I have to say, this was surprising good.

So, a little background. Nearly 10 years ago when Disney acquired Star Wars and ended the old EU, aka Legends. Many of the stories were abruptly ended with no conclusion. One of those was the huge gap between the Fate of the Jedi series and the Legacy era comics, which takes place like 90 years later.

A dedicated fan, Handofthrawn45, decided to finish the story of Legends himself, this is that attempt. He has written three sets of stories that cover the gap, and I'm very impressed with the first book.

So, it picks up right where Apocalypse and Crucible left off. Abeloth is temporarily defeated. The Lost Tribe if the Sith is in shambles, and the hidden One Sith are bidding their time, and Luke and the Jedi have since left Couruscant for Ossus.

This story is mostly setting up the trilogy. Jaina, Tenel Ka, Zekk, and others are in Hapan for a wedding, as well as Allana Solo, Jacens daughter, and they travel to Yavin 4 for a scouting mission. Run into Vestara Khai, Ben Skywalker's ex-girlfriend, and a Sith Lord called Darth Vidious, they duel and part ways. This in turn encourages Luke to want to eradicate the Sith forever.

Ben and Tahiri visit Tattooine for a mission, ran across a woman named Miranda Fardreamer, a member of the splinter group from the Galactic Alliance who are interested in wiping out the Yuuzhan Vong, and chase her across the Dune Sea for a while.

Also, Jagged Fel has a number of chapters in this book, and he hangs out with Wraith Squadron and some Imperials in a Imperial-Alliance joint . issue to sus out what's going on with the Vong and this rogue alliance group.

That about sums it up. It was very well written, and I'm excited to read the next book when it gets delivered.

Being a fan fiction I was quite skeptical but still excited to give this story a shot. I was quickly hooked, a fresh and new adventure following the young heroes of the New Jedi Order. Many of the older characters such as Han, Luke and Leia take a back seat after their adventure in Crucible which allows Ben, Jaina, Tahiri and more to finally get the center stage. Much of this story feels like a pleasant walk through memory lane as we get to see old locations and familiar faces while still staying interesting and exciting for what the trilogy has in store. I highly recommend this to anyone who is a fan of the old expanded universe, especially the post RoTJ and who always wanted to see the next chapter of a story that never officially got its well deserved end.
