Starting with Chapter 14: Rhys brings Feyre to Velaris after saving her from Tamlin's prison in the Spring Court. His inner circle crashes their brief landing in Rhys's townhouse, sending Feyre upstairs. Downstairs, Rhys chats with his family and learns about another temple raid from Azriel.
The idea that Rhys is almost clueless about Feyre’s feelings and thoughts gives it a wonderful touch. Somehow, when reading the original, I always had the imagination that Rhys was picking up more from her. But when you imagine that he is almost unaware of her, his understanding of Feyre is all the more wonderful. Awww I'm floored by this.
I just wanted to touch her, to bring her close and hold her until it was okay or less not okay, if such a thing existed anymore. 🥺😢🤧 To hold her. To keep her safe. To live when she lived and die when she died. 😭😩😪
This part is about Feyre's first days in Velaris and includes one of my favorite scenes at the very end when Feyre is winnowing for the first time.
I solidified on the earth and spun, Feyre was right in front of me appearing out of her own mist - winnowing with her powers cascading around her in a frenzy. It was the most beautiful, wonderful vision I’d ever seen. And I loved every second of it that she let me witness before her body crushed mine and we landed in a heap of tangled limbs and grinning snarls on the snow. 😍😍😍
this novella kinda made rhys seem more like an asshole at times, so it’s kind of interesting seeing how the author perceived him vs how i did when reading acomaf. of course there are sooo many sweet moments with him and how much he cares for feyre. he does seem a little colder in this interpretation than i would have expected overall
it was definitely good! i like seeing it based on rhys’s pov for a fresh perspective. i enjoyed the background of him having feyre hunt for the ring, etc.
there were some really good quotes in this one that i highlighted! definitely excited to see where the next takes the story

I enjoyed this one better than part one, but it does still feel like some of the thoughts could be developed a little bit better. It seems like there are a lot more scenes in this one where Feyre is not around. And because of that, they do not appear in the original book and so they are completely new scenes to the story. I really enjoy these new scenes because it kind of just fills in the holes from the original author, who just left us kind of an unspoken understanding.
again, wish it had more insight into some of the lines but i don’t fully know what we actually know and what hasn’t been said in the series yet so maybe im being wrongly critical. i think there was one non cannon scene in this entire subsection and i enjoyed it! hope there is some more to come
feel weird about rating these for some reason maybe because so much of the text is directly copied.
”Soul divine, I wanted her. Wanted more than just a hand to hold in the dark, more than just a touch to push forward through the crowded passageways of death and decay. Wanted to knit our beings together until we were one and she never cried again for lack of light or love or sun. I can be your Light, I thought. Though I am the Night, let me be your Moon. I can reflect the Sun. Let me find the light for you, Feyre.”
Loved to read about Rhysand’s POV but felt like he was too passionate (almost obsessed) over Feyre. Not sure if I like this overzealous trait of him that we don’t particular see in the original series
All of these are so INCREDIBLY amazing! 🤩 Love that she has her shield up so Rhys has absolutely no idea what she’s thinking and he’s super anxious about losing her. Like anything he could do could potentially lose Feyre forever. ♾️
