(I received a free ARC in exchange for an honest review)
For a series that started under 200 pages, this has become one of the more epic system Apocalypse series.
Fresh off a triumphant end to the first trilogy, our heroes find they can go home again but it has changed. Facing threats both internally, and externally, they struggle to save those they love, and against increasingly powerful enemies.
If you’re in book 4, you know what to expect. Humor, in-depth character relationships, and an immersion into Aussie culture. What continues to impress, is the gift for adventure and action. The world continues to open up, and we begin to see more of the system, as a progression element is introduced.
In an effort to remain fair and open I was provided a free copy of this book, not in exchange for a review or anything. I promptly forgot entirely about the pdf sent to me and bought the book on Kindle. Chances are if you are looking at this review you have read the other books in the series. If you haven't go back and do so.
I'll be honest, it is not the authors game mechanics or character that keep me coming back. Although they are fine in their own right and on par if not above others in the genre. It the deep love and respect for Aussie culture and heritage. I can't read a chapter without going on some Google tangent over some Australian landmark or animal. The author writes the setting in the best way possible. Things that get me motivated to research them in real life.
It’s such a good story…with entirely too many errors. Can’t afford a decent copy-editor, doc?
Simple homonym errors, doubled words words, missing spaces after periods or around italicized words, a weird dialogue thing where a name is used with no verb to indicate a change in speaker…enough that I considered rating this 2 stars. It could easily be 5.
The underlying story is good enough I still want to read the sequel. But this needs to be better.
This book seemed to have more development or maybe it felt a bit more serious. I liked it, made a little more sense and the characters started identifying what they stand for. New plots introduced. Same hilarity though.
Ok so I’ve loved this series from the start. I hate that they’re shorter then I normally like but eh they’re so worth it!! Every damn character is awesome. I love your writing style and how funny these books are!! Keep ‘em coming
I enjoyed reading this book very much and I recommend this book to anyone who like LitRPG and progression type of books with an apocalypse type of theme,
