This was quite fun. I'm a sucker for court intrigue novels even though they typically involve rather ugly tropes, like othering of non-Han Chinese, imperialism, racism etcetc.

Anyway, I feel like the author is quite good at writing relationships because every couple was sooo cute. I wasn't as interested in the plot (and started skimming at 50%) but I was really there for the huge cast of characters, who were all really different and had their own stories and arcs. There were lots of funny moments, familial moments, and sweet moments as well. I'm quite interested now in the author's other webnovels.
