Ricky My rookie season is amazing. Hockey. Money. Glory. Life is great until my demons come back to haunt me. Now, I’m with the Blades, starting from scratch. Bad luck follows me everywhere… until I meet her. She understands my pain. And she calls me out on my sh*t. I want to prove that I’m mature enough to handle her. But first, I have to be mature enough to handle myself.
Julia My mid-twenties are going great career-wise. Relationship-wise? Not so much. I have a ten-year plan—job, marriage, babies. The brooding hockey player is not part of the plan. And I’m happy to tell him all the reasons why. But when a one-night-stand turns into two pink lines, I’m faced with a decision. Nobody expects me to deviate from my plan. But nobody expects me to fall for a tattooed risk-taking hockey player either. Not even me.
Note: Although this book is part of the Blades universe, this story can be read as a standalone novel.
I enjoyed this story about Ricky and Julia. The challenges they faced were ones that most could empathize with. I really enjoyed how their character arcs developed over time, especially Julia's. She learned some valuable life lessons and how to let go of prejudices. Life isn't always clear-cut, it doesn't always go according to plan, it gets messy and complicated and you most definitely can't plan for everything that life throws at you. Also, it brought to mind 'Jane Austin's Pride and Prejudice' - never judge a book by its cover. The characters, both main and side characters, were well developed and fleshed out and I found myself rooting for the H and h, and cheering when they found their HEA. Oh, and I NEED a Cinnamon in my life.. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I thought this was such a fun romance. I really liked that this was an older woman - younger man story. I really liked Ricky though he was a bit immature, down to earth but actually quite sweet. Julia is such a sweetheart. I think Cinnamon actually was the star of the whole book as I can't stop giggling over her antics.

I liked the challenges both Julia and Ricky faced in this book. Julia needed to let go of her set plan and take a chance that her first judgement wasn't correct. It was well written as a standalone. . I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Verona by Violette Paradise is a standalone novel but is a the fifth book in the Bad Boys Hockey series set in the Seattle Blades universe. It is however, better enjoyed after the other books as the characters can sometimes overlap and you may miss some cute scenes. It is a steamy secret baby romance book with a HEA. The book follows Ricky and Julia two complete opposites that instantly attract.
This is a long book filled with lots of interesting writing and plot points about the two main characters to create a well developed story which I will love re-reading. I highly recommend reading this book and finding more by this author. You won't regret it!.

This is a great story that I quickly found myself lost in. Julia has her life planed, but fate likes to hit curve pucks and brings Ricky into her life for a night. A that night chances everything.
This is well written story as you follow Julia and Ricky as they learn more than they ever expect from life.

The story opens with Ricky starting at a new team and Julia crushing on a guy who doesn't like her. She has this plan for her future and the type of guy she wants to end up with and Ricky doesn't really fit into that. She wants clean cut, mature, hard working standard boy next door and Ricky is tattooed, pot smoking, swearing hockey player.
They have a one night stand after meeting at a party and she gets preggers. He is a few years younger than her so she doesn't think he is mature enough to deal with it which i don't think is fair at all.
So she doesn't tell him and she decides to date him to get to know him but they say they love each other and she still doesn't tell him. She thinks he is too immature to deal with it.
She finally cant keep it secret anymore and she tells him. Hes happy about it until someone points out she has obviously been preggers for a while so he confronts her. She tells him its been like 13 weeks and hes pissed and rightly so. She doesn't even give him a chance to prove he can handle it. He doesn't even get to go to the first ultrasound.
He stays pissed for a while and at first she thinks he should apologise (which i don't agree with, this was all her) eventually she realises she has to make the first move so she sends him a message and they end up back together.
My problem with this book was the pacing. I don't know if this book was rushed but they skip weeks at a time so we don't really get any conversations getting to know each other. The sex scenes were rushed or totally skimmed over and just mentioned later. There's a scene when they are fully clothed and kissing and she starts to take off his shirt then they are in bed naked straight after. There are a lot of errors too. Words missing or too many words or sentences that don't make sense.
I found this story disappointing compared to the others but it was OK
