When he ordered me to bare myself for him, I should have done anything other than obey. But as I stand here watching him devour me with his eyes, what I feel isn't merely shame.
It is need.
Need for his gaze wandering over my quivering body like a beast about to pounce on his prey.
Need for his hands roaming over every inch of me, reminding me that it all belongs to him, then pinning my arms with ease as he spanks me raw before reclaiming me as roughly as he pleases.
Need so desperate I couldn't control it even if I wanted to...and I'm not sure I want to.
Publisher's Note: Need includes spankings, rough sexual scenes, intense and humiliating punishments, and strong D/s themes. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.

I love Trent Evans! If you tell me Trent Evans is coming out with a contemporary erotic romance I’ll run to my kindle, which lets be honest, I’d probably already have in my hands.
This was such a romantic, adorable and erotic AF second chance romance about a couple on the verge of divorce, a touching love story and real meaning.
Marriage is hard. Your life sex won’t always be a romance novel. While being steamy in the way only Trent Evans can, this book took me to erotic paradise once again.
4.5 I loved this couple, this story and of course, the sex scenes. Just know that if you’re not ready for this type of story it definitely won’t be for you. It’s probably not for everyone.
Trent Evans is on a roll, and i’m loving it! Need is the second ARC i was lucky enough to receive in a short period, and it’s got his unique signature all over it. A married couple on the verge of divorce are spending time together for seven days to see if it’s not too late.
Even though Eva blames Nick for a lot of things, she still goes along with whatever he comes up with. There ís a way to end it,but day after day passes without her using that possibility. Why? She really doesn’t know…. But the Nick she’s forced to deal with now is most certainly NOT the Nick she knew before. And she’s VERY confused about how that makes her feel! She shouldn’t like what he does to her….right? So…why does her body disagree?
Nick is sure he’s able to get to his wife’s inner needs,if only he got the chance. Now,with the time he’s allowed to make her face those needs,he’s determined to make the most of it. Show her the man he really is. Make her accept that man,and embrace her darkest needs. Seeing proof of those needs each and every time gives him hope. That it’s not too late….
This was a story that grabbed me from page one. Two people that só badly needed to find eachother again,it hurt. Because it was obvious they still cared. The end was VERY satisfying, and i loved how they embraced their new dynamic.
This is a fast-paced and steamy second change romance. Eva and Nick are divorced in every sense of the word except on paper. Now they are giving their marriage one last chance, one week, an hour a day. Will they learn to discover who each other are and what they truly need to be happy or will it all be over after the week is done? Great characters with intense chemistry and lots of emotion. I was hooked from beginning to end. I loved it.

A second try for a second chance. Has Eva💃💋 tried everything to hold it together? What about Nick🐺🍆⛲? Is there something left between them worth saving? What now?

Not sure I like how this starts out as a typical failed marriage.👰 Neither side wants to give in, but their counselor sets rules they must follow when they meet. There must still be some feelings there between them, but maybe it's just lust. After being apart a year, they would be virtually strangers.
The book is written in first person. Fortunately, it's from each character's own point of view, so we get both sides of the story, not just a one sided view. Unfortunately, I found myself skipping pages to get past the conflict between Eva 💃💋and Nick🐺🍆⛲👋. At times Eva's character seemed so petty and shallow, as when she dithers over what outfit to wear, as if her clothes might send some kind of secretive message to Nick 🐺🍆⛲👋when they meet again. Also, how could Nick's personality have done a 180 in one year? I found it totally incongruous to what Eva💃💋 knew of him when they were together. His authoritarian demands were laughable. The more I read, the more ridiculous it got and I just couldn't bring myself to finish it. Neither one of the characters had any apparent emotional involvement in the marriage to begin with. I have read most of Author Evan's 📚books and liked them. This one no. DNF at 26%.
Eva and Nick are on their way to a divorce but have agreed to meet for one hour a day for one week, with strict rules of engagement, to ensure that is what they really want. Eva is reluctant, as she is sure it can only end with the signing of the divorce papers, but Nick is determined to give it the old college try. This is a very different approach to crafting a second chance romance story, but Mr. Evans pulls it off like no other can! The daily meetings are not what you expect and the real background to the separation is revealed in very emotional vignettes. You’re not really sure what to expect next, and that is the beauty of the story. As is the author’s style, there are plenty of spankings (some rather severe) with lots of graphically erotic sex. There are a couple of things you will “need” when reading this story, tissues for your eyes and privacy for your reading enjoyment. 5 Stars.
A second chance story. Nick and Eva do one last ditch effort, after this their marriage is over or they get back together. The set up and the reasons why are slowly revealed over the course of the story. This can only work if they are completely honest with themselves and their deepest desires.
I really enjoyed this story. It is a real Trent Evans book. It is very intense and it asks a lot of the people involved. Eva’s emotions and feelings are in a turmoil as the week goes on, but it also forces her to take a good look at her wants and needs and to be honest to Nick. Nick gets more confident and also more strict and harsh.
This story started off a bit off kilter for me because we meet Eva and Nick, during an awkward meeting that we don't know the why of until much later. The way it was set up is mostly through a lot of second guessing and reading between the lines. We end up getting the gist that the MCs are married but on the verge of divorce and that a 3rd party has forced them to meet as a last ditch attempt to see if their marriage is really over or if there is a chance things can be mended between the two.
The kink isn't really my jam here and the humiliation scenes and rough sex read a little too choppy and almost distorted because there was such a disconnect, emotionally, between both MCs. I felt very little chemistry between Nick and Eva, so I couldn't really get behind their HEA. It does happen towards the end and both are in a much more fulfilling relationship because they are now on the same page but it didn't really give me any warm fuzzies once if ended.

Maybe it is just me, but when I start a book, I want to start from the beginning – meaning that the background/overall purpose of the story is there. With this book, I felt more like I was jumping into a story halfway thru the book. It wasn’t until I got about halfway thru, that I figured out the purpose of why they were in fact meeting every day. Because it has a much slower start than I am used to, I struggled at the beginning, and I think it detracted a bit from the story itself as I was always trying to figure out what brought the two together at the start of chapter one and that seemed to take away a bit from what I was reading.
The story itself was not bad. Parts of it were great – just like I expect when I read books from this author. However, aside from the way the book started, I did not enjoy the name calling. Normally it does not bother me when it is in the context of the storyline, but something about how it was written and used in this book, detracted from the overall story for me and I cannot put my finger on what did not sit well with me as I read the story. I get the whole humiliation play, but this was a bit over the top and it just did not fit well within the context of the story.
It was for the most part an enjoyable read, but the reason I gave it a 3 start was solely due to the slow start. It took a long time to read thru the book to get to a point where it really grabbed my attention.
I received an advance reader copy from the author in exchange for my honest review.
I enjoyed this story a lot. It took me until about a third of the way to get into it but at that point it was hard to put down especially because of the way it unfolds. It starts off by getting right into these daily meetings that Eva and Nick have to have, for one hour, where she has to do everything he says. Unless she makes the conscious decision to bow out.
You can guess about why they're meeting and the general reason for the discontent between them but not the personal details and why two people with this chemistry and passion between them also have an underlying animosity - that is revealed piece by piece. This is what I liked the most about this book, the storytelling and the way it all came together. The characters... well, not so much. I found Eva particularly annoying and a bit grating but bearable enough to continue reading.
It's a good book by a talented writer and if you like tense D/s storylines with a flowing plot, it's a good choice.
will be blunt, I do not like books that feature what I call quasi- consent. In this type of book the woman’s mind is screaming No, no, no but her body appears to like whatever is happening so the man runs with it. He says he knows what she needs and wants, or as in this case he hopes he knows. Eva and Nick have been separated for almost a year and she wants the divorce papers signed. The book starts off with a very unclear agenda and the reader can’t be sure what is happening. Soon it seems that Dennis, whoever and whatever he is, has somehow convinced them to spend one hour per day for seven days, together. During that time Eva must do whatever Nick asks her to do. Is this revenge or reconciliation? If you don’t mind a woman undergoing humiliating and debasing acts and don’t mind that there is no real consent then you will probably enjoy the book. I gave it four stars because it is well written not because I like this type of story which seems to be very popular right now.

A new book from Trent Evans is always an event as far as I am concerned because I am a fan. This one is a little different from the norm. Eva and Nick Fletcher were married but now they are done. There is no coming back from the separation, they just have to deal with lodging the documentation etc. The couple haven’t seen each other in 8 months but have come together for a final week, for what aim will be established? Or not. Although this is a love story, it’s an uncomfortable read in places, quite challenging in fact. Nick is commanding and strict and can be very cruel, and in some cases downright vicious but Eva is no pushover. Second chance is a new direction from Trent Evans but being the consummate master of the written word he has produced a book which has all the ingredients one would wish to see in an erotic, unequal power romance. I wasn’t too keen on Nick at times but I liked this book, it was easy to read, flowed well and kept me guessing. Excellent entertainment. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a book that had me hooked quickly. Nick and Eva are trying to resolve whether they should divorce or try once more. They met with a friend who came up with basic rules for them: during the hour they are together, they both must tell the truth and Eva must obey Nick. That second part was hard for Eva, but she couldn't say the words that would stop everything. When we finally learn what those words are, it is all about consent, for them both.
Nick has changed and Eva is intrigued by the changes. Even if she thinks that she does not want a dominant man, her body certainly does, and it seems her body gets off on humiliation as well. It takes a little while for her head to go along. As I read more of the story, I could see that they had a strong connection, even love for one another, but they both needed to be honest about their wants and needs. Once that happens, there is a HEA for them.
There are definitely parts of this book that make one uncomfortable, but that is the hallmark of a Trent Evans book. I highly recommend this book!
★ Stranded at the crossroads of divorce & marriage - A thoughtfully told story of truth, needs, and acceptance ★
—>>> “…the true end of the road - or the beginning of what could still be.” Regarding the woman who is still his wife, Eva remains the aloof enigma Nick just cannot seem to reach either physically nor emotionally, but he has one last chance to do so - and he only has seven days to chip away at it as quickly as he can.
The dual POV really pulls you into their journey’s efforts along with glimpses of some of the relationship roadblocks which might have led them to be stranded currently at the crossroads of divorce and marriage. The only way for them to move onward is to push to define their deeply rooted needs, to see if they each have what it will take to remain together. A thoughtfully told story of truth, needs, and acceptance.
Nick and Eva have one week of one hour a day to begin to save their marriage, if that's even possible. This second chance at a true relationship introduces Eva to her newly dominant soon to be ex. Nick has evolved and improved beyond Eva's imagination. They must use their daily hour for complete honesty and follow the "rules" set forth by their marriage counsellor. Their choice is to follow the rules or say the exact phrase to end it all. Nick has evolved into a dominant lover and intends to reveal Eva's hidden desires and darkest needs. They embark on a very sensual, erotic path that is hot as hades. I totally enjoyed this new turn that the author has taken with this story, I was totally involved in the new scenarios this couple takes on and the urges and desires they reveal and test out with each other. Bravo Mr. Evans, you hit the nail on the head with this one!
Married couple Eva and Nick marry was practically dead all that's left is for them to sign go through the formality of a divorce. They're trying to see if if they should get a divorce or give marriage a second chance. One of their friend came up with a last ditch idea with some simple rules where they spend week together. But during that week they must both be truthful to each other and Eva must also obey Nick something that she's unfamiliar with. Nick has changed and become more dominant she doesn't like this new side of him but her body craves it. Nick craves dominance and Eva submission and he was downright cruel at time. The story was intense, steamy, and evolved a lot emotions from reader. It's well written with extraordinary characters and easy to follow.

ARC Review: I was so excited to read "Need" by Trent Evans because I have loved all of his books I've read so far, and "Need" delivers everything I was hoping for and more: characters Nick and Eva have an emotional depth to them that elevates this story beyond simply hot and sexy into a wonderfully heartfelt romance, that is very hot and sexy indeed!! I definitely recommend this book!!
I loved it, even though it made me cry… In order to shuck off the bonds of dissatisfaction and complacency Nick and Eva both agreed to last ditch arrangement of sorts in an effort to evaluate the state of things. Now that there was nothing else left to lose, it was time for both of them to drop their masks and finally be honest with themselves and each other. If they could be strong enough… I received a free copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
It started out slow, but the more I read, the better it got. By the time I hit the last chapter it had all of delicious darkness you expect from this author.
Get ready for a wild ride. This author just upped his game, and ladies get prepared with a glass of wine and a fan. You do not want to miss a moment and have to put this book down. Well... maybe so that you can reread certain passages.
I wouldn’t recommend this book. I gave it a one star for the almost physical dominance and abuse on the woman in the book. Lots of calling her a slut and doing things to her that basically border rape. It’s not till the middle of the book do they say they are still married, but forcefully making a woman do something is still considered rape.
I have to say this one sucked me deeply into Nick & Eva's story. The author always brings the reader sizzling, scorching, steamy carnal scenes & situations that push the envelope in the most deliciously depraved & dark ways combined with excellent writing that provides a perfect balance peopled with intriguing characters & plot that engages & holds our interest in the most wonderfully entertaining way. And that's what the reader will find with this scorching journey of a couple a razor blade away from filing for divorce after 20 years of marriage. But a final last ditch effort to save it, orchestrated by a third party/friend, just may be their only hope. And Nick, over the course of their 1 year separation, has had a slowly dawning epiphany just what may truly be the problem with the marriage. Now, armed with this awareness & a game plan, if he can successfully apply his strategy, he just may be able to breach Eva's walls & allow her to realize her deeply submerged but true nature. I found this to be a wonderfully written story that piqued my interest, made me deeply care about Nick's last ditch & increasingly desperate attempt to save their marriage, made me want to talk to Eva to understand why she was so resistant to her 'inner self' (although Nick's methods were intense & startling to downright shocking), & I did not put this one down once. It's scorching, shocking, intense, & IMO much more 'deep' than it may initially appear. Did it make me bite my lip? Curl my toes? Mentally gasp? Yes, it did. But, it also made me think about how one would go about trying to help (albeit in a sometimes overwhelming manner) someone realize the truth about themselves & thereby actually help them be happy & at peace with who they truly are. Excellent writing, engaging & fascinating characters, a plot that swirls the reader into the story & an ending I found to be just, perfect.
The couple in this book is Nick Fletcher and Eva, who’s last name was never mentioned in the book. Their dynamic is husband and wife that has been separated for a while and trying to finalize a divorce.
In this book, there was not much of a plot. However, the conditions of the divorce was revealed later on in the story. The book is mainly the introduction of character’s and their problems. However, there is a lot of introspective thinking. I prefer plot over introspect, but to each their own. Also, the book consisted of 20 chapters with rotating point of views between Nick and Eva.
The “romance” scenes were very steamy. I will never judge on the amount of romance scenes in a book, but more the quality of the scenes. The steam is approximately 80% of the book, with touches of degradation in them. I have read approximately read books by the author and would like to concur that none of the steam scenes that he writes are the same, but similar. Each couple has their own unique scenes I’d like to think.
The ending of the book tied the book together and the character’s conflicts were addressed.
With that being sad, I give the book a 4 out of 5.
With thanks.
Disclaimer: I did get this book for free through Booksprout. However, I did not get paid for a skewed review. This is an honest review with no intentions to sway readers to persuade sales.
I felt the book this particular book was written in - had a sort of thriller (there's nothing though besides the thrill of the sex scenes) and a dark drama. It did have me confused a bit in the beginning since I was trying to piece as a reader more details of why they became the way they are, while these two are doing it out.
Do take the warnings that it has in terms of sexual content, it does start off with a dubcon (but some implications of a consensual) - and later very apparent this was consensual. If you have read previous books from Trent Evans, I feel the content is not a surprise and you know what type to expect - I personally like not the bdsm but humiliation aspect they write. I think my only thing was I didn't expect the spanking on her breasts to be the point they bruised.
That being said though - I wasn't attracted or convinced with the characters themselves. They had been apart from one year and I couldn't see that Nick changed THAT much in terms of personality especially with how Eva mentioned how he used to be. I really was just not convinced that Nick could suddenly say all these demands to her if that is how he used to be. And Eva is...a lot more shallow of a person and petty, This is actually my main drawback from the book.

As one of my favorite authors, I was pleased to read and reread a hot new Trent Evans book this month. His new offering is an emotional story of a couple, on the verge of divorce, trying one more time to save their relationship. They are well thought out, realistic and engaging characters. I love that they are so well described that we feel what they feel, and see intimate details through their eyes. The book is fast paced and exciting. The sex and intimacy is fully described and hot, hot, hot. To me this is an erotic romance, with years of love between Nick and Eva. I found the evoloution of their relationship to be one of dominance and submission, which was satisfying for both of them and the reader. If you love intimately described, smokin' hot, D/s erotic romances, I recommend "Need" with my 5 star review.
It took a little time to understand what was happening in this book, but once you understand it is a fascinating study of the human psyche and desires. Normally, I would think Nick was a cruel man and his actions not only dominant but also non consensual, but and yet I found myself hoping he would succeed. When the reader finds out the words that would end it, it is clear that consent is implicit. As the story evolves some things are explained but I was still left with questions, not that they significantly alter the story just appease my curiosity. Eva’s conversation with Nick’s grandfather brought tears to my eyes and there were a couple of other occasions as well. Eva’s evolution as a submissive was fascinating and the connection she and Nick established was heartwarming.
Eva and Nick are ending their marriage. But, before they do so, their counselor has suggested a seven day “Game” (or is it a test). Nick and Eva are searching for “truth”, but what is really “truth”, and can it be found so quickly?
While they have been separated, Nick has learned what he needs. He believes Eva also has needs and desires. Is he correct? What will happen as commands are issued and possibly obeyed? Eva can obey the “Rules” or “Say the exact words” necessary to end it all. What will Eva do? Will she comply with Nick’s commands?
Open your heart, your mind and your soul. This story has it all, and I highly recommend it.
Nick and Eva have been separated for a year. They are both different people and their marriage councilor wants them to give each one more try to save their marriage. Nick is to be in charge and Eva is suppose to obey. A D/s marriage. These two need to open up and be honest with each other and their feeling. Will the be able to save their marriage? This book was enjoyable with plenty of heat and steam. It was a slow read. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Wow, I really liked this story. Had me from page one.
I think sometimes we forget that just because you have been married for a long time that we all still need those feelings we had early on, love, lust, zest for life together. We get into the rut of daily life, trying to reach some mystical goal, and we forget how it was like to just live and love. This is a story of how one couple was able to break that cycle. Maybe the way they did it is not for everyone, but the message should be.
Let me start out with what I didn’t care for, mostly the whole book went by Monday through Friday Him trying to be a dominant and her not cooperating. It lags in some areas but it does have Trent Evans signature rough play which I definitely like! It is so hot! Good read if you like lots of sex and I do!
