God knows all about you and still loves you. Unconditionally. Forever. And yet he still wants a deep, personal relationship with you! Can you believe it?! In fact, your relationship with God is intended to be a ‘oneness’ in which every thought, word, and action we have/take is filtered through him first. If that seems like a lot to take in, don’t feel bad. You aren’t alone. Since the days of the early Church people have been struggling to comprehend the depth of God’s love for us and his desire to be with us. On that note, the apostle, Paul, wrote these instructions in 1st Corinthians 10:31: “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” (ESV)
That’s not so difficult to understand, is it? It shouldn’t be. We understand the meaning of ‘whatever’ and ‘all’. Besides, don’t we want the same from our relationships? Would we want someone to be forced to like us? Or would we be happy in a marriage to a spouse we loved just a little bit? Of course not! So why, since we are created in the image of God would we expect him to expect anything less?Beginning and maintaining a relationship with God of this caliber is not something that happens overnight, though. But then you already know that don’t you? You know it is a process that transpires over time and because of a willingness on our part to desire, talk, listen, trust, see, and obey our Creator and Savior.
