The questions of the new workers were sometimes verbalized and sometimes just visible on their faces. As they heard biblical explanations of the missionary task, the focus left out so many things that they had always associated with being on mission, with being missional, with being missionary. During the session on the missionary task, where were the presentations on ministering to the poor and the suffering? Climate? Trafficking? Social Justice? Where are all the passages on meeting human needs in the book of Acts’ descriptions of the missionary task? Scriptures’ answer to the questions can be connected to two important ideas mentioned in the first two verses of the introduction to Acts. Scripture provides guidance for placing missionaries in the mission of God.
Such a great book! Walks you through scripture to gain a better understanding of how we as followers of Christ are made to participate in the work of God. Uses various peoples from the Bible to explain this understanding of the purpose for why we live and how we ought to live for the LORD!
