I am Maddox Henderson, a special agent with the FBI. As a member of the specially formed task force, my mission was to track a killer through the Appalachian Mountains with an experienced wilderness expert named Bruce Wayne. As we got to know one another on the treacherous mountain trails, we learned that neither of us had time for love. One would believe we used that as an excuse to hide our fear of commitment; however, there weren’t any doors to hide behind in the woods; there weren’t any telephones for distractions, but there were plenty of dangerous situations. We only had each other to rely on in emergencies, which caused us to become closer. Closer than we ever expected.

This book was ok…. I’ve read a lot better from this author. The female lead was a pain….. she caused the book to drag on and on unnecessarily……. She was so indecisive and wishy washy that I got fed up and started skipping pages just to finish the book….. it dragged on and on for no real reason when it could have been wrapped up chapters before…….this book wasn’t worth the read IMO….. it started of interesting and something just went wrong. My advice to Ms Lawson-Brown….bring back GDB Security or the Cleveland fire department series…….for me this book just wasn’t it!
Maddox is a FBI agent on a mission to catch a criminal on the Appalachian Trail. Bruce is a Wilderness worker sent with her to make sure she survives the elements. These two are opposites yet the same. Each has been hurt by someone they loved & trusted. As they walk the trails, eat by campfire & brave the weather they discover a mutual friendship leading to love. The path isn't easy there are misunderstandings & heartbreak . Yet eventually they both realize they are meant to be together. I truly enjoyed these characters & the HEA. Enjoy.
Maddox and Bruce’s story is a great read. Two career-driven people are placed together with a task to hunt down an escaped convict. Bruce is instantly attracted to Maddox, and Maddox feels some attraction toward her guide. Once they act on those feelings, there is no turning back, yet they're not moving forward either. Misunderstandings, betrayal, and doubts will factor into what keeps them part and what will bring them together.
