Brittany Maher and Cassandra Speer, leaders of the social media sensation and ministry Her True Worth, deliver a powerful call to women to break free from the bondage of false identities and discover their true worth in Jesus Christ. After years of working in the beauty industry, Brittany Maher and Cassandra Speer became disheartened by the false, contradictory messages about what defines a woman's worth. They saw women who were lost and wandering, endlessly seeking security and approval. So Maher and Speer made it their mission to help Christian women uncover their valuable identity in Jesus Christ. In Her True Worth , Maher and Speer reveal what God intended our identity to be in the beginning, how sin corrupted it, how Christ has redeemed it, and how to live securely in that identity. They remind us that, ultimately, our true worth is found in Him--and that's a life-altering, soul-anchoring truth to live in and live from. As you uncover your true worth, you'll also learn how Let Her True Worth be your guide as you discover the woman you were meant to be. Praise for Her True Worth : "In a world that teaches us to measure our worth by our social media followings, achievements, and striving, Her True Worth gently turns us back to where our identity truly in Jesus. Brittany and Cassandra empower women to remember the source of all hope and encourage us to lay down our idols in exchange for true peace in him." --Danielle Coke, illustrator, activist, and founder of Oh Happy Dani

My Thoughts:
As a woman, as a social media influencer, a wife, a mother, a sister, and a friend, and among many other roles we all lead, this book helps center and guide when most needed.
Do you have days when you just feel lost and wandering, or feeling you have to seek security and approval?
As I began to read this book, and just from the first chapter, I was already invigorated, feel worthy, beautiful and loved. Some other topics covered in this book include: people pleasing, chasing our worth in the wrong places, our created value, importance of being rooted and grounded, and how to course correct now.
I found the writing pleasing and not preachy, and loved the sharing of examples from personal experience and stories that resonate, rather than information after information.
The book is slim but worth keeping in your tote to read a chapter at a time, and sharing this book with other women that need to hear their true worth!
important topic. i appreciate their attempts to tackle such an important, complex topic like this. but unfortunately it was kinda shallow. i thought they would dig deeper. the last two chapters were the best tbh.
A powerful book that hits home in this day and age of social media and feeling like we have to live up to the false identities all around us.
Brittany Maher and Cassandra Speer have the ministry Her True Worth and are popular on social media. They are using their calling to help other women work to break free from the chains that social media can impose on them. Brittany worked for years in the beauty industry while Cassandra became depressed with the messages being sent about a woman’s worth. All around they would both see women lost and seeking attention and affirmation without looking to the only one that can give us what we need, Jesus Christ. Within the pages of this book, these two women show readers what God intended our identity to be, not what we have been told it should be. Each chapter is a reminder that our true worth is found in the one that loves us unconditionally and will steer us away from the false messages we have been led to believe.
This book hit me hard at a time I have doubted my worth not only with God, but with others around me. I recently had a great friend of mine celebrate a birthday and had lots of friends post about times with her and I started to wonder if I was as good of a friend because I didn’t post on Facebook about our friendship. How crazy is that? I had to take a step back and realize if that affected our friendship, which it didn’t, the friendship wasn’t real to begin with. With social media in our world, we see more and more young adults and even older adults becoming obsessed with being online and “liked” and depressed if they don’t have the right social media presence. I loved each and every chapter of this book and the way it pointed out how our value is much more than we realize based on social media and the world around us. If we can continue to remind us to look to Jesus and what he thinks of us instead of the world we will all be in better shape.
I received a complimentary copy of this title from the publisher. The views and opinions expressed within are my own.
A solid 4.5 star book! "Her True Worth" would be a great present for a young lady starting college this fall. It is definitely written for the high school/ college crowd, and it speaks a lot to finding your identity and who you are in Christ rather than who the world says you are. The authors have done a great job of telling their story while tying in lots of scripture to emphasize their points. While I found the book a little young for me, I think this book would have been really helpful in my later years of high school and early college when I was trying to figure out who I was outside of my parents' household. Having a book that sounds like a couple of girlfriends just chatting with me and reminding me of who I truly am, and where my true worth is found, would have been a marvelous boon. Definitely check this book out when it releases!
This book got me on 🔥for Jesus! I have a much clearer perspective of what He did for me! He sent his only son to die for me! Because that’s how worth it I am! And you are too! Read it and find out! It’s true!!
“The promise of the cross is that you are worth the greatest gift of all time.”
“God knows you, and yet he still loves you. To be seen by God is to be noticed and looked upon. He is El Roi, the God who sees us.”
“If you want to experience true freedom in Christ, you’ve got to recognize where your identity comes from and choose to embody it every day with confidence.”
“Your life is not your own, you were bought with a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies." (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
I truly enjoy reading books that delve deeply into themes of faith, exploring the teachings of God and Jesus Christ, while incorporating meaningful scripture verses throughout. It has encouraged me to share my testimony because no one can take away the experiences I've lived through. This particular book was incredibly inspiring, and I found myself captivated by its message. I absolutely loved every moment of it.
The beautiful cover is only the beginning! As you open the book and start reading, you'll see how the authors Brittany and Cassandra really pour out their hearts on every page. I appreciated their honesty and transparency and bravery in sharing intimate details of they real-life story, even the parts that hurt.
This book does a wonderful work in encouraging the hearts of women and pointing them to the One (Jesus Christ) who LOVES THEM with ALL of His Heart!
I highly recommend this book to ALL women (young and old) who need to remember their true worth in the eyes of their Maker (God) which is much more valuable than what the messages of this world will tell you.
I am so encouraged by this message! It spoke to my heart and challenged me to always remember my true worth as a Daughter of the King! I'd read this book again and again whenever I need a pick-me-up.
The authors did a great job of keeping their writing relatable and supported by scripture. I appreciated the reflection questions at the end of each chapter. This book should be read by women of all ages. The message is so timely and important.
This book is a wonderful gift to women of all walks of life, whether looking to find God, a new believer, or someone who has been a person of faith for years. I think any woman could gain insight or be given a great reminder of just who they are & can be! I highly recommend this to any woman who needs to strengthen her confidence, yet, humbly acknowledge her identity is found in Christ. It’s written in very readable language and vocabulary, but it does explore deep subjects. I looked forward to picking it up each day while I was reading it. I hope this will not be the last to hear from this writing/ministry team!
Really 3.5 stars. This book is great for high school girls up to all ages of women, I will definitely be recommending this to others in the future! I went through this book in the fall as a part of a discipleship meeting and the reflection questions helped spark conversations about each chapter and helped both of us really think about and chew on what we read. So many great points about worth and how our minds work that were practical, encouraging, and challenging. However, much of the book may seem as nothing new to those in Christian circles or those who read a lot of Christian books and listen to Christian podcasts, but the points that are new make it an overall worth while read.
I love following this account on Instagram, so when I saw they were writing a book, I quickly pre-ordered it. It’s a quick and easy read chock-full of good Truth. Most of it is nothing new, and some of the analogies were a bit fluffy at times, but their personal stories and anecdotes were entertaining and helped illustrate their points. Lots of good nuggets of insight & practical steps to take.
When I read a lot of Christian living books, I like to underline and highlight. Sometimes I can go a whole book and have only a few highlights - that is not the case for this one! I felt like every chapter I was highlighting something. There is something so powerful in reading a book that makes you feel like you can trust and rely on God more than you did before you started the book. It was a great reminder of my "true worth." I've come to remind myself that all the things of this world don't compare to the unconditional love of Christ, that He is my ultimate counselor, friend and most of all my Savior. Since reading this, I have purchased several of these books and given them to co-workers and girls in my high school and college small groups. I CANNOT stop talking about this book. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for answers to questioning their worth or their place in this world. Here is a little snippet of something that I highlighted: "You were created in God's image, and your life is for his glory. And yes, even your weaknesses point to his strength, your wounds point to his ability to heal, and the ruins of your life point to his power to restore and redeem. That's because humanity is different from the rest of God's beautiful creation; we alone bear the image of the Creator."
Words fall short in comparison to life changing truth that hugs your soul. This book contains both those things: truth and soul hugs. I cannot adequately sum up this compilation of stories and scripture other than to say this is one of my top reads this year. If you’re a teen, a college student, or a mom, you need the truth this book carries. This will be a top recommendation from me for a long time.
This is a great book! If you are religious / believe in Jesus, this book is a wonderful and comforting reminder of your self worth. I really enjoyed reading a chapter every other day or so, highly recommend 🫶🏼 It’s not shaming or guilting like some Christian books can be, in fact, it’s the opposite. Loved this.
It was a good book, with many points reminding me to point back to Jesus. There were a few scenarios that I couldn't relate to, but I could still understand how those issues can be an issue for someone and how they can lose focus on Jesus and instead focus on self. I loved the ending pointing to several scriptures.
This book has been a great reminder of who I am in Christ. I’ve been going through a very tough season for what seems like 2 years now. I’ve also become a mom in those two years which has radically shifted my identity. I’ve felt lost and alone most of the time - this book has been a much needed reminder of WHOSE I am and where my true identity comes from. The authors are authentic and vulnerable which has helped me relate to them and see myself in their journeys. The questions at the end of each chapter are challenging and really bring the whole chapter to a great close. I highly recommend this book for any woman who is struggling or just needs a reminder of their true identity ♥️
This book is so refreshing and should be read by all women, teens and young adults. It is a message as Christians we are taught but we so quickly forget and fail to implement in our lives. I am so excited to share this in a women's study soon. After finishing I am feeling inspired, confident and daily reminding myself I am worthy.
This book is a must read for woman of all ages! In an age of trying to measure up and fit in to find your worth. In the world where social media sets standards that we feel need to be achieved. This books helps reminds us our true and only worth is in Jesus Christ!! So helpful and powerful book. Highly recommend for young woman/teens.
The authors of this book go back and forth, preaching truths over commonly believed lies that women have held. This was a quick read and had a faith-focused message.
I think the topic is really good and important for all women to read and believe, but the delivery of it was not as in depth as I would have liked. I’d still recommend this to my friends, because what sometimes felt too surface level was still an important message to take home.
Ladies, my dear Sisters-in-Christ, in all honesty, how many times have you stopped and wondered why the Lord had decided to make you the woman that you are?
As a Christian woman, you must remember that the Bible is fraught with reassurance and astuteness as to who you are and to comprehend better the function the Lord has made for you. You also must remember that He has created you in His image.
1 CORINTHIAN 15:10 [NKJV] reminds all women of the following:
“But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.”
And once you come to realize the truth as to why you are the way you are. You should go and exalt the Lord in the manner that gets found in reading PROVERBS 139:14 [NKJV]:
“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.”
How many of you have sat back and admired your husband, his fortitude, and sheer strength, leaving you to believe you’re the weaker sex? Yet, you’ve got a characteristic with which you can win him over. If you are in doubt, then read 1 PETER 3:1-2 [NKJV]
[1] Wives, likewise, be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, [2] when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear.
As a woman, the Spirit of the Lord might have endowed you with a gift, which 1 CORINTHIANS 12:4-11 [NKJV] tells you about:
[4] There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. [5] There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. [6] And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. [7] But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: [8] for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, [9] to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, [10] to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. [11] But the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.
While all the above might be true, the most important thing you need to remember for being the woman you are is that the Lord has blessed you with the ability to bring forth life, with the seed[s] that He has placed in your womb. Each Christian woman needs to go and exalt the Lord for having made you who you are and for having made you in His image. And never, never question it.
Being a 71-year-old nondenominational Christian woman, I found this demonstrative, inspiring, and informative book by authors Brittany Maher and Cassandra speaking to the hearts and minds of Christian women, regardless of their age, and directing them to our Lord and Savior, so He loves us with all of His heart. While being fraught with solid advice so every Christian woman can discover her true value in the eyes of the Lord and herself, it’s devoid of all social distractions which would otherwise hinder discovering the truth of their intrinsic value.
In helping to remove the veil that hides Christian women from discovering the true value of who they are. I’ve given 5 STARS to both authors of this transformational endeavor.
I received a print copy of this book from the publishers through a giveaway they had on GoodReads; and the above has been my honest opinion.
Thank you to Nelson Books and NetGalley for allowing me to read this ARC of Her True Worth by Brittany Maher and Cassandra Speer. My thoughts are my own.
It's safe to say that "worth" is a huge theme in women's books, branching the aisle of both mainstream and Christian publishing. In fact, there are books with almost identical titles to Her True Worth. This is a hot topic that seems to infiltrate every non-fiction book geared towards women.
You might be wondering then, how does this book differ from the rest? Well, let me first say that we all have a story. God uses our stories to shape us and for us then to share and provide encouragement to those around us. In a sense, we all have a platform from which to share how God has changed us, made us new and created a new identity in us. Brittany and Cassandra offer a glimpse into their own personal stories in order to show how their identities have been found in Christ. They touch on the tough issues that women struggle with in determining their worth and value.
Where I think Her True Worth shines is in the personal testimonies of the authors, Brittany and Cassandra. They show how incorrect views of themselves, primarily in the realm of people pleasing and thinking that perfection (selfies) or works (side hustles) would complete them and provide them with satisfaction and value.
In addition, Her True Worth is filled with passages directly from the Bible. A lot of "Christian" writers will either not include any passages from the Bible or sometimes very few. It was refreshing to read a Christian living book who's focus was totally in the Word of God.
Finally, there is a gospel message offered that is Biblical in nature, one that doesn't seek to offer "basic fire insurance" but that includes daily sanctification.
Where I think Her True Worth misses the mark is in some of the pop cultural references the authors use, primarily in criticizing purity culture and referring to Toni Collier both in the book and in the acknowledgements. There is a whole generation of people who came out of purity culture and now criticizing the movement because they feel disillusioned, I think in large part for guilt and shame associated with being unable to meet the standards set by the movement. While a manmade construct, purity culture points people to the holiness that God desires for us and from and therefore should bring our sin and incapableness to light and ultimately our need for Christ.
Now, I'll admit, I didn't know anything about Toni Collier before reading Her True Worth; having done some research, I know that she is a pretty big deal. But, her association with Hillsong raises some red flags for me.
All that said, this was a worthwhile read, and I think that women born between 1980 and 2000 will resonate with the message presented: your worth and value are ultimately found in Christ. Don't let any distractions convince you otherwise. And if you don't have a relationship with Christ, you can. He can turn your life around.
