Made for the Mafia #1

Heartless Sinner

Rate this book
She was the one woman I couldn’t resist . . .

Half past thirty and still single, my father rode my ass daily about getting married, starting a family, and looking the part. I needed to soften my enforcer image and have the outward appearance that I was on the straight and narrow.

When I argued that I wasn't ready to settle down, he explained that no one ever was, and none of them ever did...with a wink. I laughed, until I thought about my mother. I might be a tough guy in a dangerous world, but I wanted a woman who could handle me at my worst and positively adore me at my best. Was that so much to ask of a wife?

There'd only ever been one girl who came close to that: Marla. She was plenty tough herself. She had to be. She grew up in the world, as well. And when she came to me asking for help to avenge her brother’s death, I was more than happy to help . . . for a price.

Marriage. To me. A mafia capo . . . the very thing she swore she’d never do.

Heartless Sinner is the first book in the Made for the Mafia series. Each book in the series stands alone and ends in a guaranteed HEA.

Well, it wasn’t as heartless as I thought it would be.
Vincent and Marla were a little soft..🤷🏻‍♀️
It was well written, fast paced, had minor drama and dual pov.
I wasn’t thrilled with insta love, especially Vincent’s. However, I enjoyed Marla’s backbone and sassiness.
Overall it was a quick nice mafia read.

I was very skeptical about Heartless Sinner. At the end, I enjoyed it very much. Miss Wilde provides not just dark mafia romance but also a dash of hidden truth behind arranged married.

The sex is hot. The chemistry is sizzling. There are a lot of seduction in the bedroom. I like it!
Definetly going for the next book.

I enjoyed the book from the moment I picked it up to the very end. Great writing, characters and storyline. Marla is a wonderful heroine showing strength, resolve and tenacity throughout the book. Vince is a swoon-worthy hero being the type of protective, passionate, dominant, and loyal lover towards his woman. And the chemistry between them was hot! 4 solid stars!

Universal

Marla needs help finding who killed her brother. Vincent needs a wife. Seems they can come to an agreement that benefits both of them. They'll just need to guard their hearts from any pesky feelings that may develop because their arrangement is not about feelings. She's perfect for this capo - she's smart and feisty and not about to let him get away with anything. He's perfect for her because though he's dominating (in and out of the bedroom), he's not an alphahole without a tender side, and he's got the resources to help her find her brother's killer.

Marla had plans on leaving this life. Then her brother was killed, and on his deathbed, she made him a promise to find his killer. Now she's wrapped up in Vincent Russo, God help her. She knows better than to get involved with a Mafia man, but seeking answers is more important. But when feelings develop, she can't decide if she wants to find out if they're reciprocated, or ignore them and hope she can make it out of this alive and with heart intact.

I absolutely love Erika's take on Mafia love. It's slightly out of the box as far as Mafia romances go, because it's more heart and heat than dark. Vincent is less Tony Soprano and more Jack Bauer, as in, an alpha with a heart and fierce protective instincts for the ones he loves. Marla is highly intelligent, sassy and feisty, with a hidden desire to be dominated (but only in the bedroom). They've got insanely hot chemistry, and an even stronger emotional connection. Two people couldn't be a more perfect match, and I loved every page of them. I can't wait for Vincent's brother Marco's story now, Ruthless Sinner.

Marla Preston’s brother is murdered. In her seek of revenge she turns to Vincent Russo. Vince is the oldest of the Russo brothers, and expected to take over as the leader after their father. Vince father demands that his son gets married soon.

”God forbid it just be that I was focused on my damn job, and doing whatever necessary to keep my family’s place solidified in the underworld. I didn’t need any distractions, and that included adding a wife to my pile of other obligations.”

When Marla ask’s Vince for help finding out who killed her brother, he seize the opportunity and suggests that they get married.

This book takes place over a week. It’s fast paced and insta-love. I found it too silly for my taste. The characters was supposed to be pretty dark and mafia, but they both came across way to soft for me. Thing was explained, Vince thoughts of what he wanted, I just find it unbelievable that a badass man would say these things like that. He wanted a partner, I would have preferred to experience that in his actions rather then him explaining this. It was to girly-girly-dream-guy to pull of a mafia book. Mafia for me are gritty, angst and badass. This one wasn’t that.

But I also believe that the book speaks to many romance-readers out there who likes a H that is totally devoted to his h ✅✅✅

- No cheating
- No OW/OM drama (a dinner with a woman who would want h’s place, but H shuts her down publicly)
- Triggers: death
- HEA with epilogue a short while later

”This is going to be a partnership. I don’t want a wife who’ll just warm my bed and look good on my arm at parties. I want you to give me your opinions.”

Erika has started this new series with a bang! Vincent Russo and Marla Preston are a match made in mafia family heaven.
Vincent is receiving pressure from his father to take a wife, but the choices leave him wanting and needing more. He wants an equal, someone with moxie, a woman that can rise to any occasion. He has not yet met her until Marla knocks on his door. Marla Preston has grown up in the life, but she has never wanted to be a part of it. When her brother is killed and her family is threatened, she may need help and alliance. She finds herself on Vincent Russo's doorstep but is not prepared for his deal. He is a total alpha male, but she soon sees that he can be so much more.
I loved the banter and tension between this couple. Marla was able to stand at his side and be so much more than a trophy bride, she soon showed everyone, she was intelligent, brave, business and social savvy and became irresistible to Vincent. This was quite an adventure with this couple filled with action, mystery, suspense, fabulous banter and chemistry that was sizzling off the pages.

1 v. disappointed star

DNF

They jumped to bed the next day after meeting, on their first date during which our heroine was more interested in her food and kept moaning out loud rather than discussing their potential marriage.
So that was already stupid enough for me.

And maybe I would've continued if I felt some sorta chemistry between these two but it was as exciting as watching grass grow.

A marriage of convenience trope requires a good dose of slow burn and build-up to make it all believable, to make me squirm with anticipation.

Here we have none.
Zilch.
Nada.

Plus, I wasn't a fan of the heroine.

So thanks but no thanks.

Marla and Vince😍

Marla is thinking of getting out of the life…the Mafia life…when her brother is viciously beaten and stabbed and on his deathbed he asks Marla to find the man who did this to him and get vengeance for him😳

Marla is smart, so she decides to go to the top which leads her to Vincent Russo, where she asks him for the resources to find who killed her brother. The price is her hand in marriage, which she agrees to❣️

A great story that I REALLY REALLY enjoyed. I wasn’t sure if this author has ever written Mafia before but this is a genre I hope to see more of from her in the future❤️ Looking forward to the next books in this series🤩

I liked it but didn’t love it! Honestly it all happened too quick for my liking. I would have liked some zest, a little more to have brought up the excitement level and yeah a bit of angst to bump it up!
All in all a good read but very light and easy for my taste at the moment.

I enjoy mafia stories and this one is up there with some of the best of them. I particularly enjoyed the slightly different slant this story has as well as the mystery of who the killer is, which does keep you wondering until the author shares some obvious clues at the end!

Marla is from a low level mafia family, she would like to get away from this world to experience life with a “normal” man., life doesn’t always pan out the way you want it to though. I enjoyed Marla’s confidence in herself as well as her sharp Intellect. She’s a woman who knows her own mind and isn’t afraid to speak up but also is loyal to her family.

Vincent is the epitome of a mafia capo and he embraces his role enthusiastically, mind you he wasn’t given much choice with his father being The Don. At thirty-five he’s directed by his father to ‘find a suitable wife’ so the hunt is on! Actually, I applaud Vincent for his method in choosing a wife, he didn’t just go on shallow things like looks alone. But this is exactly what he is like, a deep thinker and as the oldest in the family has always needed to be.

The mystery of who the killer is, as stated, is an interesting ongoing issue in the story. However, why he killed is also mysterious and forms the nucleus of Vincent and Marla’s investigation. I always like it when a book is unpredictable and this one did take me by surprise so that’s one reason for the extra half a star. The other is the more ‘real life’ like approach this author took in her writing. Things don’t naturally go according to the lead characters wants or needs. But 🤐 I will let you find out the rest.

A fabulous romance with terrific characters that I could relate to in as far as real people, a fab bit of suspense and lots of passion!

*An advance reader copy was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.*

Vincent Russo is the eldest son of the head of the Russo Organization. He is his father’s right-hand man and heir to the kingdom. Vincent has always handled whatever needs to be done. When his father tells him that he needs to find a bride, Vincent is reluctant, but understands that he’s in his mid-30s and to be the heir apparent, he needs to settle down. But he wants someone like himself, who can be an equal partner in their relationship, not just look good on his arm.

Marla Preston is the only daughter of a low-level Mafia Family. While her brothers are involved in the family business, she went to college and got a job. Marla is determined not to marry a Mafia man and leave the family business behind for good. But then one of her brother’s is killed and before he died, he asked her to find out who did this to him. Marla knows that she needs help and since her family is under the protection of the Russo’s that it makes sense to ask Vincent for help.

From the moment they first meet, Marla and Vincent are attracted to one another. They match each other in good looks, brilliant minds and strong wills. Vincent makes her a deal that he’ll find whoever killed her brother if she’ll marry him.

I have only read a handful of Mafia stories, but there was something about this one that drew me in. It could have been because Marla is the type of heroine that can stand on her own. She has an independence streak, a sarcastic tone and knows what she wants. Vincent is the type of hero that is definitely an alpha, but he does have a softer side that he seems to only show to Marla. He’s a powerful man both in the outside world and inside their home. I really enjoy this book and can’t wait to see what’s in store for the other two Russo brothers.

This is book one in The Made For The Mafia.Series and it is Marla and Vince's story and omg what a great start to a new series and definitely a must read. Vince is a mafia son but when his father tells him that he needs to find a wife he was not happy as he enjoyed women without all the trappings, commitment and distractions that they could bring to his job and also be wanted a woman who could be there for him regardless of the situation but he hasn't found her yet and he doesn't want to settle for less. Marla's mom is constantly going on at her to get married but as she worked for her father who is part of the mafia which she really didn't want to be part of or marry into as she wanted to leave and live her own life and marry a man of her choice who loved her for who she was but that hasn't happened yet but she was getting closer to her goals. There are twists and turns that you definitely didn't see coming along with betrayal, family, trust, loyalty, loss, hope, love and difficult situations and I couldn't put this book down as it was a real page turner and so addictive along with great characters and storyline that pulled you in right from the start and kept your attention throughout and I can't wait to read the next book in this series. Erica Wilde is an amazing author and writer and she certainly knows how to keep her reader's attention and I can't wait to read more of her books in the future.

Let me start off by saying that this is my first mafia romance. I'm usually a rule follower so reading about a crime family never really appealed to me. But when Erika Wilde said she was starting something new, I knew I had to give it a try because Ms. Wilde is one of my go to authors. And then when she said Heartless Sinner was going to be told in dual first person POV, which if you've read my past reviews, you'll know is not my preference at all. Only a very select few have won me over with first person narratives and Erika Wilde has just been added to my "must read even if it's first person POV" list.

Heartless Sinner is just, WOW! I am pleasantly pleased that this story had me hooked from the beginning despite my reservations when I first started. Vince and Marla were scorching together. Their chemistry was undeniable. He was the big mob boss's son and heir. She was part of a lower level family but she was strong and smart and just a wonderful heroine. A perfect match to Vince. There was some suspense and mystery involved but it really was a love story from the beginning. I loved how their relationship developed and Vince showed me a very loving and soft side to the criminal underworld I never knew existed. This story did not focus on all the crime a crime family would commit. It was mostly just mentions. But it did focus on the love between a man and a woman. I really loved that. And of course all the naughty sexy parts too. Can't forget that this was a truly hot romance. If you have any doubt like I had about reading something new, give Heartless Sinner a try. I bet you'll love it just as much as I did.

This book shocked me it was so good!

I’d like to start off by saying that this is the first mafia story that I have ever read. I wasn’t sure what to expect or if this would be something I could read. The whole mafia scene has never appealed to me before. With that being said, this book while at times was hard for me to envision life in the mafia, it was really a good story. I’ve always been a huge fan of Erika’s so I’m glad to see that this story still has all the heat and passion as all of her other books. Vincent is such a strong and powerful man and to see him fall in love with Marla was spectacular. The way that Marla held her own with not only Vincent, but her family and Vincent’s family proves what a strong woman she is as well and proves that she was made to be Vincent’s partner. Even though Vincent has to be a touch man to maintain his position, it was refreshing to see that when it was just him and Marla, he could be more open and personal with her. And seeing him dominate Marla in the bedroom is hot, hot, hot. I can honestly say that you have to give this story a chance.

Wow! Just wow!!! I have loved Erika Wilde's writing for years now but this one is so different from the others. Vincent Russo is so... Alpha!! He is the heir apparent to a Mafia family and has all the right elements to be so. He is ruthless and exacting in his actions. He is smart but knows how to use muscle. He knows what he wants and gets it. When Marla Preston walks in with a chip on her shoulder, he knows who he wants. Marla is so smart about a world she wants to leave that she knows how everything needs to play out before it happens. Her desire to have the revenge her family needs puts her in a odd situation. Then again Vince is her perfect solution. He can read her innermost desires like a book. I think for me, Vince won me over not by his alpha tendencies but by his softness only with Marla. And by softness I mean his love for her. The heat level on the bedroom is hotter than scorching in true Erika Wilde fashion.

Vince Russo is the Mafia heir to his father’s kingdom. Marla Preston has no interest in her family’s mafia business and wants to leave as soon as she can. When tragedy strikes Marla’s family she goes to the only man powerful enough to help find the person responsible for this attack on her family, Vince Russo. Vince requires 1 thing of her for his help.

Heartless Sinner is a good story of an alpha hero and his strong woman. Mafia stories aren’t a particular favorite of mine but this one had more romance in it to keep me turning the pages and I really enjoy this one. I loved how strong, caring and romantic Vince was. His character was well written. Marla was a good match for Vince which balanced the story quite nicely. I am looking forward to the other two Russo brothers and their stories.

Vince was born and raised in a mafia family and has been trained to take over the Russo Family when the time comes. His father believes that it is time for him to choose a bride so when Marla comes to him looking for help he suggests an arrangement that would benefit both of them.

Although her family may be part of the mafia it isn’t the life Marla wants. Her brother’s death changes everything, and she is determined to find out who was responsible and why however when she approached Vince for assistance she didn’t think the cost would be agreeing to marry him.

Marla’s feisty personality is the perfect match for the protector in Vince. The chemistry between them is intense but it is the emotional connection between them that makes their relationship so special.

Heartless Sinner (Made for the Mafia, #1) by Erika Wilde
This is my first MAFIA romance and I was a little unsure about how I would feel about it. There is no question anymore. Erika grabbed from the very beginning and never let me go. Vince and Marla are both strong and their attraction is strong from their first meeting. She needs his help to solve her brother's murder and his father has ordered him to find a wife. Their deal is on and they work their way through solving the mystery and getting closer to each other. There is violence, hatred, jealousy, laughter, tears, angst, trust, mistrust, hard decisions, and plenty of steam to get us to their HEA. I am looking forward to the next book RUTHLESS SINNER.
Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Steamy Happily Ever After Romantic Page-turner Unpredictable Haunting Scary Easy-to-read Action-packed Tear-jerker Tragic Witty Entertaining Wonderful characters Twisted Great word building

This book is about Vincent, the oldest brother and capo for the powerful Russo crime family. At thirty-five his father tells him it is time for him to marry. Marla is the only daughter of a less powerful family under the Russo's protection. When something happens to her family she goes to Vincent for help. From their first meeting they have strong chemistry, but Marla wants out of the mafia and Vincent needs a wife. What happens when these two strong-willed people come together?

I don't read a lot of mafia books really enjoyed this one. I liked both of the main characters and how their relationship developed. It felt real and not too over the top. I am looking forward to the next book on the series.

I love Mafia stories and Erika Wilde is one of my favorite authors. I loved this story from the start. Marla's brother is murdered and she ends up going to Vince for help. Her family is on the lower end of mafia families and Vince's family is one of the most feared. I really loved the fact that Marla wasn't a pushover and knew what being in the mafia world was about. Neither family is thrilled about them getting together and there are several "tests" to check out her loyalty. That twist towards the end? Yeah, never saw that coming. I sort of figured out who was the bad guy but like I said, didn't see it coming! This story was so good and I so want more in this world!!! Loved, loved, loved it!!!!

This book is well written and helped me understand the mafia a little better. This is not the type of book that I would normally read, but I wanted to step outside my comfort zone! It’s hard for me to understand the mafia with all the killing and cheating people. I could understand why Marla would want to get out of it, but it wasn’t in the cards. I understood why Marla went to Vincent to help her get revenge for the brutal beating of her brother. I thought Marla and Vincent were a wonderful love match even though neither were looking for love. There were a lot of bedroom scenes and some real hateful people. It was an interesting book. What a great start to a new series. Heartless Sinner is Vince and Marla's story, and a real page turner. Marla wants nothing to do with the mafia world she grew up in, but family tragedy and a need for revenge leads her to capo Vince. Vince needs a wife, and he sees Marla as the perfect woman to fill this role. Entering into a mutually beneficial agreement, real sparks soon start to fly! I couldn't get enough of this couple, and I'm excited to read more books in this series!

Well hello Mafia world... I'm not the one to want to read this genre but my God this could just change my mind.
The whole story was fast paced, filled with so much character and chemistry that had me turning my pages at super fast speed just to see what happens next. Both Vince and Marla were strong, intelligent and wouldn't just take shit from anybody. Their pact was made with one objective but it ended up giving them so much more.

As said I'm not a huge fan of this genre but with this series I just might become one.

Erika Wilde starts off a new series with a bang and I am hooked. The cover is fire and then the story takes you in and doesn't let you go. Heartless Sinner is a mafia romance between Vincent, the current enforcer and soon to be capo of the Russo Mafia Family, and Maria, who was raised in a lesser mafia family who goes to Vincent seeking protection for herself and family following the brutal death of her brother. This book kept my reading attention with its intriguing storyline, amazing characters, steamy chemistry, and romantic journey to love.
