Think About Christmas

Rate this book
This is NOT your typical devotional book! This book will point your mind in new directions. You will see familiar Bible passages in entirely new ways. You might have heard the Christmas story dozens of times but I promise you that you have not thought about these things.

This book will not make you feel better about yourself (or worse!). But it will get you to think more about the Lord. If the world seems to have lost its mind, what better way to reclaim your Christmas than to get your thoughts aligned.

Like Moses when he paused to look at the burning bush, what would you see if you took the time to rediscover your destiny?

Christmas can be a hectic time with lots of distractions. So why not carve a few minutes out of your day to focus your thoughts on the manger?

Did Mary and Joseph really stay in an inn? What exactly did the magi see in the sky that prompted them to make a five-hundred-mile journey across the desert? What are the backstories for the characters we often place in our nativity displays?

In this book, we will take a journey together to Bethlehem, Nazareth, and Jerusalem, pausing just long enough to recognize ourselves along the way. Instead of peace on earth, we’ll see a picture of family drama, chaos, and jealousy. The birth was messy. The child was in danger. Doubt and fear stalked the hearts and minds of those who dared to believe the Messiah had come.

Two thousand years have passed, but the world is still demanding an answer to a question: Is the manger a myth or a miracle? Take a month to strip away the commercialism and distractions to build your faith as you think about the real meaning of Christmas.

Potentially Life Changing!

What a blessing to come across this book in these weeks before Christmas! It is rich in information, scripture, insight, and anointing. With all of that, add that he is also a gifted writer who communicates simply, yet powerfully, the most profound truths. He weaves in historical facts and scripture to give context, which I love, and he does it in a simple, interesting way. Maybe the best thing about the book is that it challenges us to really think about Christmas in a deeper way. If we ponder the truths and insights presented here, and apply them, we can be changed, transformed. Just at least read the sample-- I think you will be drawn to read it all.

This is a new author to me, but I will be reading everything he has written or will write!

Very Interesting Eye Opening Read

I came across this book not knowing anything about it or the author. I read it slowly not wanting to make hasty decisions about it. It's sad in some ways that the Christmas events has been hijacked and accepted not just by the secular world but by many Christians as well by many of today's Christmas greeting cards, the nativities we purchase for placing in some special place in our homes and the depictions out of Hollywood. Not only does this book straighten out these false narratives it gives us a brief history lesson on what took place as these events unfolded.

Think About Christmas

This book is so well written. I started the book a few days after the 1st day of Advent as my morning devotional & finished on January 6, Epiphany. I learned things & was reminded of things I had forgotten, the important people, symbols, things that gave me pause & things to ponder throughout the day. This book brought me joy throughout the Advent.

A Thoughtful Look At What Christmas Is

In a world increasingly intent on taking God out of the picture of life that He created and what we enjoy, the author thoughtfully reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas, God with us. Jesus the hope of the worlf.

Enlightening

I have grown up in the church and in a devoted Christian family so I know a lot about Christmas, but I learned so much more from this book! The research and cultural information are very enlightening and fascinating. This book is certainly worth the read as are this authors other books.
