Reader, dreamer and frantic scribbler. I really do believe that love conquers all... and make terrible things for my characters to survive to prove it! (insert evil laugh here)
I love this series. I was a bit disappointed with book four, as it didn't seem as action packed as the previous three. I thought it would all be for a set up in book five...not really. Alyssa and Lor's adventure wasn't nearly as bad as any of the previous contestants. The final bit of the story, where they take out all the Snaughians was weak and needed a lot more "oomph". It was too easy. AND IF THAT WASN'T BAD ENOUGH... The Snaughian Empire completely gives up and backs away because the Great Snaugh's nephew was threatened?!? What about all the behind the scenes crap that had been hinted about?? What did the emperor mean when he said the Snaughian Empire would disappear in 100 years? What about the revolts that were hinted at? The ending should have been so much more epic! and it just wasn't....
Written in first person by AVA YORK, END GAME is the 5th and final book in the THE ALIEN GAMES series and switches between the perspectives of Lor of Zorberu and Alyssa of Texas. The series is set where 5 humans and 5 brutes pair up together to compete as contestants on Intergalactic Love Death Match, season 34, ran by a species known as the Snaghians. The first couple to make it to the Altar of Freedom - at the top of Central Mountain (which we discovered in the last book wasn't even possible to get to without dying from lack of oxygen) - on the vast continent of Tikalc, on the planet Garglax II (what a mouthful), wins their freedom. It's basically an alien version of the hunger games.
Alyssa is Emily's sister from Texas. We've been waiting for her story since the beginning. She was abducted then sold to the Snaghians with her sister, then separated and dropped off in the rain forest with Lor.
Lor is a Zorberu who was captured by the Snaghians at Fogslef VII and tortured and experimented on until they dropped him into the competition. Zorberuvians are psychic beings, with dark silver skin and horns. Lor lived in hiding before being captured, secluded from being assaulted by the devious minds of others. Until he met Aly, who was not only pure of heart, thoughts and intentions, but was also psychic herself.
In the 1st book, Emily and Ralkor had the most fans, which supplied the pair with helpful gifts that made their journey super easy. In the second book, Charlotte and Jasek had a few fans, but also a lot of trolls, which sent the pair unhelpful gifts and pranks that taunted them. In the third book, Zelgor and Lena had ZERO fans. They were allowed to keep whatever items they had on their person as a way to help even the odds, since they received little to no help from fans along their journey. In the fourth book, Brannic and Sophia had the help from his Empire, who smuggled them weapons and other devices for the eventual takeover. In this book, Aly and Lor decided to stay on the planet and make a home for themselves, refusing to play the Snaghians sick game. Lor's telepathic ability revealed that the hosts had secrets they didn't want revealed. So an agreement was struck; Plabz and Kvorkt (the Snaughian hosts) would sneak the couple basic supplies and keep the cameras away from them in exchange for Lor staying out of their heads. As a result, not much footage was recorded and the producers deemed the two boring enough to be left alone, for the most part.
A herd of space monkeys chased the couple off a cliff, breaking Aly's femur bone in the fall. Lor put Aly in a mental coma, placing her in stasis away from the pain. She spent weeks trapped inside her own mind while her body slowly healed, until her sister finally found them. Lor visited Aly inside her head while keeping her locked away from the pain. As someone who had their femur broken after a horse fell on top of her, take it from experience, Aly was lucky to have someone around who could help her in that way. Instead of pain killers and a body cast, Aly was protected in a psychic bubble (which drained Lor of energy btw) until help arrived. Fishguts (who had its own interesting history and background) healed Aly, leaving her with her own set of Zorberuvian horns growing on her head.
First intercourse (that we were privied to) took place at the 73% mark. Again, the author dangled the cheese for so long that it molded. 🙄😒 The couple actually had sex twice before the 45% mark, but the author only elaborated on the oral sex portion of the encounter. We, as readers, did not get to experience their first time together, which was frustrating bullshit. 🤨😒 Aly wound up being Lor's destined bond mate, which connected their minds and souls and made sex an out-of-body experience. We were treated to only two separate sexual encounters, both of which left me unfulfilled. This was the worst book of the series in the romance department.
I'm back to loathing main characters again, and this time, it's Aly. For reasons already mentioned. Aly spent most the book in a coma, then whining about it. She walked her ass off a cliff, then had the audacity to complain that she was unconscious during a very painful experience. Gah! We the reader were denied their first lovemaking but were forced to read boring monotonous daily activities while Aly laid dormant healing. Yawn. 🥱
We got back the connection with the planet's wildlife in this book. Emily and Ralkor rescued and raised 2 cubs then captured and trained 2 deer as horses. Charlotte and Jasek adopted Fishguts, a carnivorous plant that saved their lives on numerous occasions, and also received a talking Jersey Milk Cow as a gift from their trolls. But Zelgor and Lena didn't add any pets to their story, and neither did Brannic and Sophia, which seemed to make the adventure more dull IMO. In this final book, Lor and Aly killed a bunch of chicken-raptors before finding their eggs in a nest. They took the gaxiss eggs with them, watching them hatch then raising them as part of their weird little psychic family.
After Aly was rescued and healed, the group executed their final plan. They flew to the top of Central Mountain and touched the Altar of Freedom as a group. Plabz and Kvorkt helped convince the producers to allow all ten to transport from the Altar, where they killed a bunch of Snaughians until they found Plabz and Kvorkt, where their secret was revealed. The group successfully took possession of the planet and started their settlement, where they invited all the displaced species to come and heal. Queen Emily ruled the planet, and everyone lived happily ever after.
Overall, I recommend the read. It was the perfect length (even could have been a hair shorter). It had the perfect amount of romance and adventure. I worried that the hunger games knockoff would lose my interest, but it kept my attention the entire way. I found a few things repetitive and unnecessary, but not enough to take anything away from the overall plot. I'm glad this series is over and the author didn't make it any longer than the 5 books. I don't know why, but the first book in a series usually shows promise and potential, but the following never really deliver. This series was good until the 3rd book, then it just got obnoxious and weird IMHO.

I’ve read many alien abduction romances, so trust me, this is an awesome new spin on it! Intergalactic Love Death Match, a reality show hosted by two vicious little aliens, Plabz and Kavorkt, devious as they seem to be you really do love them by the end. Five couples are stranded on an uninhabited world and need to work together to make it to the altar of freedom, the losers to be left behind on the planet- if the planet doesn’t kill them first! Their fans are able to send them gifts to help or hinder them and they can win helpful prizes along the way!
Lor is from a reclusive race, as telepaths they are very sensitive to the unrestrained thoughts of others. When Lor meets Aly their first innocent touch sparks to life the same in Aly, Lor explains that it has always been in her but something about their meeting when he was in an extremely vulnerable state suddenly accelerated her development. With his guidance she discovers a much deeper connection to the world around her than ever before, including Lor.
Our final contestants turn out to be Psychic. They can hear each other’s thoughts and can talk to the animals and plants. They avoid the feats of strength and skill the others couple’s experienced to get to Central Mountain.
Lor has other abilities that are able to keep the filming drones away, this is why they are never on the evening updates.
I felt this was the weakest entry in this five part series. The couple were instant mates even if they waited to accept the fact. The ending was too easy compared to the challenges all the other couples went through.
Alyssa and her sister were abducted by aliens and are in a love/death games and paired up with Lor and alien who was also caught. He reads minds and has a surprise for her she never realized. This story is the last of the series I believe, however it can be read as a standalone book. I enjoyed each book of this series and the wonderful, entertaining, passionate earth women and their extraordinary aliens. Loved the HEAs. I am voluntarily leaving my review of this ARC.
In sorry to read this book as I enjoyed reading this series. It was entertaining and the storyline was wonderful. The interaction and chemistry between the characters is amazing. I can't wait for more from this author. I received this book 📚, as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
Lor and Alyssa’s romance is fun, hot, and has telepathy in it. I thought the scene wher Lor hangs Alyssa’s bra on his horns to dry - hysterically funny. Any mention of the Intergalactic Cowboy Coalition is also funny. Saddened to see the end of this exciting five book series. Thank you Ava York for giving us such entertaining reads!
Ok ok. I have to admit I was skeptical after reading the first book. I wasn’t so sure I wanted to continue on. But something in me made me read the second one and now here I am. Book 5. Different but. Yay team. I am glad I finished it. I really really loved fish guts. He is sooo my favorite character ❤️❤️❤️
End Game Eva York 5 stars December 18/21 The finale
This book is different from the others. The two main characters understand each other so much better….they are psychically connected! This is the final book in this series, so be prepared for an ending you weren’t expecting.
This is my favorite book in the series. I loved Lor’s abilities and how he used them, and it was interesting to see Aly realize what she could do as she opened up to all of the possibilities. They were a great match. I was looking forward to this last book, and it didn’t disappoint.
Aly and Lor brought us to the conclusion but not the end. Life goes on for each of the five couples. Read all five books in this series and you'll enjoy every bit of them!
What an exciting, adventure, funny, loving story with a ending you won't want to miss. Ava Ross is one of my favorite authors and I don't want to spoil it for those who have not read the ending of awesome series!
An awesome ending of an awesome series and everyone but the evil villains get a happy ending . Lor and Aly have a bit soul binding experience with the help of flower power .
I didn’t see the end coming the way it did. I enjoyed each installment of this plot, but this one was best. Having all party’s perspectives and storyline come together makes for the best.
The ending was weird. I found it hard to believe. It wrapped everything up just a little too nicely and it was just a little hard to believe. I did like all the characters in this book they were good
