spiritual practices and beliefs from around the world, and it has inspired me to try some new techniques and practices too. A very good thought provoking book. I normally sell or donate books once I've read them once (unless sentimental etc), but this book is one that I know I will definitely keep and re-visit/re-read.

Finished reading Wednesday 8th February 2023.

This is a very interesting book which explores concepts such as the soul (energy, presence- insert a word that feels comfortable), prayer and ceremony in a non-religious and modern framework. I am definitely team sceptic however, I think that most people will take something from this book and find a passage that resonates with them. In a modern world where we are constantly rushing around and stressed I think that there is much to be learned from our ancestors who conducted their lives in a much more thoughtful way surrounded by positive intention. There are parts of this book that are a bit "out there" for me yet, although I didn't believe in them they were not unpleasant to read. I think that this is a book that I will refer back to reading only specific sections that spoke to me first time around. Whether any of is true or not we need more positivity and conscience in the western world and therefore going back to nature and basics cannot be a bad thing.

People of today are addled with stresses, anxieties, hustle culture and relentless social media. Finding pockets of peace and calm in such a busy world is so difficult, never mind finding time to connect to yourself and listen to what your mind has been trying to tell you. I know for me, if I don’t feel like I’m being productive, I feel stressed. I thrive on achievement but is that what I really need?

This book will help you gently analyse yourself and your thoughts through Fearnes words as she analyses her own life and experiences. It was so lovely to read Fearnes thoughts and stories, her journeys to meditation and trying to find time for herself within such busy and turbulent times. I definitely found myself in her words and truly understood and empathised with a lot.

Understanding your emotions, what you need and learning to live in the present are such fundamentals. They’re so important and this book again, delivered on this front.

Fearne also talks to a bunch of fab people all in their respective fields and I loved reading her interviews with them.

Whether you believe in the supernatural or not, are avidly against it or a true believer, this book is still for everyone. As a scientist, I did struggle with some aspects as I am a super critical and empirical evidence based person so it can be hard to get out of my own head at times. My own fault entirely!

This was such a soothing read and one that I really enjoyed cosying up in bed and reading. It felt so validating and real, and was really enlightening. A definite recommend if you find yourself needing to find you again and learn to make space for yourself. A true gem of a book!

Thank you to the author and publishers via NetGalley for this book in return for my honest thoughts and review.

‘This book’s purpose is to get us all looking at the concepts that are bigger than our own individual thoughts.’ - Fearne Cotton, Bigger Than Us

I very quickly got the sense that this book is a real passion project for Fearne Cotton and it’s packed full of enthusiasm and the desire to learn more from those who she speaks to as part of ‘Bigger than Us.’ I went into reading this book with a completely open mind and many of the subjects in this book are not ones that I have delved deep into before. Fearne’s approach is to be inquisitive and gather more information for herself and the reader.

I found myself being much more intrigued about things like Enneagrams (which I hadn’t heard of before and have since explored further) and signs. I haven’t read ‘The Secret’ but the author is interviewed and so fans of Rhonda Byrne will no doubt enjoy their discussion.

Most of all for me I just really enjoying curling up and reading a few pages each evening. I believe the beauty of this book is that you can cherry pick what interests you and decide whether you want to explore further. I found it a really interesting read created with pure enthusiasm for the subject.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

This book is life changing, let me tell you I’ve gone through so many emotions and a lot of self discovery.

There are many different ways we can connect with ourselves some traditional ways include meditation, yoga, astrology, crystal healing and prayer (not just religious). However other less obvious ways include having a cup of tea, listening to music, exercise, getting out in nature, crafting, cleaning, practicing gratitude, posting positive content on socials and other great habits. We all have our own ways of finding contentment in the world. However embarking on a new idea can sometimes give us a sense of being an imposter because we don’t recognise ourselves in that particular way, let me tell you, you can be anything … you don’t have to be an expert to start something new!

Another thing I think is worth mentioning is rituals, now I’m sure many of you are thinking you don’t take part in rituals but I bet your wrong. Have you ever thrown confetti at a wedding? Blown out candles on your birthday? Put a tree up at Christmas? Counted down to New Years? These are all symbolic moments of gratitude and love that we take for granted but that we all do… without questioning why. However they’re all old traditions. What if we put simple easy traditions into our everyday? Like lighting a candle?

Now I don’t use all of the above methods, some don’t align with my beliefs and I think it’s private to each person. However one belief I do have that I’ll share with you is I don’t think it matters how much “evidential proof” we have of any of these things to be a justifiable coping mechanism. Wherever you find comfort and happiness in life… be it religion, reading, crystals, meditation, yoga, astrology or as simple as your morning cuppa or a lit candle… embrace it. …Here’s the thing we can be different, have different beliefs and Co-exist, that is possible and it’s beautiful … mind blowing I know!

I could ramble all day about this one but ultimately it’s a Thank you for a fabulous book @fearnecotton ❤️ I love this quote that life is “so big that we take for granted and miss the everyday magic happening all around”

I think this book may have changed my life.
Or at least helped me see a clearer way through things.

I've historically been a bit of a cynic about all things mystical but recently I've not been very well and this book called out to me from the bookshelf of a supermarket and on an impulse I picked it up.

I haven't listened to Fearne's Happy Place podcast before. I don't follow her on social media either. I only say this so you understand that this review is coming from a place of sincerity and not fandom. In the book Fearne (who has always been massively open to all things mystical) discusses topics like Shamanism, meditation, The Law of Attraction, energy, astrology, prayer (not religious prayer unless you want it to be), ritual, intuition and more. She brakes these topics down inviting readers to understand her history with each of them before inviting a specialist on each subject to have a bit of a free flowing chat with her. Along the way, each section offers the reader entry-level ways on how to make each topic a part of your life and how it could help.

Having started the book sitting at the top of 'cynic rock' I can say I'm slowly starting to come down the mountain. I've finished the book with lots of topics I now want to go away and explore further, and I started doing a couple of the things Fearne discussed in the book as I was reading it. I can already feel the meditation making a difference and the chapters on energy and prayer have piqued my interest.

Fearne's love and more importantly belief for the spiritual and mystical is obvious from the outset of this book and she makes a really strong case for why all of is should invite a little bit of belief into our own lives, too.

I enjoyed this book and there were quite a few take homes from it - I think it’s my favourite of all of her books that I’ve read so far.

Fearne talks about her own journey, blocks, vulnerabilities and life-limiting beliefs and how she’s tackled these or found tools to help her to connect with the universe and a more spiritual side that brings more peace and harmony to life than the constant need to rush through the world at the speed of life can ever bring. The writing is honest and authentic and points in the direction of other areas of exploration for the reader should they choose. I didn’t connect with everything, but then I never do - for example, I will look at Ronda Byrne’s books now, regarding theLaw of Attraction, but was less interested in the connection with mediums.

A good read to see who areas of connection or spirituality resonates. Also a huge advocate of spending time in nature, which is something I’m finding is resonating with me a lot in the last few years.

This book is definitely worth reading or adding to any collection for someone exploring themselves, self-care, spirituality, connection or just finding themselves asking questions about the way we live in the modern world as it will provide areas for further exploration for the individual - although, that could be my ego talking :-)

This book was exactly what I needed in this moment in my life and if that doesn’t express there is something bigger then us then I don’t know what does.

Fearne Cotton is an excellent writer, as an avid listener to her Happy Place Podcast her voice rang through my head through reading this. A book filled with honesty and vulnerability that makes me personally feel seen and understood. My neurodivergent brain loved the small headings between chapters and the mixture of prose to conversations to bullet points.

I hadn’t heard of many of the people that Fearne interviewed for this book and so it was refreshing to discover new people within the spiritual world. One of the biggest things I have taken away from this is prayer. Growing up in a Church of England school, I always thought prayer belonged to religion and I never really felt any connection with Christianity. Since reading this book I have been praying daily to the higher power and it has been incredibly healing already. Talking out loud and trusting something bigger then us is listening, without judgement has opened my mind.

As a fellow Virgo and enneagram 2, Fearne is someone I relate to quite naturally. I would recommend this to anyone who wishes they had a belief but doesn’t connect with any particular religion and to any intrigued by spirituality. It is a beautiful book.

Bigger Than Us by Fearne Cotton is a self-help book that explores the power of spirituality to find meaning in a messy world. Cotton weaves her own journey of discovery with the insights of renowned spiritualists and thought leaders, offering readers a variety of tools and practices to help them connect with their own inner wisdom.

The book is divided into three parts: "Finding Our Way," "Connecting with the Bigger Picture," and "Living a Spiritual Life." In the first part, Cotton discusses the importance of finding our own path and trusting our intuition. She also explores the concepts of energy, manifestation, and ritual.

The second part of the book focuses on our connection to the larger world. Cotton discusses the power of nature, the importance of community, and the role of faith. She also offers advice on how to connect with our ancestors and the spirit world.

The third part of the book provides practical guidance on how to live a more spiritual life. Cotton offers advice on meditation, yoga, and other mindfulness practices. She also discusses the importance of self-care and compassion.

If you are looking for a book that can help you to connect with your spirituality and find meaning in your life, then Bigger Than Us is a great choice. It is a comprehensive and insightful book that offers readers a variety of tools and practices to help them on their journey.

I'd never heard of Fearne Cotton, although she does sound like the name of the race horse in Australia who was substituted for another horse in a dodgy scam, Fine Cotton.
And when I read this book I thought I would probably get more sense from the dodgy race horse.
This was just unmitigated tripe, moving from mystical clap trap to mystical codswallop.
From the rubbish of "The Secret" to other people waffling on about things ;like the woman who said oh I'm about taking prayer away from religion you don't have to pray to a person.
Who are you praying to then?
A tree! Apparently you can pray to a tree.
The universe? Apparently you can pray to the universe?
It was just one messy theory after another, that was never challenged.
I guarantee if you said here it is you have only one way to true life and that is by trusting in Jesus who died on the ross for your sins to bring yo into right relationship with God she would be challenging and arguing against it, but these clowns and charlatans she had, no challenge, just accepting their mystical nonsense.
Well, it was good for a laugh anyway, not where the author expected, but you know you have to find something in a book, that was about it for this one though.

In her fourth book, Fearne Cotton explores that which is bigger than us. From meditation to mediums, there is something for everyone within whether you are a total sceptic, total believer or looking for something more.

I have read all of Fearne’s books and I think Bigger Than Us is my favourite. I feel like I will go back to this one when I am looking for something to bring me back to centre. As someone who battles with day to day anxiety, I could really relate to most of the subjects and how they could help people rise above our worries and stress. It is also beautifully written which makes reading this book a pure joy.

A criticism? I found myself disengaging within certain sections, but I think this is more to do with my state of mind rather than the book itself. Everyone will relate to each subject in different ways.

So, I love Fearne and I can’t wait to continue following her love of life and finding the bigger picture. Also, near the end she mentions listening to the Fleet Foxes album ‘Shore’ which I went onto listen to and loved. If you choose to read Bigger Than Us, please listen to this album while doing so.

I'm pleased I decided to read this slowly; I enjoyed it, but there was so much to take in I would have been totally overwhelmed if I read it in one go.
This is my favourite of Fearne's books so far - not only because she signed it for me (😁), but also because it gave me insight to so many different aspects of spirituality that I've been wondering about for a long time. Some of it I still struggle to connect with (e.g. the near death experience guy, the clairvoyant, the ideas of ritual+prayer+meditation - it's too much!), but I am completely fascinated by the idea of there being something 'bigger than us'.
I especially appreciated the section on enneagram types, 'cause boy has that helped me understand what's going on in my head.

Overall, the thing I liked best is that Fearne doesn't try to find the single hidden truth of the universe; she's just curious about the world and wants to spread the message that the beauty of life is in our connection with it, while at the same time accepting that we will never be able to truly understand it. I also love that I could read the whole thing with her voice clear in my head, guiding me through & often making me smile :)

📖 📚 Book Review: Bigger Than Us by @fearnecotton 📚 📖

At the risk of being a total fangirl, I’ve loved everything Fearne Cotton has put out to date, but Bigger Than Us has inspired and motivated me more than anything else.

I needed this book so much, without even realising. I’ve always felt that I’m spiritual rather than religious, and so much of this book gave me goosebumps and eureka moments. I felt as though Fearne (I can call her that, cos in another life we’re clearly besties) has written this for me- for who I was before I let adulthood and booze take over, and for who I have been finding again this past year.

If you want to be educated and enlightened, please read this! Have an open mind, and stop resisting that there’s so much out there with more power than us. So much out there is simply bigger than us.

A definite ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me.

Over recent years, Fearne Cotton has refocussed her career and life to spend more time looking at connection rather than living a life of celebrity glitz and glamour. This book is the result of Fearne exploring the more spiritual things - those things that are "bigger than us".

I approached with this book with some trepidation and scepticism. I like Fearne and often listen to her podcast (Happy Place), but I'm not a spiritual person. However, I needn't have feared. Fearne, with her usual kindness and sensitivity, takes the reader through various ideas, conversations and experiences to try and open up a wider realm to people. But this is no hard sell and Fearne clearly knows that some of the things she talks about might be too "woo woo" for some.

This book didn't persuade me of anything, but it wasn't really written for that purpose. However, it did give me insight into why some people find astrology, prayer and shamans (amongst other things) meaningful and I hope has given me more empathy for people who have a more spiritual approach to life.

A very handy book to read at any given time. But right now, the perfect medicine. One of my new years resolutions was to 'slow down. Be calmer' yada, yada. This book with its many chapters of ritual, medication, being a vessel for what's around you is just what I needed to read. Much like Fearne I aren't the best at being kind to myself at all times so her words often strike a chord, at times you feel a little too related to the words but that's the beauty & power that her voice has, to make you think so.

I grew up watching Fearne on Smile, Top of the pops and when I was older...celebrity juice. As I've become a young adult (mid, mid/late twenties) her moving & equally compelling work with 'Happy Place' has stuck with me. I struggle to think of many public figures as human, humble & real as Fearne. I'm grateful that she does what she does.

Read this!
