The fat and ugly Nora Smith is the laughingstock of the town when her fiancé breaks off their engagement.
He says, “The sight of your gigantic face and thunder thighs disgusts me! Don't ever pester me again!" “What an idiot.” Nora scoffs and turns around, her lips curling up into a smile.
Later, when Nora successfully slims down, she returns as an astounding beauty.
Her ex-fiancé comes to her bearing flowers and begs, "I was wrong, Nora. I’m willing to do anything as long as you come back to me.” Nora rests her chin in her hands and smiles as she replies, “Real men don’t dwell on the past.” Angered, he says, “You’re just a dimwit saddled with baggage that I dumped, Nora. No one will want you except me!"
But following that…
A young and popular singer tweets: “Nora Smith is my goddess!"
An internationally renowned surgeon asks, “Are you free tonight, Nora?”
Even the rich and influential hotshot whom everyone is scared of comes forward and says, ”I can take care of my wife and children myself, thank you very much.”
I ended up listening to this on YouTube because that was the only place I could find it that it wasn’t going to cost $100 to read. That being said the narrator on YT seems computer generated with lots of mispronunciations and in the later chapters there are parts that seem to fast forward. I am also not sure I actually got the end of the book it ended at chapter 1064.
The actual storyline kept me engaged but many parts were redundant and different parts contradicted themselves at times. I am not sad I “read” it but I wouldn’t do so again. I also feel this would have been better suited to be a series instead of a really long book.
This is an exciting read when I was expecting only romance between a domineering CEO and an ugly duckling. This is a good blend of romance, mystery, action and science fiction. There is a lot of depth with the many characters and in the detailed storyline. There are some inhumane treatment in a few chapters that are hard to read without tearing up. This is worth reading even with some minor issues.
Minor Issues: The finale lasted about 200 chapters and dragged with unnecessary action scenarios and twists.
The author refers to a beauty mark on the main lead near his eye about every third chapter in this 1000+ chapter novel. It’s get tiring to read about it.
The author’s knowledge of distances and geography in western countries is lacking when assuming one can drive from New York to California in 5 hours! It takes over one day to drive across Texas alone! It is about 5.5 hours by airplane to fly from New York City to Los Angeles. There are two references to this error. Also, the author wrote about a cruise ship on the sea in Switzerland when Switzerland has no shorelines! It is a mountainous inland country. These are a lack of research by the author. They don’t detract much from the story.
There is a continuous obsession with beauty in both men and women. Old women are ageless, men’s looks are godly and even their children’s looks can destroy a nation. This is seen a lot in Asian novels.
**SPOILERS** The definition of abuse appears to be only torture excluding both neglect and emotional abuse of a particular child. The statement, “At least Trueman had not abused him,” represents statements used several times in a subplot referring to a child held captive from birth in a basement, never allowed out of it, injected with experimental drugs, and not told about his real parents. Additionally, his only friends were genetically modified pets, lab rats, that continuously died under experimentation. The child was allowed to cook and eat the pets in his abductee’s basement to prevent further experimentation on them after death. The same child cut and swapped body parts of living lab animals to keep at least one alive. All this happens before the age of five! Yet, the author repeatedly states the child was not abused by the abductor character Trueman!

This was originally one of those books where people read it on app and there is only a chapter a day where people either had to watch ads or pay to read the next chapter and it had over 900 chapters so it was very long and took a while to read. I found the whole ebook online and it was a really interesting story and lots of plot twists and some shockers. There’s romance, mystery, action, revenge, drama, humor, you name it this book has it so I’m not sure what genre it is. In a way, some people would call it cheesy because it is one of those classic but recently highly popular cheesy type stories where a previously poor or ugly/overweight girl ends up being the ugly duckling who turned into a swan and she gets her revenge on lots of people who wronged her in the past. She hooks up with a billionaire and the content of the book kept me really engrossed in the whole story. I would give it five stars, however the one thing is that even if it is a story, I tend to like things that are believable and could happen in real life. I don’t read much sci fi because of this and I’m not saying this book is science fiction but it does have some genetic modification medications in it that change people and the main character in the story who is around 24 years old just happens to be an expert at a dozen different things because she is super smart and has trained in so many different things. Which makes it unbelievable yet it is satisfying to watch her “face slap” people who try to insult her or look down on her. I’m actually reading it for a second time. I would recommend it based solely on the interesting content and for people who love to see bad people get served a proper dish of revenge. Best parts of the book! I read this online but I notice Amazon has it for sale and it is only 200 something pages so if one buys it that way I do not believe the whole story can be fit into only 200 plus pages so it is either a shorter version or it is the beginning of a series, I’m not sure which.
I am one of those people who continues to read books, even though I don't like them.
Well I am just can't. I got up to the 400s
Pros: Very detailed oriented. You see what the person looks and every detail of the area. He gives hints of men and women as an honor of not sleeping around. That it should be saved for a specific person. Yes they fail at times but it is rhe underlying message. Loyalty, honor and family.
Cons: To long and should have written it as a supernatural world or something other than America. No imagination can get me to believe everything. Mystery woman, is a master at everything from surgeon to biggest martial artist to best race car driver; yet, nobody knows it's her. She is so gifted at being secretive, all under different names. All while being 25? Even with Hyperthymesia, where she remembers every detail she reads or experiences. All while she has a condition to where she has to sleep 12 hours a day.
The only entertaining parts are with the children..

I thoroughly loved this novel. Unknowingly this became a part of me it driven me completely with the characters. Especially cherry. When I reach the end of the story my heart sank 💔. I’m feeling very very sad. Please Mr. Yan can you release the second part. Where we can get to see Justin & Nora together more than part 1. In part 1 we get to see them rarely together. I’m not good with expressing how I felt about reading this novel correctly. But all I can say that is I learned a lot of new things. It helped me too see the world in different angle. Huh, it can also be possible in some place the plot gave me goosebumps. & felt oh my god will there some people who uses there powers like this. I felt every thing is like a game like chess who moving pawns. Mr. Yan you’re amazing simply awesome. "May you live a blessed life filled with love, joy, and endless opportunities." "Wishing you a lifetime of blessings and happiness in everything you do." I respect 🫡 you Sir.
Very confusing book. It starts out good but gets convoluted when multiple new families and characters are added. Nora is mid 20s, supposedly dropped out, yet knows karate, is the world's best neurosurgeon, is on a secret financial board, owns a company (never mentioned again after 100 something chapters), and is a hacker? There is no way. She can also dance.
The characters also all act like children and it is weird how supportive the book is towards letting a 5 year old stream games for millions of dollars (that she never sees)
VERY strange.

Im in the 1100s of this book on pocket fm and am enjoying it alot even if it is a bit cheesy at times and if you took a drink everytime the corners of someone's lips spasm you would be on the floor in no time but I love it. On the one hand I will be sad when it finally ends having invested so much of my time into it but on the other hand wish I could finally be done with it. other than 99 cents at the beginning and another 99 cents when they were doing a good sale I haven't spent money on it which means I have watched a ton of ads.
Amazing! The author is amazing too! He wrote the story intelligently (besides romance, he infused knowledge of medicine, war fares, etc.) It's easy reading because of correct grammar, proper usage of pronouns, etc. I wish for Mr Yan to write more stories. I read the latest Chapter #975. The challenge for him is how he will end the story of "She Becomes..."
Good premise. Could stand the help of a good editor and one up on American logistics and culture. A few glaring bloopers, but considering this obviously wasn’t an American writer I still thought it was good, funny, and light hearted. Knocked it one star for the final chapter with the kids… unless this becomes the first of a series.
prolly the only chinese webnovel out there that has mcs who are not toxic to each other. i love how equally powerful they both are and how justin let nora do whatever she wanted with him silently assisting her in the shadows.
xander's arc will always never fail to make me emotional. my baby. still wishing for second gen book tho. i need more of the triplets.
The story line is great. But it doesn't antally end it just stops and leaves so much unanswered. Although I enjoy the bits with the kids grown up it would have been better to not include the or have them in bonus chapters so it didn't feel so half finished.
